Channel Master TV on-screen guide

The on-screen guide makes it easy to select and record programs.

Over-the-air HD — amazing picture quality, free for the taking

The CM-7400 can record up to 35 hours of high-def programs, and provides great DVR conveniences like pause and forward/reverse skip using the remote control. And you know what? Over-the-air high-def broadcasts look as good or better than cable or satellite HD. This is a dual-tuner DVR, so you can watch one over-the-air channel while simultaneously recording another, or set it to record shows on two different channels at the same time. Recording shows is a snap using the on-screen program guide.

You'll find both HDMI and component video connections to ensure compatibility with virtually any HDTV. This DVR is a terrific solution for projector-based home theaters, since projectors never include a built-in tuner. Note: This DVR cannot record satellite or scrambled cable TV signals.

Stream movies from Vudu™

The CM-7400 makes it easy to access great Internet entertainment, too. You can either connect a network cable to the back-panel Ethernet port, or go wireless with the built-in Wi-Fi®. You like movies? Vudu's on-demand service has over 30,000 HD titles available for instant streaming. And their highest-quality "HDX" option combines a stunning 1080p picture with Dolby® Digital 5.1 surround sound. You can also share photos from Flickr, and keep tabs on your Facebook friends.

Channel Master TV

Overview: The Channel Master TV CM-7400 is an over-the-air HDTV DVR (digital video recorder) with on-demand entertainment access and Clear QAM capability. The Channel Master TV CM-7400 enables free over-the-air HD broadcasts, adds full DVR functionality (including the ability to pause, rewind, & record live TV), supports non-premium Clear QAM digital cable channels, provides storage and management for your personal media content, plus allows access to web content; such as On Demand Movies/TV shows and more for Vudu Apps - delivered right to your TV. The Channel Master TV CM-7400 lets you view and record local over-the-air digital broadcasts in your area, as well as unscrambled Clear QAM digital cable channels, using its dual ATSC tuners and Clear QAM tuner, along with its electronic program guide. With the CM-7400, you can pause, fast forward, and rewind your over-the-air programs. And unlike many other DVR services, there are no monthly subscription fees to record your over-the-air HDTV programming. In addition to accessing and recording free over-the-air HDTV content, the Channel Master TV CM-7400 gives you access to various on-demand Internet content, such as movies, music, photos, social networks, and more (subscription fees may apply). The Channel Master TV CM-7400 comes with an infrared remote control which operates the CM-7400 DVR and up to two other components.

Note: The Channel Master TV CM-7400 requires an over-the-air antenna for free TV broadcasts, a Clear QAM service provider & subscription for non-premium digital cable channels, and a broadband Internet connection for web movies/TV shows and apps.

Subscription Free HD DVR

Free HDTV: Over-the-air broadcasts provide the highest quality of HD available without any video compression or compromised video quality. All cable and Satellite providers use video compression techniques which degrades picture quality. You will notice a difference between their picture quality and what is available over-the-air with Channel Master TV. Over-the-air broadcast stations include major networks; such as ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and PBS.

Note: In order to receive live over-the-air broadcasts, you will need an outdoor or indoor antenna (sold separately) depending on your location.

Dual ATSC Tuners: The Channel Master TV CM-7400 is equipped with dual ATSC digital tuners which allow you to record two different over-the-air digital broadcasts simultaneously. You can also watch a previously recorded program while recording the two simultaneous broadcasts. This service is totally free of charge.

Note: The CM-7400 is not equipped with an NTSC tuner.

Clear QAM Tuner: The Channel Master TV CM-7400 also features a Clear QAM digital cable TV tuner that can receive unscrambled programs without a set-top box (cable service still required). You can record available Clear QAM digital cable channels as well. Clear QAM support varies city by city; check your cable provider for compatibility.

Note: Channel Master TV is not compatible with premium subscription cable services, so you will not get content that is only available on a premium cable service such as HBO, Showtime, ESPN, Disney, etc.. The CM-7400 does not support Satellite TV signals.

SD (Standard-Definition) and HD (High-Definition) Compatible: Using the built-in HDTV over-the-air tuner, you can view and record both standard-definition (SD) and high-definition (HD) digital programming. You can view up-converted standard-definition and native high-definition over-the-air digital broadcasts on a connected HDTV. You can also view both native SD and down-converted HD programming on a connected SDTV.

Electronic Program Guide: Other DVR manufacturers and service providers are required to pay fees for the television guide data that is delivered to the box via the internet or a service provider network. This expense is passed on to the consumer as a monthly DVR fee. With Channel Master TV, basic television guide data is transmitted free-of-charge by the broadcaster and the Channel Master CM-7400 receives this info and appropriately inserts it into the on-screen guide. The Basic Program Guide provides a 2-day viewing and recording window for ATSC/Clear QAM channels. While this info is basic and all depends on what the broadcaster decides to send, it is free. The electronic program guide offers the following search functions.

  • Channel List: The Program Guide will display a list of channels and programs available to watch in your area based on your selected TV source.
  • Title Search: Title Search allows you to find programs in the Program Guide by a keyword within the title or description. Keywords can be entered using the unit's on-screen keyboard or from the remote control's keypad.
  • Advanced Search: The Advanced Search option offers the ability to use additional search criteria to narrow your search. You can search by using criteria for keywords, genre, and people.

Note: If you desire additional program information, Channel Master TV offers a Premium Program Guide upgrade for a fee of $49.99 annually. The Premium Program Guide offers additional program information for both ATSC/Clear QAM, including a 14-day viewing and recording window.

320GB HDD: The Channel Master TV CM-7400 allows you to record over-the-air digital broadcasts (MPEG-2 & MPEG-4) on its internal 320GB hard disk drive. The unit can record up to 35 hours of high-definition (HD) video and 150 hours of standard-definition (SD) video.

Note: Storage hours will vary based on the format of the content.

Recording TV: The Channel Master TV CM-7400 allows you to record ATSC/Clear QAM programs currently playing or scheduled in advance, through its electronic program guide. You can schedule up to two recordings simultaneously. You can also set additional recording options, such as:

  • Record Episode: Records only the current episode.
  • Record Series: This option lets you record all available instances of the program within the Channel Master TV Program Guide
  • Find Other Times: Takes you to an 'Upcoming Programs' screen displaying the current program's future episodes scheduled for the next 14 days (if you subscribe to the Premium Program Guide service). This list displays new episodes and/or repeat programs.
  • Priority: Set the priority of the episode to record if multiple recordings are scheduled at the same time.
  • Bonus Time: Add bonus recording time before and/or after the scheduled recording time; great for live events. You can add up to 1 hour prior to a scheduled event or 3 hours after an event has ended.
  • Manual Recording: When no guide data is present or when you are receiving limited guide data in the Program Guide, you may elect to perform a manual recording. You can manually enter the channel number, date, start time, record length, and how often for your desired recording.

Note: DVR recordings can be kept for 1 week, 1 month, until space is needed on the HDD, or until you manually delete them.

Controlling Live TV: The Channel Master TV CM-7400 lets you pause (up to 1 hr), fast forward (up to 5x), and rewind (up to 5x) live TV through its built-in 320GB HDD and built-in DVR capabilities. A replay function lets you view the previous 7 seconds of a program.

Programming Information: During a live TV broadcast, you can bring up the program information on the top of your TV screen. The title of the program, program duration, description of the program, channel number, and any TV ratings for what you are watching is displayed. Program details of the program you are watching may be available for some broadcasts.

Closed Caption Support: The CM-7400 supports digital Closed Captions. The unit offers many options for Closed Captioning (CC), including font size, colors, edge style, service, and opacity.

Parental Controls: You can restrict your family's viewing based either on program ratings or on a channel-by-channel basis. The parental lock feature is protected by a 4-digit pass-code.

On Demand Entertainment

Wired or Wireless Network Connection: The Channel Master TV CM-7400 lets you connect to the Internet via your home network, using its hard-wired Ethernet (RJ-45) port or its built-in WiFi. Once connected to your home network, the CM-7400 lets you access Vudu HD movies and various other web media applications from Vudu Apps.

Ethernet Port: A 10 Base-T or 100 Base-TX LAN port is required for a hardwired Ethernet connection to the CM-7400. Use a standard Ethernet (LAN) cable with this unit (Cat5 or better with a RJ-45 connector).
