About the PS Audio Soloist
The Soloist from PS Audio makes a great power protection solution for space-challenged areas, such as behind a wall-mounted flat-panel TV. This sturdily built in-wall AC power conditioner features a 1/4" thick solid machined aluminum plate. Its passive conditioning circuitry filters out electronic interference before it reaches your gear, and it keeps any noise generated by your components from flowing back into your household's power line. The Soloist also protects your equipment from damaging power spikes, and it installs just like a regular wall outlet.
Note: Installation by a licensed electrician is recommended.
"The Soloist is a terrific power protection solution for lots of applications. I used three of them in my basement theater/listening room. It was the perfect choice for my ceiling-mounted projector. And I used two Soloists in my equipment closet. I like being able to plug my amplifiers straight into the wall and still know that they're protected against AC mayhem."

Overview: The PS Audio Soloist is an in-wall mounted surge and spike protection device with built-in lossless, high current, AC noise reduction and cleaning for superior audio/video performance. The Soloist provides safe and clean power to any connected equipment.
ETL Certified: The PS Audio Soloist has been ETL certified for safe in-home use.
Wall Plate: The Soloist features a 1/4" thick solid, machined aluminum front-plate in a silver finish.
High Current Ultimate Outlets: The Soloist utilizes two High Current Ultimate Outlets capable of handling 20 amps encased in a protective plastic cover with three wires (White, Black, Green) coming out the back to connect to your house wiring.
Spike Protection: The Soloist utilizes super MOV technology for surge protection allowing the Soloist to provide 100% spike protection for anything you have connected.
Non-Restrictive Dynamics: The main element of the Soloist is a balun. A balun is a donut of powdered iron with a wire wrapped around each half of the donut. In the case of the Soloist, the balun is quite large and the wire extremely heavy gauge so there's not degradation of micro and macro dynamics keeping your sound clear and picture vivid and clear. It does this by canceling a great deal of noise without a lot a low of wire in the way so there is not any type of dynamic restrictions on your system.
Non-Restrictive Power: The Soloist cleans the power coming out of your home's AC sockets without restricting the power. This helps improve the performance of both audio and video components. Three dimensionality is enhanced as is the beauty of an audio system's top-end and midrange sounds, yet never at the expense of dynamics or bass. In a Home Theater environment, the picture noticeably improves. Better color definition, clarity and image depth are immediately apparent.
Bi-Directional Filtering: AV equipment generates noise from their AC to DC conversions circuits and from their switching power supplies which adds line noise to your home system. The Soloist helps reduce the contamination your equipment places on the line, while improving the performance of your connected equipment. The Soloist utilizes bi-directional passive AC filtering. This type of filtering not only does a good job of pre-cleaning the AC line itself, it also does an equally good job of keeping the noise generated by connected equipment from going back on the line.
Noise Reduction: Differential and common mode noise are the two basic forms of noise found on home AC lines. Both are bad, and both are reduced significantly by the Soloist. Most other single element conditioners address one or the other type of noise, but rarely both like the Soloist. The Soloist's balun can reduce common mode noise by up to 40 dB, meaning that whatever noise is on the line will be reduced by over 100 times, and also handles differential noise. This cleaning effort takes place at frequencies beginning at 100kHz.
Installation: The Soloist is designed to mount in a dual-gang box opening in your wall. Everything you need for installation is included with the Soloist, including the double gang in-wall junction box. The Soloist provides three attached electrical wires that can be connected to copper or copper clad wiring. Do not use the Soloist with aluminum wire.
Note: The Soloist must be installed in accordance with national and electrical codes. Please consult a qualified electrician with any questions or concerns installing your Soloist.
