All your bass in one place

Which sub do I buy? Which amp do I get? Putting a bass system together for your vehicle can be confusing, so we've eliminated the guesswork. This Crutchfield-approved bass package features Sound Ordnance's B-12 12" sub enclosure and the Sound Ordnance M-1500 amplifier, a great combination that will get you and your car rockin'. Just add wiring and you've got a recipe for deep, satisfying bass.

Good vibrations

The Sound Ordnance B-12 enclosure houses a single 12" polypropylene woofer with a rubber surround. The enclosure features a slot port with rounded inner corners for smooth, responsive bass with minimal port noise. The B-12 handles up to 250 watts RMS, making it a great match for the M-1500 amp.

Heartbeat

The M-1500 amplifier delivers 300 watts RMS to the B-12 enclosure (a little extra power is a good thing). Sound Ordnance uses sophisticated power supply and output technologies to ensure clean amplification from the inputs all the way to your speakers. Special circuits protect the amp from overheating and short circuits, and a turn-on delay virtually eliminates that annoying thump when you turn your system on.  An adjustable low-pass filter and a variable bass boost allow you to control your bass barrage at will.

Amplifier Features

Power Ratings: The Sound Ordnance M-1500 is a mono-block Class AB amplifier with an RMS power rating of 300 watts per channel into 4Ω and 500 watts per channel into 2Ω. Power ratings are measured with an input power of 14.4 volts.

Crossovers: The M-1500 is equipped with a low-pass crossover and a subsonic filter. You can set the low-pass cutoff frequency between 40Hz and 300Hz. The subsonic filter, designed to block ultra low frequencies that can damage speakers and rob amplifier power, is variable between 10Hz and 40Hz. The crossovers have a 12dB per octave slope, and cannot be turned off.

Bass Boost: The amplifier has a rotary bass boost control. Boost is continuously variable from 0dB to +12dB and centered at 45 Hz.

LED Indicators: The M-1500 features two LED indicators: a green LED that illuminates when the amp is powered on, and a red LED that illuminates when the amplifier is in protect mode due to overheating or a short circuit in the speaker wire.

Remote Bass Control: The amplifier comes with a remote bass control module to allow you to adjust the volume of the amp from the front of the vehicle. The module has a rotary volume control knob, and an LED to indicate when the amplifier is turned on. The module is designed to mount under the dash, and comes with 16-1/2 feet of cable.

Amplifier Dimensions:

  • Width: 15-1/4"
  • Height: 2-1/8"
  • Depth: 9-7/8"

Amplifier Connections

Removable End Caps: The end caps on the M-1500 are removable with a 3mm Allen wrench (not supplied) to make it easier to attach the power and speaker wires.

Power Connections: The power and ground connections are set screw terminals that will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. (An 8-gauge amplifier wiring kit is recommended.) The remote turn-on terminal is a set screw terminal that will also accept up to 8-gauge wire. A Phillips-head screwdriver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.

Speaker Connections: The speaker connections are set screw terminals that will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. Even though this is a mono amplifier, there are two sets of speaker outputs. The terminals are wired in parallel internally, allowing you to connect two 4Ω speakers to separate terminals. A Phillips-head screwdriver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.

RCA Inputs and Outputs: The amplifier features a pair of stereo RCA inputs for connecting your head unit. There is also a pair of stereo RCA outputs for feeding the preamp signal to another amplifier, if needed.

Fuses: The M-1500 features two 30-amp ATC blade fuses.

Subwoofer Features

Materials: The Sound Ordnance B-12 is a pre-loaded ported enclosure with a single 12" subwoofer. It is constructed of 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard), covered in black carpet. The subwoofer features a polypropylene cone with rubber surround, a 2" voice coil, and a heavy-gauge stamped steel basket.

Box Design: The ported enclosure has a front-firing slot port below the sub; it is 13" wide and 7/8" tall. The box has a total of 1.53 cubic feet of airspace.

Terminals: The B-12 is equipped with a single set of spring-post speaker terminals, mounted in the rear panel. The spring terminals will accept bare wire up to 10 gauge, pin connectors, and single banana plugs, but are spaced too far apart for dual banana plugs.

Brackets: Brackets for securing the enclosure to your vehicle are recommended.

Specifications:

  • Frequency Response: 45-150 Hz

  • Dimensions:
    • Width: 14-3/4"
    • Height: 15-1/8"
