About the Sound Ordnance 300-Watt Bass Package
All your bass in one place
All your bass in one place
Which sub do I buy? Which amp do I get? Putting a bass system together for your vehicle can be confusing, so we've eliminated the guesswork. This Crutchfield-approved bass package features Sound Ordnance's B-17 12" sub enclosure and the Sound Ordnance M-1500 amplifier, a great combination that will get you and your car rockin'. Just add wiring and you've got a recipe for deep, satisfying bass.
See the bass
Sound Ordnance designed the B-17 bandpass subwoofer to be the bass fortress in your vehicle's sound system. Its 12" polypropylene woofer is mounted inside a sturdy enclosure, between an airtight sealed chamber and a second chamber that boasts a generous slot port for massive air movement. This bandpass design increases speaker efficiency, and the sub will handle up to 250 watts RMS for impressive output from a relatively small box. Best of all, you can watch the woofer swing into action behind the clear acrylic front window.
Feel the bass
The M-1500 amplifier delivers 300 watts RMS to the B-17 enclosure (a little extra power is a good thing). Sound Ordnance uses sophisticated power supply and output technologies to ensure clean amplification from the inputs all the way to your speakers. Special circuits protect the amp from overheating and short circuits, and a turn-on delay virtually eliminates that annoying thump when you turn your system on. An adjustable low-pass filter and a variable bass boost allow you to control your bass barrage at will.

I have been messing with subs and bass installs in my garage since the early 90s and this is a hard combo to beat. The amp and sub seem to pair up very well and the system make a LOT of bass and will certainly have everything on the car rattling. Don't get me wrong you are not going to be shaking everything around you but the amount of bass produced would satisfy 90% of the folks out there looking to get some bass going in their car. The amp has a lot of plastic on it which is a bit cheesy but seems to be doing the job but it does get hot it you are pounding the sub. The looks of the sub itself are pretty cool if its going to be where folks see it so that is kind of nice and it seems to have no problems with the sub-bass I tried while playing some old DJ Magic Mike CDs.
Pros: A LOT of Bass
Cons: Wish the amp had more metal and less plastic and for the power it produces its kind of big

Excellent bass for the price. Installed one in a 2014 Jeep and another in a 2010 Altima. Very satisfied!!

This thing bumps. The two go together like peas in a pod. The highs are a little missed though, I had a powered 10" compact sub and that really hit the higher bass notes well and hard. But this seems to fall short of that and I felt like I lost something. But what can you expect? It's a 12" subwoofer, the highs are not it's responsibility. After a short break in, this thing will serious add some bump to your music and it goes oh so low and hard. Would definitely recommend the product if you're choosing between a 10" drawing 500W and this package.
Pros: HARD hitting bass Hits the lows very well You can actually feel it in your throat and chest.
Cons: Highs are gone Its massive, but worth it

More details on the Sound Ordnance 300-Watt Bass Package
Power Ratings: The Sound Ordnance M-1500 is a mono-block Class AB amplifier with an RMS power rating of 300 watts per channel into 4Ω and 500 watts per channel into 2Ω. Power ratings are measured with an input power of 14.4 volts.
Crossovers: The M-1500 is equipped with a low-pass crossover and a subsonic filter. You can set the low-pass cutoff frequency between 40Hz and 300Hz. The subsonic filter, designed to block ultra low frequencies that can damage speakers and rob amplifier power, is variable between 10Hz and 40Hz. The crossovers have a 12dB per octave slope, and cannot be turned off.
Bass Boost: The amplifier has a rotary bass boost control. Boost is continuously variable from 0dB to +12dB and centered at 45 Hz.
LED Indicators: The M-1500 features two LED indicators: a green LED that illuminates when the amp is powered on, and a red LED that illuminates when the amplifier is in protect mode due to overheating or a short circuit in the speaker wire.
Remote Bass Control: The amplifier comes with a remote bass control module to allow you to adjust the volume of the amp from the front of the vehicle. The module has a rotary volume control knob, and an LED to indicate when the amplifier is turned on. The module is designed to mount under the dash, and comes with 16-1/2 feet of cable.
- Width: 15-1/4"
- Height: 2-1/8"
- Depth: 9-7/8"
Removable End Caps: The end caps on the M-1500 are removable with a 3mm Allen wrench (not supplied) to make it easier to attach the power and speaker wires.
Power Connections: The power and ground connections are set screw terminals that will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. (An 8-gauge amplifier wiring kit is recommended.) The remote turn-on terminal is a set screw terminal that will also accept up to 8-gauge wire. A Phillips-head screwdriver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.
Speaker Connections: The speaker connections are set screw terminals that will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. Even though this is a mono amplifier, there are two sets of speaker outputs. The terminals are wired in parallel internally, allowing you to connect two 4Ω speakers to separate terminals. A Phillips-head screwdriver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.
RCA Inputs and Outputs: The amplifier features a pair of stereo RCA inputs for connecting your head unit. There is also a pair of stereo RCA outputs for feeding the preamp signal to another amplifier, if needed.
Fuses: The M-1500 features two 30-amp ATC blade fuses.
Materials: The Sound Ordnance B-17 is a pre-loaded bandpass style enclosure with a single 12" subwoofer. It is constructed of 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard), covered in black carpet. It also features a clear acrylic front window for viewing the subwoofer. The subwoofer features a polypropylene cone with rubber surround, a 2" voice coil, and a heavy-gauge stamped steel basket.
Box Design: The enclosure has a sealed chamber in front of the subwoofer, and a vented chamber behind. The front-firing slot port to the right of the sub is 1-1/4" wide and 14" high. The box has a total of 1.46 cubic feet of airspace.
Terminals: The B-17 is equipped with a single set of spring-post speaker terminals, mounted in the rear panel. The spring terminals will accept bare wire up to 10 gauge, pin connectors, and single banana plugs, but are spaced too far apart for dual banana plugs.
