The Infinity Cascade home theater speaker package is the perfect combination of audiophile-grade sound and stylish design. Taking advantage of cutting-edge technologies, Infinity has succeeded in creating speakers that deliver bold, dynamic sound from a slimline cabinet. They're an ideal cosmetic match for the latest big-screen and flat-panel TVs. And movie night will never be the same — you'll experience a seamless 360º soundfield, full of ambient sounds and directional special effects.

The key to the Cascade speakers' remarkable sound and slender design is their innovative woofer design. By using a rectangular, flat-panel woofer, Infinity was able to drastically reduce the size of the speaker cabinet without compromising sound quality. And the drivers are made of Infinity's premium C.M.M.D.™ material, which delivers clear, vibrant audio with virtually no distortion.

The center and surround speakers come with brackets, so you can mount them on your walls for a clean, uncluttered look. Plus, the front speakers come with floor stands which elevate the drivers to ear-level, and the surround speakers include shorter table stands for sturdy placement on a shelf or bookcase. You can locate the center speaker on top of your television or home entertainment cabinet.

Rounding out the system is the Cascade Model Fifteen powered subwoofer. It features a whopping 800-watt amplifier and four 6" x 6" woofers. The Model Fifteen produces hard-hitting bass response, adding serious impact to movie soundtracks and your favorite music.

    Speaker Features

MRS Drivers: The Infinity Cascade series of home loudspeakers features Maximum Radiating Surface (MRS) flat-panel transducers. MRS flat-panel transducers can be loaded into unobtrusive enclosures that are nearly as thin as they are narrow. In addition, the MRS diaphragm functions much like a flat piston to achieve a flat broadband frequency response and uniform on- and off-axis dispersion. Other attributes of MRS drivers include:

    • Dual Elliptical Voice Coils: In order to uniformly drive the flat-panel diaphragms, each transducer is equipped with two elliptical voice coils. The dual voice coils have more than six times the voice coil contact of a typical cone speaker, and move the diaphragm evenly top-to-bottom and side-to-side for crystal-clear resonance-free operation throughout the driver's dynamic range.
    • Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm (C.M.M.D.): The MRS drivers are made of Infinity's patented C.M.M.D., a rigid, lightweight material. By reinforcing the C.M.M.D. panels with strategic ribs and gussets, the Infinity engineers were able to perfectly balance electro-acoustic efficiency and reliability.
    • Rubber Surrounds: The MRS flat-panel transducers has a rubber surround for a smoother response and improved durability.

Mid-bass Drivers: The Model Seven and Model Five each feature a single 7-3/4" x 3-3/8" MRS flat-panel transducer, while the Model 3C features two. The mid-bass drivers are video shielded, so you can place the speakers near a CRT-type TV without causing picture distortion.

Tweeter: Each speaker has a 1" C.M.M.D. dome tweeter, which offers superior stiffness and damping compared to traditional metal domes.

Constant Acoustic Impedance (CAI) Waveguide: The tweeter is mounted in Infinity's proprietary Constant Acoustic Impedance (CAI) waveguide. This elliptical-shaped waveguide gives the speaker a much wider side-to-side dispersion, while at the same time limiting the sound dispersion to the top and bottom of the listening area.

Dual 5-Way Binding Posts: Each speaker has two gold-plated 5-way binding posts, allowing you to bi-wire or bi-amp the speaker. Bi-wiring (separately wiring the high frequency and low frequency terminals from the same amplifier output) and bi-amping (separately wiring the high frequency and low frequency terminals from separate amplifier channels) can provide several sonic advantages and considerably more flexibility in power amplifier selection. You should use the gold-plated jumpers to tie the terminals together when connecting the speaker with a single speaker wire. Each binding post allows you to connect the speaker wire using pin-connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, dual banana plugs, or bare wire.

Enclosure: The drivers are mounted into an extruded aluminum enclosure with a curved MDF front panel with a premium high-gloss black finish. The enclosure is internally braced to eliminate performance-robbing resonances.

Grille: The Cascade speakers use a unique frameless cloth grille. The grille is attached to the front of the speaker baffle by 2 magnets (4 on the Model 3C). When attached to the speaker, the grille adds approximately 1/2" to the overall depth of the speaker.

Floor Stand Mounting (Model Seven): The Model Seven speaker should be mounted onto the supplied 28"-high speaker stand. A set of four spiked feet are supplied when placing the speaker on a carpeted floor. The spikes are equipped with locking nuts to keep the spikes in place. The spikes come with rubber-domed cap nuts for use on hardwood floors. The spikes add approximately 1" to 1-1/4" to the overall height of the speaker. The bottom of the speaker stand has hard rubber feet which will not scratch hardwood floors if you decide not to use the spikes or rubber-domed cap nuts.

Stand Mounting (Model Five): The Model Five speaker can be mounted onto the supplied 19"-high speaker stand using one of the two supplied mounting cleats. The stand places the tweeter approximately 23-1/2" from the bottom of the base. For optimum performance, the tweeter should be placed at ear level in your listening area. Note: Dimensions when speaker mounted on the stand: W=7.722", H=30.25", D=8.488", Weight=20.5 pounds.

Wall Mounting: The Model Five and Model Three C speakers can be wall-mounted if desired. (There are no provisions for wall-mounting the Model Seven speaker.) Two mounting cleats can be attached to the rear of the speaker using the provided screws. These cleats fit into the supplied wall-mount brackets. Each Model 5 has a 11-1/2" vertically-mounted wall bracket, while the Model 3C has an 18-3/4" horizontally-mounted wall bracket. When mounted, the back of the speaker is approximately 1" from the wall. Note: Hardware for mounting the bracket to the wall is not supplied.

Adjustable Foot (Model Three C): The Model Three C center channel speaker has an attached adjustable foot which raises the back of the speaker, allowing you to angle the speaker toward the listening position. A wider foot fits to the bottom of the speaker to provide a stable, slip-proof foundation on a flat surface.

    Subwoofer Features

Drivers: The Infinity Cascade Series Model Fifteen powered subwoofer is equipped with four down-firing 6" x 6" flat square drivers.

Surround: For a smoother response and improved durability, the drivers use rubber surrounds.

Enclosure: The Model Fifteen's acoustic suspension enclosure has a unique curved front panel with a premium high-gloss black finish. The top is made of rigid, lightweight aluminum, while the back and bottom panels are made of vinyl-covered MDF (medium-density fiberboard).

Amplifier: The drivers are powered by a single 800-watt (RMS) amplifier.

Gain Control: The subwoofer has a rotary control on the rear panel for adjusting the level of the bass.

Phase Switch: The subwoofer's phase switch allows you to control the phase of the subwoofer's output relative to the front speakers. If the bass sounds muddy or unclear, toggling the phase control can sometimes strengthen the bass "attack."

Auto On/Off Circuit: The auto on/off circuit turns the power amp on when a signal is sensed and turns the amplifier off and into standby mode approximately 10 minutes after a signal is no longer received. An LED indicator on the rear panel glows green when the amplifier is on and red when the amp is in standby.

Low-Pass Crossover: The subwoofer features a continuously variable 50-150 Hz low-pass crossover that determines the highest frequency at which the subwoofer reproduces sounds. The crossover has a 24dB/octave slope.

R.A.B.O.S.: Infinity's Room Adaptive Bass Optimization System (R.A.B.O.S.) is a simple-to-use, yet sophisticated, low-frequency calibration system. The subwoofer contains a parametric equalizer that you can adjust, improving the sound of your system. The Room Adaptive Bass Optimization System gives you Frequency, Level, and Width controls. It enables you to identify the dominant low-frequency response characteristic of your room. Once you know the problem, the Bass Optimization System provides the tools needed to optimize the low-frequency characteristics of the speakers to the room they are in, exactly as the professional sound engineers do it.

Speaker Spikes: The subwoofer comes with 4 threaded speaker spikes that can be screwed into the bottom of the subwoofer's feet. The spikes can be used to stabilize the subwoofer, and they help provide better defined bass response by coupling the subwoofer to the floor; the spikes will provide a solid footing on carpeted floors. Each spike is equipped with locking nuts and hard rubber-domed cap nuts that can be used on hardwood floors. When used, the spikes add approximately 1/2" to 5/8" to the subwoofer's overall height.

Inputs and Outputs Notes (Model Fifteen)

Line-level Inputs: The gold-plated stereo RCA line-level inputs allow you to connect the subwoofer to the receiver or surround processor's subwoofer output using an RCA patch cable. If the receiver/processor has a mono subwoofer output, you may use either the left or right line-level input. You do not need to use a "Y" adapter.

Note: On the back panel, there is a two-way switch marked "LFE" and "Normal." When the switch is in the "LFE" position, the inputs are not affected by the subwoofer's internal low-pass crossover. When the switch is in the "Normal" position, the low-pass filter is engaged.

Line-level Outputs: The subwoofer has a pair of gold-plated RCA stereo line outputs which allows you to daisy-chain one Model Fifteen to multiple Model Fifteen subwoofers. Note: The line output is before the R.A.B.O.S. circuit, so you will have to individually adjust each connected subwoofer's R.A.B.O.S. controls during setup.
