All I needed was a simple pair of bookshelf speakers since I was downsizing my system and these Jamo speakers just seemed to be the right look and the right price. What I got was speakers that sound better than than almost anything I've ever owned. What a sweet surprise! Crutchfield sent them out in a timely manner and they have the best customer service ever. Five stars everyday!

Are you kidding, i.e., they only cost this much a pair? I have been buying speakers for 40 years. Many of my bookshelves averaged $1,500 a pair. Not only do the S801s sound great, they look great (no screws around the drivers). The "trick" on these speakers is to have them on a stand with "no top plate" (I use the Revel M stand). It also looks better without the top plate. The google reviews indicate "no bass." They are wrong because you must use a stand with no top plate (I actually had a carpenter trim down my Revel stand to 21 inches; it is all MDF wood). The bass is perfect in a small room (even though only rated at 76 hz). I do have $7,000 in Rotel components & audioquest cables, so this obviously helps. You may not notice the awesome sound at first blush. Those "audiophile" bookshelves out there may be good, but the S801s are something special. You can also "keep your drivers fresh" over time by buying another pair. This is something you cannot do with a $5,000 bookshelf speaker (unless you want to take a loss). My experience has shown me that clean, fresh drivers are critical over time. Five Star rating by far! I am stunned. Why did I buy those expensive bookshelf speakers over the past 40 years I will never know.
Pros: Great sound, low cost, bright treble, solid bass, they look good, the walnut finish has a nice "retro" look.
Cons: None, i.e., I rate "5 stars" for both sound quality and appearance.

Amazing little speakers. I purchased the Jamo S 803s from Crutchfield and they were so good I then purchased the five speaker Jamo S 803 HCS (Home Cinema System). These S 801s are the surrounds in that system. However, by themselves I found these really hold their own against the S 803s. They use the same tweeter and crossover in the S 803s but are half the size because they use a smaller woofer and are rear ported. The sound is crystal clear, imaged and expansive with bass that is incredible for their size. You can use these without a sub and would be just fine but of course, like with any bookshelf speaker, a sub is better. Just don't cram then up against a wall because of their rear port. Jamo is really doing great things under Klipsch.
Pros: Crystal clear highs and sweet upper midrange. Great punch and bass for their size.
Cons: Back of speaker needs some space from wall but you'll be rewarded.

I use them as bookshelf speakers wired to a Denon micro receiver. Sounds pretty good. The build quality is excellent, and they feel high end. To bad the logo is so big and brash on the side of the speaker, but its not a deal breaker.
Pros: Awesome looks Pretty Good sound Simplicity
Cons: Large logo on sides (not shown in Crutchfield's pictures)

Very nice speakers. I'm using them as the rear in a surround sound setting. They really sound great!

Jamo Studio 8 Series: The new Jamo Studio 8 series of loudspeakers has been engineered and designed to complement and seamlessly blend in today's modern environments and fashionable living spaces. Contemporary material and finish choices accentuate the clean, minimalist lines of this European design, while the compact cabinet architecture is an ideal solution for today's urban living environments.
Note: The Jamo Studio 8 series consists of Floorstanding loudspeakers (S805/S807/S809), bookshelf loudspeakers (S801/S803), center channel speakers (S81C/S83C), Dolby Atmos elevation speaker (S8ATM), and powered subwoofer (S808SW/S810SW).
Two-Way Bookshelf Loudspeaker: The S 801 bookshelf speaker features a 1" soft-dome tweeter for smooth, refined high frequencies, and a 4" aluminized polyfiber woofer for balanced, musical low end. The integrated WaveGuide focuses the high frequency sound for dynamic, true-to-life reproduction, while the rear-firing slot port allows for better low frequency extension.
Compact Enclosure w/ Wood Accents: The S 801 is specifically designed and engineered to provide exceptional output and balanced, full sound in almost any application despite it's small cabinet size. Wood accents give the speaker cabinet a handcrafted, natural look.
Magnetic Grille: The S 801 comes with fully magnetic grilles (no mounting holes or push pins) for a clean, minimalistic front-baffle design, while the large woven linen grille cloth features a heavy texture which finishes off the loudspeaker's modern look.
Binding Post Terminals: Each bookshelf loudspeaker is equipped with a set of binding-post speaker terminals. These binding-post terminals will accept bare wire (up to 10AWG), pin-connectors, spade-lugs, and banana plugs (single only).
Applications: The Jamo Studio 8 Series S 801 bookshelf loudspeakers can be used for the front or rear channels in a home theater system, or standing alone in a strictly two-channel stereo system.
- Placement Options: As front channels in a home theater setup or as a 2ch speaker system, the S 801 should be positioned so the loudspeakers create an equidistant triangle between the speakers and your main listening position. They should be positioned no less than 6' apart and at ear level in your seated listening position. As rear speakers in a home theater setup, the speakers should be positioned directly to the left and right of your main listening position, or just behind the main listening position at a 20° angle, plus placed approximately 6' above the floor (measuring from the top of the cabinet).
- Mounting Options: The compact cabinet of the S 801 allows for extremely versatile mounting options on a table-top, shelf, or stand. Four integrated rubber feet provide a non-slip surface. The bookshelf speakers do not provide any hardware to wall-mount the speaker, but can be wall-mounted using side-clamping wall-mount brackets (sold separately - see Accessories Tab).
