About the AudioQuest Monsoon Power Cable

Upgrade that weak link
Upgrade that weak link
The power coming from your wall outlet is the bedrock that your A/V system's performance is built on. If your power cable can't keep noise out, your audio and video experience is going to be seriously hindered. Stock power cords are the biggest culprit for interference. Their flimsy, cheap design acts like a magnet for electrical noise. Rarely will they ever have the proper shielding and internal structure to keep that noise out.
AudioQuest always aims to minimize noise, so naturally, they made a power cable that's designed to keep the bad stuff out and the good stuff in. The Monsoon-series cables help to keep unwanted noise from interfering with your audio and visual experience. This cable features a 20-amp IEC-19 plug that makes it a perfect match for the high-performance AudioQuest Niagara 7000 power conditioner/surge protector.
Serious equipment requires serious guts
AudioQuest tests each and every batch of metal conductors they put in their cables to ensure the performance is up to their standards. If you were to cut the cable open, you'd find that there are two high-purity conductor layers: an outer Perfect Surface Copper+ (PSC+) layer and an inner Long Grain Copper (LGC) core. Those two work together to reduce distortion. The grains of the conductors are non-symmetrical, meaning their grain structure is directional. The company does this to bleed noise out of the cable where it would otherwise cause unwanted distortion. It also has AQ's patented Ground Noise Dissipation technology built-in to provide additional filtering.

Product Research
Features
Monsoon Series Power Cable: The Monsoon Series AC power cable features a special 20-amp IEC-C19 connector at the component end to accommodate AudioQuest's Niagara 5000 & 7000 power conditioners (sold separately). On the other end of this power cable is a standard 3-prong North American AC connector to plug into your AC wall outlet.
RF/ND-Tech Circuit Topology: AC Ground wires may provide protection from an electrical short circuit, but they also act as an antenna. Thus, they are subject to induced radio-frequency (RF) noise. This RF noise bypasses component power supplies and is typically coupled directly into a system's most sensitive audio/video circuits. AudioQuest's patented RF/ND-Tech greatly reduces this distortion, yielding unprecedented levels of noise dissipation across the widest bandwidth (range) of radio frequencies possible. AudioQuest's unique circuit topology utilizes a common-mode phase-cancelling array, in concert with proprietary dielectric materials which provide additional differential linear filtering.
High-Purity True-Concentric PSC+ & LGC Conductors: With only Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) on the outside, Monsoon's conductors are essentially all PSC+ even though the conductor core is Long-Grain Copper (LGC). Both superior metal and conductor geometry greatly reduce ear-fatiguing Transient Intermodulation (TIM) Distortion.Uncompressed High Current Transfer: While many AC power cables feature low DC resistance in order to accommodate the demand for high current, a cable's characteristic impedance is also crucial for optimal performance. Unlike most AC cables that constrict or compress an audio-provoked transient, AudioQuest AC cables combine low DC resistance and Zero (No) characteristic impedance in order to deliver uncompressed high-current transients on demand.
Directionality: All drawn metal strands or conductors have a non-symmetrical, and therefore directional, grain structure. AudioQuest controls the resulting RF impedance variation so that noise is drained away from where it will cause distortion. The correct direction is determined by listening to every batch of metal conductors used in every AudioQuest audio cable. When applicable, arrows are clearly marked on the connectors to ensure superior sound quality. For most models of AQ cable, the arrows not only indicate the direction that optimizes metal-directionality as part of Noise-Dissipation, but also indicates non-symmetrical attachment of shield and GND in order to optimize full-system performance.
