About the AudioQuest Toslink/Mini-Optical Adapter

If you're wondering how to use your standard optical digital cable — Toslink connections at both ends — with your computer's minijack optical output, AudioQuest's Toslink-to-mini-optical adapter is a great solution. It allows for a step-down from the standard Toslink plug to a mini plug that fits the 3.5mm mini-optical jack available on many computers — probably the most common example is the dual-purpose headphone jack on MacBook® and iMac® models. This adapter makes it easy to connect an outboard DAC so you can enjoy much better sound from the music on your computer. Warranty: 5 years.

Allows me to output from my iMac mini headphone jack (which supports optical digital) to Toslink/optical cable to my DAC. I have been using USB. Using optical digital (instead of USB) will increase my digital audio quality from 96KHz to 192KHz. At least that's what my DAC manual says.... With my Sennheiser HD 600 headphones, I would expect to hear the difference. We'll see. If yes, the best $8 I ever spent. :-) Heck, it's AudioQuest. Yay, iMac, yay AudioQuest, yay Crutchfield.
