About the AudioQuest X2 Speaker Cable

Compared to commonplace 16-gauge wire, AudioQuest's X2 speaker cable reduces resistance over longer runs, so your high-quality components and speakers will get the cleanest, most accurate signal possible. As a general rule, the lower the gauge, the thicker the wire, and the better its capacity to pass amplified audio signal.

AudioQuest's cable designs come from years of in-house research and careful engineering. Their X2 speaker cables use a special semi-solid concentric arrangement that keeps the bundled strands in the same position throughout the length of the cable. The signal encounters less potentially damaging interactions and shifts in magnetic environment, resulting in sound that's clearer and more dynamic. The conductors are made of long-grain copper to ensure efficient signal transfer with minimal loss.

More details on the AudioQuest X2 Speaker Cable

Product Research

Features

Overview: This package contains a 30-foot length of Audioquest X2 speaker cable. This 14-gauge wire comes in a dark gray PVC jacket. The speaker wire is unterminated, allowing you to add your own optional connectors. The jacket features a red stripe along one conductor to help you make the proper connections.

Design: Audioquest X2 speaker cable features Semi-Solid concentric packing. In conventional multi-strand speaker wire, strands can change position within the bundle. Electrical and magnetic interaction are compounded as each strand changes position, causing distortion. Audioquest's Semi-Solid concentric packing, the long-grain copper strands within the smaller, tighter concentric bundle do not change position, significantly reducing distortion.

Customer Q&A

Q
Is the wire just one cable, or 2? I mean if you run speaker wire to a speaker that is 15 feet away do you need 15 feet or 30 feet too hook up your speaker??
[ John  May 09, 2020 ]

A
Hi John, the AudioQuest X2 speaker cable is a 30 foot spool of speaker cable. If you are using this cable to connect 2 speakers that are 15 feet away from your amp or receiver, you will be able to cut this cable to 2 runs of 15 feet. Please chat with us online or by phone at 1-800-324-9695, if you need further assistance.

This product ships as one spool of cable, totaling 30 feet. If you plan on connecting one set of speakers that are both 15 feet away from your listening source, you will need to cut the cable's length into one half. This will give you two runs of cable, and will allow each speaker to be connected 15 feet from your listening source.
[ Heath  May 30, 2020 ]
A
15 feet for each speaker, they are very good and easy to work on
[ samuel  May 30, 2020 ]
A
God bless you, you need 30 feet for two speakersEnter an answer to this question.
[ agustin  May 29, 2020 ]
A
The wire has two cables, one clearly marked in white so that you can attach it to the + - terminals of your speakers/receiver.
[ Juan  May 29, 2020 ]
A
Its just one wire with negative and positive connection so you just need 15 feet per speaker.
[ HUNTER  May 29, 2020 ]
A
Just 15 feet.
[ James  May 28, 2020 ]
A
It's a real of 30ft of one cable. So if you are hooking 2 speakers like a left and right, then you have to cut the cable. You have to measure your distance from the speaker to your amp/receiver. Keep in mind that you have to account for drop distance because the cable has to drop to the ground.
[ Peter  May 28, 2020 ]
A
The wire is one cable. If your speaker is 15ft away then you would only need 15ft of cable for that particular speaker.
[ Steven  May 28, 2020 ]
A
Each cable has 2 wires (+ and -). Only 1 cable per speaker needed.
[ Herbert  May 28, 2020 ]
A
you would only need 15ft. the speaker wire is ran in pairs and fuse tog. so red and block essentially ran 30ft. exactly how picture is
[ Brian  May 28, 2020 ]
A
Hey John, it's a regular speaker wire. Which has a negative and a positive. So it's two wires running together. So you would need 15ft... but make sure you have a little bit of slack on the wire just in case you want to reposition or anything like that.
[ Anatoliy  May 28, 2020 ]
A
It's just one.
[ chip  May 28, 2020 ]
Q
Is this wire Oxygen free?
[ Karen  May 13, 2021 ]
1 answer
A
AudioQuest X2 Cable uses long-grain copper. Long-grain copper has less oxides, less impurities, and less grain boundaries than industry standard oxygen-free high conductivity copper, which reduces the amount of interference within the cable. You can read various discussions on-line about cable design and manufacturing to answer this question in detail. Speaker cable, speakers and design are very subjective in my opinion. I am not disappointed in this purchase at all.

Im thinking on buying the audio quest 16 gauge wire do to my speakers distance that i heard if less than 50 feet apart is recommended 16 gauge. But will this work better i have cornwall iv and forte iv any advise?

It's similar to networking cable. Attenuation of a signal is real. I had 25' lengths, never know when you're going to move and retire. Why by it again, right? Over engineered? I don't know but didn't want to miss anything. I have this and it works well.

When in doubt, lower gauge the better. I would suggest 14 gauge at least! Good luck!

I went with thr G2 version. Surround sound spkrs were 38' of wire. Work fantastic! I have a Denon In Command receiver and B&W 7 Series spkrs.
