About the Boyo VTL275HD

A simple addition

Adding a rear-view camera to your vehicle expands your view of what's behind you. For some, just the convenience is enough, but Boyo's VTL275HD camera takes things a step farther, giving you a slim-profile license plate frame that doesn't call attention to itself and provides a simple, subtle mounting location. The clean, chrome design is a match for many car exteriors and it doesn't obscure your license plate, making it a solid choice in all fifty states. Boyo uses a sturdy zinc metal frame for a long life and mounts the waterproof rear-view camera on an up & down swivel, so you can get exactly the picture you want.

Excellent picture

The Boyo VTL275HD is a cut above with its enhanced 1/4" Sony CCD sensor that gives you the best picture possible, even when it's dark outside, and it's a match for any car stereo with a standard composite video input and viewing screen. The package includes a composite video cable that runs from the camera to the video screen up front.

Note: A rear-view camera provides an additional view when reversing your vehicle. It is intended to be used in conjuction with your rear- and side-view mirrors to give a fuller picture of what's behind you. It is not intended as a replacement for your mirrors.

Very low profile license plate frame camera

Very low profile license plate frame camera. Since this was on a Ford F250 pickup and the license plate is located where I step to get in the bed of the truck, I did not want a camera that stuck out from the frame as I thought I would break it with my foot. This works perfect for that. Note: My "custom" harness came with 2 wires marked CAM + and CAM --. Since the Boyo wiring had a red (+) and black (--) wire you would assume these would go together. After 1 1/2 days of troubleshooting my setup, Crutchfield tells me that those wires on the harness are only for one specific camera that goes to the Kenwood head unit. Would be nice if that had been included in the instructions specific to my vehicle and equipment.

Pros: Low profile Good quality camera

Cons: Fisheye distortion Backup lines don't bend to help with parking

I had a difficult time installing this on my 2010 Chevrolet Silverado. The manual provided is more of a specification diagram than an instructional. After fiddling with it for a couple of weeks, I could not get a display from my Sony XAV5000. So I ditched it (returning was not an option and selling the abomination to someone else would be cruel). I take responsibility for an improper installation, but I would not recommend this product.

Seems to be pretty robust, nice wide field of view, decent quality picture, works pretty well at night too.

Pros: Looks clean, heavy duty frame, can remove frame for just a top bar, straightforward install, plenty of cable length.

Cons: A bit pricey, picture quality is like 3.5/5

The camera works well, but the frame is pitted and the chrome is flaking away in less than a year on the car. I can't imagine what it will look like next year.

Looks great, clear video

Lee from Birmingham, AL on 5/23/2018

Easy install, but like other cameras, don't expect help with the instructions. Completely worthless. Clear picture and huge angle of display (perhaps too much angle). I did like the recessed bolt-head that was tightened from under the vehicle. I assume that will reduce the likelihood of it being stolen since it just cant be unscrewed. Camera also isn't that obvious to see, which is a bonus. This is the second back-up I've put in and I prefer this one over the Clarion CC520 that I put in my wife's Odyssey. Need to buy another for my daughter and will probably get the Boyo again.

Pros: Looks great, good quality video

Cons: none

Camera works well. Attractive on the car. Would be nice if it had lines to identify the left and right side of the vehicle. A bit of a challenge to run the cable along the frame and into the interior of the car. Wireless would be much easier. Overall once installed it works well and looks great.

I love this backup camera unit. The camera is so small that it does not stand out to call attention of being stolen. I ordered the chrome to match my cars rims, air fins and emblem. The video/picture shown on my new Sony AXV 100 units is very clear even at night. Highly recommend this product.

My son lives in a busy area and this camera allows him to see more clearly when he backs up. Plus, it is really a safety item that I would recommend to everyone if you don't have one on your car.

I got this to add to the Kenwood DDX 793 I had installed some months back on a 2012 Camry. I used a youtube video to figure out how to do the wiring in the trunk and to get the cable all the way to the stereo. This camera has a simple yellow aux cable for video which plugs into a dedicated spot on the DDX 793 and then a red wire for power and black for ground. The video is very clear and guidelines set up was easy (just need time to ensure guides are set up accurately).

Backup License Plate Camera: The Boyo VTL275HD is a backup camera that can be added to almost any vehicle with an aftermarket receiver that features an integrated video monitor and composite video camera input. The Boyo VTL275HD includes a backup camera with an integrated license plate mounting bracket, composite video cable, and power/ground harness.

1/3" CCD Image Sensor: The Boyo VTL275HD backup camera is equipped with a 1/3" color CCD image sensor with a 520 TV line horizontal resolution.

Wide Viewing Angle & Angle Adjustment: The VTL275HD backup camera offers a 170° wide viewing angle, so you can see more of what's behind you. You can also physically angle the camera up and down on the license plate bracket.

Waterproof (IP67): The Boyo VTL275HD features a waterproof (IP67) housing to protect it from the elements. It's totally protected against dust and protected against the effect of immersion between 15cm and 1m for the duration of 30 minutes.

Composite Video Output: The Boyo VTL275HD backup camera if fitted with a composite video connector (RCA) which makes it compatible with virtually any in-dash receiver with integrated video monitor and a composite video camera input. The total length of the composite video cable is 26'.

License Plate Frame Mounting: The Boyo VTL275HD backup camera features an integrated license plate frame which mounts around your vehicle's rear state license plate (mounting hardware is included). The VTL275HD's ultra-slim license plate frame is made of metal and is street legal in all parts of the United States.

Note: The Boyo VTL275HD is designed to work best on vehicles that have a license plate located at the center and above the rear bumper. If your vehicle has a plate location that is offset to the left side, right side or your plate is located under the bumper then the VTL275HD may not provide optimum performance.

I bought other products from Crutchfield in the past and when I had issues, they were there for me. I had a problem with refurbished amp. Picked the phone up and my adviser solved my problem in no time. I have compared prices for this rear view camera and actually found one for $10.00 less.
