Active parking lines

Be more precise when you back up with active parking lines that curve as you turn. This cam predicts your trajectory and shows you where you're headed in reverse so no spot is too tight.

A great picture

Boyo uses a CMOS image sensor that gives you the best picture possible, and they include a composite video cable that runs from the camera to the video screen up front.

Installing this camera yourself? Here's what you should know.

What does it do? Unless otherwise noted, a backup camera is only intended for use backing up your vehicle. (If you require a front-view or constant rear-view camera, check for that capability.)

What tools and supplies will I need? A panel tool, a wire cutter/stripper, a soldering iron, and a rosin-core solder with heat shrink tubing are recommended, along with whatever tools are needed to remove the radio from the dash.

How much wiring is required? Wiring instructions vary from camera to camera. Some cameras have power wiring that can only be connected near the radio. Others let you power the camera at compatible reverse lights. In all cases, the camera must be wired for power and ground, the camera's video output must be connected to the radio/monitor, and the radio/monitor must be connected to a reverse trigger in your vehicle. Some radio replacement interfaces supply a reverse trigger wire for the radio -- using that wire to power your camera will damage the interface.

Will the included video cable be long enough? You'll need to route the camera's video cable from its mounting location outside your vehicle into your vehicle's cabin and all the way to the screen in the dash. This often requires drilling a small hole in your vehicle or filing some metal and or plastic. You'll also need to estimate the length of cable needed to run from the camera to the dash, which will not be a straight shot. Each camera's cable length is listed.

Product Research

Overview: The Boyo VTL425TJ backup camera features an integrated bracket designed to mount to any license plate. The built-in CMOS camera can provide a clear, 140° (diagonal) wide picture of what's behind your vehicle, even in low light conditions.

Note: The Boyo VTL425TJ is meant as a driving aid only; never solely rely on the camera. In addition to using the camera, always look around you to make sure everything is clear.

Universal Fit: Along with the built-in license plate mount, the VTL425TJ provides a total of 29.5' of video cable, allowing it to be installed in most consumer vehicles. The camera angle can also be adjusted up or down to match any license plate height. The included 4-pin video extension cable gets run from the rear of the vehicle to the front. A 14" adapter is provided, converting the 4-pin cable to a standard composite video plug, allowing it to be used with most aftermarket in-dash video screens. The camera includes a built-in 31" video cable with 4-pin connector.

Wire Loop Switches: The VTL425TJ includes blue and white loop wires on the 4-pin-to-composite video adapter cable that can be used for selecting or de-selecting Dynamic Park Assist Lines and Image Selection.

  •  Dynamic Park Assist Lines: The Boyo VTL425TJ will display park assist lines on your connected monitor to aid you in backing up into a parking spot. A built-in gyro-sensor allows the park assist lines to dynamically curve as you steer and angle your vehicle. The camera comes default with the parking guide lines On; cutting the blue loop wire will remove the parking guide lines.
  • Image Selection: Designed primarily as a backup camera, the VTL425TJ's default display is a Reverse (Mirror) image. If a Normal image is desired, or if the camera will be mounted on the front of a vehicle, the white loop wire can be cut for a Normal display.

Weatherproof: The Boyo VTL425TJ's camera and zinc-plated mount carry an IP67 rating for long-lasting outdoor use.

Customer Q&A

5 questions already asked

Is this compatible with the Boss BVCP9685A?
[ Pat  May 03, 2022 ]
1 answer
I have the Boss BVCP9685A and it works fine with it. Nice picture and trouble free so far.
[ BEN  May 06, 2022 ]
can you invert the camera to mount this on the bottom of the plate instead of the top?
[ TODD  Apr 21, 2021 ]
1 answer
This one cannot, but we have others that can be mounted upside down with the camera rotated so that it is still right side up making the image look as it should. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695to check for current options

How well does it work at night? Doesn't say it is IR
[ MARK  Nov 30, 2020 ]

The camera is dark at night, but when you put the car in reverse, the reverse lights brighting it up good.
[ JASON B  Dec 01, 2020 ]
No complaints, I think its a very good backup camera. Obviously it's better in daylight than darkness but it is a good camera in my opinion for both. Also a good idea to familiarize yourself with depth perception once installed.
[ ANTHONY  Dec 01, 2020 ]
Your reverse lights do light up the area a little. So far I haven't had any problems seeing at night. But I also do not daily drive the car I put it on. I'm very happy with this product.
[ GEORGE  Nov 30, 2020 ]
As a backup camera, my backup lights always illuminate the dark, and works nicely when I hitch a trailer in the dark. So unless using in another capacity, IR not necessary imo.
[ KALEN  Nov 30, 2020 ]
Sorry, I can't help because I've never used it at night!
[ BILL  Nov 30, 2020 ]
I have a pioneer DMH-1500NEX, would this work in this unit?
[ MICHAEL  Aug 04, 2020 ]
2 answers
This is a universal rear camera, so it should work with pioneer unit. As long as the pioneer unit has the hook up for a rear camera. This camera is a really nice good quality unit, I put it on two of my cars already.
[ GEORGE  Aug 05, 2020 ]
As long as you have an input for the camera should work. Mine has been working flawlessly.
