About the Klipsch CDT-2800-C II
Enjoy great sound throughout your house with Klipsch® CDT-2800-C II ceiling-mount speakers. Their high-tech design and solid construction deliver ear-pleasing results for movies or music. Use them as surround sound speakers in an all-Klipsch home theater, or install them in pairs for stereo listening with your multi-room audio system. Either way, you'll experience accurate Klipsch sound without the clutter of conventional speakers.
Ready, aim, music!
The '2800-C II's tweeter gives you 100-degree dispersion, and it swivels, so you can aim the sound precisely where you need it to go. You can even rotate the woofer a full 360 degrees and tilt it up to 15 degrees in any direction. This flexibility gives you full, detailed sound no matter where you place the speaker.
Horn technology for room-filling sound
Because high-frequency sounds are more directional than bass frequencies, it's especially important to target them toward your ears. Klipsch places their tweeter inside a flared opening, known as a "horn," which disperses the highs evenly across your listening area. This design brings out details in everything you listen to, while reducing reflections that can color the sound. The horn also improves dynamics and efficiency, for powerful, "front row" sound that remains crystal-clear at all volume levels.
Slimmer chance of being seen
The '2800-C II keeps a low profile with its SlimTrim™ magnetic grille. The visible frame size is reduced by 90% and grille depth is reduced by 80% over previous designs, for a nearly flush finish that blends in beautifully. The paintable, aluminum, magnetic grille attaches securely with ease to virtually eliminate resonant distortion.
An optional in-ceiling bracket is recommended for installing the CDT-2800-C II in new construction.

Speakers installed easily. Sound is great. Deep bass and clear mid and high range. Painted covers to match ceiling and hardly noticeable. Spray painting and paint applied easily, clean, quick.

Sound is good. Expect more dynamic speakers for the price. You will not be disappointed but you will also not be wow'd

We used these as rear channel speakers. They have only been installed for a couple of days at a customers house. I was emailed by the owner on the day after installation. The email said that the speakers sounded great and he was ecstatic with them
Pros: easy install, great sound tweeter as well as mid
Cons: no "D" ring to tie off speaker wire in case someone trips on it in the attic. I may be off base with this but would have assumed that was standard

I purchased these speakers for my home theater room to be used for the 7 channel middle of the room ceiling speakers. They have an excellent sound with crystal clear highs and midrange and very good low frequency. I do have a Dalquest sub woofer for the very low end frequency. I also have Klipsh surround ceiling speakers for the back suround which have 2 tweeters instead of just one. Both the surround and these speakers feature rotatable speakers that can be angled and the tweeters can be moved also. I have them aimed down and towards my sitting area. These speakers along with the surrounds are very good. My JBL main speakers which have horns like Klipsh have more bass but they are in cabinets If you are building a home theater room and want excellent sound for your 7 channel speakers or surround these speakers will provide what you need.
Pros: Excellent sound and magnetic grills that cover entire speaker
Cons: Not enough bass compared to cabinet speakers really not bad though for a ceiling speaker

Controlled Dispersion Technology (CDT): The Klipsch CDT-2800-C II in-ceiling speaker features a patent-pending gimbal mechanism, known as Controlled Dispersion Technology (CDT). The tweeter and woofer are independently adjustable, allowing both the high and low frequencies to be directed toward the listening area.
High Efficiency: The high-efficiency design of the Klipsch in-ceiling speakers allows you to get much more output than most in-wall and in-ceiling speakers. Due to the long speaker wire runs that are common in whole-house audio systems, the power coming from the amplifier is significantly reduced by the time it reaches the speakers. The 93dB efficiency of this speaker means it will play much louder at low power than other less-efficient speakers.
2-Way Driver Design: The Klipsch CDT-2800-C II uses a high-quality 1" silk dome compression driver (tweeter) mated to an exclusive Tractrix Horn, combined with a 8" polypropylene woofer in a 2-way design.
- Tweeter: There is a 1" silk dome tweeter mated to a swiveling 100° Tractrix Horn. The swiveling horn design dramatically increases efficiency by enabling the speaker to produce more output using less energy. The horn-loaded tweeter allows you to point the sound to a specific location, and has more controlled directivity than a conventional dome tweeter.
- Woofer: The 8" polypropylene woofer can rotate a full 360°, and then shift 15° in any direction. This dense, yet lightweight, polymer cone can reproduce authoritative bass.
Speaker Terminals: The speaker has a pair of spring clips that can accept up to 12-gauge wire or pin connectors.
ABS Basket/Frame: The CDT-2800-C II has a sturdy ABS basket and frame. The frame can be painted to match any decor.
SlimTrim Magnetic Grille: With an all new grille, the visible frame size is reduced by 90% and grille depth is reduced by 80% over the previous design, for a more edge-to-edge consistent look that blends in with the wall more attractively. The new aluminum, paintable, magnetic grille attaches tightly and securely with ease to virtually eliminate resonant distortion.
Power Specifications Note: The manufacturer has specified the maximum power handling of this speaker as 50 watts RMS (200 W Peak). Klipsch has also published a recommended amplifier power specification as 100 watts.
Installation: The speaker can be installed in new or existing construction. It requires a cutout diameter of 9.8125". For new construction, purchase of the IK-800-C installation kit (714IK800C, sold separately) is highly recommended. For existing construction, the speaker should be installed in drywall at least 3/8" thick. It can also be installed in a drop ceiling (2' x 2' or 2' x 4' ceiling tiles only). In both cases, to maximize the acoustic performance of the in-ceiling speakers, Klipsch recommends you replace the original mounting panel with 1/2" or 3/4" plywood or MDF. A cardboard template is included to assist you in making the cutout.
