Klipsch Cinema 400
Richard from Haymarket, VA on 11/18/2022
Well constructed and great looking. The performance of the system sounded great but had an intermittent problem with static in the subwoofer. I opted to send it back to Crutchfield and purchase a different brand since this one showed to be out of stock.
Pros: Crutchfield customer service is as good as it gets. They sent a UPS shipping label to attach to the item for return. I dropped it off at a UPS center and had the confirmation the next day that Crutchfield received the item and was being processed for a refund.
Cons: none

Sound is average. LEDs on the front must be dimmed or turned off every time the sound bar is activated. Worst of all, even when connected via HDMI / ARC the sound bar must be manually turned off; otherwise it permanently remains on. The 'dialogue' function is useful.
Pros:
Cons: No automatic turn off

A Keeper
Crosse from Gainesville, VA on 6/5/2022
Surprisingly good. I've been using a JBL 2.1 soundbar with its included subwoofer and have been pretty happy with that, but the Klipsch 400 is a step up in sound quality. I leave the voice enhancement and simulated surround sound on all the time; both work well and add significant value. It's possible to control the volume using the Roku remote if its connected via ARC (but not optical). Sound, as is typical for Klipsch, is bright and crisp and clean and clear, which is great if that's what you're looking for (I have other Klipsch speakers that I'm also quite fond of). More EQ options would be nice, but I'm very happy with this one - it's a keeper.
Pros: Great sound, voice enhancement, simulated surround, great value.
Cons: Limited settings, have to shut off irritating LEDs every time I turn on the TV, can't control value using Roku remote if connected optically.

Klipsch Cinema 400
Mark from Henderson, TX on 5/10/2022
Good sound. Great bass. I was wanting a "fuller" sound. It's a 2.1 system so I found out that my old 5.1 sounded better. Music sounded pretty good. The movie Pacific Rim had dialogue that was hard to hear with all the other effects going on. But for what is a entry level soundbar it was good. I did hear some scratchy buzzing out of the subwoofer on one TV show. And it did pop when TV was turned off. Traded in on the Bose 900 with Bass module 700. It's excellent but for the price, it ought the be.
Pros: Simple true plug and play install Great bass
Cons: Lacks mid range sound

Setup was a breeze, liked the lights to indicate status of the soundbar. Dialogues are clear and my wife is happy to see the series. The challenge to the bars with Star Wars and Transformers movies is a must to see and heard!
Pros: Esay setup, clear Dialogues, awesome bass and indicating lights.

Greenfield
Jason from Greenfield on 3/1/2022
Sound is ok. My biggest issue is that the sound bar will not play Atmos or any 7.1 surround sound, not even as simple stereo. Because most new blu-ray discs now usually contain 7.1 or Atmos, it makes most new movies unplayable on the sound bar. This isn't made very clear that this incompatibility exists which makes it frustrating when a blu-ray that played on my old TV speakers will no longer play on brand new tech. One thing I can promise is the result of this rare research mistake I've made, I will never purchase a sound bar again. For those movie collectors who, like me, prefer to have physical disks of their favorites instead of hunting down the movie or having to remember the name of the movie to search on one of the many streaming sites that exists and is just growing, do not purchase a sound bar unless it is the highest end version for full compatibility. At that point, you might as well purchase a receiver and proper speaker setup.
Pros: Compact Good sub If streaming and music are all that you do, this will suffice.
Cons: No support for most adopted high end sound such as 7.1 or Atmos. This is a back breaker in my opinion as many blu-ray discs only support english sound in those compressions. You get picture and dead silence otherwise. Unless you speak another language, you can get options at 5.1 which the sound bar will support poorly.

Good sound, tough to connecy
Stephen from Centreville, MD on 1/25/2022
The sound from the Cinema 400 is great, but I have had an issue getting it to work with the ARC HDMI connection. I was hoping to get this working so it would control my TV like the JBL 3.1 Bar did. I wound up having the connect using a Toslink Optical cable to get any sound out of it, but once I did, the sound is awesome, just what I expected from Klipsch.
Pros: Great sound
Cons: Could not get ARC HDMI to produce sound or control my TV like JBL did.

Decent bar sound quality and good thump from sub
Michael from Washington, IL on 1/18/2022
Sound bar has nice sound quality and a few settings (surround, dialog) that allows for some customization. The accompanying sub puts out a decent amount of thump when watching TV (sports, movies, etc.). Definitely better than the Samsung HW-A650 that I returned for the Klipsch set.
Pros: Good sound quality from the sound bar. Sub has good low end coverage.
Cons: Would like to have an adjustment knob for the sub, but the remote helps with that a little.

Looks can be deceiving
Crutchfield customer from PRESQUE ISLE, WI on 1/15/2022
This is overall a disappointing experience where the sound quality does not match the brand name or the exceptional build quality of the system itself. The booming subwoofer overpowers the sound bar and it has to be turned almost to its lowest setting to balance it the sound somewhat. Bass and highs are exaggerated while midrange is muted; the volume has to be turned way up to hear dialogue well. There's very few options for changing sound modes and the dialogue mode doesn't do much to enhance voices at lower volumes. Surround mode is unimpressive and ineffective. Overall, the sound quality and performance does not measure up to the older $140 2.1 Vizio sound bar that it was supposed to replace. It works great with TCL TV with HDMI ARC connection but the convenience does not justify the mediocre audio performance.
Pros: - Build quality - Packaging - Appearance - Massive subwoofer - Works seamlessly with our TCL TVs
Cons: - Mediocre, unbalanced sound; NEEDS MORE MIDRANGE - Very few adjustments or options to change sound profile - Dialogue is muted unless volume is turned way up - Subwoofer overpowers the sound bar

Great Sound from Connected TV
Ian from Marriottsvl, MD on 1/11/2022
I have the Klipsch Cinema 400 connected to a Sony Bravia TV. The voice correction works great. Where we used to have closed caption on while watching movies, we can now hear conversations very clearly. The sound quality is excellent overall as well, including the BlueTooth connection to smart phones and tablets. Two things to consider. One is that the Surroundsound setting can be distracting, particularly for sporting events. But you don't need to use that option if you find it annoying. Second, we used to have our TV set up with a multichannel stereo receiver. Sometimes the TV seems to seek out that output device rather than the Klipsch Cinema 400. I haven't figured out why this happens. When it does I need to do a factory reset on the Klipsch.
Pros: Beautiful, full spectrum sound and effective voice enhancement.
Cons: Surround Sound option can be annoying.

Love the sound, just what we were looking for, and reasonably priced. Downside is ANOTHER remote. TV remote can be programmed to control volume, but just doesn't work with cable remote, so need two remotes to really control the TV and sound. Wish we would have understood this when we purchased. Also, the included remote has flaked out a couple times.

Great sound bar for the price
Brad from OMAHA, NE on 10/5/2021
This replaced a JBL Bar 3.1, which I was mostly happy with until the sub started to fail. I particularly liked that the JBL unit had a dedicated center channel speaker in the bar, making dialog much clearer and more distinct. But since that model is no longer available, I looked to get something similar for less than $300. This Klipsch unit seemed to fit the bill - it doesn't have the same dedicated center channel speaker, but does have a great dialog enhancement mode. The sub on the Klipsch is smaller than my old JBL, but has plenty of deep crunch. It sits 20 feet from the TV and sound bar, and holds the wireless connection perfectly. The sub was automatically paired as soon as I plugged it in. The sound bar also has a virtual surround setting that works well - the directional pushing of sound is pretty advanced simulates a surround experience well. The overall sound quality is really good for movie and TV watching - significantly better than the JBL. I don't use it much for music-only, but for movies it has great high-low range that adds to the immersion and realism factor. And it can get very loud. My only complaints on this unit and the reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that it doesn't have an auto-off mode, and for me that's important since my smart TV turns on overnight to check for updates, and that triggers the sound bar to power on through HDMI ARC connection. It also doesn't remember the LED brightness setting so it always is full bright when powered up. Great unit!
Pros: Excellent sound quality Deep bass from sub Dialog enhancement Virtual surround setting
Cons: No auto shut-off LED brightness setting resets every time it is powered on

Solid basic sound bar-subwoofer combo
Crutchfield customer from Tampa, FL on 9/26/2021
I purchased this soundbar after realizing that my 2019 Samsung TV does not offer Dolby Atmos or other high-tech audio capabilities, and I am not willing to purchase another TV just for that. It was the correct size for my room; there is a distinct overall improvement in the audio quality. Placing the subwoofer all the way in the corner produces just the right dimension of bass, the surround sound, and dialogue features are effective. I have an outstanding stereo system and I was not looking for a device to compete with it. HDMI ARC worked great and made the setup easy: it did take three attempts to pair the subwoofer with the soundbar, but since that time I have not experienced any problems. The remote is responsive and I really like being able to remotely adjust the level of the subwoofer. I purchased from Crutchfield as I felt assured that I would be able to get the I needed if necessary.
Pros: clarity of audio, no need to purchase a soundbar with extra high-tech audio capabilities if your TV does not support it.
Cons: for my basic needs: none

Chris from Fort Wayne on 5/26/2021
I had to wait a couple of days to set this up due to painting, and getting rid of an old shelf type system. Setup was so easy, using the ARC with HDMI and the wireless sub. It was finally hooked up and WOW! First thing we noticed was the clarity of the sound bar. It is amazing. So, then we tried playing some music through the system. Now, we have a 10" Klipsch sub in the living room, that will shake the neighbors house! I wasn't expecting a whole lot out of an 8" sub-woofer but, I figured, it would be fine for the bedroom. We were shocked how much bass is produced from that little box. This system sounds incredible, as well as the other Klipsch speakers I have purchased.
Pros: Clarity of the sound bar. The rich, deep bass produced by this little box.
Cons: None, to speak of.

Exceptional Sound for a soundbar
Crutchfield customer from Parker, CO on 3/1/2021
I started out with the Polk Magni-fi mini, and I wasn't really impressed with the soundstage, which was probably limited to its size (speakers not far enough apart). I went with this Klipsch as it was rated more for sound quality than anything. I am pretty impressed with the sound. It has excellent clarity and the soundstage is much wider than the Polk. I read that the surround mode was not impressive, but I disagree, this is probably the best virtual surround I've heard on a bar. It doesn't make the sound tinty, where the sound is unnatural. The surround won't replace actual surrounds but this does the job. What is impressive is the sound quality. They have excellent flat sound across the board, vocals are crisp and clear, explosions are loud and overall, it doesn't sound like the 5-6 soundbars I've heard in the past. The sub isn't room shaking, but it gets loud and doesn't distort (no bass farts). The down firing driver adds a little oomph to the low end. Highly recommend!

Simple set-up, works ... but disappointing sound quality
Matthew from Vancouver, WA on 11/30/2020
While I've been pleasantly surprised with the quality of sound from some previous Klipsch soundbars (R10 B), I was disappointed by the sound of this Cinema 400 product. At least it has separate tweeters and the drivers face the listener, so it will be an improvement over the built-in sound of most modern flat panel TVs. The soundbar itself is weak, though, because the midrange drivers are so tiny. The midrange drivers are NOT 3" cones, but tiny "racetrack" ovals smaller than 1.5"x 2.5". The sound is only clear at low volume levels and there never is more than high-frequency sound coming from the soundbar. Therefore the crossover point for the sub is set too high, leading to distracting, localizable sound coming from the sub. There are some positives, though. The set-up is a breeze using HDMI-ARC. It all just works right away. There are a good mix of input options (HDMI-ARC, optical, 3.5mm stereo, BT). I like the available control over relative sub-volume and front-panel lighting (bright/dim/off).
Pros: Quick, simple set-up using HDMI-ARC Non-resonant MDF enclosure Clean, simple aesthetic
Cons: Disappointing sound quality
