Product Research

Klipsch IK-502-W II Install Kit: The Klipsch IK-502-W II rough-in kit offers increased mounting flexibility for select Klipsch 5.25" in-wall LCR speakers. The IK-502-W II incorporates a mud ring breakaway wire tie and color-coded brackets for easy speaker size identification. A flat side with a raised wall allows it to be mounted directly to a joist making it much easier to align the speakers with other items in the ceiling. The kit also comes with perforated metal wings that easily fasten to the studs via screws staples or nails. Ribbed for increased rigidity these wings enable a kit to span up to 24" easily. Painted white for easy marking and placement these metal wings will fold around the edge of the studs if necessary.

Compatibility: The IK-502-W II rough-in kit is compatible with the following Klipsch 5.25" in-wall LCD loudspeakers.

  • PRO-250RPW LCR
  • PRO-25RW LCR
  • DS-250W LCR
  • R-5502-W II
  • R2502-W II

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

Can these brackets be used if it is an existing construction? I.e. the wall is already up.

No, because you'd have to be able to get access behind the wall to be able to get the straps connected to the studs. You really don't need to use it if you already have drywall up though, as the in-wall speakers are meant to go into hollow drywall and then clamp back down onto the back of the drywall.
[ Mark  Dec 26, 2020 ]
If "the wall" equates to drywall versus the studs/framing and no drywall, I'd say no for two reasons: 1. It is not necessary. The speaker brackets will mount seamlessly to the drywall. 2. It will be very difficult/impossible to anchor the bracket to a stud. I installed these pre drywall and they worked great bc the drywall crew knew exactly where/what size to cut out the speaker openings.

No this is for new construction. I.e. before drywall goes up. It just allows for easier installation because the hole is cut during drywall installation like for power outlets and light switches.
