Add punch to music and movies

Klipsch's R-100SW powered subwoofer features a 10" spun-copper woofer that's powered by a 150-watt RMS amplifier. • 150-watt RMS amplifier (300 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 32-120 Hz

Highly Recommended Deal

I use this just barely with the pair of R-51Ms on my desk. Sure beats "computer speakers". This is a system I use in my music studio to analyze my performances and to listen to performances of all styles. The 100SW adds enough quick low end and avoids murkiness. Overall it is a very reasonable addition to small or medium-sized system.

Great Klipsch subwoofer

Crutchfield customer from East Aurora, NY on 7/21/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This is actually the 2nd r-100sw I have to round out my 7.2 home theater. Have one of these in the front and one in the rear. The original price is usually $350, but it goes on sale for $175 usually twice a year. It's not worth the 350, but 175 it is. Sub is easy to hook up and sounds great, esp with the 2nd one. The sub has LFE on the left channel but you can also use patchcords if desired. Over all I think it's a great sub. I have the 820F towers, 25C center, r15 sides and r-14 rears. Overall I'm happy with Klipsch and would recommend this sub for those looking to buy. If you have the money.. the r-120 12" version would be my ideal one but it's double the price.

Pros: Ease of use, when on sale it's a great buy, plenty of bass

Loads of power in a smaller footprint

Crutchfield customer from Wheaton, IL on 4/4/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

A relatively compact footprint with 150 watts of power - plenty for my 14' by 17' room. If this is your first true subwoofer, make sure to get an LFE subwoofer cable long enough to give you placement flexibility. I combined this with Polk Audio center channel, bookshelves and satellite speakers and the sound is breathtaking, without speakers dominating the room. I couldn't be happier with the performance and Trish from Crutchfield matched a competitive price on this subwoofer to make it an even better deal.

Great sub for the price I paid!!

Cory from Sharon, WI on 2/24/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

So let's clear one thing up first. You can not compare this to a $1500 sub. You have to keep in mind the price point it sells at. Now that being said, I got this on a great sale price with free shipping and couldn't be happier. This subwoofer is not the last word in resolution and I believe in my environment it is a little boomy for music, unless we are playing boomy type of music. It adds a great deal of low end to my Polk signature s55's during movies, and because of that, I could not be happier.

Pros: Plenty of oomph during movie playback! Small enough to fit into tighter areas.

Cons: A little boomy for my taste during music playback.

I bought these speakers for a new home my wife and I are building. We are probably about 4 months from actually installing them in the new home. For this reason, I hooked everything together to 55" TV and blue ray player to make sure of the working condition of the components. Sound awesome sitting just 4' apart. There is no doubt that this equipment will give us exactly what we were looking for . Thank to Cole for all of the help in putting together this system. Items purchased together: 1 Ea - Denon AVR Model S64OH 1 Ea - Polk Audio In-Wall Dual Center Channel 255C-RT 2 Ea - Polk Audio In-Wall Daul 265-RT (Front R&L) 2 Ea - Polk Audio 6-1/2"; 70-RT (Rear R&L) 1 Ea - Klipsch R-100SW 10" Powered Sub-Woofer

Super efficient subwoofer!

Michael from Riverview, FL on 1/8/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

First thing I noticed about this sub was its light weight. I was a little concerned that there would be cabinet resonance. When I connected it to my bedroom system, I set all the speakers to "small" and the crossovers to 80hz. Then turned off the built in low pass system because I was using the bass management in my Marantz pre/pro. Lastly, I set the volume control to 12 o'clock and put on some music. This sub is so efficient that it about blew me out of the room. I would suggest setting the volume ALL the way down and then gradually turn it up while playing a bass heavy track. Try different locations to eliminate any booming and you'll find that with some proper adjustment, this is a fine sub for the price. This works nicely in my bedroom.

Pros: Good for a budget system. Experiment with placement for best result.

Cons: Light weight cabinet VERY efficient, be careful first time you play it.

Features

10" Woofer: The Klipsch Reference series R-100SW powered sub is fitted with a powerful 10" copper-spun IMG (injected molded graphite) front-firing woofer for deep bass. The copper-spun IMG woofer is exceptionally light while being extremely rigid, providing remarkable low frequency response with minimal cone breakup and distortion. The front-firing woofer gives you greater placement flexibility than a down-firing woofer.

150 Watt Class D Amp: The Klipsch R-100SW powered sub employs an all-digital 150 watt RMS (300 watt Peak) amplifier for high efficiency and dynamic bass performance. The built-in, all-digital amplifier of the R-100SW subwoofer delivers ample power with high efficiency and true-to-source accuracy reproduction - thus providing maximum output, detail, and power that fills your home.

Rear Firing Port: The R-100SW's enclosure uses a bass reflex design with a rear-firing port for greater efficiency and bigger bass.

MDF Cabinet: The R-100SW is housed in a durable MDF cabinet and finished with a scratch resistant, textured wood-grain vinyl. Its reinforced MDF construction reduces cabinet vibration for less audible coloration and improved sonic accuracy - giving you the ultimate listening experience that's built to last. There are heavy-duty rubber feet on the bottom of the cabinet to help isolate the subwoofer from your floor. The included low-profile front grille adds a refined look and is acoustically transparent.

Controls: The level control, low pass crossover, and phase control allow you to blend the powered subwoofer's low-frequency tones with your system's other speakers, as well as establish the ideal level of bass.

  • Level Control: The level control adjusts the subwoofer's volume relative to the rest of your home audio system. After the sub's level control has been set, the volume control of your AV receiver will be the volume control for both the Klipsch powered subwoofer and your connected loudspeakers.
  • Low Pass Crossover: The variable low pass crossover is adjustable from 40-120Hz. The crossover point chosen determines where low bass frequencies are "handed-off" from your AV system's loudspeakers to the Klipsch powered subwoofer. Set the crossover point based on the size of your systems' main left/right speakers.
  • Phase Control: This control is used to acoustically match the subwoofer's output to your main speakers. Select the position either 0˚ or 180˚ in which your subwoofer has more output at the listening position.

LFE/RCA Inputs: The Klipsch R-100SW powered subwoofer is equipped with a pair of line-level RCA-type inputs to connect the sub to your AV receiver or integrated amplifier.

  • LFE Input: Most of today's AV receivers have a line-level subwoofer output (LFE). If your receiver has an LFE output, connect one end of a subwoofer cable (sold separately) to this output and connect the other end of the cable into the powered subwoofer's line-level input labeled "LEFT/LFE". Set the powered sub's built-in crossover to "LFE" with this type of connection.
  • Stereo Input: In absence of a subwoofer (LFE) output on your receiver, as an alternative hookup, you can connect Left & Right channel pre-amp outputs from the receiver to both the "Left/LFE" and "Right" inputs on the powered subwoofer.

LED Indicator: The front-mounted LED power indicator lets you know when the sub is powered on or off. The LED will light green when the powered subwoofer is on and receiving a signal. If the LED is dark and not lit, the powered sub is off.

Auto Power On/Off: The powered subwoofer will automatically turn On when it senses an audio signal. It will automatically go into "Standby mode" after 15-20 minutes with no audio signal. You can also choose to turn the powered sub On or Off manually from the rear-switch on the back.

Placement: Klipsch powered subwoofers are designed to reproduce deep bass and deliver the impact that makes your movies and music come alive. For optimum performance, place your subwoofer in a corner of the room on the same wall as your front channel speakers. Please note that room placement can have a dramatic effect on the performance of your powered subwoofer. Corner placement, as suggested above, will increase the amount of bass output, while placing the subwoofer along the middle of a wall, or out in the room will decrease the amount of bass output.

In terms of specs, they are the same, at least on paper. In terms of looks, R10SW matches the older series such as the R-15PM series while R100SW matches the newer range such as the R-51PM series. Super confusing. I have both subs and I prefer the R100SW because the power cable is detachable.

How do connect the powered subwoofer to R-15pm shelf speakers. One has a mono output and the other a pair of RCA input?
[ Wayne  Sep 29, 2018 ]

A
lug the SUB OUT of the speaker to the LFE input of the subwoofer. On the subwoofer, turn the Mode switch to ON, not. Auto. That way, it won't require an input signal of a certain level to turn the subwoofer on. The subwoofer should then go Green by default. See if that works.
[ Benjamin  Aug 08, 2019 ]
A
With a single subwoofer cable.
