Compliments an Existing Subwoofer

Wayne from St Augustine, FL on 2/18/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I purchased one of these subs to compliment the sub we already had in our den. We now have one on either side of the sofa. Front placement is not practical due to bookcases. Sound now fills the room evenly. Before it felt (at least to me) that the sound was biased to the side with the single subwoofer. I was a little leery about purchasing a "scratch and dent" model but this one is just shy of perfect. There are two hairline scratches, each about 2 inches in length, that cannot be seen unless you are within a foot of the speaker cabinet. So far sound is flawless. I'm still experimenting with placement. For now, this is what the owner's manual recommends.

Pros: Small footprint, accurate base, cost

Cons: None so far

Kwame from Charlotte, NC on 2/6/2019

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

If i could give it 10 stars i would. This thing is crazy. i was hunting by RMS to get what i wanted for bass. But lord Jesus if this thing didn't blast me out my chair. First of all lets just say she is sexy ( ive named her ebony ). It can go with a crazy color scheme of your room, And this thing HITS!!!! and gets more powerful overtime for some reason lol. I paid for it and got it delivered. I have no regrets. However if you live in a neighborhood where they steal packages be careful. Its shipped in its box so it shows the logo and picture of the sub on the box. luckily for me it was delivered at night when i was home. My neighborhood isn't awful we just had a small package stolen from our stoop recently ( probably kids). But i digress, buy two of these. im just being greedy but 1 you will love, 2 you'll be a home entertainment bass god.

Pros: Bass Beauty Brawn

Cons: Zeroooooooooooo!

I was looking for a replacement for my Carver Sunfire sub that died. It was almost 20 years old and spectacular sound. The 10SW was a great replacement especially for the price point. I'm still working on tweaking the gain and crossover levels but overall it was a very good choice. It delivers a very tight bottom without that boom sound so characteristic of other subs.

Crutchfield customer from Columbus, OH on 1/17/2019

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Purchased this to replace a 10" Polk sub that died after 8 or so years. The driver looks like a much nicer piece than the Polk. The bass produced is just adequate in my 14x17 room, a 12 or 15" sub would probably have been a better choice. Volume adjustment took some time to dial in to provide enough bass without being boomy, it's touchy. Klipsch suggests placing sub in a corner, that's not possible in my setup so that may be part of the problem. If I were to do it over again I might buy the cheaper Polk or larger sub in another brand.

Pros: Good apparent build quality. No rattles from the cabinet.

Cons: It's a 10" sub. Set expectations appropriately and you'll be happy.

I bought this along with an Onkyo TX-8220 stereo receiver from Crutchfield. Sounds great next to a pair of Yamaha 3 way speakers I had. The bass is awesome! It has an adjustable crossover which is nice since the sub pre out on the receiver is full range. Also, there's an auto power on/off feature so you don't have to turn it on and off.

Pros: Adjustable crossover, auto power on/off

I really enjoy the sound from Klipsch Reference speakers! I purchased this Klipsch Ref. R-10SW to replace an old yamaha amplified subwoofer that finally bit the dust. It is paired with a Klipsch Ref. R-12SWi. These subwoofers really sound good and the R-10SW is a great improvement over the Yamaha. I recommend this product and the company I bought it through. Crutchfield stands behind their sales and offers great customer service.

Excellent bass, good and tight and clear.

Patrick from Bonney Lake, WA on 1/8/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This small sub is awesome. It took about 1.5 hours to find the sweet spot with the other Klipsch speakers that i have. These are set up in my turntable room. 2 RP-500M speakers and this sub. Along with an Audio-Technica turntable and a Yamaha RX-V995 AV amplifier. The sound is stupendous. Listening to Beatles Abbey Road, song 1 "Come Together" will knock your socks off. The bass is clear, tight, and the long strum of a certain note can be heard for what seems like minutes. It truly epic. I also own the Klipsch R-115SW 15 inch sup and I thought I would be disappointed with the 10 inch sub. Not so this thing rocks. I would recommend it. It is critical that you set it up right, positionally, and with the proper settings for gain etc. But once you get it dialed in prepare for a long listening session. I have not tested the sub for movies since it is dedicated to my turntable room.

Pros: Not huge, great sound, pretty easy set up. The value proposition is very good.

Cons: I would not recommend this for large rooms or for BIG bass in surround sound. But it would work good for surround sound and produce big bass in a smaller sized room.

Great little sub! My last Klipsch sub was a dual 12" reference which really pounded, but cost way more than this guy. Started with one in the front and decided to add a 2nd in the rear (wireless) to even things out. First time trying that and it sounds amazing. These things can seriously fill a room with bass!

It's a little "boomy" for my taste, but some of that should work out as it breaks in. That said, at the sale price less a little more for an open box deal is a tremendous value.

Amazing sub. Sounds great, the bass is tight, no muddled sound what so ever. I bought 2 because they were so inexpensive. Didn't talk to anyone, ordered online and they arrived as scheduled and no damage, cudos to UPS I'm surprised about that. I have both subs turned down to about 1/3 and I still can't turn up the stereo too loud because I live in an apartment but it gets loud enough. Thanks to Crutchfield for the excellent prices. Will definitely buy from them again and again

The Final Touch To My Dolby Atmos Surround Sound Home Theater System!

Michael from Charlotte, NC on 12/9/2018

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

WOW! I thought my previous subwoofer was doing an excellent job until I bought two of these Klipsch Reference R-10SW Subwoofers on sale. These subwoofers complete my Klipsch Surround Sound Dolby Atmos Home Theater System. I now have 4 Klipsch Bookshelf Speakers, 2 Klipsch Dolby Atmos Speakers, a Klipsch Center Dialogue Speaker and the 2 Klipsch Subwoofers. I couldn't believe the capability and explosiveness of these subwoofers. It took me a while to tame them, using the setup adjustments on my 4K Receiver as well as the adjustments on the back of my subwoofers. I actually had to turn them way down to get them properly blended. I went with a pair of subwoofers instead of one subwoofer in order to have a more well balanced bass response. I am very pleased with my purchase of the Klipsch Reference R-10SW Subwoofers as I have been with all my purchases from Crutchfield.

Pros: Excellent Quality, Easy Setup, and Quick Shipping combined with Crutchfield's Low Prices, Efficient Customer Service and Follow Up.

Cons: NONE!

I added this subwoofer to my surround sound system (Klipsch also) so now I have two sub woofers.....! Talk about awesome.....excellent choice for action thriller movies.....! Sale price was unbelievable.......! After talking to my Crutchfield advisor Peyton.....I decided to add this item to my setup....and WOW...! Very impressive...! Easy set up, easy placement in my room, and it has added the low levels I was seeking. I read up on this subwoofer prior to calling Crutchfield, and couldn't be happier with the addition to my home theater.......!

Peter from Waxhaw, NC on 11/15/2018

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I purchased this as "scratch and dent". The outside carton was damaged but the sub-woofer itself was flawless. I already own a pair of Klipsch R-15PM powered monitors and wanted this to compliment the sound in my home office which is a relatively small room, about 12X12. IMO the overall look of both the monitors along with the R-10SW is beautiful. I love how the copper cones contrast with the smart black textured finish. The beauty of a sub-woofer is that it's not something that is going to jump out at you. It's there in the background just complementing the sound experience. My R-15PM's sounded fine but the sub woofer gave it a finishing touch. It has all the controls that you would expect from a quality subwoofer and sound excellent. Construction appears to be high quality. I highly recommend it.

Pros: Looks, construction quality and sound.

Cons: could be lighter in weight but not really an issue.

Amazing Bass, how Sweet the Price!

Edwin from Washington, DC on 11/13/2018

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

The Klipsch Reference R-10SW is one amazing subwoofer. It will be difficult to find a better sub (fit, finish and performance) at this price point. I am tempted to buy another Klipsch Reference R-10SW for a dual sub set up even though one is more than enough... The super low and power bass took me by surprise even at low volume. Even though it was half the price of my Elac Debut 2.0 SUB3010, it delivered a different kind of punch that brought a smile to my face. Now, to be fair to the Elac, this sub is better suited for movies while the Elac is more musical. The fit and finishing on the Klipsch Reference R-10SW has a 100% WAF. Wifey saw this sub and asked me why don't I refund the Elac instead...But we all know that real men do not return any audio equipment...so after much pouting and tantrum throwing, I was able to keep both...lol.

Pros: Super powerful. Super low bass. Good shipping carton. Subwoofer was well packed and arrived in pristine shape/condition. Crutchfield's amazing customer service!

Cons: No bluetooth/wireless volume control/adjustments for the lazy me. Your neighbors are going to hate you.

Klipsch Subs are the Best Value

I think Klipsch subwoofers are the best woofers for the money. I just replaced an 8" Klipsch sub that I had for about 15 years and they are pretty much bulletproof. This 10" sub sounds fantastic once you dial it in with your speakers and find the sweet spot in the room. I've never gone wrong with Klipsch and you won't either.

Purchased this subwoofer to complete my home theater system and so far it has been great! I have it plugged into a Yamaha receiver and it complements the rest of my Elac speakers well. I was a bit worried about tone matching with the miss matched brands, but the Crutchfield tech said not to worry about it. This sub way out-performs subs way above the price range. I have the gain set at about 25% and it is more than enough for my small apartment. The sound is punchy, but a bit boomy, but that's probably my fault in placement/balance though since most people don't seem to have this problem. The auto-off feature is really handy too!

Purchased the R-10SW to replace a Polk Audio PSW110 10-Inch Powered Subwoofer that died 4 years 6 months after buying it. While Polk has a 5 year speaker warranty, the amplifier warranty is just 3 years, and the amplifier is what died. Reviews indicate that this is a common problem with the PSW110. Instead of paying for a Polk replacement amplifier I decided to try the Klipsch. So far I am happy with my decision because the Klipsch has a much tighter and refined bass sound than the Polk.

Fantastic $120 Sub. Too bad it costs this much

I'm honestly still trying to place/tune this sub. I had an older 8" powered sub that fizzled out, however it was great. I love Klipsch, and am using this with my Klipsch 2.5 speakers. I have a household full of Klipsch, 5 pair, and have been using them for years and years. It has a tendency to pop while not at a very high level. Also the bass rolls off on the lower end then comes back very boomy. So it almost cuts out, before coming back loud/boomy. I'm still trying different placements, closer/further from walls. I've tried 2 different receivers as well as different cables. While it's certainly not bad enough to warrant sending it back, it's just not as good as I expected. I probably hoped for a bit too much.

Pros: Powerful.

Cons: A bit overpriced. I'm starting to think the crossover could be better.

Bought this to go with my R-15PMs and it pairs perfectly. I use this setup as a 2.1 system for my tv and play music via Amazon Fire or Bluetooth. The sub handles both the music and movie soundtracks well - you can feel the SFX. Another advantage with connecting to the R-15PMs is you can adjust the sub volume via the remote control right from your chair. This is great if you're just watching tv and don't want huge bass or are coming to your favorite part of a movie and want the neighbors to know it. Highly recommend this sub. Great value!

You have to be careful with this subwoofer, which is admittedly my first. It is very powerful, some would say too powerful. This subwoofer doesn't just play sound, it moves your body. The impact can be too much on your ears if not adjusted. I had to learn how to adjust the subwoofer output on my receiver. Then I adjusted the HiPass so signals down to 50 Hz (cycles per second) were sent to the Klipsch. Then I adjusted the output so it was down 3 db (-3 db). The end result varies with the source. If there is a lot of upper frequencies of bass, you'll probably hear it well. But on some CDs, the bass player plays very low notes and is barely there. You'll hear him on this Klipsch, but it doesn't have the sonorous qualities I believe most would expect. I've found that I adjust both settings periodically if I feel the bass output just isn't right. It would be nice if Klipsch provided a remote so that volume could be adjusted easily. That's the last adjustment I manually make on occasion. Overall, I'm confident of the qualify of construction, materials, etc., and it looks like I'll keep the unit. But I can't help wondering what sound I'd have gotten if I ordered a Polk Audio sub to match the rest of my speakers.

Pros: Abundant, tight bass.

Cons: You might get a headache if you don't know how to adjust various settings.

I bought the R-10SW to replace a 20 year-old repurposed NHT Sub. Many years ago, I purchased a pair of Klipsch reference bookshelf speakers along with a center channel for my "playroom". Now that the kids have left the house, I have reclaimed the playroom and upgraded the AV system. I'm really impressed with the R-10SW. It makes the existing system sound that much better. I also like the compact size as compared to the large and bulky NHT sub. I've become a big Klipsch fan!

Pros: Compact size. Big performance. Integration with existing Klipsch reference speakers.

Cons: None. Read the manual along with your receiver manual to make sure you get the most from this sub.

Love it. The design is understated and unobtrusive, and yet elegant without the cover. The sound is wonderful.. the gain let's me quickly tune for my mood; either subtle or boomy. Most of the time I have it subtle to complement the Klipsch r15m speakers. Works perfect with my 2.1 setup for movies and music.

Pros: Design Sound Build quality

Cons: Three way power switch on the back feels flimsy, and I'm not sure the auto power on actually works.

I moved my system to a larger room so I upgraded to the R10SW. I listen to 70-80s rock, CDs and DVDs through a Yamaha receiver, Project turntable and Klipsch 5" bookshelf speakers. All I've ever used is Klipsch and the THUMP of the Klipsch Sub always brings a big smile to my face. Plus I bought it as an always reliable Crutchfield Open Box special.

Pros: Awesome Sound! Awesome Value! Awesome Deal!

I bought this to replace a very old, very huge powered sub which had gone to subwoofer heaven after making irritating noises for months. I got a good deal on the new Klipsch from the Crutchfield scratch and dent with no noticeable cosmetic issues, it arrived from Virginia to the Virgin Islands in a couple of days, it fits where it needs to fit and does what it's supposed to do. I have a Yamaha receiver with a subwoofer preamp output and YPAO automatic speaker optimization, so I followed the instructions and everything sounds great--no worrying about settings on the sub itself. I was going to buy new home theatre speakers but the old ones sound fine now. I'm particularly impressed with how much clean bass this sub produces for its size [and price].

Auto shutoff stopped working after a couple of weeks.

Ralph from Westons Mills NY on 3/21/2018

I like this sub but have been disappointed in that this unit's "auto" shutoff stopped functioning. With the toggle set to "auto" , the green front side "amplifier on" indicator light remains on all the time even when no signal is present. I might also add that the metal toggles in the back are rather flimsy and tiny and could use a beefier, larger and tougher metal toggle switches. Minor issue, but use a light touch when you adjust those so they don't break.

Pros: Size was just right for my application.

Cons: Needs sturdier switch hardware.

Klipsch R=10SW Subwoofer exceeded my expectations. I have it turned up only about 25% and have sufficient base response. If turned up further, base becomes dominant and greater than necessary. A real base lover could get all the bass he should ever want. It produces low notes that I did not even realize were in the transmission or recording. Highly recommended

Pros: Should be enough bass for anyone.

I bought this sub to replace a 20-year old Infinity 12-inch sub that didn't seem to be working very well. The Klipsch produces plenty of bass for the 25' by 13' space we use it in. It is every bit as loud and bass-ey as the 12-inch. It really shines on action movies.

Just hooked up my new Klipsch R-10SW subwoofer to my recently purchased Marantz M-CR611, and I couldn't be more pleased! As I mentioned in my review of the receiver, how it made my old Altec bookshelf speakers shine, the subwoofer adds a dimension to my music listening that I've never experienced before. I love classical music, and the drums and bases show up like never before. The gain can be adjusted to the room and other speaker characteristics for a perfect listening experience.

This sub rocks! I have it plugged in to my Denon AVR-W2300X and it sounds incredible along with my R-26F floorstanding speakers, and my R-25C center speaker (I have some little Harmon-Kardon satellites as surround speakers but they are hardly worth mentioning). Before this sub, I was using a Harmon-Kardon 100W down-firing sub (which is now supplementing this one). That sub was pretty decent, especially considering the price, but this Klipsch sub not only sounds much better, it also looks much better. I'm already trying to work a second one into my budget.

Pros: Sounds great Looks great Detachable feet allow SVS SoundPath Subwoofer Isolation System to be used

Cons: Bass is so deep and full that I feel bad for my roommates sometimes.

It's just the right size and power for a smaller listening room. I use it to add deep bass when playing background music at low levels. Of course it provides a nice boost for movies, too. Currently I have it set to the mid volume setting, so there's reserve for special situations where more LFEs are desired. It's probably all the sub-woofer that most people need.

Pros: The sound is very clear.

Cons: I like the brushed (textured) vinyl finish; it adds a touch of class to the product.

Excellent Sub and Great Value

Dan from Sanford, NC on 7/26/2017

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I give this sub 5 stars for value, bought at a terrific sale price. With that said, it is far more than a "budget sub." As others have noted set up is simple, but of course it would be as you are dealing with a power cord and a cable. But there is more to "set up" to make this sub shine. My 5.1 system includes an older Denon AVR, Klispch K15 L/R and a KC-15 center. In ceiling surrounds by Yamaha round it out. Careful placement of the sub along with properly running Audessy (room correction from your AVR) makes the appropriate teaks necessary to make any sub sound right in your room. Without correction any sub can sound "boomy" This Klipsch R-10SW sounds tight, crisp if you will, and handles the deep lows from LFE tracks perfectly. One note about LFE tracks is that some are just a low frequency rumble that some folks will describe as "boomy" when in fact it is the LFE track that is "boomy". As for music, I used Moody Blues' "Story In Your Eyes" as my comparison track. My old sub is a Polk, 50W, 8" sub from a package deal. It was OK for a first subwoofer but could not do the job in a newly expanded great room. Playing the track with the Polk I could not discern the base line at all. There was some low frequency "something" but no discernable bass notes. The Klipsch brought the song back to life as I know it, you know it, and the American people know it. As for power, this sub has more than I need, even in a fairly large room with 14' vaulted ceilings. Love it!

Pros: Crisp, tight bass for both HT and music. Nice compact footprint.

Cons: If there is one it might be the rear porting. But that is unique to my configuration.

Nice warm smooth bass to accompany my R 15 ms. Loving it for all music genres... can really boom if you want it too. I did the split rca cable rather than the single cable going into the left side. I think it made a difference for me.

Pros: Very powerful - you will need to adjust to your room. I have a mid size apartment living room and even keeping the bass tight - which I normally do- still gives is punch and smoothness.

Cons: Not a con per se - but a heads up. It can boom - so you need to be realistic in an apartment. I got some floor feet for it in lieu of a rug for now. But I keep my bass tight and it still gives more than enough at a tighter setting. I am totally digging it, myself. But this matter can be quite subjective in as much as how much bass one requires. I like jazz, rock, rock and blues - techo folks may need more and may prefer the next model up. I think this is more than enough...

I am using a Sony STR-DN1070 receiver and Polk Monitor 75T main speakers and Polk S35 center and this thing sounds great! It took a little time to tweak in the crossover freq vs the volume but once I found the right combination, wow! This has a ton of bass, I do not even have the volume half way. My room is approximately 15X12 in a open floor plan. I am not sure what a more expensive sub would do for me.

This sub really rocks my 15' x 18' living room home theater! It is paired with Klipsch RP-250F floor standing speakers and an Onkyo TX-NR656 AV receiver. I have to turn the sub down much lower than the Onkyo AccuEQ auto speaker calibration sets it at. It really rounds out the overall sound of the system and I like it very much for the price. (I just could not bring myself to spend $700 or more on a bigger or higher rated sub.) It excels in movies and does pretty well with music (I frequently like to listen to a variety of music at somewhat high volumes). Overall, this sub is a great value and I am very happy with it!

Pros: Very substantial capability, especially with LFE in movies

Cons: Sub could be a bit tighter on some demanding rock and prog rock music

Great improvement in my home theater experience

Joe from Vonore, TN on 12/17/2016

I purchased this 10" subwoofer, rather than the 12"', because its footprint was smaller and best fit the layout of my media room. While I was concerned it might not produce the theater-like experience I was looking for, that was not the case. After experimenting with placement / settings for a short time, I found that this speaker exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend it.

Pros: Smaller footprint, with an awesome clean bass reproduction that compliments my Klipsch R-24F's. This SW has the capability to shake the walls of a room that's about 19' X 29'. It was a great choice.

Cons: None

Filling in the gap

I purchased a pair of Klipsch r-15pm speakers a couple of months back and this subwoofer just finishes the package. The R-15PMs were lacking in the low end spectrum of sound and the addition of the R10SW filled the gap. For the past 6 years, I was using a Bose lifestyle t20 for all my audio needs. Comparing that system to my Klipsch setup, I feel that the R-10SW reaches lower lows and the R-15PMs put out better mid range sound that the Bose definitely lacks. My current set-up is located in my living room which measures 20'x25' and opens up to our kitchen. Whether I'm in the kitchen cooking up dinner or lounging in our couch, the Klipsch puts out magnificent sound. This set-up is great for both movies and audio listening.

Pros: Reaches lower frequencies compared to my Bose lifestyle acoustimass sub

Cons: None so far

This 10" subwoofer was all I needed to round out the sound of the Klipsch powered speakers in the second bedroom AV room. Easy setup. On sale made it an easy decision.

Pros: Plenty of low end for my space. Easy setup.

Cons: In a small room takes up a fair amount of floor space.

Im using the subwoofer in a large basement with a pair of Heresy and KG4 speakers. The 10 inch was overwhelmed. Nice sound, just small.

Pros: Easy set up and small foot print

Cons: Sound propagation is limited. Cheap finish for a klipsch , no matter the cost

Klipsch R - 10SW

The Black wood grain is cheaply made. It is easy to scratch because the grain or grooves are prominent or higher. I carried the sub woofer a few feet not realizing I had a pen on my chest and left its' mark. I was not even putting too much pressure on it. This is why I gave it only 4 stars. The amplifier runs cool to the touch. This sub is an add on to the Bose Acoustimass 5 single cube speaker system with a 5 1/4 inch sub I set up at the Family room 13 years ago. Sound wise, it is more forgiving than my old Infinity BU 2 with a 100 watt amp and a 12 inch woofer. The R- 10SW is the replacement & won't rattle the kitchen cup boards which I prefer. Not "boomy." Without the Bose 5 1/4 inch sub, I would have needed two R - 10SW's for a 30' x 30' family room not including an open kitchen. It gives me a hard hitting lower end (bass) sound and the Bose gives me the mid bass sound. When I move to my next home, I want to buy 2 more expensive front firing Klipsch 10" subs for a family member with a better and smoother wood grain finish as a present. I like the sound reproduction of R -10SW's.

Pros: hard hitting lower end instead of being boomy. Amplifier runs cool.

Cons: wood grain finish is cheap. Easy to scratch.

I needed a sub with a smaller footprint for a system in my den. Could not be happier with the sound and clarity, it adds so much to movies and TV show. I placed it in an entertainment center and the rear port has a tendency to rattle the back of the cabinet. I had to dampen it with a towel...small fix. Was not an issue when I had it outside the cabinet.

Pros: Small size and great sound

Cons: None

I am still testing this speaker in my home theater setup. I have made a couple of passes setting up the audio calibration using the auto setup for my receiver. Thus far the speaker sounds great but I am not convinced that I have maximised the settings.

Pros: The speaker is well constructed and looks great. Excellent bass response.

Cons: Documentation has a lot of room for improvement.

I had a Yamaha powered subwoofer for about 11 years and never really gave it much thought.I knew something was wrong however, when I turned it on recently. " Buzz crackle thump crackle! Now what? I called the only source that I had sealed with in the past and spoke to a representative by the name of Ziggy. This man knew everything about subwoofers and recommended the Klipsch R-10SW for my needs. I have to say that I am throughly pleased with the service and the product . Was my audio purchase a 10+, you bet it was. Buy with confidence from Crutchfield , they know audio!

Pros: knowledge and service.I do not as a rule respond to companies who ask me for a rating but in this case I make an exception. They hire great reps who are the to answer everything you wish to know about a product.

Received my Klipsch R10-SW shipment in 3 business days as advertised. The installation was very easy as well as the setup adjustments. The base is solid and clear with a lot of punch. It really adds depth to movies and augments my Klipsch center channel and front left & right speakers. I have been doing business with Crutchfield for more than 20 years and have always been impress with their Tech support both pre and post sales. Just can't say enough positive things about Bill Crutchfield and his team of audiophile experts. THANKS to all of you that have helped me over the years !!

Pros: Excellent solid base sound with good punch. No loud rumbling base distortion at all.

Cons: When set to the Auto-On mode it does not usually auto power up even after exhausting many advised solutions. May just have to leave the power switch in the ON position.

Little sub: big power

After I had my AR-12 powered down-firing sub loose function, I searched for a suitable replacement. I love the Klipsch brand though I have not been able to spring for the other main channel speakers from K (with time....). Picked this up "open box" from C-field for a discounted price. The cabinet is well made and not super flashy, the on/off light on the front can easily seen through the screen. The material of the actual speaker is able to be seen through the screen - and the front firing design is just as strong as the 12 it replaced. For music (my primary use) - this sub is accurate and delivers clean strong bass (connected to my Denon 23xx receiver). For TV/Movies: this sub is an upgrade for sure versus the AR-12 I had. My only question will be durability and longevity of this unit.

Pros: Small cabinet, clean design. Powerful but not 'overpowering'.

Cons: Price. ...but if this gives me an 'appropriate' life then I will overlook the expense.

After Tweaks, Great Sound

Adding this to complete a surround system with older B&W speakers. Also bought Audio Quest Black Lab cable to connect. After tweaking gain etc. on sub to adjust to room, placement, and other system components am enjoying the clean base notes I like. My B&W speakers were powerful to begin with, but this adds a new dimension of power to music and movies. Can rumble the walls and rattle the windows if I crank it, which I don't usually do. Have to give a shout out to Klipsch for their packaging. My box arrived looking as if someone had taken a few good whacks with a claw hammer or hatchet. Speaker was in tact, unmarked and undamaged, so very well protected in the box. Also a shout to UPS during holiday season. Speaker was delivered at 9 PM a couple of nights before Christmas.

Pros: Clean, crisp, powerful, adjustable.

Cons: Lack of documentation for controls. I've found help on Klipsch web site but think there should have been a bit more in the users' manual.

This is a pretty good sub for the money. I Did however get it for an awesome price. This sub has plenty of power for my room, I think I have it turned to about 1/4 on the gain. I would however say that is a little boomy, I still have some work to do on getting the levels set correct. Overall I would say that for the money this is well worth it and I have no complaints.

Pros: Plenty of volume. Fairly small cabinet.

Cons: Seems to be a little on the boomy side

The R-10SW is the perfect addition to my home theater system. I'm using Klipsch RB-61-II fronts, RC-62-II center and CDT-3650-C-II in-ceiling surrounds. The R-10SW really rounds everything out. The auto on-off is a plus as is the gain control. Great sub and now everything is excellent sounding Klipsch products. This is a great sub for anyone looking to add that final touch to a system. Great price from Crutchfield made it that much better!

Pros: Sound, auto on-off, gain control, size.

I had been eyeing this subwoofer for weeks -- and weeks -- waiting until the holidays to buy myself a Christmas present. I checked one morning, saw that it was on sale at half off, but that the speaker was out of stock. I immediately set up an online chat and asked the sales rep if I could order one at the sale price even though they were out of stock. Yes! And so I did. The speaker shipped in about a week. What a treat. Happy with the sound quality, and quality of workmanship on the speaker itself, which is why I stick with Klipsch. The item's webpage lists its measurements, but somehow when the speaker arrived and I actually pulled it out of the box, it seemed larger than I expected. Big is always better.

Pros: Great sound and quality. And the packing in which the speaker was shipped was most impressive as well. No chance for damage unless it got run over by a truck!

Cons: I have the speaker in a corner of the living room behind the front speakers so it's a bit cumbersome to get to the controls on the back.
