About the Klipsch Reference R-10SWi

High-quality bass made simple

Klipsch knows how much fun it is to have your own home theater. They also know that running a long cable from your receiver to your sub can be challenging. So they've equipped the R-10SWi with wireless signal transmission — this power-packed sub can deliver deep, impactful bass anywhere you have a power outlet.

Klipsch R-12SWi Reference wireless powered subwoofer

The wireless transmitter plugs into your receiver's sub output, and sends high-quality bass across the room.

How it works

This sub's "secret sauce" is how Klipsch transmits low-frequency effects. The included wireless transmitter plugs into the sub output on the back of your receiver (sometimes labeled LFE). Simply plug the transmitter and the sub into an A/C power source and you're ready to rock.

Wireless signal transmission offers flexible placement

There are two huge benefits to using a wireless subwoofer. Not having to snake a long sub cable across the floor keeps kids, pets, and gear safe. And having placement flexibility for your sub can significantly improve your system's bass response. We recommend trying your sub out in a few different spots around the room to see where you get the best performance.

Want some tips on getting the best bass in your room? Check out our subwoofer setup guide.

Amazing performance at a great price

I replaced an 8 year old 10" Polk Audio powered sub that I thought sounded pretty good with my Polk Audio RT Series 5.0 High Performance in-Wall/in-Ceiling Home Theater Speaker System (2-90RT, 2-265RT & 1-255CRT), and Yamaha RX-V683BL . The Klipsch blows the old Polk out of the water. Great, tight low-end without distortion in my 16' x 32' room. Plenty of bass at 1/3 volume.

Good for what it is...

Michael from Knoxville, TN on 6/7/2019

Here's the thing: in all cases an add-on subwoofer is a partial solution to something that would not be necessary if a) speakers were truly full range, and b) the listening room could be designed around the low frequencies. Since neither of those two criteria are usually the case, a subwoofer is the best solution for low frequency propagation. Placement is the key. Also, for huge 'sound' (felt more than heard) in a large environment, you'll need a bigger cone, or multiple subs. This sub is relatively small, so won't fit the bill if that's what you require. That said, experimenting with placement will likely make a huge improvement. I found the best location for my listening room was on a side wall, not between the main speakers. But you have to be willing to experiment. In any case, for the price, how can you beat it? Also, Crutchfield shipped quickly, and painlessly. Kudos to them. First rate organization.

Pros: Inexpensive.

Cons: Takes some experimental work.

Best sub for money

Crutchfield customer from Saginaw, TX on 6/6/2019

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I replaced an old mbquart sub and let me tell you it is night and day!!! My gosh the surround sound on my system was being drowned by the old sub and this new one hits 3 times harder and the crossovers in this thing is tuned way better to actually create bass when it needs to. My wife is now bothered by me shaking the walls in the whole house. While dialing it in just right I had light fixtures on the ceiling rattling, pictures falling off the wall, etc. I think I found more flaws with my house than I realized. I had to move things and tighten things all through the house to kill all the rattles. For the money you can't beat it. Love the wireless. It gave me a lot more locations to place it to find the optimal sound stage. I have it paired with Klipsch quintet system and Marantz head unit in medium sized living room.

Pros: Great bass, awesome wireless, great power, great price

Cons: None

Been using this for two weeks and this sub performs exactly how I expect it to. Plenty of bass in the 20x24 space I am using it in. Wireless connectivity is a nice plus and works like a charm. Very nice sub at a great value.

Pros: Good bass output. Wireless connectivity.

Cons: I wish it wasn't 17" deep but that's pretty common for a 10" sub.

Loud, clear bass. Plenty of headroom. I currently have the gain set at less than half to match my 5.1 surround (Bose 201, VCS-10, 161; Yamaha A/V receiver) in a medium -sized room. This sub should be able to match much larger systems and rooms. I have not used the included wireless transmitter, but i appreciate the flexibility it could provide for future applications.

Setup was easy, good instructions. This unit has plenty of power for my setup, which is just a lower end Yamaha reciever with 2 speakers. After getting it dialed in right, I've completely forgotten that it's there... Which I see as a good thing.

Pros: Plenty of power for a medium sized room. Wireless set up was flawless.

I purchased my first Klipsch R-10SWi about 6 yrs. ago. I'm so impressed with its performance, I bought another one a week ago when I started building a 2nd stereo system for our dining room. This subwoofer is well made and the wireless feature works flawlessly. There are two knobs at the back, where you can adjust how punchy or loud how you want the bass to sound. This speaker can make your windows rattle, if this is your style of listening. It's very well made; nothing cheap about this product. The price $ is outstanding for the over all feature and quality of this speaker. I highly recommend this speaker.

Pros: Very $ affordable, well built, & good quality. Sound is excellent and can contour how punchy the bass sound comes out.

Cons: None.

This wi-fi subwoofer was purchased as a return at a reduced price. A small wi-fi box is included which connects to the rear of most receivers. Set up is mostly basic, not much to it. The issue I had was getting the Klipsch synced to my Yamaha RX-A3080 receiver. The Klipsch kept turning itself off. After a couple of days scratching my head and with the help of the Crutchfield crew, I found the proper sound programs and surround decoders in the Yamaha's AI function which analyzes content. Problem solved!

Pros: Easy set up.

Cons: Syncing the subwoofer to your receiver. The volume knob is quite sensitive.

This subwoofer is worth every cent. I've had it about two weeks and I consider it an upgrade to the one I had before. I changed from the Polk PSW10. This Klipsch is miles ahead. Far more defined and gives tighter bass. More powerful as well as I had to adjust down the subwoofer level in the receiver plus the volume knob at the back is at about quarter. The Polk was just over a half way. I don't think it has broken in yet as I haven't used it as much as I would like so far. But I've used it for music and movies over the last two weeks and it goes real deep. You can safely make the decision to try this sub as it's definitely worth it.

I paired this subwoofer with my older Klipsch KSB 3.1 speakers for a 2.1 setup. The speakers needed a sub for the lowest octave. This pairs very well and blends excellently with the speakers. I've got great full range sound now. I'm mainly using the setup for music and occasionally for TV and movies. For the location that I have it setup in I have more than enough output. Setup was a breeze. Plugged everything in and enabled the sub output on my receiver and had bass.

I did my homework and looked at reviews in which i made up my mine. Glad i did. I love this sub overall! I previously owned a poke sub and won't say anything bad about it BUT glad i made the move... When i crank up my Denon AVR 2105 receiver with my vintage Garrard ZERO 100 turntable and/or my TEAC 4300 7'' real to real tape deck the BASS IS TREMENDOUS . iF you have a avg. room 12'w by 23'lg this will work!.. I give it a 5 star rating!

Pros: quality/performance/value

Cons: none

Little larger than I thought it would be. Set up was easy with Crutchfield helping me with Onkyo AV receiver setup menu. Given optimal location, decided that cable connection would be better than WIFI, so had to buy a single RCA cable. Adds a lot of depth. Am playing music again vs just using home theater for TV. Great!

Pros: Energizes my aging system.

Cons: Another piece of furniture in the room.

150 watts rms? Way underpowered for most rooms. Spend a little more and get at least a 12" driver and you will see a world of difference.

Pros: Good price and wireless built in

Cons: Underpowered; many 12, 15 even 18" powered subs available that will make this model seem obsolete. You get what you pay for.

10SWi Wireless sub works as advertised. At a great sale price, how can you beat it! Gave me great flexibility in getting my subwoofer out of view (under a Den table between 2 couches). You cannot see it-but sure can hear it. Only connected a few days but no apparent problems with sync of the "hidden" sub. My wife is happy. Happy wife happy life! She is ecstatic over the new setup that I designed with the help of Crutchfield tech support. You cannot see the sub anymore! NO standing left and right front speakers-which she would not allow! Upgraded to Klipsch 250Cs (piano black), normally a center channel, for the left and right front. Great sound, look terrific, and they each fit on a single shelf in the audio cabinet around the TV. Bought on sale at Crutchfield. I also have a Klipsch 450C center channel (also piano black), which sounds & looks spectacular, & fits under the TV. Great compromise for those want true and outstanding home theater sound without the big footprint, room clutter and price tag. I would put this system up against any costing twice as much. Got all the units within the last few month during Crutchfield and Klipsch sale. Topped it off with a Panamax MR4000 power conditioner/surge protector (on sale at Crutchfield at the time)-so all my power is supplied and managed neatly in the cabinet. Is it absolutely the best system-no! But do I feel like I compromised at all-NO!. Sounds & looks great; no clutter; reasonab

Pros: Provides great flexibility and sound for an extremely reasonable cost.

This a GREAT speaker, but the manual provided with it is pretty weak! Why would such a successful company that produces such excellent products provide such a weak instruction guide on how to sync and setup the product??? However, the product is Excellent, and as always, the price and shipping from Crutchfield is Excellent. I'm using the wireless Klipsch subwoofer with an Onkyo TX-8270 receiver which drives two pairs of vintage (1971) Pioneer speakers (99A & 77A) and it adds ultra low frequencies that add to the listening enjoyment of the system. I'm very pleased with everything I've ever purchased from Crutchfield, and when I've contacted them with questions, they've always been over-the-top with help, info, and advice.

Pros: Very easy to hook up. No need to run speaker wires. Gain adjustment is great to match the low frequencies to your speaker system.

Cons: The instruction manual is almost useless.

The first time it rumbled in a movie it scared my wife and she thought it was a big thunder outside. Loud and Proud

I have a medium sized living room with wood floors and 10 foot ceilings. Hooked this up wirelessly to the dedicated sub-out on my Yamaha RX-V483 receiver, on which I needed to adjust the digital crossover (to 160 hz) and digitally turn on the sub-out in the speaker settings. Then I synced the sub to the receiver, turned the sub's gain to half, and used the YPAO configuration microphone to automatically balance the sub with my built-in wall speakers. After the YPAO configuration, I cant turn the sub's gain up past 1/4 or it will sound like a Kanye West concert in my house. The sound is more than powerful enough for movies, music, and tv. The quality of the bass/punch is top notch. I was worried about a wireless lag or signal delay, which I have experienced in some bluetooth wireless speakers; but this RF unit has zero delay. Not sure how it will hold up over time, but my first impression is "5 stars"!

Pros: High audio fidelity; no signal delay; its wireless; relatively low cost; looks good; seems sturdy. Im glad they provide a grill to cover the the copper (orangeish bronze) colored woofer.

Cons: Ships in manufacturers box (dont let this sit on your porch very long after delivery or it could be seen, targeted, and stolen). The unit is pretty big in my living room. Sound can be overpowering if you dont balance to your existing speakers as well as adjust the crossover + gain + phase accordingly.

The subwoofer was delivered in good condition, on the date promised. So far I have been very impressed with it and Crutchfield. I have never had a active subwoofer before, it definitely adds to the listening experience, especially watching action movies with sound affects. It was easy to set up in conjunction with my Yamaha RX-V775 receiver. I researched subwoofers, and while I am a Polk guy, Klipsch sub's are more reliable and this appeared to be the best "bang for the buck" in Klipsch's product line. I have it in a large family room and it generates more than enough bass. So far, very happy with the purchasing process at Crutchfield and my new subwoofer.

Pros: Best "bang for the buck" Easy to set up Flexible subwoofer solution, works with either hardwire or wireless configuration

Cons: None

I bought this to round out the low end on my 2-channel music-only system. I was skeptical that "only" a 10 inch sub could make much difference. However, with the Klipsch RP280F speakers and Yamaha RN803 receiver, this really completes my system. Anything larger would have been overkill.

Pros: Low end to spare

Bought this for my home theater as a 2nd SW on the opposite side of the room where wired connection was not an option, and the wireless functionality is fantastic. This is one monstrous, powerful, house-rattling beast of a SW. The build quality is amazing. The sound set-up and adjustment is very straightforward, and it sounds just great.

Pros: Build quality, wireless functionality, fine-tuning of sound.

Cons: It's pretty big (but that's not necessarily a con!)

Wounderful addition to existing Def Tech BookShelf SM45 system

C. C. from Ithaca, NY on 12/9/2017

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Just bought this R-10SWi WiFi sub to couple with our Definite Tech book shelf speakers SM45 in office room via Polk Audio Omni A1 Play-Fi amp (which has a sub out). We have used the Def Tech SM45 to stream Pandora all the time during work. The addition of the Klipsch R-10SWi sub via WiFi really improve the listening pleasure due to the extension of the frequency beyond the low end of the SM45 speakers. The sub has more than enough power, and I have to use low vol so it won't overpower the SM45 speakers. The base is thundering, but a little bit too booming, wish it would be tighter. Overall, it is a wonderful addition to our existing Def Tech SM45 bookshelf speakers in term of sound quality and frequency range. Would definitely recommend it as an addition to music listening. We have a SVS sub dedicated to movies and Pandora streaming in the family room.

Pros: Wonderful thunderous base quality Excellent complementary to our Def Tech bookshelf SM45 speakers Small footprint with wife approval factor Very easy WiFi setup to link to our ASUS ac router, just plug in and it recognizes immediately.

Cons: essentially none, just wish the base would be tighter.

Revamping our surround system and added this wireless sub along with the wired 12" model. Together they complement each other. Baught specifically to be able to add to any spot in our living room, since the 12" is near the tv stand. The wireless function has been flawless and the sub sounds amazing. Still in a break in period so I expect it to sound even better if it's possible. The Klipsch suns out power my last one which was an Onkyo 10" HTIAB set up. Had to turn these down to keep pictures on wall during movies. Truly spectacular.

Pros: Wireless has been flawless. Sound is rich and deeper than previous sub

Cons: None to speak Need to keep walls from rattling The inner kid in me giggles every time I use them.

I purchased this for a formal living room setup to support 2 Polk 70-RT in-ceiling speakers for only music purposes (no tv/movies). It was a great deal for the sale price. The wireless works great. My stereo receiver is in a media cabinet in the kitchen and the sub is on the far side of another room behind walls. I would guess about 25/30 feet. The sub itself is a little muddy and I have to keep the gain turned down to about 2/3 to avoid the over boomy sound. This is not going to be high end sound if that is what you are looking for (as compared to my theater). However, in my application totally acceptable. If you are on a budget this is a great option, but don't pay full price. For the price you can find a much better sub (perhaps not wireless), but for this price point it's a great value. Last note, build quality and aesthetics are nice. It is a smaller size and easy to tuck away to avoid being intrusive in a formal living room.

Pros: Wireless, on sale price, build quality.

Cons: Music a little bit muddy for my taste.

Everything have have ever purchased through Crutchfield, every sales support member have been uniformly outstanding. The new subwoofer is amazing, it is a replacement, so all 6 of my system speakers are now Klipsch. I could not be happier. When I set up the new subwoofer, it was so easy. I then ran the acoustic optimization on my slightly older Yamaha receiver, and the subwoofer kind of vanished. So I just got off tech support with Crutchfield, and the guy, and I'm so sorry I don't remember his name, guided me through adjusting the subwoofer to get it back on track. So now everything sounds sweet and powerful. I just want to reiterate, the products are outstanding, prices are great, and the service before, during, and after the sale is awesome. Thanks so much.

Pros: evertyhing, and the wireless capability of this subwoofer enhances everything.

I'm a long time Klipsch fan, and this is my second subwoofer from Klipsch. The R-10SWi is in a relatively small room so I didn't need a large sub and this one works great. I am using it with a wired connection, but, I wanted the option to go wirelessly if needed. I let my home theatre receiver run it's speaker calibration and setup all of the speakers in my 5.1 setup, including the sub, and I'm pleased with the overall balance.

This Klipsch is awesome with deep and powerful bass! I had a Sony Active Subwoofer (SA-WM20) from decade ago with only 8" woofer it sounded so good with music so I thought I would upgrade it to the latest Sony SACS9 model which has a 10" woofer and 115 Watt. At the same time I also wanted to try out this Klipsch R-10SWi subwoofer since it has a wireless connection. When I placed all three together and tested them side by side the winner came out. The old Sony was still unbelievable good with a very deep and clear bass, it's excellent for music. The new Sony (SACS9) however seems under power even with a 10" woofer and the bass was not as deep as the decade old model with 8" woofer. I was quite surprise!! But when came to the Klipsch R-10SWi it's undeniable that the bass is not only deep it's very powerful as well. For music I think the 10" woofer sounds better than a 12" model. I use these Subwoofers mainly in a small church environment and they're all powerful enough. Even the old Sony with only 8" woofer when I cranked up the volume the whole place is rumbling. With the Klipsch I would have to keep the volume very low or it would just shake the place like crazy! I hope the Klipsch would last like my old Sony it's still looking like new and working flawlessly.

Pros: Wireless, deep and powerful bass at this size. Great for music and movie.

I wanted to add some low end fill to my more than adequate system. I considered Polk Audio to match my speakers but was hooked by the great price for the Klipsch unit. Have to admit that the copper colored speaker was an attraction - probably more marketing by Klipsch than anything else. Does exactly what I hoped with my Yamaha AS-301 amp; lower frequencies are greatly enhanced without being annoying (after careful modulation of the gain control). Crutchfield is my go-to for auto and home listening needs.

Pros: Well built unit with great low frequency fill-in with careful adjustment of controls.

Cons: Hard to read level control markings on back of unit.

Excellent service and support from Crutchfield

Pros: Great sound, small profile, wireless

Cons: none

It is absolutely sublime!

Pros: The wireless pairing is completely stable. Sound is very clear.

Cons: 1) Instructions were vague on how to pair the speaker with wireless transmitter. But I when I pressed the button the units paired quickly. 2) The power and phase switches on the back are a bit small and feel rather fragile. I would prefer to have more substantial rocker type switches. 3) There is a faint hum once the speaker is powered on, but it is inaudible as I step away. Didn't hear this on non-wireless version.

Excellent sub! Perfect wireless.

Bought this for use with a home theater system. I do not like wireless home theater speakers because one needs to find power for them which defeats the purpose of "wireless". However, since a sub can be put in much more flexible locations than any other part of the surround sound system, this works perfectly. It is probably too much for the room we have but the sound is perfect. I really like having the easily adjustable crossover setting and the volume settings. The automatic on/off works like a dream and it is comforting to know it is not on all of the time. I am very impressed with the wireless connection. We have had wireless subs before which lose lock once a week, cause some interesting and terrifying sounds, and require lots of fiddling to get them relocked. This sub locked in the first time we plugged it in and we have had no troubles since--about a mont with lots of "on" and "off" of the system--very reliable, great sound, and by golly, it looks really cool. Even my wife was OK with that part.

Pros: Looks great Klipsch sound that has been their reputation since the very beginning Crossover adjustments are great Can knock the house down if you want it to Wireless link has been flawless

Cons: none

Added a second Sub!

Once again Crutchfield advisors are the best! I had just finished updating my surround system with a new center, and rear speakers. I already had an Infinity sub, located at the front corner of living room, saw this sub on sale, called Crutchfield to see if I could run a second sub in rear corner of room for a fuller theatre sound. Wade immediately recommended adding the speaker, said room size was large enough to handle additional bass. I have had the speaker in now for about six weeks and after making needed adjustments to amp for the extra sub both movies, and music are far more enhanced. It's amazing what a second sub will do for listening enjoyment, Having it wireless made it a no brainer, no running extra wires under floors or carpet! If you don't have a sub now, this would be the one to get, gives you options of where to place since it's wireless. Great speaker!!

Pros: Great sound, easy adjustments, easy set-up, and a fantastic price!!!!

Cons: None, should have purchased this when I completed my surround system.

Extremely easy to set-up and sounds amazing. I placed this sub in a rather large room and it made my music and movies come alive. The wireless feature made placement a dream to achieve the best sound while not having to have wires run across the room.

Pros: Ease of set-up Cost Sound

I got the alert that the price on this baby had dropped by an obscene amount, but of course I saved even more by using my Crutchfield bucks. Works much better when the wireless transmitter is plugged in ( I discovered there was a nut loose in the back of my receiver) Initial volume level scared my wife.

Pros: Easy to hide, tremendous deep bass, simple to connect

Cons: None

Awesome Sub! Was on sale so decided to give it a try. unpacked and plugged the wireless transmitter into the receiver, then plugged in the sub and it paired instantly. Had to turn down the bass as it kicked pretty good out of the box. All in all, great purchase and would recommend to anyone.

Pros: Easy to hook up, great sound!

Awesome subwoofer for an apartment

This sub is awesome. I live in an apartment and have home theater speaker system that sounds awesome also, and the sub on that is turned down and now I have this sub, turned down also, but WOW, this thing hits hard, I have to turn it off sometimes because it rocks. The wireless is awesome. I have the sub under my end table right next to me and no problems or interference of the wireless box on my tv stand. I knew Klipsch was great but wow! Great for an apartment.

Pros: Everything about it.

Cons: None as of right now

Sounds great. Not sure how the power switch is supposed to work. Even when turned off the blue light is still "ON". If I press the sync button it flashes and then when it stops the blue light goes off. In my experience if you turn the switch to "off" the power light should be off. Manual says nothing about how this switch works.

I knew it was going to be good, but I was surprised by how much bass it produces. I got an incredible deal but thought I would still want the 12 inch. No need. More than enough bass and the wireless connection is flawless. Music and movies sound great.

Pros: Easy set up. Tons of bass. No cables. Plenty of kick and more than enough boom. Great deal great service

Purchased this Klipsch Reference R-10SWi to replace an entry level JBL sub in our Onkyo RZ800 receiver system (all other channels are Klipsch too). Wireless connectivity was a breeze. Recalibrated the system using the Onkyo microphone and voila, rich deep base that rumbles the floor. I've actually turned down the gain on the sub a tad (started with the gain at the half way position) to balance the overall bass experience.

Pros: Easy setup, great looks, deep full bass

Cons: None
