Paired with older Yamaha receiver, plug and play. Love the addition to my home surround system. Replace a 10" paradigm sub that was around 15 years old. What a night and day difference! Truly room thundering base and subtle rumble in the right places. Noticed commercials on TV are now even entertaining to watch, could not believe the bass undertones that I had been missing with the old sub. Add in the copper color and watching that move is absolutely awesome! Customer service at Crutchfield was next level! Thank you Tom!

Pretty much the same as the SPL-120, but at a way better price on sale than you can get the new one for. Wireless kit works really good for these...surprised me honestly. I would recommend this sub especially if you can snag it on sale.

Pros: 300 watt RMS, thumps, good build quality, wireless kit option is great, sale price is nice

I'm working on my home theater and wanted to upgrade from my Polk PSW10. I contacted Crutchfield for help choosing a replacement and they guided me to the Klipsch Reference R-112SW subwoofer. I'm happy I took Crutchfield's expert advice because this subwoofer has suited my needs perfectly. This subwoofer has even managed to get my wife excited about our theater! The service was excellent. Unbeatable price and fast shipping. I couldn't be happier.

Pros: Great power and clarity

Item was bought as a scratch & dent and came in pretty good condition. There were a couple scratches on the top of the unit, but nothing obnoxious. The overall sound from this speaker is good, the controls are easy to use, and it's straightforward to setup and dial in. Only time will tell how it will fair long term. This Klipsch unit replaces two 10" Polk subs because the amp board failed on both Polk speakers and they could not be repaired or replaced. Hoping this unit lasts longer.

Pros: Good audio output Easy setup

Cons: Physical size might be a challenge if used in a tight space

The sound comes through clearly with this product. At half volume I'm getting more than I could need from the sub, I can only imagine what it would pump out if I turned it up and really let it loose. Considering the sale price I got it at, it makes it even more of a great purchase.

Pros: Clear sound quality, wide range, enhanced movies and music

I really debated between this sub and and the newer SPL line of subs. You cant go wrong with this sub. I dont listen to it loud and at low volumes this sub will still shake the room...but more importantly the the quality of the bass output is really good.

Pros:

Cons: I didnt buy two for my 5.1.2 setup. - I dont feel that it is needed. So will probably never buy a second sub.

Klupsch Subwoofer Sad

So very disapointed in this KLIPSCH 12 inch powered subwoofer. This is my secound one and I have had the same issues with the speaker cracking after a week. Both of these Worked great for less than a week (with low use and set up correctly) and sounded amazing at first. Sent the first one back thinking it was just bad luck but after 2 in a row I would recomend looking elsewhere. Disapointing when all my floor and sorround speakers are Klipsch; I would highly recomend them but cant recomend their powered subs. Also note this review is no reflection on Crutchfield, all my experience with them and their customer service has been amazing.

Cons: Bad product

This Reference Series subwoofer performs better than expected. When I saw these on sale, I took advantage. Although discontinued, The R-112SW is still a great sub, especially at this price. It has the same specifications, 300 Watt Amp and 24Hz-125Hz range, as the SPL-120 Klipsch currently sells for $849.00 which has a slightly different cabinet. The current Reference Premiere R120SW sells for $599.00 and only has a 200Watt Amp, 29Hz-120Hz range, and is 16 lbs. lighter. I liked this Sub so well, I decided to finally upgrade to a Dual Sub setup and I ordered a second one. Wow! The bass in my room is now more linear seat to seat and sounds fantastic listening to well recorded music. Bass guitar, drums, low piano notes, and other instruments playing down low are much more authoritative. Even though my Klipsch Rf-83 front tower speakers are quite capable across a wide frequency range, after running Audyssey XT32 room correction on my Marantz Pre/Pro, my entire soundstage was enhanced running Dual subs. I do miss a little bit of impact my 15" sub had under 24 Hz, but it is worth the trade off for better musicality and less bass Nulls across the room. Crutchfield did an excellent job on my orders. My online purchases were one week apart and the entire process was seamless. I received daily updates and they arrived intact and on time. Shipping was free 2nd day UPS air. Thanks Crutchfield. You Rock and now so does my living room.

Powerful. I have a large Man Cave(20' front wall with built-ins x 26') that's used primarily for movies. I have two cabinets for subs that this is in, I was concerned one sub wouldn't be enough, but I was wrong. Its turned down to about 50% and then again within my receiver.

Pros: I only need one, and it was a great price when I got it.

Cons: I only need one but aesthetically want two. (not really a con)

Wow, this sub rocks! It is the perfect match for my R-625FA home theater system. Clean, crisp bass fills the room and sounds great whhether on 5.1.2 music tracks or providing the punch for added realism in action/adventure flicks. I am very happy with my decision to choose this sub and also to purchase it through Crutchfield. This is a follow-up purchase with Crutchfield. I appreciate their technical knowledge and customer service. I trust it won't be my last.

Pros: Strong, crisp bass Exceptional value Outstanding Crutchfield service

Cons: I hung on to my under-powered Polk Audio sub way too long.

MY GREAT SUBWOOFER CHOICE

Crutchfield customer from Riverview, FL on 8/1/2021

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This R-112SW sub-woofer appears to be perfect for me. Two weeks ago I bought the Klipsch reference dolby atmos surround system on sale ( a pair of, r-625as- that are front and top firing, a pair of, r -41m book shelf speakers, and one, r-52c center channel speaker, with all the wiring included ). The only thing it was missing was a sub-woofer. The box the system came in recommended the r-10sw subwoofer, but I found that this r-112sw, subwoofer was on sale at Crutchfield! I bought it and can't be happier that I did, tight, clear, smooth, room filling, not over powering, bass. Wow !!!!

Pros: Tight, clear smooth, room filling, but not overpowering bass

With control over volume and frequency, balancing this woofer in your home's environment is easy. It produces powerful and rumbling lows that supplement your other speakers seamlessly without overpowering the music content. However, if you like realistic cannon shots, like in the 1812 Overture, this woofer will provide satisfying bass, really satisfying, like shaking your house bass...!!! And at an affordable price.

Pros: Already stated the pros...

Cons: none...

I bought 2 of these, one for the right front and one for the left rear, to even out the bass from my Cornwall 4's. They are very fast in the bass, to match the cornwalls. Haven't tweet them yet, but they really helped the very low bass. Not boomy , just nice and tight.

Awesome sub for

Brian from FREMONT, MI on 7/19/2021

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

To start off, this is the first surround sound system I have had in like 30 years. Second, I'm not one to notice the difference in highs and lows from one product to the next. I just know what I think sounds good. That being said, I originally got the R-100SW and it just didn't have the bass and hit I wanted. So I returned for this one. Wow. What. A. Difference. This thing pounds. And I usually only have the gain at 50-65%. Depending on what I am playing, if I turn it up past 75% the walls and windows are shaking. I love this sub! I have the grill off and love the copper look of the sub. I can't say that there are any drawbacks for someone that isn't super experienced with the sounds and technical details. I just know what I think sounds good. It sounds awesome streaming music or watching a movie. I got it on a special and so glad I exchanged the R-100SW!

TRASH

Mark from NORCO on 7/14/2021

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

TRASH, It's not if your R-112SW subwoofer will go bad, it's when it will go bad. They have hundreds of online reviews of this subwoofers internal amplifier going bad. Mine went out after 3 years, to get it repaired is almost the cost of a new one. It's not worth fixing, now I'm stuck with a 50lb. boat anchor. This problem has been going on for many years and Klipsch warranty for electronics is only 2 years. My advice is do your research and buy a reliable brand subwoofer. This subwoofer is TRASH.

Pros: Sounded good for 3 years. HAHAHA, what a joke.

Cons: It's going to go out anyday, and it's usually after the warranty has expired.

Though I haven't had much time to audition the sub, I can say that what I have heard has been amazing. This also the first time I got an opened box item from crutchfield and when I ordered it was described as fair. Of Catherine sub came they said it would. When I opened I had a bit of consternation, not knowing what to expect. But I should Have known better! They said it was a scratch and dent but I had to look very hard to see anything really. And I have bought new items that looked worse. So, I'll simply say it's Crutchfield and they are still the Best!

It's a good sub, absolutely need more than one if your using in a larger room as it sounds great at one end and can't hear it at the other, which I already knew I'd need more than 1 but had to give it a test first. (My room 25'x 24') hits low frequencys and can feel it thru the couch/chair/seat like a shaker. Plan is to buy and other 1 and use them for my bedroom. It's a great looking enclosure and driver. The cover plate is cheap, has 4 tiny, weak plastic legs that go into rubberized holds. Won't last very long if you take it on and off a few times. Probably not even if you leave it alone. But for what it costs, it's a great sub, although I've only had it for a week or so n haven't had a chance to use it very much, music and playing Playstation is really all I've done with it this far. Makes gun shots sound real though lol. Crutchfield got it to me a day early and a discount as well. Great customer service as well. They will help you with any questions you might have. Great sub for the price.

Pros: Great for the price. It's Klipsch It's visually appealing Hits lower frequencies

Cons: Face plate made cheap Should put out more for it's size

I had the Polk Audio PSW10 for years and was happy, but then decided to upgrade to this Klipsch sub and it really opened up the sound in my medium-sized room. I run the gain at about 55% and really don't need anything else., Very clean sound

Pros: speaker was on sale for a really nice price

This is an absolute brick s-house of a sub and it will absolutely do the job for any music or home theater application. What's so shocking is the current price. If you've got the space and if your wife lets you, get two. Every sub will add low end, but not every sub can add commanding tight, deep bass like this baby can. I'm super impressed. Man what a value!

Pros: Strong, deep, tight, structured bass. Serious value with current price.

Cons: Big, heavy.

Easy setup. Simple instructions. Meaningful adjustments to tailor the sound to my room and preferences. Window-rattling bass. Paired with Klipsch Reference R-15PM bookshelf speakers for an almost unbelievable listening experience. In my haste to hear I just plugged it into my laptop. In the coming days I'll connect them to my receiver. If they're this good now, I can only imagine what comes next. One caveat: the thing's big. I managed to stuff it under my desk but that's about the only place in my office with enough floor space to accommodate it.

Pros: great performance, strong bass, wide range of adjustments, easy setup

Cons: make sure you have the space, this sucker's big

My previous sub was part of the legendary Z-5500 system, This new one blows it out of the water, it gives deep solid bass and isn't "punchy" aka hollow (some people use that term differently)

Pros: Deep clear non punchy bass that packs 'oompf'

Cons: Size, weight, but those really aren't cons.

Wow. This sub is incredible and that's an understatement. I used a Logitech Z5500 system for 11 years which has a 10" sub and I thought it was big. This is a 12" sub and it makes the Z5500 sub look small in comparison. I can't even imagine how much bigger the Klipsch 15" sub is compared to my old Z5500 sub. Anyway, the thunderous power this sub puts out is clean, undistorted, and makes my home theater experiences so much better. I live in a 900 sq-ft home and this sub easily puts out enough boom throughout my house. I'm very impressed. I was cross shopping between this and the Klipsch R-120SW. I think I made a good decision to go with the R-112SW. This is my very first purchase from Crutchfield and will be making more purchases in the future. Fantastic shipping time and the package arrived perfectly. 5 out of 5 stars!

I purchased this powered subwoofer to replace one damaged by Hurricane Harvey. I have only had this for a few weeks, but the sound seems to be improving with use. This R-112SW takes care of the low frequency sounds so that my Denon system now only needs to power my tower and center channel speakers. The result is wonderful and getting better it seems.

Pros: Improved sound pressure levels at all frequencies.

Cons: Rapid reviews cannot include product longevity measures.

This thing SLAMS! Whether it's sounding off on cannon blasts from pirate ships, or the bass guitar of Aerosmith's Janie's Got A Gun, this thing knows no boundaries. I've got in installed in what is now a 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos/DTS:X Klipsch system powered by a Marantz SR6012. The other sub is a sealed box SVS SB-2000 Pro for a combined subwoofer RMS wattage of 850w. The profiles of the 2 sub compliment each other nicely. What one might miss, the other gets. And the front slot port allows me to place it out front so I can enjoy it's beauty as it's bringing down my house. It didn't sound this good right out of the box though. Needed a break in process. Took a week or so with decent usage. Even played a 25hz tone on it at a lower volume for a bit to speed up the process (I hate waiting). Once I felt it was playing well with others, I ran the Audyssey app on my amp. Now it blends in like it was always there. Subtle when it's called to, and shaking my concrete basement foundation when I want it to. At this lower price point, there is NO reason not to get this sub. I highly recommend this to music, movie, whatever you listen to, lovers!

Pros: Big, beefy bass Front slot port 300w of clean bass Pretty to look at

Cons: Heavy? Awkward to move down a flight of stairs? Posts for the grill are ON the sub, not the grill (careful with those)

If you want to feel the bass look no further! I ended up with this unit after talking to Athena at Crutchfield. What drew me to this unit is its front portal design. This allowed me to tuck it away in a corner and out of the way (it's not small). This could not be done with a rear portal design. I'm running this at less than half power and it shakes the house in a good way! The cannon exchanges in Master & Commander are jaw dropping! I can't say enough about this sub. It fully compliments my JBL towers in my home theater. You could spend a lot more but you won't improve on this Sub-woofer. Read Crutchfield's article on Sub-woofers and set up. Take your time to tune it to your room and you will be ecstatic with the results.

Pros: Excellent build quality, extremely powerful and very handsome!

Big Sound In A Small Package

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

When I opened up the box to find the R-112SW subwoofer, I was a little shocked at how small it was to be a 12" subwoofer. After plugging it in and finding just the right spot by doing the "sub crawl" it found a home. To test, I popped in the blu-ray "Edge of Tomorrow". The opening scene gives the subwoofer a slap in the face welcome to the family bass sweep that will literally shake your couch. You can literally feel the couch shaking. The bass sweep note is probably 30hz down to 20hz. I highly recommend this subwoofer. HOWEVER, during the lowest bass note on this movie you can hear port noise (remember this on the extreme end of the frequency range where you feel the sound rather than hear it). But wasn't expecting to hear any port noise at all from a subwoofer like this. But...I'm still happy with my purchase. All other bass notes / frequencies perform phenominal so I'm satisfied. Now....if you can please so kindly put your Sony A8H Oled tv on sale...I'll gladly buy that this week! :) Thanks, Nick

Pros: You can feel the bass

Cons: Port noise at very low end of the frequency range

Powerful yet well controlled

Richard from Fargo, ND on 1/22/2021

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

At this price, R-112SW is a bargain. I connected it to my AVR via LFE input, the base volume/gain gets controlled by the AVR remote. Auto tuned with my 11.1 speakers setup. R-112SW has enough power to bring "earthquake" to your room. but if connect and tune it properly, you will enjoy a well controlled the bass at all volume levels. At low, like listening classical music at night, it fills the proper amount of low frequency pleasing to the ears. At high when in some movie battle scenes, it confidently makes the rumble felt but without tearing down the house. Warning, it can certainly do damage to your ears and unsecured shelf items if you don't setup properly.

Pros: The power and confidence to produce needed low frequencies at all volume level.

Cons: None at the moment

Replaced a 10" Polk subwoofer. Sounds and looks great. During setup, I did have one minor issue. While performing speaker setup with my receiver's microphone for the Yamaha Parametric room Acoustic Optimizer (YPAO), no sound emitted from the subwoofer when tones were sent to each speaker. After troubleshooting, I discovered I had the subwoofer power switch to AUTO instead of ON. I am not sure how much of a delay from when a low frequency signal is received, until the subwoofer "wakes up". It was too long for this setup procedure, so the receiver assumed no subwoofer was attached. For everyday use, the AUTO setting is probably fine, but make sure to have it ON during any speaker optimizing procedures.

This is my 2nd R-112SW. I bought a 2nd one to help with some nulls in a open floor plan setup. As with the first R-112SW I am impressed with the units. I like the build quality and construction and relative to the size of the sound it puts out, it has a small foot print. I did by this on sale for $399 so IMO it is an incredible value. My only regret is that I didn't add a 2nd subwoofer sooner. It just helps even out the room, and makes the bass so much bigger but its not over bearing of you do it right. Of course movies are even better now that there are two in the room, there is just no replacement for displacement. Snatch one of these up before they are all gone.

Pros: Great bass, small footprint compared to the competition. A nice design.

Cons: It seems to have a high threshold to Auto turn-on. I have to turn my receiver up to "50" before either of them will come on. Once they come on, they stay on.

AWESOME. Upgraded my low-quality 10" sub with this and it sounds fantastic. I already had Klipsch RP towers and am not really a big bass person so I was wondering if I really needed a better sub. But after hooking this thing up I couldn't be happier that I upgraded. So much power and very clean sound. Note: I also bought the R-120SW and compared both. While the 120SW was a good step up from my old sub, the 112SW blew it away so I went with it. Hope that helps anyone else trying to decide between the two like I was.

This subwoofer was replaced by a new SPL series, but essentially it is just a re-skin so it's a better deal by being less expensive. It is a very powerful subwoofer that puts out a lot of sound and moves plenty of air. I do think that it could be a bit more musical and, because of its ported nature, is more sensitive to placement. All in all, it is an excellent subwoofer for the price.

Pros: Powerful sound. Elegant fit and finish.

Cons: Ported design makes it more sensitive to room placement.

Right out of the box, I knew this Klipsch subwoofer was built solid, heavy! I know the components are of top quality. The clear, concise deep bass is outstanding. As with any quality subwoofer, a little tweaking is involved to get your subwoofer just right. Well worth the 15 or 20 minutes.

Buy this sub before you lose out on a great sub!!! This thing is a monster when you need it to be but low volume is great also. Great subs. Great price almost half price in scratch and dent

Pros: Great sub. Not going to find a better one for less then $400. Get it while you can won't be disappointed. Have had a lot of different subs. At this price you will be crazy to pass it up considering it's a $650 sub that I would've paid full price for. NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!!

Cons: The marks on the gain and the low pass could knobs could be marked white so you can see it but nothing a paint marker can't fix.

Well worth every dollar

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I had a 7.1 setup all klipsch speakers powered by a denon AVR 4500 and don't get me wrong it was amazing... as a $5k stereo should be. I only had the one klipsch spl-120 sub and it sounded good with the bigger floor standing speakers to back it up. I saw this on sale and bought it because why not. It arrived SUPER quick, way ahead of schedule. I wired up this one in place of my other sub to see if there was a difference (this box is a couple inches longer than the spl-120). Paying only the sale price for it I was surprised that right out of the box it did sound a little better than the more expensive spl-120. It also has a higher frequency crossover, not that you should put a sub to play those high notes anyway. After the break in period I hooked both subs up to the stereo and together my basement turns into a concert. If you want the best money can buy for a home stereo this is for you. Pros: Price, comparatively at least. You get what you pay for and then some (especially if you get it on sale right now!) Quality, very well built. I mean c'mon it's klipsch Crutchfield customer support. From buying, to setup, and god forbid replacement/returns crutchfield is unbeatable. Cons It's an inch or two longer than the spl-120. So if you don't have an inch to spare go find a bigger house and buy this sub

Wow. I had a 10" Hbk sub from 2009 that I thought was awesome but this Klipsch surpasses that statement ten fold. It's like listening to a dvd in my ford truck with its Rockford fosgate P3 with 1600 watts pushing it. My home stereo is all reference series with atmos surround atop my 8" towers. My girlfriends are telling me it's better than the theatre. (Probably because Of my charm and good looks) . Anyway, it's all from the superb help and advice I get from Crutchfield each and every time I am looking for audio/visual components for either my home, vehicles, motorcycle or side by side. Buyer beware. I bought the R-112SW in September of 2016. I've taken meticulous care of it, not overdriving it, and have enjoyed it for the last three and a half years. Then suddenly a few months ago it decided to not turn on in auto or on mode. Power cycling it seemed to work a few times but now it only stays powered on for a minute at most. After searching online and multiple forums, I've found that this is a common thread with Klipsch sub amps. Saying I'm disappointed would be a major understatement. Previous to this sub I had a JBL and it's still functional nearly 20 years later. I'm in love with the rest of my Klipsch speakers, but I won't be purchasing another powered speaker from them.

Pros: Great sound Decent price Matches my other Klipsch speakers

Cons: Stopped working Pretty paperweight now

I'm glad I changed to this subwoofer. Very easy to connect to my Marantz SR5014. The bass is perfect for the size of our entertainment/TV/audio room. Even when you have the volume low, you can still hear and feel the well balanced bass. Not the annoying "BOOM BOOM" that i've heard with other systems. I HIGHLY recommend this subwoofer

I decided to try Klipsch R-112SW to compliment pair of Klipsch pair of tower speakers bought recently from BBY. Totally surprised with the performance and sound quality from this subwoofer..simply blown away compared to my Polk PSW-505 subs (own 3). Perhaps this would be one of my best 2020 decision. The Bass is tight, clear, immersive, and smooth. Just hearing low range bass not available on PSW-505 was sweet like honey. I love this subwoofer and watching Netflix on my SONY-65 class X950G would never be the same again. Thanks to Crutchfield for fast 2-day free shipping again.

Pros: Fantastic performance with accurate deep bass response, clarity, and the sound quality was awesome. Also, the speaker enclosure finish had a nice texture compared to the Polk subwoofers.

Cons: Personally, I would prefer a magnetic speaker cover.

So far with the experience I've had I am in love. This sub (although overkill for my room) has so much power and hits those deep tones. I've heard things that I've never heard before in my favorite movies. It digs much deeper than my previous sub. I highly recommend this subwoofer!

Pros: Power Bass response Performance during movies

Cons: Performance during music (as to be expected with a ported sub, still the performance is not bad. Just slightly 'muddy')

Very pleased with the sound quality. I has clarity and definition in the lower ranges that I've been sorely missing. I haven't had the opportunity to stress it in action movies yet, but it has helped bring both my vinyl and Digital collection to life!

Pros: I like the power standby mode so the amp's capacitors are not always stressed, as that is usually the first thing to go in an amplifier. Timely deliver by Crutchfield!!

Cons: Potentiometer knobs having a more prominent tactile indicator to note position would be appreciated. Wish the cabinet was the same finish as the other components but then it's not too noticable.

Very thrilled with the performance of my new R-112SW subwoofer! It replaced a 10 inch 200 watt unit that simply underperformed. My 5.1 home theatre system is in a room that has a vaulted ceiling to a loft on the 2nd floor. Finally we now have the bass we were missing! I watched Top Gun this afternoon and we could hear and feel bass we never did before! Even our center, front and surround speakers now seem to sound richer, clearer and fuller. Perhaps that can be at lest partially attributed to the Crutchfield tech support people that helped me tune/adjust my surround system and subwoofer. Even music sounds better. Very happy I bought this subwoofer.

Pros: Powerful enough for a bigger room. Easy to connect and adjust.

Cons: None noted so far!

I was not in the market for a subwoofer but because my Definitive Tech SC4000 stopped working but since received and installed new amps it's working like new again, I decided to stop using any compact subwoofer from now on. I called Crutchfield and asked about the Klipsch R112 for my bedroom setup. It is also on sale which makes the experience that much better. Anyway I did order the Klipsch R112 and I received it today. Oh boy what a huge box it came in, after unpacking it and hooking it up, I realized how big it really was. I could use it as an end table lol. Anyway I started playing some music like Queen, Bob Marley and a few more and it sounded amazing. Bass was natural and not too overpowering. Sounded good and punchy and I am sure it will sound even better after about a month of break in. I have had big subwoofers before from Definitive Technology, Martin Logan, and they all served me well but this Klipsch is absolutely stunning. I heard that Aqua Man was reference material when it comes to low end bass. I left all my setting the same, 0 on my subwoofer level on my Onkyo RZ-820 and half way volume on the sub. That scene when they came for Atlanna and shot a hole in the wall was so powerful that my dad asked me what was that? Did someone drive into the house? I said no that was the Klipsch R112. Superb subwoofer for music but for movies it's a whole different ball game. This is not a toy and it's seriously powerful. Go buy one, SVS doesn't even come close. Amazing!!!

Pros: Excellent bass reproduction Very powerful Heavy & well built subwoofer

Cons: None Huge Subwoofer

So far, So good. I really like the natural deep base sound this subwoofer puts out. I have not had it long enough to pinpoint any problems. It came in good shape and crutchfield even gave me a discount on shipping for not being in a hurry to receive it. The operation of the subwoofer is fairly simple. If you can hear where the bass is coming from, it should be turned down until the bass sounds like it is coming out of your normal speakers. I have 2 subwoofers, both 12 inch and my system sounds great.

R-112SW Great Sub

I have had a pair of Klipsch R-15PM's for a bout two years now and had always wanted to match them up with a Klipsch sub. The R-112SW was a great choice. Using it in the bedroom as sound for the TV. System delivers great depth to TV shoes and of course movies. It brings everything to life. Hits hard and tight without overpowering the system. It had been awhile since I last used a sub and you don't realize how much information you are missing in the lower kHz's spectrum until you add one to your system. I am a bass player and live in the world of low end. I plan on getting the wireless unit so I can load it in a corner of the room for more bass. This is a great match to go with the R-15PM's and would suggest buying them together for a great system. The remote that comes with the R-15PM's makes it easy to balance out the volume between the sub and your speakers.

Crutchfield customer from Luthvle Timon, MD on 1/15/2020

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Let me start by saying that this is a really good subwoofer, especially for the sale price I was able to purchase it for. When I started my search on adding a subwoofer to my main speakers (Klipsch - RP-280F), most of my research recommended another popular brand of subwoofer, which are well known for their high-impact/high-watt products. Needless to say, this sub was not really on my radar. I was looking for a subwoofer that would be utilized for 99% music, in a 2.1 channel set up in my basement. Basement size is 20' X 25' with 8' ceilings and hardwood floors. I wanted a sub that I could not only hear, but feel at those really low notes. I decided to call Crutchfield for their expert's opinion, before pulling the trigger on a much more expensive unit. I spoke with two different advisors and each of them pointed me to this subwoofer. I ended up going with the R-112SW and I am very happy with the recommendation. The reason I am not giving it 5-Stars is that while is sounds terrific playing most music genre's, it can struggle playing notes below 30hz, especially at more moderate listening levels. You can certainly hear the bass, but the unit struggles in having you really feel the bass (at least in my current set-up). I have not turned the gain up more that half-way, which is the way it came out of the box. I'm a little reluctant to turn the gain up much more, in fear of damaging the driver, given how sensitive the sub is. Overall this is a really solid subwoo

Pros: -Looks great -Awesome for music, especially rock and metal -Great price -Build Quality -Crutchfield Service

Cons: -Can struggle with re-producing low notes -Port-Noise is noticeable when frequencies dip below 30 hz and volume is at a moderate level

Issues with amp power

Ryan from WOODLAND, CA on 1/11/2020

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This subwoofer has problems with the power supply. The amp board works at first and then over time the sub will not stay on. Klipsch customer service takes a while to respond and you may wait 10-15 days to hear back from them. This is a known issue and many people have reported similar problems. If you are under warranty, they may send a new amp board. Unfortunately for me the electronics warranty ended a month before I had the problem. So now I am screwed and have to either get buy and put a new board in myself or buy a new sub.

Pros: Fantastic sound when it worked.

Cons: No longer powers on.

I have expected big sound out of Klipsch speakers ever since my E.E. instructor performed a demonstration with a set of Klipschorns more than 30 years ago. So when I recently decided to put together my own system I went to Klipsch for my subwoofer. In short, it took me back to my college days. While the R-112SW absolutely delivers the beautiful house-filling bass I was hoping for, I am especially happy with the integration with the system I put together. I paired it with a McIntosh RS-200 and was extremely happy how well they mated and integrated with no adjustments necessary. Again, the Klipsch subwoofer delivered the sound I expected, but I was actually worried about it being too much. I didn't want my house to end up like those annoying cars that cruise around with the deafening bass blaring. Not to worry. The seamless integration with the RS-200 delivers well-balanced sound across the spectrum. It is also beautiful and solid and is easily at home right in our main living space. I should have bought one of these years ago.

Pros: Beautiful sound, seamless integration with system, aesthetically beautiful

Cons: None
