Classic Klipsch sound at a great value

Over the years, Klipsch Reference has been one of our best-selling speaker lines. And for good reason — for decades Klipsch has been crafting high-quality speakers that offer powerful, lifelike sound. They've continued this tradition with their compact, affordable R-14M.

This bookshelf pair features Klipsch's legendary horn-loaded tweeter, which produces clear, detailed highs. A copper spun 4" woofer delivers solid midrange and bass response in the sturdy speaker cabinet. And 5-way binding posts offer easy, secure wire connections. Make them part of a two-channel music system that doesn't take up much shelf space. Or use a pair of the R-14Ms as the front channels of a compact surround sound speaker system.

Build a complete Reference system

Add more bass to the R-14Ms with a matching subwoofer, or team them with other Klipsch Reference speakers for high-impact home theater.

Features

1" Horn-Loaded Tweeter: The R-14M bookshelf speaker features Klipsch's proprietary Tractrix Horn technology mated with a 1" aluminum LTS tweeter, for impressive high-end response and greater extension, enhanced imaging and powerful dynamics.

  • Tractrix Horn Technology: The square Tractrix Horn delivers a 90° (w) x 90° (h) dispersion pattern for a broader sound-stage.
  • LTS (Linear Travel Suspension): Behind each horn lies a 1.0-inch aluminum tweeter with a linear travel suspension to minimizes distortion for enhanced, detailed performance.

4" Copper-Spun IMG Woofer: The Klipsch R-14M bookshelf speaker is outfitted with a single 4" Copper-Spun IMG woofer. The Copper-Spun IMG (Injection Molded Graphite) woofer is exceptionally light while being extremely rigid - providing remarkable low frequency response, with minimal cone breakup and distortion.

Flared Port: The Klipsch Reference series bookshelf speaker features a rear-firing port that is perfectly matched to the cabinet and drivers. The port is precisely flared to minimize turbulence even at the lowest frequencies.

MDF Cabinet: The Klipsch R-14M bookshelf speaker features a MDF cabinet with a brushed polymer veneer black finish that seamlessly integrates into almost any room or decor. MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is utilized because of its damping characteristics for natural, uncolored sound without unwanted vibration and distortion.

Acoustically Transparent Grille: The Klipsch R-14M bookshelf speaker comes with a removable, black cloth grille that is acoustically transparent.

5-Way Binding Posts: The Klipsch Reference series bookshelf speaker is fitted with sturdy 5-way binding posts to ensure a secure connection to many types of cable and connectors. The 5-way binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single or dual), pin-connectors, spade-lugs and bare wire (up to 10AWG).

Mounting Options: The Klipsch R-14M can be placed on a speaker stand, bookshelf, table, or other flat surface. It can also be wall-mounted.

  • Rubber Feet: The bookshelf loudspeaker comes with self-adhesive rubber feet to secure the speaker in place and prevent any damage to your stand's or shelf's surface. The rubber feet add approximately 0.1875" to the height of the speaker.
  • Keyhole Slot: The Klipsch Reference series bookshelf speaker feature a single keyhole slot on the back of the cabinet for wall-mounting the speaker without any additional wall-mount bracket (mounting screws not supplied).

Placement: For optimum performance, Klipsch suggests placing the bookshelf speakers 6' to 15' apart. They may also be toed-in slightly for better stereo imaging. The listening position should be about 1 to 1.5x the distance separating the speakers.

Reference Series: The Klipsch Reference series consists of three floorstanding speakers (R-24F/R-26F/R-28F), two bookshelf speakers (R-14M/R-15M), one center channel speaker (R-25C), and one surround speaker (R-14S). The Klipsch Reference series line-up of loudspeakers sound great in stereo and home theater applications.

Optional Powered Sub: For bigger & deeper bass response, pair the R-14M bookshelf speaker with one of Klipsch's powered subwoofers (sold separately - see Accessories Tab).

Q
In need of some good wall mounts for these speakers, any suggestions?

A
I used Videosecu MS56B and Blue-Tac. They have been hanging on strong for 2 years without any issues.
[ RANDALL  Jun 04, 2018 ]
Q
Do these speakers need a stereo receiver?
[ PJlistener  Feb 22, 2018 ]

A
Yes. These are not powered speakers. You'll either need a receiver or a pre-amp to power them. Choosing between a pre-amp or receiver depends on how you plan apply these speakers. For most situations people will just hook this up to a receiver.
[ RYAN  Feb 23, 2018 ]
A
They will need some external signal from a receiver or amplifier.
[ WILLIAM E  Feb 23, 2018 ]
A
The speakers require a receiver or amplifier.
[ LLOYD  Feb 23, 2018 ]
A
They are great speaker's but they do require an audio source.
[ Jeffrey L.  Feb 22, 2018 ]
A
Yes, these are 'passive' speakers meaning that they need a power source such as a stereo receiver or pre - amp/ amp combination.
[ JAMES  Feb 22, 2018 ]
Q
If my record player is pre-amp, will I need to purchase anything else for these to work? Or just plug it in to my record player
[ Jess  Jun 10, 2017 ]

A
What your turntable probably has is called a phono preamp. This means that all you'll need is an Integrated amplifier and some speaker wire. The turntable plugs into the amplifier, the amplifier plugs into the speakers. Look for an amplifier rated for just over 50 watts RMS into 8 ohms. Peak wattage ratings don't mean anything, make sure the wattage rating is RMS! I'm using an Akai AA R50 (63 Watts RMS into 8 Ohms). They sound great. About 75 watts RMS should give you optimal performance for these speakers.

Most turn tables are not pre - amps, they have a very small signal that is derived from the groove in the recording and the needle moving within a magnet. This small signal is fed through RCA cable to the pre - amp. The pre has a volume control that feeds the power amp that in turn feeds the amp that feeds the speakers. Hope this helps.
[ JAMES  Jun 11, 2017 ]
A
I'm sorry, have no idea. I will say I'm happy with the speakers which are used as satellite surrounds.
[ Don  Jun 10, 2017 ]
Q
Do these speakers have a power cord or do I need to purchase a separate amp/receiver to use this with my turntable?
[ Ann  Dec 26, 2016 ]

A
These speakers are not powered so you'll need to have a pre-amp attached to your turntable in order for them to work.
[ RYAN  Dec 27, 2016 ]
A
These are perfectly wonderful and reasonably-priced speakers that are not powered. I bought a Yamaha R-S202 receiver/amplifier to power the speakers. Again, these are perfect small speakers with a big accurate sound. I use them in my cellar and garage for listening to recorded music without commercial interruption. I wold bu the amplifier, Sony or a Yamaha to be able to use these speakers, yes I would.
[ George  Dec 27, 2016 ]
A
There is no secondary power cable for these speakers. They require a powered input via the speaker cable such as is normally found in a Home Theater Receiver or stereo amplifier.
[ DAVID M  Dec 27, 2016 ]
A
These are passive speakers (not self powered - so no power cord). You will need to use an amplifier to power these. These are rated at 50 watts when at 8ohms, which you actually want to be able to power at 2.5 times the peak power to get the best sound and headroom (so up to but close to 150 watts per channel at 8 ohms). I would suggest talking to a crutchfield rep to help you find tge right gear for this system based on your budget.
[ KEVIN  Dec 26, 2016 ]
A
No power cord- these are just the speakers and require a separate amp/pre amp for your turn table
[ ROBERT  Dec 26, 2016 ]
A
no power cord , there Bluetooth speakers , they are 2way speakers, they need to be cranked up a bit to get some highs out of them ,otherwise good speakers.
[ joe  Dec 26, 2016 ]
A
That would be Amplifier, not application, sorry, auto corrected.
[ JAMES  Dec 26, 2016 ]
A
These are passive speakers, not powered; so some type of application will be be needed. Also, what ever you decide to use, will need to have a phono input. The good news is that these speakers are very efficient and almost any receiver with a phono input will work.
[ JAMES  Dec 26, 2016 ]
Q
I have a Denon 900W receiver with 2 Klipsch reference bookshelf speakers and a Klipsch Reference sub. Would these speakers work as rear speakers for surround sound?
[ RYAN  Nov 17, 2016 ]
3 answers
A
They would be perfect for rear speakers in a surround sound system. I use mine in a system that has very vintage Bang & Olufsen Beovox S45 speakers as my main speakers. The Klipsch sound good.
[ LLOYD  Nov 18, 2016 ]
A
I bought the R-14M speakers specifically to use as satellite surround speakers and they work great for this purpose. Don M.
[ Don  Nov 18, 2016 ]
A
Absolutely! These little guys sound great. They lack the bottom end, but you have a sub, so you should love them. They do need stands to sound best. Hope this helps.
