Have you ever been the first one in a movie theater, and had the chance to pick the best seat in the house? Having a home theater provides the same kind of lifelike surround sound experience that you get in that seat. And part of what makes that so enjoyable is hearing sound effects move around your living room the same way that they do in front of the big screen.
Cue the Klipsch Reference R-14S. These dynamic surround speakers have tweeters that face in different directions, creating wraparound rear-channel sound that lets the movie's soundtrack unfold all around you. Add these to your Reference system for a truly involving home theater experience.
Klipsch created WDST (Wide Dispersion Surround Technology) which helps you get immersive surround sound, even if you aren't able to position your speakers exactly where you want them. The R-14S uses two of their legendary horn tweeters in each speaker to deliver convincing sound effects. A 4" copper spun woofer takes care of mids and lows. These speakers have convenient key-hole slots on the back that makes wall-mounting a breeze.
Combine the R-14S with other Klipsch Reference speakers for a complete home theater system.
Bookshelf speakers: Klipsch R-15M and Klipsch R-14M
Center channel: Klipsch R-25C
Floor-standing speakers: Klipsch R-24F, Klipsch R-26F, and Klipsch R-28F
Powered subwoofers: Klipsch R-10SW and Klipsch R-12SW
Nice surround speakers for the price.

Average Customer Review(s):
Nice surround speakers for the price.
The R-14s really add to the surround effect of my system. I've pared them with Bose 301s and they really work well together. I have this set up in my home office so I have a strange mix of speakers, but it all turned out nicely with the addition of the Klipsch speakers.
Some movies actually make more sense with these and the rest of my Klipsch 5.1 setup. For example, Sherlock Holmes, in the Seven Percent solution, sounds whiney yelling down the stairs on a regular TV speaker, with a Klipsch setup, there is more depth in his voice, more anxiety that you can sense. You can feel the movies while you watch. Women's voices only lack hot breath. Sweet.
Pros: They put you in the movie, night club, or auditorium. They fill a sound dead spot.
Cons: I got the little ones
Replaced a bookshelf speaker to these and oh boy! Incredible surround!
First off I have been a crutchfield customer for years and they never disappoint with service and shipping. I upgraded my 10 year + old Bose 161 speaker system which were ok but these are a huge upgrade now that we have a real theater room and now my entire system is Klipsch besides center channel but that will be next.
Pros: Works on a budget!
Excellent speakers for the price. Great dispersion of sound and works well with my other Klipsch speakers. Makes for a much more theater like experience.
Pros: Sound, presence, theater mode
Cons: A little large and black. Would have liked a white option.
Added these speakers as an upgrade to an existing sound system. For the price point they perform very well and were an added item to a 7.2 system. No complaints and they look great. They do make a huge difference to the movie watching experience.
Pros: Sound great
Cons: My room is not big enough for full potential
Great set of speakers, completed my Klipsch home theater
Very happy with these speakers, great surround speakers.
Pros: Good price, great sound, easy to mount
These speakers sound good and would work well as bookshelf or wall mount speaker. They are too heavy to be a safe ceiling mount speaker.
Amazing surround sound! Hearing things never heard before. Sounds that make you turn your head because it sounds so lifelike... Very good 3-D sound.
Pros: Sounds that make my spine shivver
Cons: No cons.
Although I didn't start out looking for a bottom-of-the-line rear surround speaker, it turned out that this was the only one that would fit my very limited installation space (a narrow, 11" vertical height above a large picture window). Not an ideal location, but you have to play the cards the real world deals you. I also wanted a wide sound dispersion pattern, and the R-14S filled the bill nicely. My living room is on the smallish side, so it works fine, but a large room would benefit from a more potent rear surround, unless they're mount on stands behind the couch, or some such close-in arrangement. Being Klipsch and on sale made it a no-brainer!
Pros: Size and sound dispersion pattern
I think the Klipsch R-14S speakers are by far the best surroundsound speakers you can have for your home. If they weren't great I would've already returned them.
Pros: Everything, seriously everything
I replaced my old Boston Acoustics surround sound speakers and what a difference. I had bought a pair of R26-F towers and the R10-SW previously and purchased this and the RP-250C center speakers together. I didn't know what I was missing but I do know. This Klipsch system with a Yamaha V383 receiver I also bought from Crutchfield has entered me into sound heaven. BTW Crutchfield technical sales support is second to none, that is why I bought all this from them.
I am extremely happy with the sound and how they look on the wall. Well worth the price!
I replaced some smaller Klipsch rear surrounds with these R14s and could not believe the difference, I was watching Oblivion and the scene where Tom Cruz circles the football stadium in his transport turned my head around. The sound was so intense that I couldn't have been happier with these speakers. I give you my word, you'll love these speakers as surround rears, they sound great. Another testiment to them was while watching the new Bladerunner, the echo of the open room acoustics was jaw dropping. The match up of the R14s with the R25c and 2 left/right R26f's sound to be heaven made. The people at Crutchfield won't steer you wrong. I was going to get something different than these when the tech mentioned paring the R14s with what I had...man, am I glad I listened
Pros: Everything and everything
Cons: Ain't a one...not here
Speakers are great. I added them as my rear surround speakers( 6&7) with a klipsch system I already had the sound is great , crisp and clear. I would recommend them to all movie lovers ??
Pros: Looks great hanging on the wall Sounds great Price was reasonable Light weight
Replaced an early Bose 5 surround system with Klipsch Reference products after extensive research. The 280 FPs I decided on were out of stock, but Crutchfield had a special on an out of production center speaker that had good reviews and the R14 was the same price everywhere. Fills a large room with cathedral ceilings. Should have done it sooner.
Pros: Klipsch is a real "big bang for the buck".
Great surround speakers. Crisp and clear sound. Nice mid-range too ! Beautiful styling as well. Nice addition to my Atmos system. I have always been satisfied with Klipsch speakers, and these are no exception.
Pros: Sound, style and value.
I really like these. We bought them to replace two very small box speakers we had on stands as the rear surrounds in a small room off the master bedroom (10 x 10). I am really impressed with the improvement in the surround effect using these. They would not be appropriate to a large space.
Panoramic sound makes good rears
Pros: Good rear speakers that mount on the wall
Great sound, more bass than I expected. The sound spreads out well due to shape.Would have givin a 5 star rating if they would have had removable grills.
This is second set of 14s . My first pair as my rear surround . I was so impressed I purchased another pair and mounted them overhead as front presence and bumped up to 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos . They fill the area great without advertising their location . They look great in a designated theater area or main living area . Bought open box , box was damaged , speakers perfect , SCORE .
Pros: look Great ! Sound even Better . Versatile mounting possibilities . Reasonable price for a quality surround set .
I added the R-14S surrounds as rear surround sound speakers to complete my Klipsch theater system. They are appealing to the eye and sound great. I now have that extra dimension when the sound is to the rear. Price was reasonable and Crutchfield is always top notch with delivery and condition of items. Thanks!
Pros: Sound, appearance, price
Sonido excelente y gran afinidad. El producto llegó antes de la.fecha pautada. Excellent sound and great affinity. The product arrived before the date written.
Pros: Excelente sonido y afinidad. Excellent sound and affinity.
Cons: NoneCrutchfield response on 3/28/2017 Translation provided by Crutchfield's International Sales & Support team.
I upgraded from a 5.1 speaker set that came with a home-theater-in-a-box system. Using these as my surround L/R made a huge difference! They sound crystal clear, and are great for the price. Considering buying a second pair to make a 7.1 system.
What else can be said about Klipsch speakers, besides the quality is off the chart. These speakers are great for rears, but I just the Watts could have been 75 instead of 50. Other than that, I love the design and workmanship.
These speakers are great. I am very happy with the sound and the reasonable price.
I bought these speakers because I had purchased another set of them as rear speakers in a surround system 10 years ago. That system is still working well in the basement so I bought 2 more for my new surround system in the family room.
Pros: Sound, size & directional
Great speaker, more then expected. Sounds great in my new media room.
Pros: 100% worth it. Works great on my side wall for my 7.2 system
These speakers are the perfect speaker for my rears. It's only a mono signal, so you can't expect too much out of them. I do use them for both Video (DVD) playback and also for music playback. They really do help out by filling the room with crisp sound and the two tweeter horns fill it well. The center "woofer" adds to the overall sound to give a complete audio experience. Used for watching movies is the obvious main design for them and it's been a while since I've used rear speakers, due to some damage to the old Yamaha speakers I had. It's just rears, but they really add to a great experience. I have yet to have a bad experience with Klipsch speakers, and I hope these continue the trait and last a long time.
Pros: Great highs and decent mid Nice flush mounting system
Cons: None yet.

Wide Dispersion Surround Technology (WDST): The Klipsch R-14S surround loudspeaker delivers precise sonic detail through the careful positioning of two Tractrix Horn loaded titanium tweeters and one 4" woofer. By aligning the two horns at 90° with respect to each other, along with the woofer, the R-14S smoothly covers a 180° horizontal arc, allowing maximum placement flexibility. This unique Wide Dispersion Surround Technology delivers a new dimension of reality and convenience, and produces a smooth, seamless broad distribution of sound, which is the perfect vehicle for every surround format.
Dual 1" Horn-Loaded Tweeter: The R-14S surround speaker features Klipsch's proprietary Tractrix Horn technology mated with two 1" aluminum LTS tweeters, for impressive high-end response and greater extension, enhanced imaging and powerful dynamics.
4" Copper-Spun IMG Woofer: The Klipsch R-14S surround speaker is outfitted with one 4" Copper-Spun IMG woofer. The Copper-Spun IMG (Injection Molded Graphite) woofer is exceptionally light while being extremely rigid - providing remarkable low frequency response, with minimal cone breakup and distortion.
Acoustic Suspension Enclosure: The Klipsch R-14S surround loudspeaker employs an acoustic suspension (sealed) enclosure for tight, accurate, and natural sound.
MDF Cabinet: The Klipsch R-14S surround speaker features a MDF cabinet with a brushed polymer veneer black finish that seamlessly integrates into almost any room or decor. MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is utilized because of its damping characteristics for natural, uncolored sound without unwanted vibration and distortion.
Acoustically Transparent Grille: The Klipsch R-14S surround loudspeaker comes with a non-removable, black cloth grille that is acoustically transparent.
5-Way Binding Posts: The Klipsch Reference series surround speaker is fitted with sturdy 5-way binding posts to ensure a secure connection to many types of cable and connectors. The 5-way binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single or dual), pin-connectors, spade-lugs and bare wire (up to 10AWG).
Mounting Options: The Klipsch R-14S can be placed on a speaker stand, bookshelf, table, or other flat surface. It can also be wall-mounted.
Placement: The Klipsch WDST surround speakers should be placed approximately 2' above the listening position. Typically this will be about 5'-7' above the floor. The surrounds should be placed on the walls directly adjacent to the listening position. Another option would be on the wall behind the listening position.
Reference Series: The Klipsch Reference series consists of three floorstanding speakers (R-24F/R-26F/R-28F), two bookshelf speakers (R-14M/R-15M), one center channel speaker (R-25C), and one surround speaker (R-14S). The Klipsch Reference series line-up of loudspeakers sound great in stereo and home theater applications.
Optional Powered Sub: For bigger & deeper bass response, pair the R-14S surround loudspeakers with one of Klipsch's powered subwoofers (sold separately - see Accessories Tab).

Felt is matched the Yamaha RX-V383 receiver and the R-26F speaker towers and the R-10SW subwoofer I had purchased from you in January after doing my own analysis. I then asked your technical support what would be the best matches and they concurred. BTW I could have saved money purchasing this from Amazon but your sales support is second to none and was of greater value to me than the savings from Amazon. [ Robert Feb 10, 2018 ]

No unless you add a screw or hanger on one end. I think they wound function just fine [ JIM Jul 14, 2017 ]

The speakers have a keyhole mount on the back, which will mount very easily on a screw-head. They do not come with screws though. [ Carson Jul 07, 2017 ]
Yes ,,,They have key hole mounts on back and come with mounting hardware . [ Kelley Jul 07, 2017 ]
Yes, they have keyhole mounts on the back of the speaker. I would recommend applying studded rubber pads on the back to make the rest of the speaker flush with the key mount protrusion. It isn't horrible, and sticked out maybe 1/4". [ David Jul 07, 2017 ]
Yes. I have them wall mounted for my rear speakers in both my family room and my basement surround set ups. So, I have 4 of the R-14S Klipsch speakers. [ EDWARD Jul 07, 2017 ]
Yes Sir. All day and everyday. [ Kenneth Jul 07, 2017 ]
Yes they are! There's a keyhole slot on the back , so hang em right up. [ DAVID P Jul 07, 2017 ]
HI there! It can be. it has a place in the back at the top where a hook or some type of a brace can be inserted to be attached to a wall. Hope this help. [ Carlos Davis- Jul 07, 2017 ]
Carlos is correct; the Klipsch R-14S aren't bipole or dipole speakers. Instead, they use a unique "Wide Dispersion Surround Technology" which delivers a smooth and broad distribution of sound, making them ideal for use as the rear/surround speakers in your home theater system. If you would like to discuss further, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. I hope that helps! [ Larry Jan 18, 2017 ] Staff
They are monopole. They offer a more localized diffuse sound. [ Carlos Davis- Jan 10, 2017 ]
I do not have than on the side but I am using them with as a front height above my RF 280 kiplisch speakers. They sound okay. they are not that of a stronger speaker. [ Carlos Davis- Jul 07, 2017 ]
Absolutely. The Klipsch R-14S surround loudspeakers deliver detailed, effectual sound that make them ideal for use as the surround and/or surround-back speakers in a 7.2 home theater system. They feature a unique Wide Dispersion Surround Technology design which produces a broad distribution of theater-like surround effects to fill your room. If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. I hope that helps! [ Larry Nov 25, 2016 ] Staff
These speakers cannot be used with a Samsung soundbar. The bar will not have a way to power them nor a way to get the audio into them. There may be speakers that can work. I recommend calling an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 to check your bar's options. HTH! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101 [ Paul Sep 19, 2016 ] Staff
Surround back. [ Kenneth Nov 27, 2017 ]
If you have the Klipsch RS-62 II as your surround speakers now, I would add the R-14S speakers as the "surround back" or "rear surround" speakers for your 7-channel home theater setup. I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159 [ Larry Sep 02, 2016 ] Staff
