Take your Klipsch home theater to new heights

Our customers love the performance and value of Klipsch's Reference-series speakers. If you've got Reference tower or bookshelf speakers, the add-on R-14SA pair lets you experience Dolby Atmos. That's a newer type of surround sound that expands your movie soundtracks by reflecting sounds off the ceiling.

How do they work?

Each R-14SA speaker has a 4" woofer and a horn-loaded tweeter on its top baffle. These drivers are angled to reflect sound off of your ceiling and back down to your listening position. They're designed sit right on top of your existing Reference speakers. Use a pair with your front towers, or add another pair to the rear surround towers for an even more enveloping experience. They can also be wall-mounted for use as regular surround speakers.

Does your receiver have what it takes?

You'll need a home theater receiver with Dolby Atmos in order to get enhanced surround sound with these speakers.

Klipsch Design Philosophy: The Klipsch Reference R-14SA delivers on Klipsch's speaker design philosophy; low distortion, high efficiency, flat frequency response, broad dynamic range, and controlled directivity.

0.75" Horn-Loaded Tweeter: The R-14SA speaker features Klipsch's proprietary Tractrix Horn technology mated with a 0.75" aluminum LTS tweeter, for impressive high-end response and greater extension, enhanced imaging and powerful dynamics.

  • Tractrix Horn Technology: The square Tractrix Horn delivers a 90° (w) x 90° (h) dispersion pattern for a broader sound-stage.
  • LTS (Linear Travel Suspension): Behind each horn lies a 0.75" aluminum tweeter with a linear travel suspension to minimizes distortion for enhanced, detailed performance.

4" Copper-Spun IMG Woofer: The Klipsch R-14SA speaker is outfitted with a single 4" Copper-Spun IMG woofer. The Copper-Spun IMG (Injection Molded Graphite) woofer is exceptionally light while being extremely rigid - providing remarkable low frequency response, with minimal cone breakup and distortion.

MDF Cabinet: The Klipsch R-14SA speaker features a MDF cabinet with a brushed polymer veneer black finish that seamlessly integrates into almost any room or decor. MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is utilized because of its damping characteristics for natural, uncolored sound without unwanted vibration and distortion.

Acoustically Transparent Grille: The Klipsch R-14SA speaker comes with a removable, black cloth grille that is acoustically transparent.

Binding Posts: The Klipsch Reference series speaker is fitted with sturdy binding posts to ensure a secure connection to many types of cable and connectors. The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single only), pin-connectors, spade-lugs and bare wire (up to 10AWG).

Mounting Options: The Klipsch Reference series R-14SA offers flexibility when mounting the Dolby Atmos enabled speaker.

  • Rubber Feet: The Dolby Atmos enabled loudspeaker features four integrated rubber feet so you can sit the speakers on top of your existing front tower loudspeaker securely. The top of your loudspeaker needs to be flat and measure at least 6.0625" (w) x 11.25" (d).
  • Wall Mounting: The Klipsch R-14SA speaker features a single keyhole slot on the back of the cabinet for wall-mounting the speaker without any additional wall-mount bracket (mounting screws not supplied).

The Klipsch Reference series line-up of loudspeakers sound great in stereo and home theater applications.

Customer Q&A

Q
My A/V receiver is the Onkyo TX-RZ810. It is rated at 180W/channel for 6ohm speakers. I would like to purchase dolby atmos speakers but many are listed at 50W-100W peak. Should I be concerned about blowing the speakers due to too much power from my amp?
[ Michael  Feb 23, 2018 ]

A
I wouldn't be concerned. These are 8 ohm speakers, so that will drop your receiver's peak output to 130W, plus that is just peak power, not RMS. The sound going to these speakers should be filtered to Atmos-specific frequencies, which should have a limited range. I personally have an Onkyo TX-NR656 with these speakers and it works great.
[ Bryan  Mar 15, 2018 ]
A
Speakers are most often blown when an amp exceeds it power capabilities and goes into clipping, putting out ultra sonic square waves at high frequencies. Tweeters try to reproduce these full power square waves and fail. More speakers are blown from too little power than too much clean power.

I have the Onkyo RZ3100 rated at 200w per channel for 6 ohm speakers and added the Klipsch Reference R-14SA's about 6 months ago. I havent had any problems, they sound great!
[ TYLER  Mar 14, 2018 ]
Q
If I add these to the top of my tower speakers would that be all I need for a full Atmos experience or would I need more? I have a 5.2 setup at the moment.
[ VANCE  Nov 12, 2017 ]

A
A full ATMOS setup for the home is a 7.2.4 configuration - 11 channels. The 7 refers to the two front speakers, the surround side speakers pair, the rear surround speakers pair, and the single center channel. The 2 refers to two subs and the 4 refers to the two pairs of height - or ATMOS - speakers; a 7.2.4 configurations usually requires 11 channels. However, if your receiver allows for a 5.2.4 or 5.1.4 configuration then it will have two sets of height speakers amp outputs and you can add two pairs of height speakers. If your receiver only has one set of height amp outputs the you can only add one pair of height speakers. However, if you receiver allows assigning extra up unused zone channels you might be able to assign a 2nd pair of height speakers to them.

A
Not sure if I completely understand what you are asking. These speakers do work if you have an Atmos capable receiver. I ordered two pair and I have a 7.4.1 setup and am satisfied. I also bought these because I can place them on top of my tower speakers.
[ KEN  Nov 13, 2017 ]
Q
Will these fit on top of my Klipsch R-15M bookshelf speakers? I have them on stands around my room as front and rear channels and was thinking about upgrading to Atmos.

The R-15M are 7in wide 8 in deep 12.5 in high. Seems to me that you would have to put the R15M on its side. Hope this helps.

I have the same speakers. Yrs they do for on top, barely. The rubber feet just fit but the atmos speakers are deeper and hang over a few inches.
