Small size, powerful Klipsch sound

These compact monitors deliver room-filling sound that's richly detailed. With built-in 50 watts per channel and tried-and-true Klipsch speaker technology, they're a treat for the ears, and don't require a receiver. And they're ready to handle just about any source you can imagine, thanks to built-in Bluetooth, an onboard phono preamp for your turntable, and versatile digital inputs.

Klipsch R-15PM

The R-15PM speakers have a built-in phono preamp for adding a turntable of your choice (not included).

Ready for your turntable, TV, and more

Want to breathe some new life into your vinyl record collection? Just connect your turntable and flip the input selector switch to "phono," and you have a compact stereo system that'll fit easily in smaller spaces — no receiver or separate amplifier required.

The speakers also feature an optical digital audio input, so you can run digital sound from your TV directly to the R-15PM speakers — ideal setup for watching videos in a bedroom or guest room. A mono subwoofer output lets you add a powered sub to make movie soundtracks really come to life.

Music from your computer and portable devices

The R-15PMs also have a USB Type B input for connecting your PC or Mac®. Forget using your computer's headphone jack — this direct digital connection is the way to get much cleaner sound from your digital music files and streaming sources. But speaking of headphone jacks, the speakers also have a stereo minijack for those portable devices that don't have Bluetooth.

Packed with proven Klipsch speaker technology

Scan the reviews of Klipsch speakers on our website, and you'll see that our customers genuinely love the performance they deliver. Klipsch didn't skimp on these powered monitors, either. Each one features a resonance-deadening MDF cabinet to minimize sound degradation. Inside, a 1" aluminum diaphragm compression driver is mated with Klipsch's famous Tractrix® horn to deliver clean, clear highs. And the 5-1/4" spun copper woofer gives you solid, natural midrange and bass, with a rear-firing port to further reinforce the low frequencies.

They exceeded my expectations on clarity, base and how well they filled an 18'x12' room with a 9' ceiling. I am so pleased!

Pros: Sweet sound! Versatile, reasonably portable, affordable.

Cons: None so far. All they lack are handles for moving them around.

Maybe I got a lemon?

Carl from Fayetteville, AR on 9/9/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

From the get-go, gave an awful high-pitched hum when the switched to "phono" and at higher volumes. I contacted Crutchfield right away, and was advised it was probably an issue with my vintage turntable (and to be fair, I assumed as much and didn't look to test the problem further). Nearly two years later, I finally bought replacement turntable and leads, but the hum remains and is, in fact, worse, as it now comes in at lower volumes too. The speakers are out of warranty and I'm out of luck. Although there's nothing much Crutchfield could do, they at least suggested work-arounds (a pre-amp). I think I got a lemon from the normally reputable Klipsch. Crutchfield did all they could.

Pros: Good looking speakers.

Cons: High pitched hum when in phono mode.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers simply to play my iTunes music library while working at my computer. Was I ever shocked by what I heard. My go-to music selection for rating a speaker's sound quality is San Lorenzo by the Pat Metheny Group. If it can handle that, it can handle anything. I've loved Klipsch speakers ever since buying their Forte floor standing model in 1986. The R-15PM's simply reinforce my esteem. Sub-woofer? We don't need no stinking sub-woofers. I've only had the speakers for 30 days, so I can't speak to their long-term manufacturing quality. The sale price that I paid made this purchase even better.

Pros: Fine sound reproduction and impressive bass from these little beauties.

Cons:

VERY dark sound

J from Owensboro, KY on 5/31/2018

VERY dark sound... Not really pleasing to the ear for either vinyl or bluetooth. I bought them for my living room to play albums and as a set of "check" speakers for recordings from my studio... really aren't worth the price for sound.

Pros: Looks good...

Cons: VERY dark sounding... little high frequency response. Not worth the price imo...

Yan from Foxboro, MA on 5/15/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers for their versatility and have them connected to my desktop computer. I don't need to use a separate amplifier and can connect a phonograph record player at a later date. I plan to digitize some of my old records. The speakers sound great, but I plan to add a subwoofer at a later date. There is a built in plug for that as well. I think the speakers will benefit from having a subwoofer connected to them.

Pros: Sound great Built in amplifier Can connect almost anything

Cons: Low bass could be better, could benefit from connecting a subwoofer

Incredible speakers

Paul from Frederick, MD on 5/2/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this pair of powered monitors for my office at work. What sold me on them was the included amplifier and all the connection options. I was able to finally bring a turn table into the mix at work without going overboard with a preamp and integrated amplifier. I was very pleased when I realized just how great these speakers sound. Super clear and defined. There is only one thing lacking and that is powerful bass. They do sound great on their own but I am going to add a powered sub to them and I am pretty sure I will be pleased.

Pros: Sound very clear and defined. All the connection possibilities without needing a separate amp. Includes cables for all sorts of connections. Look very nice and have a good weight to them.

Cons: Lacks deep, powerful bass.

I have had bose speakers, they are good, but these speakers are in a totally different class. I wanted to buy studio monitors. and I was skeptical with the price of these, but when I got them, cranked them up, I was completely amazed at the clarity, the sound, the fullness! I will buy their outdoor speakers, and I am completely satisfied with these monsters!

Pros: all good - price, sound quality, clarity

Cons: nada

Great speakers for my Desktop

Jim from Bahama, NC on 3/14/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Have used these speakers for about a week. They have great sound. The volume is more that sufficient. Would consider possible getting a sub-woofer in the future.

Pros: Great sound quality! More than enough volume.

Cons: Takes up a lot of desk space, but I knew that when I ordered them. Was more interested in the sound quality and I got that in spades.

Beautiful sound for both TV and music!

The Crutchfield team did a fantastic job identifying this product for my apartment. Whether I pair the speakers with my television, record player, or computer for steaming music, the quality of the sound is always very pleasant and without fatigue. The speakers pair easily and quickly, and the remote control is very convenient. I have not connected a sub, but after over a month of using these speakers, I really do not feel like they require one.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers to replace a pair of Bose Companion computer type speakers for listening to Spotify music with my Amazon Echo Dot. The Bose speakers were okay for the price but I was looking for more bass and fuller sound. They did not disappoint. I am very happy with the Klipsch R-15PM's. I now have the bass I was looking for plus sound that really fills the room. The remote control for turning on/off and adjusting volume is a very nice feature.

Pros: Great sound captures the high response and decent bass. Very well packed and quick delivery from Crutchfield.

Cons: A little bit expensive

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Happy with the sound. We are using this as a simple way to improve the sound of the TV in our Living Room. We live in an "open concept" house, which means that the Living Room shares space with the Kitchen, the Dining Room, and the Entryway. The sound from the TV easily got lost and was very difficult to hear audio dialogue when the TV was on. It is an easy solution that we are very satisfied with. The powered speakers mean we just plug them in to the TV and to the Power, and they work! These speakers look good, and more importantly, sound good. The dialogue, and overall sound is clean and crisp. The bass notes are ok without a sub, and the mids and highs are distinct and acceptable.

Pros: great sound. convenient and good looking improvement.

Cons: wish there was a way to "power on" with the TV (without a separate remote).

Very pleasant sound from small speakers. Flexible connections allow me to hard wire (mini connectors) an Amazon Echo Dot to these self-powered speakers as well as use Bluetooth to serve as speakers for my Samsung smart tv. The addition of a subwoofer makes for very good listening.

I have these speakers connected to an internet tuner in my dining room. They continue to sound shrill and screechie after several months of intermittent use. A 10" Polk subwoofer is a welcome addition, but I suppose they may need another years time to mellow out.

Fantastic speakers for the price. Currently have them hooked up to a turntable using the phono setup with the built in preamp, but still having the ability to turn it to bluetooth for Itunes makes these very versatile speakers. Sound quality is excellent and well balanced, I do not see a need to add a sub-woofer.

Could not be more impressed with this Klipsch set. I have a Bose system for my home theater setup and these sound equal if not better than the Bose. Currently have them hooked up to a turntable using the phono setup with the built in preamp is great, but still having the ability to turn it to bluetooth for itunes makes these the most versatile speakers i've ever owned. Needless to say, 5 stars, couldn't be happier!

Great part of a turntable-powered speaker system.

David from San Diego, CA on 9/6/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased the speakers along with the Pro-Ject Carbon turntable for my son. He has a small apartment and this combination appeared to be the right size. We were not dissapointed! There is plenty of volume for the space. Sound quality is excellent and well balanced, we did not see a need to add a sub-woofer. It has been awhile since I have listened to records and I was amazed by the superior sound quality. For your reference, the lps we listened to included early 60s rock and roll, afro-rock, Harry Belafonte and Lou Reed. Packaging of the speakers was excellent. They arrived without a blemish, clear instructions and all the wires and cords needed to hook it up to the turntable (and other possible audio sources that we did not have available). I am thinking of buying a similar system for my wife and I as we want to return to vinyl music listening.

Pros: Easy to setup, excellent packaging, balanced sound

Only good with added subwoofer

Brian from Los Angeles, CA on 5/17/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace my HK SoundSticks II on my computer desk. I was quite surprised at the lack of bass. Going from the SoundSticks II that have a separate subwoofer, I felt like these things were WEAK! Without a sub, these R-15PM's just feel shallow and really don't deliver. Before I decided to return them, I bought a Klipsch R-8SW to pair with the speakers. While I was at it, I also bought the B&M MM-1's because I am a fan of B&W and was curious. So now my test was going to be: SoundSticks II vs. Klipsch R-15PM + R-8SW vs. B&W MM-1. First of all, the B&M's were disappointing. The mids sounded good, but they also lacked depth, punch, and especially considering the price, I'd say they came in last between the 3 setups. Then came the Klipsch setup, with the added woofer. Alright! Now these bookshelf speakers sounded good! One other reviewer noted that they sound better when loud, and I'd agree. They sound okay at low volumes, but the quality shines when you turn it up. These NEED a woofer. I'm not a bass head who needs it bumping (I'm in an office building so I can't be too loud). If you have $700 then this is a great setup (or wait for a sale). Otherwise, I still praise the HK SoundSticks - at under $200 they deliver amazing sound.

Pros: Clean pure sound, especially when turned up loud.

Cons: They are weak without a subwoofer and lack depth. I'd argue you cannot use these without buying an extra sub. I think Klipsch must have intended the use of an additional sub because the woofer works well with mids but doesn't come close to delivering low frequencies.

OUTSTANDING = WOW = These little babies truly are amazing and not to mention they are very attractive without the grill cover. Would totally buy again, downsized to a turntable and speakers only. and i couldn't be happier. Crutchfield really came through, outstanding customer service.

Cons: AAAAAHHHH ----- NONE!!!

Great sounding minimalist setup

Matthew from Ann Arbor, MI on 3/16/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've owned these speakers for about 11 months now, so I've had quite a bit of listening time with them. I have them paired with a Klipsch subwoofer and they sound fantastic! The R-15PM's sound really good on their own, so if you're on the fence about the subwoofer, give them some listening time first before you decide. I mainly use them for listening to music, and the multiple input methods are nice. I've used them all at one time or another, but lately I've been using Bluetooth mostly. The simplicity of setup and use of the R-15PM is really nice... I had an older receiver set aside for when I set up this room, and I am happy to say I didn't have to use it. The self-contained amp is quite a nice plus, especially if going for minimalist setup. Lastly, while not the most important aspect by any means, these speakers look really sharp and bring a really nice modern feel to a world bloated by sound bars and little phone-dock speakers. I can say that after owning them for the better part of a year, if I had the choice to buy them again, I would without hesitation.

Pros: Sound great, self-contained amp, easy setup, multiple input modes and rock-solid Bluetooth, speakers look very sharp, subwoofer out if looking for more bass, which allows the R-15PM's to maintain really great sound quality at a good frequency range.

Cons: Some may consider a con that for bass response, Klipsch chose to reproduce tight even bass down to 60 Hz or so and utilize subwoofer if wanting to augment for deeper, fuller bass. Other powered wireless speakers have dedicated small 'woofers' instead of a subwoofer out as a self-contained system with a bit more emphasis in the lower frequency range.

Excellent sound quality, small, yet powerful

Jeff from Knoxville, Tennessee on 3/5/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I did my research and purchased these speakers for my Son as a birthday gift. His Grandfather had given him an old turntable and he needed a way to listen to it. Rather than purchase a receiver or an amp and new speakers, I purchased the Klipsch R-15PM's. They are truly amazing. The sound quality is unmatched and the flexibility of the system also allows use of Bluetooth, connection to the television and a computer. I would recommend these speakers to anyone looking for great sound in a small package.

Pros: Great sound quality Tremendous clarity and power Small, yet powerful Flexible modes of connection Bluetooth quality is great.

Cons: None for the uses we intended

Clear sound

Jaime from Nanuet, NY on 1/4/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just love the sound that comes out of these speakers. We paired them with Bluetooth and so far it works beautifully - you can hear a pin drop if there was a pin drop in the song. We ordered the sub to go with it because there isn't much bass - I think the pair is going to be out of this world. I am a first time Klipsch buyer and am very impressed.

Nice Speakers

John from Staten Island, NY on 1/3/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a fantastic set of speakers, one thing though, you need to feed it good material, and also feed them with a good DAC/AMP, I connect it to my laptop which has a build in SABRE DAC using the coax 3.5 mm audio connection, feeding it high resolution FLAC files, the speakers sound fantastic, connecting it via the USB they sound good, but nothing compared to the coax with DAC combination. I also use a Burson HA-160 desktop headphone amp, I connect the Burson to the DAC coax 3.5 mm in my laptop and connect the speakers to the Burson headphone out, it is one sweet combination. When I don't use my laptop I connect the speakers to the Burson which is connected to my Sony ZX2 DAP to play my FLAC files, and again it sounds fantastic. If you want to bring out the best in these speakers you need to hook it up with a nice DAC/AMP combination, it makes a world of difference. I also use a Klipsch sub, which came with my old Klipsch Cinema 10 satellite system.

Pros: Look and sound great, typical klipsch sound.

Cons: Would be nice if they had a nice DAC/AMP combination built in, I am sure the cost would be a bit more, but it would be worth while.

Now Hear This - Fabulous Sound in a Bluetooth Speaker!

Adam from Yorba Linda, CA on 1/1/2017

These were on my Christmas list and Santa (wife) ordered them from Crutchfield and put them under my tree... (Thanks honey!). I had been looking for a set of speakers to feed my iPhone to at my airplane hangar / man cave and was about to order a traditional receiver and speakers when low and behold I discovered Klipsch had these out. First thing I noticed - heavy duty (they weigh a lot for their size) and are very well built. Connecting my phone via bluetooth didn't require a manual - I just pushed the Bluetooth button on the front of the main speaker for 3 seconds until it flashed and connected. The sound? Nothing short of amazing! Easily outperforms any other Bluetooth speaker set I have owned (including several of the Bose wave radios and independent speakers). Now this is not stuffy high end audiophile type quality - but in the hangar / mancave - this set of speakers Rocks! Excellent value for the price point.

Pros: High quality sound, heavy build quality, easy to hook up and use. A tremendous value for the price point and the purpose

Cons: No grills to cover the speakers - you need to like the exposed look!

Great option for people with space constraints or a small budget

Nathan from Baltimore, MD on 12/27/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Background: I purchased these speakers for my Dad for Christmas. He loves nice quality speakers but has given his floor standing paradigms to me because he did not have room for them. Set-up: This speakers could not be easier to set-up. We started off with Bluetooth which involves holding the Bluetooth symbol on the remote until the LED flashes and then finding the speakers on the Bluetooth source. It does not support aptx or other high quality Bluetooth options as far as I know. We hooked the USB audio and the computer instantly recognized the speakers. Optical was just as easy as the USB audio when I hooked it up to my TV. Sound: The sound is good. It is hard to go from continuously listening to more expensive floor standing speakers to small self powered book shelf speakers and be objective but I will try my best. I think the speakers do a good job with music and movies. The sound is not as open as I would like it to be but again I have to think about the size and the price. There is a clear lack of bass which isn't surprising and I liked that you can attach an external subwoofer. I think the speakers do a better job with music than movies. We streamed Tidal CD quality music when testing Bluetooth and USB audio. All the music sounded good especially for the price. Movies we noticed it was lacking a bit for action movies. When bullets fired it was missing something. All in all they are great speakers for the price I got them on sale so that helped.

Pros: Easy to Set-up, External subwoofer option, multiple inputs, powerful for the size, sound quality is good fro music, clear voices, detailed music listening

Cons: Action movies a bit lacking with sub hooked up, no external crossover setting as far as I can tell, have a closed off sound due to size

Great sound / versatile

William from Holland, OH on 12/22/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

What a truly awesome unit. I bought this unit to replace an old CD unit that had died in kitchen. It is very versatile, in that I could hook up a CD player to it and also stream via Bluetooth from my iPhone. Work flawlessly. The sound was really tight and lacking in bass at first. But, now that I have 50+ hours on the system it has really warmed up. Great sound stage on its own and even better with the 8" Sony powered sub I added. Really nice to have a sub out as this unit does and many others I considered did not. If you are on the fence... pull the trigger on the Klipsch R-15PM powered speaker system, you will be glad you did.

Pros: Versatile, Looks great, Sounds great

Cons: None thus far

Love these speakers! They were extremely easy to set up, just plug them into the wall, run the wire between the speakers and you are ready to play music with bluetooth and an aux cord if you have it, and it was only one additional wire connection to hook them up to my Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit SB turntable. This combo of turntable and speakers is great! I may add the Klipsch R-10SW soon but these speakers are great on their own. And they are some of the best looking speakers out there.

Good clean sound, decent volume for the size, flexible connections-great for a small room listening setup or monitors for home recording (my application). Only nit-pick is the finish-it's a heavyweight textured vinyl that feels kind of sleazy, and I wonder about the durability. Other than that, though, I'm very pleased. I want to highlight the remote-does everything you want without hunting through 1000 buttons.

Pros: Great sound, legacy connections, easy to use remote

Cons: Icky finish

Great speakers

Bob from Lafayette, CO on 11/30/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are very efficient active speakers, which offer a great deal of flexibility regarding inputs. To my ears they are a bit shrill and lack deep bass, something that can be corrected with an added subwoofer. Nonetheless, they sound great as is and the remote is very convenient !

Pros: Compact and convenient to use. Easy setup. Great for a dorm room.

Cons: A bit shrill.

Great Value

Pricey but great product

Barry from Cleveland Ohio on 9/20/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First - dealing with Crutchfield was super easy with great follow-up. Product delivered on time. Speakers were a gift for my college age son. He loves being able to plug in a turntable and the Bluetooth. Remote is nice to have. Sound is super clear. Speakers are silent between songs or breaks in music even when cranked up. Wish it had treble and bass controls. Agree with other reviews that it needs the subwoofer for good bass. Overall happy. Speakers sound good as they are and even though I know I can get more bass with a subwoofer that will make these already expensive bookshelf speakers even pricier. Also wish they had grill covers.

Pros: Multiple inputs. Clear powerfull sound. Bluetooth. Remote. Can add a subwoofer.

Cons: Pricey. Lacking bass and treble controls. A little big for bookshelf speakers. No grills covers.

Clean Sound

Dan from Eureka, CA on 8/27/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Super clean sound. I would recommend getting a subwoofer though to round out that sound. Easy to set up. This is my third (and fourth) Klipsch product.

Pros: Easy setup, Great input choices.

Cons: Boxes were damaged, one moderately but no effect to the product. Expect to get a subwoofer but once you do, wow.

A little dissapointed

John from jupiter, FL on 8/22/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just received the R-15PM speakers after considerable research. Speakers are fine quality and easy to set up. Just like setting up a TV sound bar. Using them with a turntable, Samsung TV, and Bluetooth from my phone. Highs and Mid ranges are clear, but I am dissapointed in the total lack of bass. Sound better at higher volume, but I'm not into blasting my sound. I'm resigned to adding a separate sub-woof to get any bottom end at all. My room is 14' by 16" and these may be too small for the area. Pricey if you have to add a Sub as well.

Pros: compact, easy to set up

Cons: No bass

Too high expectations

Randall from Los Angeles, CA on 8/17/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My expectation were way too high for these speakers. I thought it would match the sound of my vintage setup . It didn't My ear found the sound a little plastic. But the Bluetooth and amp worked great. Maybe it would sound more full with vinyl and a subwoofer. I also wish it had some type of tone control. But the speakers were very well made and looked great. Space saver too.

Pros: Build, features, space saver and quality.

Cons: I wanted fine wine on a beer budget.

Great All-in-one

Clay W from Houston, TX on 7/4/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are really excellent sounding powered monitors, and are well worth the price you pay for the convenience and versatility. The built in phono pre-amp is great, and the ability to switch between multiple connected sources at the touch of a button is great for jumping between vinyl and bluetooth and usb sources. The bass and treble response is clear and clean, mids are nice and forward but neutral so the nuances of the source really shine through. Awesome value for an all-in-one powered setup with few to no flaws.

Pros: Neutral, powerful sound and versatility. Good value despite the price tag.

Cons: Might want to link up an external subwoofer for sub-bass in large rooms

Nifty speakers with phono amp built in - big space savings

David from Brooklyn, NY on 6/30/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently inherited a turntable with no speakers, no amplifier, nothing... I didn't want to spend a ton to get nice sound out of it. I was attracted to these as a sleek one-piece accompaniment. My first set from Crutchfield was faulty - the internal phono amp didn't work in one of the speakers. The replacement set works great.

Pros: Bluetooth connectivity has very good range ... ability to add a subwoofer ... attractive units which save shelf space ... ability to override with your own phono amp if one 'outgrows' the internal phono amp. Intuitive remote.

Cons: No 'out' if one wanted to pass signals through to another device (to, say, record MP3s from records).

I will get right to the point. These speakers are great! They provide enormous sound for their size, and they are well-suited for home theater. I just tested these bad boys out by watching the Saving Private Ryan DVD. WOW! :-)

Pros: Great high, midrange, and bass response.

Cons: None.

R-15PM

Mitch from Hubertus, WI on 2/19/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speakers. Did not really expect great sound quality but I wanted something better than your run of the mill computer speakers for my desktop pc. Well let me tell you, these do not disappoint at all. I was actually blown away with the sound these put out when playing lossless audio files. Great highs/mids and impressive bass for 5 1/4 speakers. Add a subwoofer and you'll really have some full sound. Do not hesitate to buy these speakers!

Pros: Clean powerful sound with great bass for this size speaker. Onboard amp seems to fit these speakers perfectly.

Features

Two-Way Driver Design: The Klipsch R-15PM powered bookshelf speakers deliver room-filling sound from a two-way driver design. Each speaker includes a 1" aluminum diaphragm compression driver mated to 90° x 90° square Tractrix Horn and 5.25" copper spun magnetically shielded IMG woofer. The tweeter and woofer are crossed over at 1800Hz.

  • Tractrix Horn-Loaded Tweeter: Each speaker has a Tractrix horn-loaded 1" aluminum dome tweeter for a natural, lifelike sound. The square Tractrix horn delivers a 90° x 90° dispersion pattern for a broader sound-stage.
  • Copper Spun IMG Woofer: Each loudspeaker uses a copper spun IMG (Injection Molded Graphite) 5.25" woofer for accurate midrange and midbass performance.

Built-in Amplification: The Klipsch R-15PM's "Right Speaker" employs a built-in, ultra-low noise 50 watt x 2 channel amplifier to power both speakers in the system. The built-in amplifier has been custom deigned to maximize driver performance and eliminate the need for external amplification. The "Right Speaker" and "Left Speaker" are fitted with binding-post speaker terminals on the back of the cabinet and come with 16' of speaker wire (18AGW) to connect the speakers together.

Bass Reflex MDF Cabinet: The Klipsch R-15PM employs a bass reflex enclosure with a rear-firing port for greater efficiency and bigger bass response. The ported enclosure features a MDF cabinet finished with a brushed black polymer veneer. The rigid MDF cabinet utilizes internal cross-bracing to minimize panel vibrations that can color sound. No grilles come with these speakers.

Bluetooth Music Streaming: The Klipsch R-15PM active loudspeakers feature built-in Bluetooth A2DP/AVRCP technology which allows you to wirelessly stream audio from your Bluetooth-enabled Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Windows PC/Phone, or Mac computer/laptop. You'll be able to stream stored music or music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled device and control basic playback from the included remote control. Advanced playback control and song/artist information will still be done from your Bluetooth device. Once paired, the R-15PM will automatically re-connect with your device when in wireless range (up to 33').

Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Klipsch R-15PM.

USB-B Input: The "Right Speaker" of the Klipsch R-15PM features a rear-panel USB (type-B) input for connecting your Windows PC or Mac computer/laptop. Through the R-15PM's USB connection, you are able to play music files (up to 24-bit/96kHz) stored on your Windows PC or Mac computer/laptop through the powered speaker system.

Optical Digital Input: The Klipsch R-15PM is fitted with an optical (toslink) digital input on the back of the "Right Speaker" for connection to a digital audio device like your TV, Blu-ray, or CD player. The speaker's optical digital input will accept 2ch stereo PCM only (up to 24-bit/96kHz).

Dual Analog Inputs w/ Phono Switch: The Klipsch R-15PM is equipped with two analog audio inputs on back of the "Right Speaker"; there is one stereo minijack (3.5mm) input for connecting a portable audio device with a headphone jack and one stereo RCA input for connecting an analog audio component. The stereo RCA input has a Phono switch which allows you to connect a turntable, so you can enjoy your vinyl record collection.

Sub Out: The Klipsch R-15PM features a mono-sub RCA output on the back of the "Right Speaker" that allows you to connect a powered subwoofer for added bass response. Your powered sub should have its own low-pass crossover.

IR Remote: The Klipsch R-15PM includes an IR wireless remote control for wireless operation of the powered speaker, plus control of your Bluetooth paired devices. The remote offers easy access to system features such as dedicated source selection, volume up/down, play/pause, and previous/next track. Make sure to point the IR remote at the IR sensor on the "Right Speaker".

AC Power: The Klipsch R-15PM's "Right Speaker" which is equipped with the built-in amplifier must be plugged into an AC power outlet using the included 68" detachable AC power cord.

Quality, size, clarity, convenience. I love that I can stream music via Bluetooth or choose to wire in. They're the best option for all the ways I listen to music. And I can add a sub effortlessly. Depending on your setup. I use these and a Polk PS10 front firing sub for my computer, and it works perfect for games, movies, and music. [ JASON  Aug 31, 2018 ]
You can use either. The R-15PM features a mono-sub RCA output on the back of the "Right Speaker" that allows you to connect a powered subwoofer for added bass response so, you can use almost any powered subwoofer model you'd like. I hope that helps. My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Ryan [ Ryan  Sep 05, 2018 ]  Staff
I'm using the USB on a windows machine, not familiar with Mac, sorry but for windows it was just plug and play so I would think it would be same for Mac. [ Biji  Jul 16, 2018 ]
I had to manually select it the first time on the Mac, (System Preferences>Sound>Output Tab "Select a device for sound output"), but after that it recognizes it each time it's plugged in. You still need to select it on the speaker input by selecting USB on the Speaker remote or using the input knob (LED should be white for USB) . [ Eric  Jul 16, 2018 ]
No, it's plug and play on the Mac. [ Eric  Jul 16, 2018 ]
Yes, they play as a stereo pair (not mono) with distinct left and right channels. [ Jennifer  Apr 08, 2018 ]
Bluetooth being a digital connection (wireless) can transfer data of any form. When the device connects, it uses a predesignated profile, dictating the way that device can be handeled. So when connecting your device sending the data knows the recieving device (R-15PM) is a stereo device. Thus sending a stereo signal. In sort, yes. [ Michael  Apr 03, 2018 ]
Yes, Bluetooth carries stereo. Because of the limited channel capacity on many Bluetooth connections, the stereo information is often compressed and "lossy"; therefore, the music may not sound as good as it would over a wired connection. I have used a Bluetooth connection between my laptop computer and the Klipsch R-15PM speakers to play music, and the music sounded okay to me. [ David J.  Apr 03, 2018 ]
Yes, Bluetooth is capable of stereo; I use it often with these speakers. [ David  Apr 03, 2018 ]
Yes, it is in stereo. You're going to have to trust me on this one. I am sure Crutchfield will have an article somewhere about it, but I stream in stereo both with these speakers and in my car. [ Robert  Apr 03, 2018 ]
Yes, most modern Bluetooth devices (including the R-15PM) support the Bluetooth A2DP/AVRCP standard, which supports high quality 2.1 stereo transmission. With the R15-PM, you also have the option of multiple hard wired connection types (and the ability to switch between sources using the included remote). [ Eric  Apr 03, 2018 ]
This particular speakers (Klipsch RP-15M) is a powered speaker set, which is meant to use without an audio receiver. Only way it can be connected to your receiver is, if the receiver have a pre-amp connection. if you want to use the receiver as the power source the you might want to look into a non powered speaker like the Klipsch Reference R-15M. Hope this helps [ Biji  Dec 30, 2017 ]
It also has a TOSLINK port that allows a digital connection, which most CD players support. [ Eric  Apr 03, 2018 ]
Yes, I have done this. There is a set of standard RCA input jacks you can use. They are there for a turntable, but they have a switch so you can change the inputs from phono to Line-in. [ Robert  Dec 18, 2017 ]
Yes, there's both an optical and a standard RCA jack. A CD player will attach to either. [ Eric  Dec 18, 2017 ]
Unfortunately there are no grill covers for the speakers. And no easy way to fabricate your own and attach some. that was my one objection to this unit as well. But all of the other plusses (especially the sub woofer out put) made me pull the trigger and buy them anyway. I got used to the look because the sound is amazing after about 40 hours of break in time. [ WILLIAM  Apr 18, 2017 ]
There is no grill to cover the front, even if they offer it as optional there is no way to attache it. I wish there was a grille cover, my kids are constantly touching the woofer. Sound is awesome. [ Biji  Apr 13, 2017 ]
I don't recall seeing anything like that in the box. All a matter of personal taste, I guess. They do look good once set-up next to other equipment and perform well. [ James  Apr 13, 2017 ]
Hey Gary! This is Jane with Crutchfield. I have these speakers in my living room right now! What a nice sound! These do not have a grill to cover them. Thanks for reaching out! I hope you have a good day! [ Brooke  Apr 12, 2017 ]
Hi Gary - I bought the Klipsch Reference R-15PMs earlier this year. I didn't see an option for an optional grill; in fact Klipsch products, as a brand, are often recognizable by their unusual copper-colored woofers. [ Carl A.  Apr 12, 2017 ]
No cover offered. The gold cone is a Klipsch trademark so they do not cover their speakers. [ David  Apr 12, 2017 ]
Unfortunately they do not come with a grill. Actually they are very unique looking, especially when you see them in person. [ Richard  Apr 12, 2017 ]
No, these come without grills, and there's no provision for grill mounting. [ Eric  Apr 12, 2017 ]
No i don't think they can be from what i read in the users manual as they have to be powered so they would not allow any signal through them. [ Jason B.  Apr 05, 2017 ]
NO. I would not recommend trying to integrate these speakers with another system of theater speakers. I tried using the Klipsch R-15PM speakers in parallel with another set, and there was a noticeable audio delay between the two sets; sounded like an echo. [ David J.  Mar 29, 2017 ]
It has a subwoofer output on the speaker. I bought a subwoofer that works with a wireless kit,R-112 sw, from Klipsch. You can use a wire if you do not want to spend for the kit. The manual shows you the connection. Would have put the link but they do not allow links in responses. Go to the Klipsch site and search for the speaker. It will have the link to the manual. [ james  Jul 13, 2016 ]
The speaker has a subwoofer output at the back of it. [ Julius  Jul 13, 2016 ]
See page 3 of the R-15PM Owner's Manual (available at Crutchfield's webpage on the Klipsch Reference R-15PM). I haven't tried setting up a subwoofer yet, but according to the Owner's Manual, there is a "SUB OUT" (labeled jack 6 on Owner's Manual page 3) for a single-cable direct connection to a powered subwoofer. The connection is an RCA-type mono output. The RCA-type mono cable needed is not included with the R-15PM speakers, but that type of cable is common at most audio stores, including Crutchfield. The R-15PM includes a remote control that can control the SUB OUT signal's amplitude -- one way to control the volume of the bass coming from the subwoofer. No doubt most powered subwoofers have a knob or remote control as well to manage volume. Many powered subwoofers -- for example the Klipsch Reference R-110SW Subwoofer at Crutchfield -- have a RCA-type line feed input (jack LEFT/LFE or L/LFE) that provides the jack needed to complete the connection at the subwoofer end. So to connect the R-15PM to a subwoofer, simply use an RCA-type mono cable to connect the R-15PM's SUB OUT jack to the power subwoofer's LFE jack. An alternate way to connect the R-15PM is to use a wireless subwoofer kit like the Klipsch WA-2, available at Crutchfield. I haven't done thorough research, but it appears that the Klipsch WA-2 kit will work well with the Klipsch R-15PM and a Klipsch powered subwoofer like the R-110SW. Hope this answer helps. David [ David J.  Jul 13, 2016 ]
There's a sub out on the right monitor so you can just direct wire it. [ Clayton  Jul 13, 2016 ]
There is a sub-out on the 'master' speaker. You can either run a subwoofer cable( single RCA type) to your sub and be done or if your subwoofer supports it (R115sw, R112sw, or R110sw) you can buy a wireless subwoofer kit and connect the transmitter to the master and the receiver to the sub and you are done. There are easy to find pictures of the ports available on the back of the speaker from Klipsch. It is really easy. [ Robert  Jul 13, 2016 ]
Thanks for your question. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget. [ Krissy  Mar 28, 2016 ]  Staff
Yes, it does. [ Quentin Omar  Mar 15, 2016 ]
I'm using these with a fiio DAC and it sounds better using the DAC then the digital input, that makes me question if there's direct amp. I know this doesn't answer your question, but thought it might help. [ cinar  Mar 15, 2016 ]
