Get great sound throughout your home without sacrificing an inch of floor space. The Klipsch® R-1650-C sports a 6-1/2" polypropylene woofer for impressive mids and bass, plus a 1" dome tweeter for smooth highs. Use them as surround sound speakers in an all-Klipsch home theater, or install them in pairs for stereo listening with your multi-room audio system. You can paint the grille to blend seamlessly into any room's décor.
An optional in-ceiling bracket is recommended for installing the R-1650-C in new construction.
Great speaker, great price. What else could you ask for.

Average Customer Review(s):
Get sounding speakers, Would recommend these to anyone. Will be purchasing an additional 2.
We replaced our existing ceiling speakers in the kitchen with these speakers and immediately noticed better sound from the Klipsch. The highs and lows stand out more and the overall sound is much better. A very good upgrade for a great price!
nice quality for the price haven't installed them yet so can't review for sound. I will update my review after they are installed.
Great speaker, great price. What else could you ask for.
Pros: Easy to install, great sound
These speakers were great to add Dolby Atmos to my home theatre. Installation was easy. Beware that if you have blown insulation there are some good tricks on YouTube on how not to make a mess. I did not view these until after and wow a lot of insulation came down. Totally happy with the sound.
Pros: Sound great Easy install
Had really high hopes for these in-ceiling speakers. The highs are much crisper than my previous speakers, was hoping for a more powerful base, since I was moving up in woofer size. The sound is clean, like you'd expect from Klipsch. Super easy to install! Next purchase, I'd probably move up a couple of levels rather than go with entry line. Good value, Crutchfield is excellent to deal with, everything arrived as promised.
Pros: Love the highs, easy to install
Cons: Was hoping for a deeper base and significant mid range upgrade. Definitely better, but next time I'd go up a couple of models.
What a great sounding speaker! And price seems to be right.Glad I bought.
Pros: Sound and price.
Cons: None so far.
Excellent product and the price is very affordable.
Pros: Simple to install and sounds great with my sound system. The price was very reasonable and allowed me to seamlessly add two new surround speakers for height sound in Dolby Atmos context
Cons: None so far
I have Infinity CS60 wall speakers next to my TV. I already had 8" holes open in the ceiling in the back of the room but no speakers. Crutchfield made the recommendation of the Klipsch R-1650-C to match with the Infinity speakers. It is a great match as they sound excellent as rear surround-sound speakers. I don't really know how they sound when used as main speakers, but I suspect they sound even better than my Infinitys. Anyway - another good recommendation by their sales staff.
Pros: Well constructed and designed. Great sound. Easy to install.
I went above my original budget, but I am very happy I did as these speakers met my every expectation. Nothing worse than installing something and then being disappointed forever that you were too cheap to by the right product!
Pros: Piece of cake install. Sound great
Great sound and Crutchfield is a professional class act business, I made a mistake and Crutchfield corrected it with one phone call in about 2 minutes. An associate answered the phone and was able to solve the problem, no transferring from person to person, it was refreshing to get that sort of customer service.
Pros: competitive price, excellent quality and reviews.

Two-Way Design: The Klipsch R-1650-C in-ceiling speaker employs a 6.5" polymer-cone woofer and a large motor structure for high sensitivity. A coaxially mounted 1" polymer-dome tweeter distributes smooth, clear highs over a wide area. The Klipsch R-1650-C in-ceiling speaker brings dynamic acoustic performance to both home and commercial environments.
Basket/Frame: The R-1650-C has a sturdy ABS basket and frame. The frame can be painted to match any decor (a clear paint mask is supplied to protect the drivers from overspray). The aluminum mesh grille is also paintable.
Spring-Clip Terminals: The Klipsch R-1650-C in-ceiling speaker features two spring-clip terminals which will accept either bare speaker wire or pin-connectors. The spring-clip speaker terminals are color-coded (red/black) for easy identification between positive and negative.
Power Specifications Note: The manufacturer has specified the maximum power handling of this speaker as 35 watts RMS (140 W Peak). Klipsch has also published a recommended amplifier power specification as 70 watts.
Installation: The speaker requires a cutout diameter of 8.1875" and a mounting depth of 3.9375". The speaker should be installed in drywall at least 3/8" thick. It can also be installed in a drop ceiling (2' x 2' or 2' x 4' ceiling tiles only). In both cases, to maximize the acoustic performance of the in-ceiling speakers, Klipsch recommends you replace the original mounting panel with 1/2" or 3/4" plywood or MDF. A cardboard template is included to assist you in making the cutout.

wanted to do Dolby Atmos and not spend an arm and a leg on ceiling speakers. Has great reviews as well [ Brady Apr 21, 2018 ]
i have them for last 8 years i have them and their service has been excellent [ Ricardo Jan 10, 2018 ]
Great value for money. I have used these in two home theater installations, and the sound is fantastic while installation is a breeze. The 8 inch version of these speakers are quite large, so be thoughtful before you order, and you may prefer these smaller yet still quite powerful alternatives. [ Bruce Jul 13, 2017 ]

Klipsch speakers sound better than any others I've heard. [ JOHN Aug 31, 2016 ]

Thanks for your question. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget. [ Krissy Dec 21, 2017 ] Staff
John, I had about 10" of insulation. I had to move it away from the hole to mount the speaker. When it was done I just pushed it gently back to surround but not cover the back of the speaker. They sound great. [ ROGER Sep 05, 2017 ]
Yes, I installed them without back boxes at first didn't sound that good, after I installed the back boxes the sound quality is much better [ peter Sep 04, 2017 ]
Given the favorable sensitivity rating (91 dB) and the recommended power for the Klipsch R-1650C, an amplifier producing 17 watts per channel should be sufficient to drive these speakers. If you would like to discuss further, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Larry Feb 19, 2017 ] Staff
I used mine on a back patio setting not in a surround system. The sound performance is very good. [ JAMES Dec 02, 2013 ]
I am not an expert at this, but I believe the center channel should be different. Doesn't it need to be a speaker tuned/built for center channel use/voices? Otherwise, I am so happy I paid more for these speakers. They are incredible. I have them in my ceiling with a small Sonos amp and they can rock if you turn them up, but have amazing quality of sound. [ SCOTT Dec 02, 2013 ]
I would not recommend these speakers for using in a surround sound system. I purchased them as overheads in a kitchen for listening to music. They provide a very uniform sound and are pretty much perfect for listening to music. For a 5.1 in-wall surround system you should look into getting in-ceiling speakers similar to these for the rear two channels, and in-wall speakers for front left, center and right channels. Stay away from using in-ceiling speakers for stereo fronts, as the sound is intended to be fired from the television to your ears as apposed to from the ceiling down to the top of your head. The positioning would be off, which would defeat the purpose of surround sound. [ DEREK Dec 02, 2013 ]
