Little details that add up

The R-28F has two sets of sturdy 5-way binding posts that allow for bi-amping or bi-wiring. Extended feet brace the speaker to reduce vibration and increase stability. And a front-firing port reinforces bass response while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

Product Research

Features

1" Horn-Loaded Tweeter: The R-28F floorstanding speaker features Klipsch's proprietary Tractrix Horn technology mated with a 1" aluminum LTS tweeter, for impressive high-end response and greater extension, enhanced imaging and powerful dynamics.

  • Tractrix Horn Technology: The square Tractrix Horn delivers a 90° (w) x 90° (h) dispersion pattern for a broader sound-stage.
  • LTS (Linear Travel Suspension): Behind each horn lies a 1.0-inch aluminum tweeter with a linear travel suspension to minimizes distortion for enhanced, detailed performance.

Dual 8" Copper-Spun IMG Woofers: The Klipsch R-28F floorstanding speaker is outfitted with two 8" Copper-Spun IMG woofers. The Copper-Spun IMG (Injection Molded Graphite) woofer is exceptionally light while being extremely rigid - providing remarkable low frequency response, with minimal cone breakup and distortion.

Front-Firing Port: The Klipsch Reference series floorstanding speaker features a front-firing port that is perfectly matched to the cabinet and drivers. The front placement of the port creates ideal airflow with minimal distortion.

MDF Cabinet: The Klipsch R-28F floorstanding speaker features a MDF cabinet with a brushed polymer veneer black finish that seamlessly integrates into almost any room or decor. MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is utilized because of its damping characteristics for natural, uncolored sound without unwanted vibration and distortion.

Acoustically Transparent Grille: The Klipsch R-28F floorstanding loudspeaker comes with a removable, black cloth grille that is acoustically transparent.

Dual 5-Way Binding Posts: The Klipsch Reference series floorstanding speaker is fitted with two sets of 5-way binding posts connected by jumpers. Using the dual binding posts, you can bi-amp or bi-wire the speakers. The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single or dual), pin-connectors, spade-lugs, and bare wire (up to 10AWG).

Integrated Rubber Feet: The Klipsch R-28F floorstanding speaker features four integrated rubber feet for placing the speaker securely and safely on your hardwood, laminate, or tile floor (these rubber feet should never be removed). The floorstanding speaker does not come with any carpet spikes.

Placement: For optimum performance, Klipsch suggests placing the floorstanding speakers 6' to 15' apart. They may also be toed-in slightly for better stereo imaging. The listening position should be about 1 to 1.5x the distance separating the speakers.

Reference Series: The Klipsch Reference series consists of three floorstanding speakers (R-24F/R-26F/R-28F), two bookshelf speakers (R-14M/R-15M), one center channel speaker (R-25C), and one surround speaker (R-14S). The Klipsch Reference series line-up of loudspeakers sound great in stereo and home theater applications.

Optional Powered Sub: For bigger & deeper bass response, pair the R-28F floorstanding speaker with one of Klipsch's powered subwoofers (sold separately - see Accessories Tab).

I have a Klipsch R-28F as room corner speaker with an old no name in the opposite upper corner. My amplifier is a Yamaha R-s5000. The Klipsch sounds very well, but I don't think it is up to "big" sound.

R28 have plenty of power. Super clear to me on all accounts. Have them in a 20x25 room. Just an average guy not an audiophile. Sounds fantastic all types of audio, music and movies

Q
RP-280F or R-28F? What are the differences, apart from slightly different frequency response and sensitivity and the different port design? If you've heard both, which did you prefer, and why? Thanks! I'd pair two of these with the free 12" sub being offered.

Q
Why two negative and two positive posts for speaker wire? Just used to one set.

A
It's just to give you the option of bi-wiring the speakers. They can still be run with just a single positive and negative wire though.

Monty, I believe it helps with reducing resistance for better signal transfer. Consider monster cable times two. After a certain gauge, it doesn't make any difference with having one or two. Also if one cable is compromised for some reason, you still have the other. Nanda

Q
How much watts does a receiver need to power the Klipsch R28F speakers with good sound?
[ Calvin  Dec 01, 2016 ]

A
This is my second set of Klipsch speakers. All Klipsch are very efficient and you do not need that much wattage. I am currently using a 100 watt Niles audio which is more than ample. I have also powered my old Klipsch KG's with a 60 watt Adcom. More than enough power.
