Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-5000F floor-standing speaker

Use a pair of the RP-5000F floor-standing speakers as part of a high-impact Klipsch home theater system.

Hybrid horn technology for dynamic performance

Horn technology is one of Klipsch's long-standing hallmarks. Flared openings in the speaker cabinet project sound waves toward your listening area and prevent them from simply spilling out in all directions. This design reduces reflections that can color the sound, and boosts dynamics and efficiency for powerful, "front row" sound that remains crystal-clear at all volume levels.

Klipsch's Tractrix® horn features a circular throat around an advanced titanium diaphragm tweeter that transitions into a square 90º x 90º mouth. This unique shape provides a cleaner, more efficient transition of sound waves into your listening space. The result is a wide listening "sweet spot" with precise placement of instruments and vocals.

A horn that enhances bass, too

Take a look at the back of the RP-5000F and you'll find that instead of the conventional round port tube found on many speakers, Klipsch uses a Tractrix horn-shaped opening for smoother, more efficient airflow in and out of the cabinet. The resulting decrease in air turbulence makes for cleaner, more powerful bass with reduced port noise and low-frequency distortion.

Because this speaker is rear-ported, I recommend pulling it away from your wall to give it room to "breathe."

Bi-amp or bi-wire for even better sound

On the back of the RP-5000F you'll find two sets of speaker input terminals. These let you bi-amp or bi-wire your speaker to get the best sound out of it.

Features

1" Horn-Loaded Tweeter: The Klipsch RP-5000F floorstanding loudspeaker features a 1" Titanium LTS Vented Tweeter with a Hybrid Tractrix Horn for exceptional high frequency response, detail, and dispersion. Klipsch proprietary Tractrix horn-loaded technology ensures high-frequency energy of the RP-5000F floorstanding speakers are aimed directly at the listener and reduces unwanted, artificial reverb caused by indirect sound bouncing off walls - meaning you experience the most clear, detailed, lifelike sound possible.

  • Titanium LTS Vented Tweeter: The titanium tweeter diaphragm's light weight yet rigid composition exceeds the performance of aluminum, polymer or silk tweeters. A vented tweeter design reduces standing waves behind the tweeter diaphragm for a smoother high frequency reproduction. Klipsch award-winning Linear Travel Suspension technology leverages a piston motion of the titanium diaphragm that lowers distortion and delivers real-to-life sound. A ceramic magnet housing provides premium performance,
  • Hybrid Tractrix Horn Technology: This redesigned 90°x90° Hybrid Tractrix Horn utilizes a circular horn throat paired to a square horn mouth to further improve high-frequency response and extension, while enhancing imaging and dynamics. The Hybrid Tractrix Horn's compressed molded silicon face adds high frequency damping to reduce harshness and horn resonance for a smoother frequency response with improved detail - creating a clean and natural sound. Klipsch also utilizes computer modeled phase plugs that act as a mechanical filter to further ensure a smooth, flat frequency response while protecting the tweeter from damage.

Dual 5.25" Cerametallic Woofers: The RP-5000F floorstanding loudspeaker utilizes two 5.25" Klipsch Proprietary Cerametallic woofers. Cerametallic consists of extremely light, rigid materials that can hold shape while being able to deliver lower frequencies with maximum efficiency. The Klipsch Cerametallic cone is matted to a dual-layer, copper-wound voice coil for exceptional conductivity. The 5.25" woofers are housed in a non-resonating, stamped-steel basket that's secured to a large magnet motor for exceptional efficiency and low distortion.

Rear Tractrix Port: The rear Tractrix port of the RP-5000F floorstanding loudspeaker is perfectly matched to the cabinet and woofer, creating ideal airflow with minimal distortion and turbulence even at the lowest frequencies. Klipsch Tractrix ports have custom designed inner flares that help reduce air turbulence entering the port. Less turbulent air helps reduce port noise for cleaner, more powerful bass.

MDF Cabinet: The Klipsch RP-5000F floorstanding speaker features a MDF cabinet with a scratch-resistant, textured wood grain vinyl that seamlessly integrates into almost any room or decor. The enclosure's reinforced MDF construction reduces cabinet vibration for less audible coloration and improved sonic accuracy. The MDF enclosure also features a satin painted baffle with a scratch resistant design for an elegant look without the grille.

Acoustically Transparent Grille: The Klipsch RP-5000F floorstanding loudspeaker comes with a removable, black cloth grille that is magnetic and acoustically transparent. This strong magnetic grille provides protection and a sleek aesthetic look to compliment your home's decor.

Dual Binding Posts: The Klipsch RP-5000F is fitted with two sets of sturdy binding posts allowing to bi-amp or bi-wire the floorstanding loudspeaker. These binding posts ensure a secure connection to many types of cable and connectors. The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single only), pin-connectors, spade-lugs and bare wire (up to 10AWG). Two plastic caps will need to be removed to use banana plugs.

  • Bi-Wiring: Bi-wiring can provide noticeable improvements in the overall transparency of your loudspeakers. Run separate speaker wires to the low & high frequency drivers from a single amplifier (the upper set of binding posts are for the high frequency drivers; the lower set of binding posts are for the low frequency drivers).
  • Bi-Amping: Bi-amping allows you to use separate amplifiers for the high & low frequency sections of your loudspeaker for greater dynamic range & lower distortion. We recommend that your separate amplifiers have identical gain to preserve the speaker's voicing balance.
Note: If you decide to bi-wire or bi-amp, you must remove the jumpers between the terminal posts (failure to do this could result in damage to your amplifier and loudspeakers).

Cast Aluminum Stabilizer Feet: The Klipsch floorstanding loudspeaker includes pre-installed, cast-aluminum stabilizer feet with rubber pads for safe placement on hardwood, tile, laminate, and vinyl flooring. The cast aluminum feet are mechanically designed to minimize surface area in contact with the floor, decoupling the speaker for faster, tighter low frequencies and more detail. No carpet spikes are included, and the speaker will not support optional carpet spikes or other type of feet.

Note: Do not remove the stabilizer feet. The Klipsch floorstanding loudspeaker should not be used without the stabilizer feet due to stability and sound performance reasons.

Application & Placement: The Klipsch RP-5000F floorstanding loudspeaker can be used in a dedicated stereo application or in a home theater application as front and/or rear speakers.

  • Front Placement: For optimum performance in a stereo application or as front speakers in a home theater application, Klipsch suggests placing the loudspeakers 6' to 15' apart. They may also be toed-in slightly for better stereo imaging. The listening position should be about 1 to 1.5x the distance separating the speakers.
  • Rear Placement: When used as surround speakers in a home theater setup, the speakers should be placed on the walls directly adjacent to the listening position. Another option would be on the wall behind the listening position.

Reference Premiere Series: The Klipsch Reference Premiere series utilizes a redesigned hybrid 90°x90° Tractrix Horn, a vented LTS titanium tweeter, Cerametallic woofer construction, and Tractrix geometry port technology for sound that will envelope you and blow you away. The Reference Premiere series by Klipsch consists of a variety of floorstanding, bookshelf, center, and surround speakers (all sold separately). Click on the Accessories Tab to find more Reference Premiere series speakers for your home system.

Optional Powered Sub: For bigger & deeper bass response, pair the Klipsch Reference Premiere series loudspeaker with one of Klipsch's powered subwoofers (sold separately - click on Accessories Tab).

Q
Would RP5000f or 4000f Klipsch be better for a tv placed ast a distance of 7 Feet, where as the length side wasys would be around 40 feet (Hall)? So confused
[ Pritham  Apr 20, 2020 ]

A
Kind of confused on the question. Are you saying the length of the wall where the TV sits will be 40 feet wide? If the speakers will only be used for Home Theater, as in you don't need huge speakers, then either one will work at a listing distance 7 feet from the TV (if you are centering yourself in the listening area). Another factor is the power from your receiver. You don't want to over power the speaker and at the same time you don't want to under power the speaker either. Overpowering 10-15 watts is not a big deal. I just wouldn't under power them. RP5000F is a great sounding speaker for mid range and highs. You won't get thumping bass out of them. You will need a larger speaker or a subwoofer if that's a consideration. Going to a RP6000F would give you decent bass, great mids, and great highs all at the same time as long as you can power the speaker properly. For just general listening and home theater use, RP5000F is a great speaker, I had them but upgraded to RP6000F to enhance the bass a little more. To each their own in personal preference.

Have the 5000F at the minimum of 8'...believe that only difference is 1" in speakers don't think the distance between will make that much difference between the two.
[ RGN  Apr 20, 2020 ]
A
I have the 4000f speakers and they are 10 feet from my TV giving incredible sound. Not sure what you mean by 40 ft. To be fair I also have a full 5.1.4
[ LARRY  Apr 20, 2020 ]
A
I'd recommend contacting the chat support to clarify your question. These speakers are pretty large and need to be offset from the wall a little for best sound quality, so if you're planning to use them in a hallway either option would take up a lot of space. You may want to consider wall mounting some bookshelf speakers instead. But, it's possible I don't understand your question and the support team could help you more easily.

Q
I currently have a RP150M bookshelf speakers and Marantz PM6006. Is it a good idea to add this speaker to my current set up? Thanks
[ CyRojo  Apr 17, 2020 ]

A
RP 150M is a small speaker. Marantz is your AV receiver. If you want to add RP5000F, you should add them as Front speakers and shift the book shelf as sides. You have not mentioned about your Centre, Sub and room size. RP5000F will do justice to the role.
[ Ramesh  Apr 19, 2020 ]
A
I have those bookshelf speakers you should be happy with that setup but I don't know anything about the marantz speakers first hand.
[ TIMOTHY C  Apr 17, 2020 ]
A
Absolutely, it will be a big upgrade in your sound, bringing fuller midrange and deep, tight bass to everything you listen to.

Q
Must I wire two separate amps or can I get by with just one? I have an older carver receiver 90 wpc to which I can wire two sets of speakers although each with same frequencies Thanks
[ David  Feb 17, 2020 ]

A
If you want to Bi-Amp from your receiver, you need to look at the capabilities of your receiver to determine if it is capable of Bi-Amping. Running another channel to the same speaker (without ensuring it's in Bi-Amp mode) may cause damage to either the receiver, speaker or both. Risky stuff. In general, normally you want the receiver to be Bi-Amp capable, and you want to ensure it's connected in accordance with the receiver manufacturers instructions. There should be a setting on the receiver to run the system in Bi-Amp mode if it is capable. Bi-Amp is usually printed on the back of the receiver speaker output receptacles, this is where they want you to connect for Bi-Amp. If you are not seeing these markings, then the receiver is probably not Bi-Amp capable. If you don't see Bi-Amp anywhere on the back of the receiver or in the owners manual, I "would not" try to Bi-Amp using another channel for power. If in doubt, I would call the receiver manufacturer for guidance/support.

Package dimensions for Klipsch RP-5000F single tower?
[ Ramesh  Dec 29, 2018 ]

A
Container in inches: 12 width x 18 depth x 41-1/2 height; it is heavy; the speaker floats on a LOT of styrofoam and heavy duty cardboard. Almost indestructible.

Q
hi, Just purchased the klipsch rp6000f speakers. My question is will my onkyo TX-SR353 be enough to drive them? receiver details:140 W/Ch (6 Ohms), 80 W/Ch (8 Ohms)
[ Ron  Dec 03, 2018 ]
2 answers
A
Depends on how many speakers will be running at the same time. Do you just have 1 set of floor speakers or more? Depends on the power rating on the receiver per amount of channels driven. For example, Onkyo may list in the specs 80W/Ch (8ohms) x 2 channels driven, and 60W/Ch (8ohms) all channels (5) driven. If you are running more than 1 set of speakers (2 channels), you need to look at your receivers power ratings (continuous power) to determine the wattage for each channel, then compare to the speakers power requirements and ohms requirements. The more speakers you add, the more power you need. Best of luck
[ Ron  Apr 21, 2020 ]

Ron, I have the RP-5000F as my rear speakers running off of a Denon AVR-1713, which is rated at 120W/Ch (6Ohms), 80W/Ch (8Ohms). They sound incredible and look amazing. I am enjoying listening to my favorite music again due to the little details in music that I missed before.

Q
I'm considering buying one of the Klipsch RP floor standing speakers. I'm thinking of buying something in the walnut finish. Can anyone tell me how good the walnut finish looks? Is the color tone and wood grain pattern ok, or does it look cheap and fake? Thanks!

A
I purchased the R5000F, RP500SA Atmos, R500 MW Bookshelf and the R34C Center Channel all in the walnut finish. Color tone, pattern all match perfectly. The finish is excellent and does not have a "fake or cheap appearance. Klipsch products are first rate in all respects. I am very satisfied with the appearance and quality.
[ JOHN  Jul 31, 2019 ]
A
The finish looks fine. It passed the "Spousal Approval" test.
[ David  Jul 31, 2019 ]
A
The walnut finish is a vaneer, but it looks very nice. I get lots of compliments because they match my floor. The Vaneer is applied in a way that the grain transitions over corners creating the look of a solid piece of wood.
[ Eric Dana  Jul 31, 2019 ]
A
I recently purchased the RP-5000 in the walnut finish and I am very pleased with the purchase. The speakers are in my living room next to a sofa and wooden table and have the look and feel of solid wood. I had the same concern that the walnut may not be appealing, but that is not the case. In fact earlier this week I glanced at the speakers and thought "WOW, I'm sure glad that I got the walnut!" You can't go wrong. The sound quality of the Klipsch speakers is fabulous in any finish! I highly recommend them.
[ David  Jul 31, 2019 ]
A
I like the walnut finish very much. It is one of the reasons I went with this particular speaker and I was not disappointed. These speakers look and sound great, very well constructed.
[ BRYON  Jul 31, 2019 ]
A
personally, the color tone is a little dark, just like the image. i took a gamble and hoped that it would be a little lighter, like natural walnut. As far as the grain pattern goes, the grain lines run a little tighter than some of the natural walnut i have in my house. the speaker well put together, the craftsmanship is nice, but lets face the facts, its a veneer and it looks like a veneer. the speaker looks just like it does in the photo. it has a semi gloss shine to it, and is smooth to the touch. i struggled between the black and walnut colors. Im glad i went with walnut to be honest. just has a more elegant look.
[ Elias  Jul 31, 2019 ]

I have a set of the walnut finish RP's I love them! Finish is Awesome and sound is better!!
