They are deceiving, very well made. They also sound like much larger speakers. Truly exceeded my expectations, I believe you would need to spend four times the price to hear an improvement in sound.

Pros: Great bang for the buck! A speaker that lets you hear what the Artist intended you to hear.

Cons: None

Wonderful!

Since Nov 2020, These have been sitting on top of some old 3ft tower speakers running off a Jolida 50wpc 6550 tube integrated amp. Over the years, I've learned it's common for me to get all excited about something new, but not too long after, I find something that kind of wears on me. That's not the case here. After months of listening- I can honestly say these speakers are so enjoyable, based on all the groovy positives you can read ad-nausea across the internet. Definitely a music lovers speaker for kicking back. Not a frat speaker for beating on. You could overdrive the woofer with too much deep bass, or just get muddy sound from the light cabinet at high output. I would have rather paid full price for a beefier built cabinet. Really it's minor to me since I don't "crank" the music much.

Pros: Excellent imaging, dynamics, separation. More naturally balanced than your dads old Klipsch. Sounds amazingly good with piano and acoustic instruments. Vocals are good, but sensitive to how they are mic'd and your equipment choices.

Cons: May require tube amplification for the overall presentation. Which can get expensive. I personally love the combo. This is not a high efficiency horn speaker. It is efficient, but does not appear to be as much as stated. As you begin to consider stands and a good subwoofer- you may want to look at the 8000F's instead. (Not auditioned) 4 stars, not because it's a bookshelf with low frequency restriction, it would lose a little for the lack of cabinet bracing - audible at high

I bought a pair of these speakers to set them up as my surround speakers in my home theater system, the sound of these speakers is amazing!, Plus they look awesome!, I'm very happy with my purchase, would definitely buy again if need and will recommend them to anyone who really knows to appreciate high quality sound!!

Pros: The rear panel hosts bi-wire speaker cable connectors

Cons: The treble can be a tad bright at times, and that will bother some listeners more than others.

Concert at my house!

My initial opinion when I first listened these was "wow, these rock!" I am using a Yamaha R-S202 BT receiver. I am replacing a pair of B&W DM303's And I mostly use my phone for music. Be careful unpacking the speakers as the grills will come off if you grab them from the front and may cause damage. To get a good idea of their capability, I ran a battery of tests of classical, jazz, rock, pop, alternative, r&b, hip-hop and country music. These speakers have a very impressive low end for a bookshelf speaker. Punchy bass is a good description. I felt the rhythm in my chest from many songs. I had to decrease the bass to flat, and it was still impressive. The song "To the Opera" (Sherlock Holmes 2). is very demanding and I waited for the Klipsch's to bottom out. And they didn't. Voices are life like clear and not harsh. Male and female alike. I found myself hearing instruments and nuances of songs that I don't remember hearing before. So I imagine with a cd player or turntable, you will hear even more detail. And YES, these speakers are big. Tall and deep. But that cabinet space contributes to the extra bass. I do like the walnut finish, but I wish it was on the front fascia as well. Or even have a hint of walnut on the front. So sound wise I would give them 5.But because of the large cabinet, and I am not super fan of the front fascia design. I lowered my score to 4. But 4.5 would be more accurate.

Pros: Powerful bass. Rocks loud and clear Walnut finish looks nice No harsh vocals

Cons: Larger size. Not a fan of the front fascia. And I am not a fan of any speaker grills

I purchased the RP-600M's to pair with a Cambridge AXR100 and they match up great. I read a lot of reviews stating they had the Klipsch "sound" being somewhat bright...The Cambridge has a warm, smooth, neutral sound that is relatively flat...The RP-100M's sound wonderful with it. I am also using a SVS SB-1000 subwoofer. They sound great in my system. They look great and feel solid.

Sophisticated sound, budget price.

Crutchfield customer from Athens, OH on 2/10/2021

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

These speakers are very impressive. They have received wonderful professional reviews and they do live up to the hype. They are also a great deal. I drive them with the budget Denon PMA-600 NE integrated amplifier. I also do utilize an old NHT 80W sub. Given the high sensitivity of these speakers, there is plenty of volume and drive with the 45W Denon for great sound. My system is in a large room with high ceilings (not ideal), but there is no problem filling the room with impressive sound. I believe that they sound clear, airy, and articulate. I believe they shine most playing classic rock with ample acoustic guitar and forward vocals. Folk music and singer/songwriter styles are beautifully matched. It is reproduced in a light, airy, spacious fashion with strong, fast bass. I do notice a bit of struggle reproducing music that is heavily overlaid in the upper bass and lower midrange, for example 80's hard rock (which I love). But they have sounded great on most other genres. They have a sophisticated sound which I love. Everyone's taste in music and sound reproduction is different, but I believe these speakers are very good for the money and they complement my system very nicely while not breaking the bank.

Pros: Spacious, airy sound Articulate Great with classic rock and acoustic tracks Punchy, timely bass if not too heavily overlaid Solid construction Nice finish Attractive in Walnut

Cons: Struggles to accurately reproduce heavily overlaid music in the upper bass / lower midrange, such as heavy metal

As a newbie audiophile, I pretty much went with Steve Guttenberg's recommendation of this set of speakers along with a used NAD 316BEE that I got a good deal on and a Schitt Modi DAC. Very happy with this setup and I've also added in a Lounge Audio phono preamp to go along with my turntable. I put on Claus Ogerman's Gate of Dreams lp and I was so impressed with how the sound came out.

Pros: Nice lively sound

Cons: Bass could be better, but what do you expect from a bookshelf speaker?

Crutchfield gets 5 stars for prompt service and delivery. The speakers only get 2. They are beautiful to look at, and fit nicely into my home. Their sound, however, is unimpressive. I bought them to replace an aging pair of Spica T-50's that I purchased in the 80's. Other than having a much better lower end (the Spica's have no bass), the Klipsch speakers do not measure up to the Spica's, which are similar in size. Instrumentals (light jazz) sound fine, but vocals, or anything approaching fast rock, sounds muddied / distorted. When paired with the aging Spica's, I do get full sound which I love, just not when listening to vocals or rock. I have always wanted to try Klipsch, and now I have. I rate them as "just okay".

Pros: Crutchfield service speakers look great easy installation good price better bass than you'd expect from size

Cons: muddied sound for vocals / fast music

So after years of reluctance I finally dipped my toes into the Klipsch waters. I have to say the only regret I have is waiting as long as I did. These speakers are lively, well defined little cubicles of joy. I have always been a fan of the aesthetics of a bookshelf speaker on a well made stand. These fit the bill perfectly. They are a big bookshelf speaker so keep that in mind when making room for them. I am about 3 weeks in on listening to them and I think we have a "bright" future together.

Pros: Beautiful. Clear. Accurate.

Cons: None to speak of

Good but

While these do sound good, the wife and I preferred the Elacs unifi 52, I reviewed those. The RP600M just seemed a little off but just couldn't quite figure out what it was missing, or maybe just too much speaker for my lively room. I did try stands, table top and different distance from wall. The elacs were better at lower volume. But I will say this, these have a much smoother sound than most prior klipsch. I have listened to the Belles pre 1984, home theater of 1998, several of the 2008 models, and 2yrs ago their soundbars. All of those had the classic shouty sound, these are more refined no doubt. The 600m also has really good bass don't really need a sub unless you want king kong size bass in your house.

Pros: Smoother sound than prior years. Great bass.

Cons: Not for lively rooms unless one has room treatments.

Clean design and great sound out of the box prior to breaking in. I have only had these speakers for a week. Stereo setup paired with 10" Klipsch sub cutting over at (lower-than average) 60Hz for additional imaging. No issues with these speakers handling the bass down to that level. Great value when on sale. Solid stands or a deep shelf are required to keep these 6-12" from the wall.

Disappointing music quality

Samuel from HOUSTON, TX on 12/29/2020

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I bought these speakers this past July. I've purchased many items from a Crutchfield and this is the first to truly disappoint. At first listen I was very disappointed with the overall quality of sound but I have heard speakers sometimes need to "age" a bit to reach full maturity. But after six months I have not found any significant improvement in performance. I even added a nice pair of supportive speaker stands. Complex musical sources, those having several layers, tend to push the sound of existing instruments to a faint background as new layers are added. For example, the deep bass of the tuba in Tusk gets lost somewhat as the drums and trumpets emerge. The same for the themes in Bolero as emerging instruments push existing music lines into lower audio quality. The beautiful saxophone on the Stones' Waiting on a Friend was mediocre. I'm not an audiophile but I do have something of an ear for music and these speakers are basic, average performers at best. I gave them two stars rather than one in recognition of the low price point and a "get what you pay for" aspect. Unfortunately for me, this was just not a good purchase so I will have to go back to market and these will go in a closet or gifted into a teens stereo system.

Pros: Price, appearance, build quality

Cons: Overall music quality

Snag these babies! They just replaced a pair of Kef R300 reference. 2k a pair speakers. They are very detailed and bright on the top end, project the music and stage it impressively. The mids and bass effective solo, bit I would suggest a 10 inch sub for impact. Audiophiles, big money doesn't always mean better. Pair these speakers with a integrated Cambridge amp. Cambridge offers a warm presentation and helps soften the bright high end. For under 500 on sale, this one a no brainer. John S

Pros: Buy them and power with quality amp. The pros will be obvious.

They actually sound (almost) like full-size floor-standing speakers. They actually have a little lower-frequency bass than my big 100 lb each Klipsch Chorus speakers alone. I added a Martin Logan Dynamo 400 sub (from Crutchfield) to my Chorus prior to buying these -600Ms. I bought them because Steve Guttenberg, the Audiophiliac (on YouTube), picked them for his 2018 Speaker of the Year (when they were $549) and was totally wowed by them. I couldn't resist buying them on sale for $439 (assuming they'd never be lower) even though I didn't really need them. I ended up "stacking" them on top of my Chorus. Loved that "large speaker" sound so much I bought another pair of -600Ms and stacked them also (using a Russound SS-4.2 automatic impedance matching speaker selector from Crutchfield). With so much more clarity in the midrange and treble now, I noticed in no uncertain terms that the digital music I was Chromecasting to my TV from my smartphone (and from there to my receiver) was too bright, harsh, and distorted in the upper midrange and treble because of all the digital format and analog conversions getting to, and out of, my TV. When I listened to the same song with my Phono, it was so beautiful! So, the problem lies squarely with how I was streaming my music. So, how to minimize the number of digital format conversions and have a high-end DAC? I chose to buy a Naim Unity Atom integrated streaming amp from Crutchfield. I'm scheduled to receive it tomorrow!

Pros: Really do sound like they are larger than they are.

Cons: With two pair stacked on my Klipsch Chorus, in a fairly small bedroom, I'm getting some mid-bass boominess on audio that already has a lot of ~100 Hz content. Not apparent on most content, though.

I have never been a fan of Klipsch speakers. I have found them too bright for my taste. I read a lot of reviews from people saying favorable things about this speaker so I decided to give them a try. Wow, I am impressed by these things! I have them paired to the Marantz PM6007 integrated amp and have tried them with a Harman Kardon stereo receiver as well as my old SAE components. These speakers sound very well balanced and are very efficient. I also have a pair of Elac UB5 and Emotiva B1+ and various old ADS speakers. These are my go to guys now! I recently upgraded my 2 channel stereo music listening system - new receiver, cd player, and now the speakers. I did a fair amount of research and also used Crutchfield's Speaker Compare Tool from their website to aid in my decision. These RP-600Ms are simply a winner. They offer a great soundstage, with lots of layering and imaging - crystal clear highs, a wonderful mid and decent bass (I use a subwoofer). I have dusted off many of my old cd's and have found new life has been breathed into the performances. I'm hearing notes and instruments that weren't there before. These speakers are that exact. Some reviewers have stated that the highs can be a bit harsh...hogwash I say. If I want to hear the triangle, the cymbals, the piccolo, they are there to hear. Simple put the grilles back on, or turn the treble down a few notches if you don't like the highs. I am completely satisfied with these Klipsch's, and for the price paid, they are certainly a great bargain with lots of value. They come highly recommended.

Scratch and dent - NEVER AGAIN

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

The speakers sound great. This is a review of the Crutchfield's scratch and dent offer. I received these early today, well packaged and sealed after quick shipping. I saw only a small dent in the corner which I was very willing to accept, however after setting them up I noticed 3 tears in the grill cloth which lead me to take them off, where i discovered what looks like damage equivalent to dragging the face of these across a concrete floor. Some areas have obviously tried to be buffed (poorly), full chips out of the finish, damage to the ring seal around the cone, and finally a dent on the cone its self. I have a very high tolerance for second hand and cosmetic flaws, but this level is unacceptable and should never have been sold with this level of damage. I feel that there is no way anyone would have accepted this. What number of resell are they on? I will be contacting Crutchfield, and having to deal with repackaging, shipping, during the pandemic and Christmas for a totally avoidable reason. Incredibly disapointed.

Was deciding between two models for some time. This model I got for a better price thanks to open box (thanks Crutchfield). A plug for the open box program. This was a fantastic deal and I could tell no real difference from unopened. This is a great program good for all involved in it. The speakers sound AMAZING. They did replace some old cheaper speakers but I heard clear sounds in songs I didn't hear before. As mentioned, the bass is good for what they are but if you want big bass get a sub. Overall they sound great for a bookshelf and I would bet as left and right on surround. Very happy.

These speakers are amazing! I tested these out with some Nina Simone live and you could swear she's in your living room, utterly amazed at what these "little" guys can do. I saw the specs and size measurements but for some reason I still didn't expect them to be this huge. Now to find some stands for these bad boys.

Pros: Exceptional build quality. Drives with relative ease. Sounds beautiful. Price.

Cons: Stands are a must so weigh that with your purchase price as you might prefer some standing floor tower speakers when you weigh in that additional cost.

Accuracy DEFINED!

Purchased these to replace my vintage pioneer CS 922A speakers (15in woofer). Although the bass is not as deep, these speakers are much more defined in all aspects in sound. Tried them with anything from classical to jazz, blues, rock, heavy metal and pop. Everything is clear and precise. Always wanted to get KLIPSCH speakers since I heard my friends floor model. Putting them on 26in stands really makes them shine. You can't go wrong with these. If you want clear and accurate sound (from low to straight full power) don't pass these up! Can't wait to get the subwoofer to really rock the house. Did I mention that I am cranking these up with a vintage Sansui receiver with 90 watts.

Pros: Precise sound Performs well at all volume levels

Cons: Wish I got them sooner

There are valid reasons why these speakers have received such wide acclaim. I'm still breaking them in, but right out of the box the bass was defined and tight. The mids and treble are detailed with no shrillness. When I close my eyes and listen to tracks I have heard live and know well, the vocals and instruments are clear, and I can place each one in their proper spot. These speakers punch well above their weightclass and price point. Driving them with a 40 watt amp and even at 40% in a medium sized room with tall ceilings the sound is full. Highly recommended.

Pros: Good detail. Bass is tight and well defined. Magnetic grills are a nice touch. A lot of quality sound from a smallish speaker.

Cons: None noted.

I was very skeptical about down sizing from towers to book shelf speakers. They really can belt it out. Sad part is they exposed my current receiver. It is outdated badly. What can I say, JUST AWESOME!!!! Coming from bigger 15 year old Klipsch rf35 towers I thought I'd be missing something, and in all honesty, yes, I am but the cleanliness, and details of these bookshelves, and beauty is on another level. Nice sounding speakers, at least to my ears. They are a little short of bass for my taste, so I paired them with an SVS subwoofer. Certainly they are usable all on their own, but the sub really does add to the listening experience. They don't take much power to drive. I do find them pretty directional, however. All in all I would buy them again.

Just getting back into starting a collection of equipment. I've been away from audio equipment for so long I'm having to relearn. But I will say these speakers are impressive. I put them away from wall like internet peeps recommended, not so great. But late in the day I put them a lot closer to the wall and oh what a difference. Lots more bass. Speaker placement can be crucial! These speakers will let you hear the difference between a good recording and not so good recording. I'm happy with my purchase and with Crutchfield.

I've had the floor-standing Klipsch Reference 7's including the 12" subwoofer and center channel for 12 years now powered by a Denon top-end AVR receiver and this combination is stunning for music firstly and movies secondly. I decided to switch out my Bose 501's to the Klipsch RP-600 and this resulted in much better clarity, richer sound and better balance while playing music and movies. Couldnt be happier with the change, the other cool part of this is i play the the 600's when I'm playing music at lower levels and this too was a major improvement . the Bose 501's were great and still are but the 600's had much better range and clarity.

Fun to listen to, these are detailed and dynamic. I have best results with class D amplifier on heavy stands, pointed at listening position. Not bright. Good soundstage width, depth is ok but I have heard better. Bass is firm not bloated, I do use a sealed subwoofer but not necessary depending on room. The positive reviews are warranted.

I really love these speakers, I bought these to enhance the high-end in conjunction with my Cerwin Vegas and JBL speakers. I'm driving these with a Pioneer SX 1250 which makes 160 Watts RMS per channel. Normally I always have the loudness button on the amplifier off but if I run the Klipsch 600 by them self adding the loudness button makes the Klipsch sound surprisingly big and they do deliver a great bass response.. and I find that the Klipsch 600 can go loud enough to run in conjunction with either the JBLs or the Cerwin Vegas. Obviously if I want to listen to music at high volume level I turn off the Klipsch but they do go plenty loud for most listening situations I love the way tambourine and symbols project from the tweeters in the Klipsch 600 they are very prominent and clear they do a great job. And I would like to commend Crutchfield for their technical advice and answering all my questions.

Pros: Aesthetic appeal. Very nice tweeters.

Cons: I can't think of any.

Broken speaker, no response from support after 2 months

Rick from Plainfield, IL on 8/12/2020

There is a strange tin sound coming from the speakers at 350 and 550 hertz. I contacted Klipsch support, someone replied within a few days asking for more info on the issue, I told them what was happening and even sent a couple videos. About two weeks later I got an automated response saying that they were sorry they couldn't get back to me and they were backed up in support. About a month later I asked on an update and received no response. Waited another week and sent another email. Here we are now 2 months with no help from tech support. I spent this much on a defective pair of speakers and nobody at their tech support wants to help resolve my issue. When they work great that's awesome, but when a customer has an issue with a product is when a companies true nature comes out. I'll be looking at other manufacturers after this experience. It's a shame because I really like these speakers, minus the defect in the woofers.

Pros: Looks great, great sound in the frequencies that aren't broken

Cons: Horrible customer support, not even answering emails. Speakers have tin sound at 350 and 500 hz. For the price I would think customer support would, you know, support it?

For the money? 5 stars easy. With a Klipsch center, these replaced KEF LS50/Q600C in my apartment home theater. Everything is a choice among compromises at this price, but dialog is clearer, and music is more dynamic and punchy. Also brass has that bite you hear live, percussion has a nice sharp leading edge... really very enjoyable, fun, but well balanced. Read some good reviews and took a chance (with Crutchfield's return policy, not a risk at all!) and I'm very pleased. I using them with an Anthem receiver a Bluesound Node 2i, also purchased from Crutchfield. Very happy with all of them. I'll be back!

Great speakers. Got the job done for someone who wants to listen to music in a small apartment with good quality. Ended up hooking them up to an AV receiver with an xbox and smart TV as well. Turns out they rock for most audio inputs. They don't blow me away like some home audio systems do but they far surpass any soundbar out there. Additionally they are good for music at high to mid levels. With my AV setup (Denon X3500H) they are not too good on the low end of volume. I'm just a consumer, not an audiophile so maybe I could fix this. Regardless it doesn't bother me nor do my speakers sound bad. I fully enjoy these things and they really, truly do make me feel happy when I'm rocking a good song. If you close your eyes, you almost feel as if you're at a concert! They remind me of my dads old speakers he had from college (80s) but sound AMAZINGLY better.

Pros: Full, great at master track/CD audio in full capacity. Some of the best sound I have heard from a bookshelf speaker.

Cons: Bass is a little weak without a subwoofer.

Purchased the pair to compliment RP 6000 floor standing speaks and a 504c center channel. Along with a couple of subs. These are great....they are also my first pair of bookshelves so I have nothing to compare these to.... what I can tell you is that the sound quality is excellent...they do not take a backseat at all and work great as rear surround speaks. I also purchased a VTI stand for each and they fit perfectly....:I am more then pleased with this purchase.

It seems that there is a lot of "hype" about these speakers on YouTube these days. I have watched several sites that have reviewed these speakers. I have never owned Klipsch speakers before and thought I would give them a listen. Our local BB store did not have any in stock, so I listened to them and compared them to other bookshelf speakers on the Crutchfield website. They had them in stock so I thought I would order a pair. I live in Alaska, and they said they would be delivered in 3 days, and they were to my surprise. I am getting away from home theater and going back to my music roots of 2 channel stereo. I have these bi-amped with my Yamaha RX-680 receiver without a sub. I can tell you that the "hype" is well deserved. The new tweeter design is anything but bright. The speakers have great dynamic range and image quite well. For the first time in many years the music I play sounds real. Piano sounds incredible. I am retired now, so I look forward to many hours of music listening. Thank you to Brooke for helping me make this decision.

Pros: Dynamic range, clarity, imaging, The music sounds like it is being played live in my living room.

I had been looking at Crutchfield for years but never pulled the trigger. I have been using my cell phone and a Bluetooth speaker for several years with adequate results. I woke up one morning and said to myself "today's the day!!" I started with a call to Crutchfield for some advice since I had last bought a component system in 1983 and terminology had changed> My Rep was extremely courteous and helpful. With his help I ordered the Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-600M Speakers, a Yamaha R-N303 stereo receiver and a Yamaha CD-S300 CD player and added to this my old Pioneer cassette player. Since I have over 300 LP's, I located a Audio Technica AT-LP120XUSB-BK Turntable. I am ecstatic with the results! Sounds like a much larger and more powerful system. Now, I never turn the TV on when I get home from work. Can't get enough with a setup like this! I'm 68 years old and listen to my original circa 1969 Woodstock and Iron Butterfly albums as well as Classic Rock, some Metal, Country and even Classical. Couldn't be happier!

Great for my purposes. I live in an apartment with a medium sized living room. I power these with a CA AXR85. As many reviews have stated, they're great at low volumes, and I take advantage of that every day. I'm enjoying them a lot. My only point of comparison would be an old pair of PSB Alpha B1s. These are better in every respect -- bass, mid-range, treble, stage. I'm excited to keep listening to them. Don't expect perfection, but these will deliver great sound, even when paired with a run of the mill amp.

These are amazing speakers and well worth the price. I got the black and the wood grain actually has a silver appearance. I have renewed interest in revisiting my CD and vinyl collection to see how much different these recordings sound. The highs are very detailed and I think they have good bass on their own (I also use a Mirage Omni 8 sub in a fairly small room). Some reviews on YouTube have said these speaker are bright, but I don't find that to be the case with my rig (vintage Marantz 2238). The highs are amazingly detailed and crisp and can be adjusted with speaker placement. Try not toeing in and use grills to soften the highs.

Pros: Price, appearance, size, biwiring, efficient, detail, highs, tight decent bass.

Cons: None

Sounds nice and natural, may not really be 96dB in efficiency

Crutchfield customer from Granada Hills, CA on 4/13/2020

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Sounds natural without the sometimes metallic horn sounds from certain high-efficiency speakers. Pretty good extension down to the bass, clear treble and mids. Bi-wiring and bi-amping is a great option to have at this price range. Took one star off because I don't think this is really 96dB. From my 8-watt 300b SET tube amp (Cayin HA-300), seems more like a 91-92dB speakers.

Pros: Natural sounding, good range top and bottom for notebook speakers, good sound for horns

Cons: Not really 96dB, more like 91-92dB in efficiency.

I decided to go with bookshelves for my front stage as I've always used towers. But since I'm running dual SPL-120 subs I figured the added bass of the tower was unnecessary. I couldn't be more pleased. They are compact compared to towers and are very dynamic and crystal clear. I previously had infinity 3 way towers and these speakers set the stage every bit as large as the towers. Very happy!

Detailed midrange, highs; expressive soundstage. Easy to drive. Fantas

Crutchfield customer from Denver, CO on 4/7/2020

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

While the speakers are still "burning in" they're already an incredible value - the recent price break notwithstanding. The soundstage is wide, detailed, and coherent; treble and midrange are both very detailed and perhaps a bit forward, but this is likely due to my solid state gear and DAC. A tube DAC will likely soften these. This model's design seems to have mitigated some of the typical over-active nature of the highs. The bass is present, active; a subwoofer helps but not strictly necessary. A tone control helped add in some bass I was craving. These are super responsive speakers - my 60w Adcom amp drives them easily, and they achieve a nice tonal balance even at lower volumes. Fantastic speaker and value. [Other gear: Adcom preamp, Peachtree DAC, Bluesound Node 2i streamer; REL 328 subwoofer; Cambridge CXC transport.]

Pros: Detailed midrange, highs; expressive soundstage. Easy to drive. Fantastic value.

Cons: With solid state amp can be a bit forward in highs; want slightly lower bass extension.

I should have done this years ago!

Crutchfield customer from ROCHESTER, MI on 4/3/2020

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

First let me say that Crutchfield customer service is above and beyond! Their technical knowledge is impressive! I have been building my home theater for years. I recently purchased a 75" Samsung QLed, and my set is Oppo UDP-203 UHD Blue Ray Player, Marantz NR1608 A/V receiver, on a 7.1 Definitive Technology pro series set of speakers. I have nothing to complain about the Definitive Technology, they have been doing a fantastic job for the type of sounds and surround I wanted, however recently I felt the need of feeling the room filled with a "wider" sound, more powerful and wraparound. I had been looking at Klipsch for quite a while now, I like the made in USA concept and manufacturing, and the reviews I've been reading have been always highly speaking of the brand and quality. Before installing these 2 speakers I loaded Mad Max Fury Road 4k blue ray, and watched the chase scene with the old speakers. Then with the RP-600. I was immediately hit by the wider spacial range of sounds ( of course the cones are wider). I felt like the surround itself was enhanced, hearing it coming from behind my ears where where your eyes blind spot is. I have that result in a "poor" placement, as you can see from the picture the bookshelf speakers are on the floor ( on large felt pads bought at Lowes). I can't emagine when they will be placed on a stand, eventually, around 20/30 inches height! Let me say this: go for it, you will never ever regret the choice.

Pros: Sound is powerful, wide/large, and warm, hits all high medium and low ranges fully! The design is elegant, especially the walnut or cherry wood. The grille is magnetic and detaches/attaches easily. Without the grille its quite visual appealing as well, everyone will say "wow" once they see it!

Cons: It's not a Con per se, but mind these speakers are big. I knew what I was getting into as I used cardboard and built a mock up before the purchase, still once they got home the first thing I said was: wow they are big!

These speakers are overpriced. I bought them because of all the stellar reviews I saw. Don't believe them! I am no audiofile at all. Just a home theater enthusiast. I use my speakers mostly for music, but love a good 4k bluray with good surround sound. I had Polk Audio RTIA3's already when I bought these speakers. Thinking they would be an upgrade. The Klipsch had good highs and midrange and I know that some speakers take some hours of use before they fully develop their sound. And I kept playing. But they never produced good bass. The Polk Audio RTIA3's are much better speakers and they sell for less than half the price of the Klipsch RP-600M. Not sure what all the experts on youtube are hearing when they gave these Klipsch such great reviews. They are harder sounding speakers and do have a lot of treble and midrange, and may do well for listening to dialogue on a movie or tv, but they are not for music.

Pros: They Look Good.

Cons: Not worth it.

After reading positive reviews about the RP-600M's and comparing them to Elac's and others of similar price, I made the choice on the Klipsch and am I glad I did. These sound really great even with my cheap (less than $125) Sony 2-channel receiver. Decent bass for speakers of this size (a sub wouldn't hurt as an add on) sounds great at almost any volume level. Hard to imagine speakers at this price level sounding this good or finding speakers twice this price any better. All the reviews talking about how great these speakers are are true. Ordered on a Wednesday, rocking on them Friday, excellent service by the Crutchfield team!

Pros: Clear sound, easy to drive, they will get loud!

Compared to what I was replacing, these speakers blew the Polk Bookshelf speakers I have away. It wasn't even close. I will be purchasing speaker stands for them in the near future as the sound at ear level is amazing. I did a test, putting them on kitchen stools compared to the ground, and it is clearly much better to have them at ear level in the room. They pound out plenty of bass for me, but maybe if you are wanting a room thumping experience you may still want a sub-woofer to go with these. The clarity on the high end is just so much better than the Polk's, it is just amazing. I feel like I totally got what I paid for. Wish I had done this years ago.

Pros: Great sound. Period!

Cons: Need to elevate off floor, so just be aware. Either have a shelf (not with your turntable!) or stands for them.

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Purchased the Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-600M to be driven by a Bluesound Powernode 2i for a home office 2 channel system, and I couldn't be happier with the sound and volume level I get from the combo. I've owned a lot of bookshelf and floorstanding speakers over the years, and the RP-600M has to be the best price to performance ration I've ever seen. Be aware that these are pretty large for bookshelf's (so make sure they will fit in the space/application you have) but the extra size means outstanding bass for a bookshelf. In fact, these are the only bookshelf's I've ever had where I feel no need to add a subwoofer.

Pros: Excellent sound stage, very efficient and plenty of bass for a bookshelf. Great performance to price ratio.

Cons: They are large for bookshelf's, but this isn't a problem for me. Especially since they eliminate the need to add a sub, in my opinion.

Great sound, but still dialing it in. Paired with 600Ms for surround and 600C center channel and a pair of 500SA Atmos speakers. Powered by Denon AVR-X4500H. The top end feels a little thin, but overall quite pleased. These still have lots of power left, so I feel that these could benefit by a pre-pro system, bi-amped for the L- and R-fronts. I'm no audiophile though, so your mileage and opinions may vary.

Pros: Great big sound in the lower and mid ranges with minimal power. Lots of

Cons: "Walnut finish" seems a bit cheap-ish. Appears digitally printed. A little in the higher register, especially at high volumes. Could possibly benefit from bi-amping and more power, but I'm still learning.

I had been looking at speakers for a while and was seriously considering floor standing models but I recently moved and my new living room is much smaller. So after much consideration I opted for these Klipsch RP-600M's. They have not disappointed me in the least. The problem I faced from the outset was I have a very eclectic taste in music. I listen to everything from the Allman Brothers to Frank Zappa plus George Benson to Grover Washington. Then there are days when I yearn for Haydn and Mahler. So, I need a speaker to handle all of those and I have for these to have done a fantastic job. I did have one concern which I have since remedied. My amplifier was a twenty-five pyear old Technics and I wasn't thrilled with the job it was doing. I suspected that the RP-600M's would sound much better through a newer power source. So I will write more on that later but I did purchase a new Yamaha receiver and I was right, those speakers really came alive with better amplification.

The best affordable speakers you can buy

Daniel from NORRISTOWN, PA on 9/14/2019

I selected these speakers for my Yamaha A-S701 stereo amplifier to match the wattage as closely as possible; I have them bi-wired with 12-gauge KnuKonceptz Kord Kable and placed atop Sanus SF26-B1 Speaker Stands. They're a lot larger than I anticipated, but the sound reproduction and frequency response match even the most expensive bookshelf speakers available. You will absolutely need stands or isolation pads to reduce unwanted vibrations from the cabinets; too much sound bleeds from the cabinets for what is essentially Klipsch's "flagship" bookshelf speaker (minus one star). The only other problem I have with these speakers is the build quality: one speaker came with noticeable cosmetic damage from the factory (smeared adhesive on the cabinet and around the woofer, in addition to fingerprints in glue) and the other speaker's tweeter is comprised of plastic that was cut poorly from a mold; both flaws are seen easily even from a distance (minus another star). I previously owned the Klipsch R-15PM Powered Monitors and they were manufactured flawlessly--especially surprising considering the price difference! This seems to be an unusual lapse in Klipsch's quality control and I'm rather displeased despite the high sound quality. Note: these *do* accept banana plugs; however, you need to remove the small cap on the 5-way binding posts to use them. This can be done easily with your fingernails or carefully with a small knife.

Pros: Amazing sound reproduction, fantastic frequency range, price, bi-wiring compatible

Cons: Cosmetic damage, inferior cabinet build

These are great speakers! I now hear the more intricate details I was missing with the older Boston Acoustic bookshelf speakers these RP-600M's replaced. They really go well with the RM-500C center speaker, too. I think the bass may be a little on the lacking side, but the Klipsch SW-112 subwoofer takes care of that. I wish Klipsch make an 8" bookshelf speaker...like the top half of the RP-8000F towers. As usual, my Crutchfield team (Liah and Max) did an outstanding job in the recommendation of these speakers and in customer service after the sale. Thanks again, Crutchfield!!

As others have pointed out, placement is critical to get the best response. Started on 28" stands, moved to 24" 2 feet from the wall, then 18" stands 2 feet from the wall....now it's what I had hoped for! Certainly other factors play a part, but these changes were the most dramatic over a span of 2 weeks.

I selected the Klipsch RP-600M as a replacement for my old Polk Monitor 70 in my home theater setup. Immediately upon connecting them I noticed a huge difference. The clarity was greater than the Polks and the soundstage was greatly enhanced. For video sources that don't pass subwoofer signal (eg. TV shows), the RP-600M emanate a signifiant amount of base such that I originally thought my Klipsch R-120SW was active. I am totally 100% satisfied with the RP-600M and I wholeheartedly recommend them.

Pros: Price, size, sound clarity, base response, solid construction, brand recognition

Cons: A bit top heavy for the metal speaker stands

Engaging

Startling Dynamics and scale for a bookshelf speaker with a "slightly" forward high end, a supple mid-range, and a surprisingly deep, refined low-end. While they're not the last word in detail retrieval, they're an incredibly fun and engaging speaker that will keep you glued to your seat. Horn colorations are virtually non existent. An outstanding fit for those running vintage receivers from the likes of Marantz, Luxman, Pioneer, and Sansui.

Pros: - Outstanding Value! - Exceptional dynamics and scale - Respectable detail retrieval - Easy to drive - Great lows and beautifully detailed highs - Great construction

Cons: - Imaging could be a bit better. Proper placement is critical - Polarizing appearance

I got drawn into the hype over the RP-8000F and am really looking at the possibility of purchasing those, but I wanted to see how I felt about the Klipsch RP line first, with a smaller investment. So, I got these with the idea that if I liked them, I would later get the towers and use these for surrounds. I am so far loving these speakers as my main/front. I have an older Cerwin Vega subwoofer with low mileage to cover the low end. I am pushing them with the Sony STR-DN1080. My next purchase may be a quality CD player to better enjoy the music on these. It seems like a shame to use these as surrounds.

Pros: Look and sound beautiful.

Cons: None, but keep in mind that they are not towers. Many of us will want to have a subwoofer working with these.

Reluctantly replacing my Klipsch Reference speakers from the 1990s, do the space constraints, I bought the RP 600M speakers. Good all round speakers

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I am using t hese speakers with a Marantz 611 stereo receiver. It sounds great with this combination. The speakers are neutral and that sort of speaker sounds good with anything. Speakers like that are well reviewed and become classic designs. I suppose a subwoofer is a must for many. I don't care much for sub woofers because of room generated resonated distortions. An open sounding detailed sounding speaker for my tastes is best. It must be clear sounding and not muffled so the sound does not sound like it emerged from a box. This way you think about the music not the sound. I like Sacred music ,Classical and Jazz but for rock fans listen to The Rolling Stones they are loud and raucous and a beat band that always rocks, they sound great on these speakers.

Pros: Exceptional sounding speaker a classic design because they do what a speaker is designed to do they sound good. Good with all music sources and detailed with open sound.

Cons: I don't know if they are adaptable to accepting banana plugs bare wire is no problem. Like almost everything these days even the best stuff they are assembled in China. Get over it that is not a problem.

Dynamic power houses

Allan from Royal Oak, MI on 4/6/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

These are very dynamic speakers and have good bass (for a bookshelf). However, they can sound a bit harsh with some amps. I tried these with a tube amp (35 watts/channel) and a set of class D monoblocks (140 watts/channel). The monoblocks sounded better overall and cured the harshness in treble delivery so I'm sticking with those for amplification. Overall power should not be a problem at all since these are very efficient compared to other speakers that I have used. If you are running these as front L/R or are just a bass lover you will want a sub. I'm using them for 2 channel listening and will eventually pair with a sub. I think many will be pretty happy with these speakers right out of the box . . . These are my first Klipsch and I'm pretty impressed with the sound. In fact I'm really, really impressed with the price performance ratio on these.

Pros: Dynamic Power efficient Great sound for the price

Cons: treble can be harsh on some tracks

Impressed. Using these as desktop speakers. Was going to buy the 500M but they were out of stock. So I figured... why not. Not disappointed one bit. Music sounds amazing. Games are mind blowing. Worth the price here. I think for desktop application they might be a little too big, but if they fit... why not? Will be building 4" stands for them to get the horns at ear level. Center image is so dead on it's crazy. Details in the highs. Lows get low enough, but I use with a subwoofer anyways. Zero listening fatigue.

Pros: Large, beautiful, perfect center image

WOW!! These little speakers are amazing! They really surprised me with the sound that they can produce for just a bookshelf! I have the Klipsch R-625FA and they come pretty close to matching that sound minus some bass of course. These were purchased for surrounds in my home theater setup, but I'm glad I decided to try these out as stand alone speakers for music. If you do not have the room or are working with a smaller budget, these speakers will fit the bill perfectly. Highly recommended product!

The clarity of the highs on these speakers is fantastic, but I had to add a sub to get the low end to sound balanced. That being said, I had to turn these to cross slightly in front of my listening position to avoid ear fatigue with these speakers bold high end. The mid range is also lacking for me on some rock tracks such as Smashing Pumpkins. I would still say I have been satisfied with these speakers because they seem to excel on most genres with the added sub which I picked up on sale. I actually considered returning these for these reasons, but ultimately decided to keep them. You can probably find better options for the cost. It all comes down to what you preferences are.

Pros: Highs

Cons: Mids Lows Price/performance ratio for me

These speakers are spectacular. They are very dynamic, instruments come to life in my room. Bass is deep and tight. Piano sounds real, drums have a punch and kick unlike what I have heard from typical speakers. I've been playing everything, from rock, jazz, blues and classical and these speakers have delivered the goods on it all. Mine are paired with a new NAD C-368 integrated amp, and together this system sounds much better than many I have owned that cost far more. Hats off to Crutchfield for not only selling these wonderful products, but with their return policy I am able hear components in my home without any risk. The Klipsch and my new NAD are both keepers. Highly recommended.

Just what I was looking for. A Klipsch that sounded like a Klipsch. A small speaker for a small room, for music. These are not small for your typical bookshelf or surround size speaker. And the sound is not small either. Paired with an Onkyo TX-8220 rated at 45 watts, 40 year old Marantz turntable and 20 year old Kenwood 200 disc changer, my old music came to life. Perfect size for an old bedroom, converted into a home office. Larger rooms may require a small sub, but for my area, they are perfect. Oh yeah, they're Klipsch, so they can get loud also, but for my taste, low to mid is all I am looking for and these have blown me away. I was very skeptical about the purchase because I've heard other Klipsch at big box stores and they didn't sound like the ones I had heard growing up. These sound like they're supposed too. They may need to change the name to Baby Heresy's.

Pros: Klipsch-Enough Said

I have not listened to other brands, so, I can't compare them! This is an initial review and may change as the speakers break in. I did play a tone overnight to help the woofer break in and they did clean up. So, I have seen these speakers called monitors a few times. I was considering them for Home Theater, but I also was really curious if these would work as reference monitors. When I first got them going, my initial impression was that I am impressed how dynamic they are. They really get loud, drop low for the size, and the tweeter doesn't outrun the woofer when pushed. However, after listening for while, I can hear a lot of cabinet resonances. I cannot hear a lot of detail in the music that I am used to hearing. It gets kind of smeared together and lost. The tweeter seems to have some throat distortion or something because cymbals and things don't sound as real as they should. Next, I will try these for my home theater and see how they perform there. I expected more for this price range. My $300 powered monitors have a more detailed and transparent sound by far. I believe the cabinet design and internal insulation might be lacking based on what I am hearing. It seems like Klipsch made some amazing drivers, but went cheap on the cabinet. The other problem I have is that they are "made in China." I thought this company was american! It seems like some more bracing and internal insulation would help these speakers a lot. I am using a VSX-42, lossless music

Pros: Great output, great bass, great phantom center channel, very dynamic sound that you can feel

Cons: Cabinet resonances smear the details in the music, Cymbals in the tweeter don't quite sound real, a little expensive for how they sound, they are "made in China"
