Well....This was the first and biggest disappointment that Klipsch has ever dealt me. I have full surround systems in two other rooms in my house and just wanted something simple and entry level as a boost for the monitor in my gym room. The sound out of this blows! It isn't worth the klipsch name nor is it a bargain at the low price point. The TV speakers are better. I have been pretty loyal klipsch user for years but have recently bought 2 other Bose products and they are just seeming better and better.

Awesome Service!

I normally would buy something with all the bells and whistles, but unfortunately this time around I was limited by the width of the rack my TV sits on. Having a 36" space limited my options, but since Klipsch is on of the top names in speaker technology I decided to give this sound bar a try. I ordered on a Sunday night and the bar arrived on Wednesday evening. It seemed fairly easy to hook-up, but for some reason I couldn't get it to work. The manual it comes with is near useless and the Klipsch website wasn't much better. Getting desperate I called the Crutchfield service line. I commend Crutchfield for having user friendly service hours, as they are open until 10PM EST. To my surprise the rep spoke perfect English, no overseas service site here. He was extremely helpful and I got the feeling he actually cared about my item not working. He was extremely patient and talked me through all the steps necessary to get the bar up and running. Sadly even though the Bluetooth worked we couldn't get the TV portion working. No problem! He immediately said a new unit would be out the next day and I'd have it by Monday. To my surprise the replacement arrived on Friday and I sent the old unit back prepaid the the next day. There are a lot of stores who want your business and will give you what seems like a great deal, but when something goes wrong they are nowhere to be found. Not the folks at Crutchfield. I will be a future customer for any new electronic purchases.

Pros: Size Price

Cons: Doesn't come with all the bells and whistles.

Great Bar

John from Memphis, TN on 5/2/2019

I'm a Klipsch person, I have a pair of Klipschorns and I just like a horn sound. These are nice sounding Klipsch's... If a person wants thundering theater like sound, they will be disappointed as low volume the bass is soft. But if you're like me and like accuracy, these can't be beat. This bar really shines at mid to loud volumes, I would put it up against the best at that point, and especially for the price. I just plugged mine in and everything just happened. I did have to program the tv remote to it, a bit of a problem but taken care of. I would buy another tomorrow and may get another soon.

Pros: Great sound, accurate, especially at mid to loud volumes.

Cons: I wish it would fit under tv, would save room maybe I'll get some books for the tv legs.

Good value

Jeff from Alexandria, VA on 2/23/2019

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Was using bookshelf speakers (good ones) driven by stereo receiver, but switched to this sound bar for sake of space savings. Sound is good, but doesn't deliver the bass like the old set-up, but I will sacrifice the bass for more compact layout overall. Easy to synchronize tv remote with sound bar remote so everything turns on with one click. Easy to understand controls (digital vs analog and surround sound mode). Recommended if you're not a bass freak and want to keep your total expense around $200. Klipsch is known for good speakers.

Pros: Easy to integrate controls with TV

Cons: Bass is a little light if you're used to full range speaker reproduction.

It's a good speaker. Just what I wanted for sound. The only negative is that it turns on randomly or when you use the volume button on the cable tv remote. You have to turn the sound all the way down when you shut it off. Not sure why this happens but I did see some reviews on this issue.

Like most people, I bought this to enhance the dialogue and it does that well enough but there are some programs where the characters mumble and speak softly so there's nothing to be done about that. Seems to be some kind of annoying trend lately with certain productions - and there's nothing wrong with my hearing! The only remedy would be to drag out the old 5.1 surround system and I don't want to go there again. The unit paired well with the stock TV remote after blundering through the instructions a couple times. Don't have a cable box or satellite receiver since I stream only so can't comment on that, download the user's manual to see what kind of grief is involved with those.

This Baby may be small but Man can it Rock!!! My TV speakers had blown and I needed a Fix without buying a new TV. This Sound bar was perfect for my needs. I didn't need a Subwoofer because I just wanted to be able to hear, what I got was Klipsch, which said it all, this Baby has great sound and Bass, like everybody says is not Loud enough, but it was in my situation. I have 2 stereos that rock, which I bought from Crutchfield so I didn't need an overpowering Sound Bar!! Great Price, got free shipping, it took 2 days and it is always quality if it came from Churchfield. You don't need to buy from anybody else, they make it happen with a Great Price and they will not only stand by the products but will be there to help you!!

Pros: For replacing the TV speakers, this Rocks!!

Cons: Could have better Bass if you want, then get the Sub!!

I decided to by this integrated bass/treble sound bar because of the small space I have in my condominium. The sound is better than I expected, with bass speakers on ends of the unit. Meets my need for both sound and space. Good at high volume, however may not have the thundering bass some people like. I life in a condo, so want to be considerate of other residents. Also, I have had a very positive experience working with Crutchfield on helping with selecting products.

Good investment overall. Needs a subwoofer for inhanced bass, but I needed it for clarity of spoken words and for that it works very well. I bought klipsh brand because of owning a pair of RF-3 speakers for many years.

Pros: Inhanced clarity of spoken words. Much better than tv speakers

Cons: More bass overall

This was a gift to a family member. The set up was quick and easy, luckily the TV had an optical out which is the only cable that comes with the sound bar. But you can use the smaller headphone-esque connection as well. The sound is great, especially when you space yourself from the TV, sounds good when you are 10' or more away, not that it is bad close. But you definitely get a better effect when you give the unit enough space to spread the sound. The bluetooth works well for music play too. This makes it a nice versatile unit. The only drawback I found with the unit is that it eludes that a TV remote will control the volume. That is true, but true to the point that ONLY a TV remote will work along with limited cable remotes. It's in the manual, check it first. That might be another drawback, the manual is a bit lacking. I've always had good luck with Klipsch, and this unit so far is no different.

What a find!

Nick from Topeka, KS on 12/14/2017

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

When I moved my 40" television didn't make it. So, out I go and wound up with a 50" television. In the new house there are no pictures up yet and it is hardwood throughout - so sound just goes all over the place. The speakers on the TV just weren't cutting it. So I looked at Crutchfield and called them for suggestions, Spoke with Barry and we came up with the Klipsch Reference RSB-3. Then there was a problem with the CC since I just moved and the order was put on hold. After taking care of that problem, I called Crutchfield back and they put the sound bar on a 2nd day delivery at no further cost to me. THIS IS GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Anyway - the actual product works like a charm - very easy to set-up and operate - and it SOUNDS AWESOME. So much better than the TV speakers. Thank you Barry and Crutchfield. I will continue to shop here. Again - GREAT customer service and great products

Pros: Easy installation. Easy operation. Sounds great.

Cons: A little difficult to get the volume control to link with the tv remote - but that is small potatoes.

Product Research

Features

Tractrix Horn Technology: The Klipsch RS-B3 active soundbar speaker is equipped with two 0.75" horn-loaded textile dome tweeters with 90° x 90° Tractrix horns that deliver crisp highs and vocals, plus dual 2.5" fiber composite woofers for dynamic midrange and midbass. By incorporating highly efficient horn-loaded technology into the soundbar, all sounds are more detailed, dialog clarity is significantly improved, and overall output is maximized to cover even the largest listening areas.

DSP Controlled Bi-Amplification: The tweeters and woofers are bi-amplified and utilize a DSP-controlled crossover network. Each tweeter receives 10 watts of power, while each woofer receives 18 watts of power (for a total system power of 56 watts continuous).

Bass Reflex Enclosure: The active soundbar speaker features a Bass Reflex enclosure with side-firing ports for greater efficiency and bigger bass response. The enclosure is made of ABS and features a black metal mesh grille.

Dolby Audio Decoder: The Klipsch RS-B3 incorporates Dolby Audio for rich, clear, powerful sound. Its built-in Dolby Audio decoder allows the Klipsch soundbar system to automatically reproduce detailed, high-output sound in almost any size room no matter what format (including Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2ch PCM) of sound is coming from the TV's output.

Sound Modes & EQ Profiles: The Virtual Surround mode is designed to simulate the effect of a surround sound system. You can choose to turn the Virtual Surround mode off for stereo sound. You can also choose between two EQ profiles (Natural or Dialog Enhanced) in either Virtual Surround or Stereo mode. The Natural EQ profile provides a flat, natural frequency response, while he Dialog Enhanced EQ profile increases dialog volume for enhanced vocal clarity without increasing ambient sounds (only one EQ profile can be active at a time).

Digital & Analog Inputs: The Klipsch RS-B3 offers an optical (toslink) digital input and a stereo minijack (3.5mm) analog input. Using the optical digital connection, the soundbar accepts sound from both the TV and any device (such as a DVD/Blu-ray player or Cable/Satellite receiver) hooked up to the TV. The system supports Dolby Digital & 2ch PCM audio through its optical digital input.

Note: The digital optical output terminals of many newer flat-panel TVs only send an audio signal in 5.1ch when receiving Dolby Digital surround sound from the TV's built-in tuner, network connection, HDMI inputs, or connected USB device; and will output only 2ch stereo from sources connected to the TV via stereo RCA or minijack.

Bluetooth Audio Streaming: The Klipsch RS-B3 features built-in Bluetooth for wireless audio streaming of stored music, music apps, and other audio content on your Bluetooth source device (such as your smartphone, tablet, or laptop) to the Klipsch soundbar speaker system. You'll continue to use your Bluetooth source device to control playback and to view song/artist information. A simple single button press will pair your device with the RS-B3 system. Once paired, the RS-B3 speaker system will automatically re-connect to your device when within range (up to 33').

Note: The Klipsch RS-B3 does not support Bluetooth hands-free communication for phone calls.

Remote Control: The RS-B3 comes with a credit-card size IR remote control for wireless operation of the soundbar speaker system. You can also program the Klipsch RS-B3's Volume Up/Down and Mute functions into your existing TV remote for further ease-of-operation.

Note: Many newer TVs are coming with RF remotes and don't offer IR functionality. In this case, you would not be able to program the soundbar and TV remote to work together.

Mounting Options: The soundbar speaker can simply be positioned on a shelf or stand, below or above your TV. It can also be wall-mounted using its dual keyhole slots and included template (mounting screws not included).

It's Klipsch. I own a lot of their speakers for various rooms and liked the idea of no sub since we live in a condo. The "optical in" was a good feature too as we don't get any AC interference from a small audio cable running next to power lines in the cable channel. The reviews say the bass is good for something this size which doesn't surprise me given their reputation as a speaker designer. Expect to be very happy with it. [ Daniel  Jan 23, 2019 ]

A
I cannot confirm the incompatibility of the sound bar, but we are using it with a Samsung TV (not a QLED set). We are working with 3 remotes: One for the television, one for the soundbar and one for Xfinity. No one remote will learn what another offers. The remotes appear to be tied to their own unit. We gave up trying to have one remote learn a different manufacturer's unit. Best of luck, Marc
