Our take on the Klipsch X20i by Crutchfield's Jeff Miller
Klipsch's flagship headphones
The Klipsch X20i in-ear headphones are solidly built and deliver smooth, well-balanced sound.
The Klipsch X20i in-ear headphones are the crown jewel of the company's reference "X series" lineup, and they're packaged accordingly. You'll find them neatly placed inside of an elegant wooden display case, alongside a genuine leather wallet for carrying them from place to place. These tiny headphones feel durable and exquisitely crafted, with their sleekly angled stainless steel earpieces. Both the earpieces and tangle-free cable have a tasteful touch of Klipsch's signature copper hue.
Natural sound across all frequencies
The sound is all Klipsch, too. There are dual balanced-armature drivers and a crossover in each tiny earpiece to deliver clean sound across a wide frequency range. One driver acts as a dedicated tweeter to ensure you hear crisp high-frequency detail. At the same time the other, full-range driver provides rock-solid mids and strong, lively bass.
Find the right fit
Klipsch included six sizes of their patented oval ear tips, including a super-slim pair. These ear tips conform to the shape of your ear canal. A snug, secure fit helps you get the best possible performance from these powerful 'phones by eliminating outside noise. Plus it helps provide proper bass response. And since the ear tips are extra-soft, you can listen comfortably for long periods of time.
Control your iPhone® or iPad®
A dedicated headphone amplifier will really open up these headphones when you listen at home. But Klipsch made sure you could enjoy their flagship in-ears plugged straight into your phone or portable music device. In fact, the X20i's detachable cable features an in-line remote for convenient control over your iPhone, iPad, and other Apple devices. Play and pause music, skip forward or back, and adjust the volume with the three-button remote. Use the built-in microphone to answer calls on your iPhone, or even talk to Siri.

Overview: The Klipsch Reference X20i in-ear headphones feature a surgical-grade stainless steel chassis for durability and dual armature drivers for high definition sound. The X20i includes six pairs of silicone ear tips, each with the patented oval shape, to assure you get a good fit. A clothing clip and folding genuine leather carrying case are also included.
Dual Balanced Armature Drivers: The X20i features dual balanced armature drivers for a wide frequency range. The KG-926T balanced armature woofer delivers high powered bass, while the high-resolution KG125B balanced armature super-tweeter lets you hear every nuance of your music, including lossless high-res audio files. This true two-way dual armature design lets you enjoy a wide frequency range of 5Hz to 40kHz.
Interchangeable Cables: The headphones' 48" cable features threaded coaxial SSMCX connectors on the left and right sides, allowing you to change cables when you desire. These SSMCX connectors (at 0.2" / 5mm in diameter) are about 35% smaller than industry-standard MMCX connectors, so they don't add a lot of bulk or weight to the headphone cables.
Remote/Microphone: The X20i has an in-line 3-button remote/microphone that is compatible with iPhone (3GS and later), iPad, and iPod (nano 4th gen. and later, classic 120GB/160GB, touch 2nd gen. and later). Functions include volume up, volume down, play/pause, next track, previous track, fast forward, fast reverse, answer/end call, and Siri. There is some limited functionality (play/pause, answer/end call) with Android devices.
