Your in-wall speaker wires connect to screw terminals on the back of the connection center, while the speaker wires from your receiver connect to the center's speaker jacks in front (pictured). Handy Product, Needs Better Instructions

Jim from Palo Alto, CA on 5/21/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A good product but the instructions are lacking. 1) If you use most of the capability of the panel you will be running a lot of wires to one spot. Carefully plan how the wires will run or installation will be a nightmare. 2) You will use 8 drywall screws to attach the panel to the frame. I received 4 screws and they were too small in diameter. I found that for the 2 top and 2 bottom screws I had to angle the screws to attach to the bracket. For the 2 left and 2 right screws, which attached the drywall brackets, make sure you drill holes in the drywall first or it is likely to crumble. 3) Remove the center plate before pushing the wired panel into the wall. Your hand will fit through the hole and allow you to arrange the wires as you install. Otherwise the panel might not even go in, assuming you are installing in a wall. 4) Use your smartphone camera to image the connections through the open center plate hole before you close up. The back speaker connections in particular can get loose as you install. I have used this product now for about 4 months and it worked out well for me.

Pros: Attractive Not too many alternatives like it Good way to run lots of wires to an equipment rack Has enough connections for a fairly complex setup Connectors supplied are high quality

Cons: Instructions are lacking Supplied screws appeared too small in diameter, with 4 instead of the 8 needed Requires patience and planning to install

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I like the quality of the product over all. I am happy with the way that the finished product worked out though there were a few pro's and con's

Pros: final look and finish and stereo push downs are excellent.

Cons: Hooking up the CAT 5 connector takes a bit of know how as following the instructions will not yield the desired result. If installing during the rough in phase of home building would be easy peasy. Installing post drywall, I would recommend not using the metal box supplied with the unit instead build a cutom 1x1 or 1x2 box frame for it. This is due to the small outer lip of the box. Does not leave you much room to put in a solid drywall anchor and the anchors may blow out through the lip.

Easy to use product, but the wires are still are a cluster between this unit and the receiver, not really what I expected to see.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Product works great. Took me a few minutes to understand that back studs popped out to attach in wall wires. I thought connections on front would be traditional bannana plugs, but they are not. You simply thread wires in, after push down on gold stem. In all, very functional product that simplified wiring to one locale in my media room closet.

Overview: The On-Q/Legrand 7.1 Home Entertainment Connection Center (HT1000) provides an attractive, convenient interface to your home theater entertainment system. The HECC provides a single connection point for all the remote cabling used in most home entertainment systems, including phone, data, audio/video, and speaker connections up to 7.1 channel.

Connections: The HT1000 employs a "User side" (front) and an "Installer side" (rear) designed to simplify wire terminations. The "User side" allows easy access to telephone, data, CATV, DSS and audio connection points. The "Installer side" allows easy access to the rear connection points by rotating the top portion of the HECC outward and downward thus displaying readable connection diagrams. The supplied cover plate is an attractive white powder coated meat which allows cable access through the bottom and includes an installed plunger for quick access.

  • Speaker Connections: The HT1000 has a built-in interface board for pre-wire home theater cabling from 5.1ch to 7.1ch. The HT1000 provides gold-plated spring post connections for Front Left, Front Right, Center, Surround Left, Surround Right, Surround Back Left, and Surround Back right speakers along the front and screw-clamp terminals on the rear-panel. The HECC also provides a mono-RCA Jack for connecting your powered-subwoofer. The front side of subwoofer connection is female RCA jack while the rear is a treaded F-type coaxial connector.
  • Audio/Video Connections: The On-Q HT1000 also features three F-type connectors for CATV, AUX and Satellite audio/video signals. All three connections features a male F-type connector on the front and back of the HECC.
  • Data/Phone Connections: The two supplied RJ-45 connectors provide a Data and Phone connection which snaps into place on the On-Q 7.1 Connection Center. A clear snap-on wire retention cap is included with connector to provide a secure fit. Each connector has an RJ-45 connector on the outside and an 8-wire punchdown-type wire terminal on the inside. One connector is black in color, while the other is white in color.

Expandability: Additional whole house distributed audio can be interfaced with the HT1000. The HECC features a blank panel which allows you to add an additional On-Q source input module.

Mounting: The HECC is recess mounted and provides a low profile interface which includes a cover that hides unsightly wire connections and aids in wire management. The supplied mounting bracket and hardware allow you to mount the HT1000 in between two 16" on-center studs.

Dimensions: The HT1000 has the following dimensions: 9.255" W, 10.475" H, and 5.25" D. The minimum cutout required is 8" wide x 8" tall.
