Easy to install

Product was easy to use and install and helped reduce the usual clutter associated with amateur audiophile work. I used this to support my upgrade to Dolby ATMOS, including a second rear subwoofer. Used a faux duplex gang box (frame only ... forget what they are called) to mount this to. Works just like the real stuff, just make your normal cutout then insert this over the opening, pull your wires through, and put on the faceplate.

Bought wrong item....

While the product is clearly made well, I did not pay close enough attention and ordered the wrong item. If the item had an alternate picture I would have realized it had an F-type connection on the back as opposed to an RCA like I needed. Yes my fault for not reading the description carefully but picture of BOTH side would have been nice.

Pros: High quality product.

Cons: Picture of product should have been better

simple enough - instead of dealing with solder or crimps to run along RCA line you can use bulk coax.

Pros: easy, nothing complicated about it.

Cons: nothing really - if you are confused by this product you might want to consider hiring a professional

great product

Great, unique product that I'm also using for the in-wall coaxial cable run for the subwoofer. I'm using it with Leviton QuickPort wall plates to match other wall plates and the fit is a little loose. You may have to adjust the cable behind or use some glue to hold it in flush if the cable behind is stiff...so minus a star for that. Otherwise it works and looks fine.

Pros: price, availability, free shipping

Cons: doesn't quite fit Leviton wall plates as tightly; not a big deal for me (On-Q wall plates would probably work better)

Works great

Works great, I used this to connect a subwoofer with an existing coaxial line, all devices including an AV receiver are hidden in a closet and i needed to place the subwoofer in a corner away from everything, great buy

Pros: Came in a plastic bag not in a fancy box, therefore i got a better deal

Cons: none

Product Research

Features

Product Overview: This is an On-Q keystone insert designed to be used in an On-Q keystone wall plate. It has a gold-plated F-type connector on the inside and a gold-plated red RCA jack on the outside of the insert. In addition to this insert you will need the appropriate in-wall wiring, along with either a standard keystone wall plate or an outlet strap with a decorator wall plate.

Installation Overview: The OnQ Keystone connectors (available in F-type connectors, Cat 5/RJ-45, Speaker screw terminals and binding posts, and multi-colored RCA jacks) provide terminals for in-wall audio and video cables in a single-gang or dual-gang box. Outlet straps and standard keystone wall plates, into which the keystone connectors snap, are available in 1, 2, 3, 4, or 6 port versions. When using an outlet strap, a matching decorator wall plate covers the outlet strap and wiring for a clean installation.

Q
WITH THIS product how would you attach the speaker in-wall wire to the f-connector side?
[ John  Jul 10, 2016 ]

A
You have to terminate the wire with corresponding RCA jack. The jack you want is the type used by cable companies to terminate cables that plug into cable boxes -- that is, a jack with a hex head that screws onto the terminal on the cable box and in this case on the back of this jack (facing the inside of the wall). Notice the threads on the inside-of-wall face of this connector.
[ Eric  Jul 11, 2016 ]
A
You need to terminate the coax to a female f connector and screw it on the back of the connector
[ Pamela  Jul 11, 2016 ]
A
The inside-the-wall is for coax cable, not speaker wire. When I had questions I called up an advisor, they were very helpful, and exceeded all of my hopes and expectations.
[ Joe  Jul 11, 2016 ]
A
I have RG6 installed for my subs, for which these are used.
