Product Research

Overview: The Sensaphone Sentinel Monitoring System (SCD-1200) is a cloud-based monitoring and data logging system that can notify you when equipment fails or conditions change. You can wire up to 12 sensors to The Sentinel to monitor environmental conditions and/or alarm contacts from other equipment. Sensor readings are stored in "the cloud" to prevent data loss, and to give you unlimited information storage. In the event of an alarm, multiple users can receive notification via email, text message (optional), and voice call (optional). The SCD-1200 comes with a power supply and Ethernet cable.

Applications: With up to 12 sensors, the SCD-1200 can be used in many applications, including residential, industrial, manufacturing, medical, agricultural, and business.

Network Configuration: The SCD-1200 is designed to be connected to a 10/100 network hub, switch, or router via the included Ethernet cable. If your network requires the device to have a static IP address, you will need to contact Sensaphone technical support.

Sensors: The Sentinel is compatible with a wide variety of sensors, including normally open/normally closed contacts, 2.8K and 10K temperature sensors, and 4-20mA current sources. Using the available sensors, you can monitor conditions including temperature, humidity, pressure, flow, leak detection, UPS system, and more.

Datalogging: The SCD-1200 can create a datalog of all the sensors you have in the system, giving you a snapshot of the monitoring system at a glance. The datalogging capacity of the unit varies depending upon how many sensors you're logging and what the logging interval is for each sensor. For example, logging only one sensor at any interval produces a maximum of 67,000 samples. If you log 15 sensors at the same interval, the SCD-1200 will store 238,000 samples of each sensor. Logging 30 sensors at the same interval will produce 243,000 samples of each sensor. Once the memory becomes full, the datalogger will start overwriting the oldest records.

Battery Backup: The SCD-1200 features has an internal rechargeable battery backup that keeps the system running in the case of a power failure. The system monitors the condition of the battery, and allows you to view the charge level on the website. If the main power fails, the SCD-1200 will automatically switch over to the backup battery. The Sentinel contains circuitry to protect the battery from deep discharge damage, and will disconnect the battery when all of its available energy has been expended. The backup battery (FGD-0032) should last from 4-5 years, and is replaceable, if needed.

Sensors: Up to 12 external sensors can be added to the SCD-1200 system on the built-in terminal block. Available sensors include: Magnetic Reed Switch for unauthorized entry or intrusion, Temperature Alert, Remote Temperature, Weatherproof Temperature, Outdoor Air Temperature, Humidity, and water detection (zone and spot). These sensors are connected via simple two-conductor cable, using 22-gauge accessory sensor wire.

Data Logging: You can configure how you want to collect and log the data from the sensors. Each sensor can be set up with a sampling rate between 1 minute and 1 month. There are two modes of data logging for each zone: Continuous or While in Alarm. In Continuous Mode, the unit will log the value of the input on a fixed time interval. The Normal Interval sets the logging rate while the value is within the Normal range. The Alarm Interval sets the logging rate while the value is in alarm condition. Choosing While in Alarm mode lets you monitor the sensor only when log value exceeds the alarm limits.
