About the Smarthome™ Hidden IR Repeater System

Now you can hide your audio/video components in a cabinet or closet and continue to operate them with your existing remote control. The visible part of this clever Smarthome system is a compact infrared (IR) receiver which can be discreetly positioned within range of your remote. This receiver takes the IR signals from your remote and sends them to the "repeater box" hidden away with your equipment. The repeater box then distributes the IR commands to the included flashers, which can control up to eight components.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Smarthome Hidden IR Repeater system allows you to use an existing IR (infrared) remote control to operate up to 8 audio/video components located behind closed doors or walls, in an entertainment cabinet, or equipment closet.

IR Receiver: The only "visible" part of the system is the IR receiver, which must be placed within line of sight from your seating position. It receives the IR transmissions from your remote control and sends them to the Repeater Box hidden inside of the cabinet or closet with your equipment. It has a proprietary 4-pin plug for connecting to the Repeater box. The adhesive backing on the IR receiver lets you place it on a shelf, behind a speaker grille, or on an exposed part of the entertainment cabinet. An LED on the receiver will blink when you use your remote control to confirm that it is receiving the IR transmissions.

Dual-Output IR Emitters: Four dual-output IR emitters are included in the package. Each emitter has a 6-1/2' cord with a 3.5mm (1/8") miniplug terminal on the end. The emitters have an adhesive backing to allow you to attach them directly to the face of the components you want to control. You can also place the emitter on a shelf facing the component and no more than 3" away from the component's IR "eye" if you do not wish to attach the emitter directly to the component.

Repeater Box: The "hub" of the system is the repeater box, which accepts all of the wire connections from the IR receiver, IR emitters, as well as the power supply. It can be hidden away inside of the entertainment cabinet if desired.

Compatibility Exceptions: The SmartHome Hidden IR Repeater System is not compatible with Scientific Atlanta cable boxes and AT&T U-Verse boxes.
