The ZVOX SoundBase 770 delivers on that score, thanks to its built-in array of five full-range drivers and three subwoofers. But our customers and employees alike have also said great things about how ZVOX SoundBase systems make dialogue easier to understand — a crucial part of any TV show or movie. Hit the dedicated button on the included remote to engage AccuVoice® dialogue emphasis mode and keep up with the story.

I highly recommend this ZVOX model for anyone who wants good dialog, audio and music reproduction.
Pros: Good dialog reproduction with reasonable sound reproduction for movies and music.
Cons: I would like a very dim LED to indicate when it is on so I know it has automatically turned itself off. Other than that, I am glad it turns all lights off after a second or so.

From the moment I heard the first sound I knew it was the right choice. Good separation and good volume. Accu voice is great.

Much better bass response than the sound bar. If you looking for better bass, get this versus sound base, you won't need a separate sub. That said, the provided remote control is really small and unlit, so you need to pair it up to a universal remote so you don't have to use it. It is a big unit, easy enough to set up, and does a nice job on making the voice audio more pronounced.
Pros: Great base and audio response.
Cons: Small, unlit remote

Love my Zvox. Works great stand alone. It also makes a great center channel for Dolby Atmos systems.

Review - I auditioned a dozen soundbars before buying the 770...and nothing else came close. For TV audio contained in a single unit, it's nothing short of amazing. As other reviewers have mentioned, it does take a minor bit of experimenting with audio settings to tailor the sound for your particular preference. For me, I found SD2 and output leveling ON for TV shows and movies ideal. For XBOX games, output leveling off. I recently gifted the 770 to my elderly parents & it fits beautifully under their 80 inch TV. As they are both hard of hearing, the Accuvoice feature is perfection. The Bose home theater setup it replaced (like the majority of Bose products) is a fine piece of kit. However, they had to crank the volume to wall-shaking levels to hear dialogue. With Accuvoice enabled, overall volume can be reduced by 75% and dialogue is crisp, clear, and prominent. It's a shame ZVOX doesn't seem to be producing this model any longer...so I'd highly recommend obtaining one while you can. It's that good.
Pros: Amazing sound for TV audio in one unit Excellent bass response - external subwoofer is unnecessary Accuvoice is brilliant for those who are hard of hearing as it makes dialogue vastly easier to distinguish
Cons: For music only, it's not quite up to scratch. Sound for music isn't bad...but I don't fault the unit for this shortcoming. It was engineered for TV sound. But for those who are looking for a product for TV sound and music, you'd be much better served with something like a Bose 600/650.

I have two ZVOX 670's and love them so when I upgraded TV's in December 2016 I purchased a ZVOX 770 to go with the new Samsung TV. The sound was great but after it would warm up for 10 minutes or so it would develop loud static in the background. I returned the unit and received a new replacement. The replacement worked for a few weeks and then developed it's own issues after warm up. The volume gradually fades after warm up so I have to keep increasing the volume in order to hear it. Then the unit sporadically has bursts of loud volume followed by extended periods of low volume. I'm now returning it for repair. Reading product reviews on the internet it appears a lot of customers are having similar quality issues with the ZVOX 770. I hope the problems are rectified as I love the sound when it is working properly.
Pros: Great sound, awesome bass, love the Accuvoice feature.
Cons: Unreliable. I'm going on my third unit in 3 months.

Really love this sound bar. Everything is awesome about it. Didn't want extra sub woofer to deal with. Everything is in one sturdy unit. Did have to raise my new 65" Samsung 8500 tv to accommodate it because the tv's legs are wider than bar and the tv sat too low. No big deal. Set up super easy. Even a non tech person like me had no trouble. Also loved that everything was included in the box. Hate when I have to get additional cables before I can get started. Have it in a fair size room. Sounds great to me. Glad I have it!
Pros: Great sound. Easy set up with everything included. Super sturdy.

I've had the 770 in use over a year now. The sound clarity is superb and the bass is deep and convincing. I turn the ACCUVOICE and Output Leveling OFF for music and on for TV. It vanishes beneath my wall mounted flat screen -- no visible wires, no subwoofer in the corner, works with the TV remote. When shopping I wanted deep bass without a subwoofer -- the 770 delivers nicely. The sound is as satisfying as any of a dozen sound bars I auditioned including some very expensive Bose equipment. In all fairness no sound bar can compete with a full well placed home theater sound system, but for the family room and those with limited space the 770 is great.
Pros: Solid, great sound, easy set up, no satellite woofer to place -- IT WORKS Remarkably good for music as well as video
Cons: Do not expect theater room sound from any sound bar for any price.

TV speakers just were not getting it, sounded like it was playing through a pillow. First ZVOX had a problem after it warmed up had a buzz sound in the background, Crutchfield sent a replacement right away. The second one works perfectly. The sound is clear and pure and so much better than my TV speakers. I am hearing sounds so realistic that I thought someone else was in the house and I went looking. Looks great under the TV, sounds great, very easy to operate. Works perfect with my Time Warner Remote too. 5 star across.
Pros: Looks good, sounds great, pure, realistic tone, clean highs, strong mid-range, solid base. Also I love being able to set the desired amount of base and simulated surround to fit my space properly. Voice is clear, we can enjoy watching with the over all volume so much lower and still understand every word, AND has enough power to turn it up, do dishes in the next room and still clearly hear the news! Music sounds great too.

The ZVOX sound base was easy to set up and provides nice sound and clearer dialog -- which is nice for our old ears. It is a stable base for our 65" SONY tv.
Pros: Good sound
Cons: One more remote to have around the house. But the sound base can be configured to respond to the TV's remote.

Setting this up was easy, and the instructions were not even needed. I love having more room on my cabinet I use to hold my 65 inch TV. I replaces a Boston sound bar, that worked fine, but looked weird, as it came with a smaller TV. Plus it was a tad Bass heavy. It did take a few days to get used to the sound, as I was not used to all the sound facing me. However, I have since figured out the correct volume settings and I am happy with it. On movies the higher volume sounds amazing and thumps. I have not tried the Bluetooth ye, but will soon..
Pros: Less space taken up and handles a large TV. Great sound after figuring out volume and Surround
Cons: The option for hearing voices sounds horrible and squeaky

Having used many types of sound bars in my condo over the last several years, I decided to try the "all in one" sound system with incorporated base woofers, and strength to support a new 65" tv as a base. I could not be more pleased with my choice of the ZVOX 870 SoundBase. The setup is truly simple and integrates with the tv remotes very well. The sound is really focused and the settings do a nice job reproducing voice, background sounds and music while also producing appropriate surround effects from the tv and with BluRay discs, the surround is truly amazing. I also use the ZVOX 870 for music play only and prefer using a digital audio connection, rather than Bluetooth, with a High Resolution Lossless Music Player, and again, the ZVOX 870 produces a room filling sound that is crisp, clear and revealing accurate. Overall, I Highly Recommend the ZVOX 870, especially in medium to small living rooms where space is a premium. Terrific Product.
Pros: Everything about the 870 Sound Base is truly remarkable and well worth the investment.
Cons: I have found nothing that might be considered to be a necessary improvement.

One great piece of equipment. It was very easy to set up, and it easily supports a Sony 75 " 4K set. Connectivity via optical cable was easy. The sound is fantastic. My benchmark was the CBS show, Elementary, where the Sherlock Holmes part played by Johnny Lee Miller has a deep accent...He is actually understanable when I activate the Accuvoice on my remote. This is much better than any sound bar system I've ever heard regardless of cost.
Pros: Everything...sound, ease of use, connectivity appearance, remote...nothing that I don't like
Cons: have not encountered one as of yet

I purchased this product to use with a 70" Sony television. As is usual with Crutchfield, the item arrived on time and in perfect condition. It was extremely easy to set up - connect one cable from the ZVOX to the television, attach the power cord and plug it in. That's all for the connections, and even better, the product contained three different cables for connecting it to the television, including the digital optical cable. All cables are more than sufficient length. Programming it is also very quick and painless, including setting up your TV/Cable remote to control basic functions. Sound quality is pretty much what I expected. Compared to other sound bars, it's excellent with good bass. Vocal enhancement works well, and it is a "as needed" feature rather than a default. Sound leveling is not very good - seems to degrade overall sound quality, but that's par for the course for this kind of option in my experience. Sound is definitely MUCH improved over the television's built-in speakers. I'd call the Surround Sound fine for a sound bar, although the various settings don't have dramatically different results. This unit won't equal what you would get from discrete amplifier, speakers and subwoofer, but then again you would pay far more for that. Has an optional subwoofer output which is nice. Overall, it certainly met expectations. And expectations should be realistic - it's an excellent sound bar and NOT comparable to a dedicated A/V system.
Pros: Fast, easy installation. Definite improvement over TV's built-in speakers. All necessary cables in the box and of good length. Good "sound sculpting" options for a sound bar. Sturdy build. Nice appearance.
Cons: For what it is and what it does, really none. Do not expect to be blown away by the improvement; as a sound bar, it's excellent. If you are expecting the kind of sound that a dedicated home A/V system could provide, you'll be disappointed.

Have purchased & returned two prior sound bars to respective suppliers. Sound clarity & base woofer over kill prompted the returns. Ability to set a 55' TV atop the sounds bars returns was another draw back. Enclosure size, along with speaker size was another reason of the returned sound bars. The 770 hits a home run & tags all the concerns I have for enjoyable TV viewing. Thank you ZVOX for a quality product.
Pros: The compliment of speakers, size along with enclosure depth lends to total sound quality. The ability to adjust/select sound quality features via the 770 is a plus. Cost of the 770 was right in my price range w/o going over board on a much more pricey system.
Cons: There isn't any! Buy one and enjoy what TV should sound like!

This is hands down one of the best speaker purchases I have ever made. I was basically "forced" to get this unit because I have an 80" TV and only the 770 would support the weight. This was also outside of my price range since I had set my mind on a sound bar/sub/center channel shelf setup but I decided I didn't want the sound bar poking up above an already huge TV. I am so glad I just bit the bullet and bought the 770. The sound that comes out of this unit is amazing and the net footprint is zero as it is already being used up by the space of the base of my tv. There is no need to use a subwoofer with this unit, but if you absolutely have to have even more bass, the 770 has a sub out. I can go on and on about how wonderful the 770 sounds, but you're just going to have to hear it for yourself. Just get one, you'll be glad you did.
Pros: Easy setup - Power wire and optical cable Simple remote Amazing sound clarity and bass from a thin enclosure
Cons: It didn't come with anyone to lift up my tv so I could slide the 770 underneath

SoundBase 770: The ZVOX SoundBase 770 speaker system is designed to sit beneath your flat-panel TV so you can have surround sound without adding a lot of clutter to your room. It requires no additional speakers, subwoofer, or speaker wires. The SoundBase 770 reproduces TV shows, music, and movie soundtracks with lifelike accuracy, including crystal-clear vocals and big bass. The ZVOX SoundBase 770 is the perfect solution for people who want great sound from their flat-panel TV without the clutter and complexity of a conventional home theater system.
Note: You can place the ZVOX SoundBase 770 directly beneath most 50"-70" flat-panel TVs weighing up to 140 lbs with a pedestal base which does not exceed 35" in width or 15" in depth. The SoundBase 770 has a height of only 3.5". You can also place the SoundBase 770 on a shelf under most table-top or wall-mount flat-panel televisions.
Advanced Speaker Design: The ZVOX SoundBase 770 speaker system incorporates high-quality speakers, built-in subs, a highly efficient amplifier, and digital signal processing for high-fidelity sound. And its all packed inside one slim, compact enclosure.
- 5 Speaker Array w/ Built-in Subwoofers: The ZVOX SoundBase 770 speaker system includes five front-firing 2"x3" full-range drivers and three down-firing 5.25" subwoofers. The 2"x3" full-range drivers use a long-throw design to create a remarkably wide range, accurate sound. The triple 5.25" subwoofers use a high-mass long-throw design and are coupled with a rear-firing port for deep, accurate bass.
- Class D Amplifier w/ DSP: The ZVOX SoundBase 770 employs a highly efficient 125W Class D amplifier that includes digital signal processing (DSP) for superb frequency response. The result is a very warm, natural, smooth, and accurate sound.
- MDF Cabinet: The 770 features a hand-built cabinet of heavy MDF. The speaker cabinet is robustly constructed using fully-braced MDF (medium density fiberboard), not molded plastic that is found any many lesser expensive soundbar speaker systems. MDF is the preferred construction material for high-performance speaker systems.
PhaseCue II Virtual Surround Sound: The SoundBase 770 uses ZVOX's proprietary PhaseCue II virtual surround processing to give you rich, three-dimensional sound with movies or music. PhaseCue II, as its name implies, manipulates the phase of the separate channels to "fool the ear" into believing that sound is coming from a variety of sources throughout the room. The benefits of PhaseCue II vary greatly based on program material. Live music and well-recorded modern movie soundtracks will deliver rich, three-dimensional sound - pulling the sound out from the speakers and into the room, virtually surrounding the listener.
- Music: With music, PhaseCue II creates a very wide soundstage - it literally sounds like you are listening to speakers eight feet apart from each other.
- Movies: When listening to a good movie, the soundtrack will envelop you - putting you in the middle of the action.
- Levels: You can adjust the level of PhaseCue II virtual surround processing effect. You can select from Surround One (low effect), Surround Two (moderate effect), Surround Three (strong effect).
Note: AccuVoice cannot be used in conjunction with a PhaseCure Virtual Surround Sound mode.
Audio Enhancement: The ZVOX SoundBase 770 offers a variety of audio adjustment to enhance your listening experience.
- AccuVoice: The SoundBase 770 includes the ZVOX AccuVoice feature, which uses hearing aid technology to create super-clear voice reproduction. When you push the "ACCU" button on the remote control you engage a circuit that mimics the functions of a hearing aid. The frequencies used by human voices are dynamically emphasized, while other frequencies are minimized.
- Output Leveling: The SoundBase 770's Output Leveling feature automatically turns down loud commercials, while boosting audio levels from DVD and Blu-ray movies that are not loud enough. Simply press the "OL" button on the included remote and a sophisticated processor takes over, making soft sounds louder and loud sounds softer, so there are fewer jarring moments when switching channels or when commercials come on.
- Tone Control: The SoundBase 770 has independent bass and treble controls. Each has a range from -4 to 4, and can be adjusted using the remote control only.
Note: AccuVoice and Output Leveling can be activated simultaneously.
Wired & Wireless Connectivity: The ZVOX SoundBase 770 offers wired and wireless connectivity; including digital and analog inputs, Bluetooth audio streaming, and a subwoofer output.
- Digital & Analog Inputs: The SoundBase 770 has two optical (toslink) digital inputs and one coaxial digital input, plus two analog stereo RCA audio inputs on the rear-panel. Plus, there is a front panel analog stereo minijack (3.5mm) input for convenient connection of a portable audio device. The three digital inputs will support both 2ch PCM and Dolby Digital 5.1ch audio. The analog inputs only support 2ch PCM.
- Bluetooth Wireless Audio + aptX: The ZVOX SoundBase 770 supports Bluetooth A2DP which allows you to wirelessly stream audio from your Bluetooth-enabled Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, laptop/computer, etc.. You'll be able to stream stored music or music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled device to the SoundBase speaker system. The SoundBase 770 even employs AptX audio coding technology for lossless, CD-quality streaming with compatible AptX-compatible phones (like some Androids OS 4.0+). You will continue to use your Bluetooth-enable mobile device for music navigation and to view song/artist information.
- Subwoofer Output: An optional powered subwoofer can be connected using the full-range mono-RCA Sub Output on the back panel for even bigger bass. There is no low-pass crossover built-in to the sub out, so you will need to set the low-pass crossover of your powered subwoofer accordingly.
Hidden Display: The ZVOX SoundBase 770 features a four-digit display located behind the speaker grille that shows the current setting for volume, bass, treble, and PhaseCue II (virtual surround); plus shows when you have engaged the Mute, Output Leveling (OL) or Dialog Emphasis (DE) features. A few seconds after you stop using your remote (or front panel) controls, the display disappears completely.
Remote Control: The ZVOX SoundBase 770 comes with an IR remote control for wireless operation of the system. The included wireless remote has controls for power, input select, mute, volume, PhaseCue II effect level, bass & treble level, and DE/OL functions. The SoundBase 770 can also be programmed to respond to your TV or satellite/cable remote control. Once programmed, you can control volume, mute, input, and power with your TV or satellite/cable remote.
Note: Many newer TVs are coming with RF remotes and don't offer IR functionality. In this case, you would not be able to program the soundbar and TV remote to work together.
Auto On/Off: The ZVOX SoundBase 770 will automatically turn on if it senses a volume adjustment or power command from your programmed remote control or the included remote control. The SoundBase 770 will also automatically turn off if the selected input is silent for longer than approximately 30 minutes.
