A lot of bark without the price bite.

These speakers work quite well in my the area I'm using them in. Give them some volume and the bass sounds great. Highs are also pleasant as well. They really show off their quality when playing vinyl. Sweet! I love bass and if I had more room I would have gotten the larger D9s . I'm happy with them and will probably build or by a subwoofer.
Pros: Good overall sound for the price Great for Vinyl Looks great
Cons: At Lowe volume a subwoofer is recommended.

Great for 2 -Channel Stereo

I purchased the D7's to mate with a Sonos Amp and Project Essential-III Turntable. Mounted them on Sanus Steel Series SF34 stands. The footprint of D7 fit perfect left to right with about 1 inch overhang front and rear. Recommend buying stick on padding strips and placing them around all 4 edges of the Sanus stand speaker pedestal. Doing so will protect the lacquer finish of the underside of the D7's I positioned the D7's about 5 degress angled in toward the center of the listening area. The room is 12.5 ft W x 19 ft L x 8ft H. The tweeters are 77 inches apart measured from the center of each (along the width of the room). Sonically IMO they produce an excellent sound stage given their size with good detail; but lacking in the low-end. I added a Sonos sub that brought everything to life allowing the D7's to really show off their acoustic chops. I speculate that the D7's would sound great up front in a conventional HT setting as the center channel would handle the dialog. That said if you don't want to invest in a sub then you should consider the D9 or D11 both of which have a top mounted passive radiator. To be clear you'll have better sound out of the box with the D9 or D11; but you still won't get the low-end a sub can produce. Bottom-line if you're looking for an excellent bookshelf speaker that won't break the bank then the D7 should be on your short list. However, as I said they really need to be paired with a sub to realize how good the
Pros: Well built Beautiful lacquer Finish Excellent acoustics Well worth the price

Definitive Technology Demand Series D7
Crutchfield customer from Gatlinburg, TN on 1/16/2019
Good, well built Speakers. These speakers are beautiful and seem very well constructed. I've only used them a few hours. At this time the sound is not what I would expect. They seem to have a muffled sound, almost like a muffler was attached. Over time I'm sure they will loosen up and lose that sound. If the ultimate sound quality begins to match the construction quality, then it was a good purchase,
Pros: Quality construction
Cons: Muffled sound

Very happy

I got the definitive technology d7 to use as my surround speakers in my 5.2.2 set up and I'm extremely happy with the performance and build quality. Sound is great especially for the price. I don't no if I would recommend these as main speakers maybe go for the d9 or d11s for that but for what I use them for I couldn't be happier. Five stars for sure.
Pros: Build quality, price, sound.
Cons: None
