Great Soundbar (#DONTFALL4THEFAD)
Crutchfield customer from New York, NY on 1/17/2021
This is a great soundbar. I wouldn't personally look into any atmos soundbar. It's as good as sitting on your wall and trying to pee, hoping it would hit the roof and then fall on the person that's sitting on the couch (#DONTFALL4THEFAD). If you want atmos get it done right. Have speakers on the roof pointing at you. With Definitive Technology releasing their atmos mini 3d soundbar, I'm guess everyone is going to jump into that fad as a minimum requirement. Definitive Technology Studio Advance 5.1 reducing the price is the best thing to happen. Quality built and sound. Using a samsung tv and havent had any issue. P.S: Tried calling Definitive Technology directly for initial setup but couldn't ever get through.I also emailed them and i still haven't heard back from them. Crutchfield support was quick to respond and help me. They even send me a post card. Its the little things that sometimes cause the spark. I appreciate that im not just another invoice number :)

Capable space-saver for HT or workout room
Crutchfield customer from Chicago, IL on 1/2/2021
I made the change from Yamaha HT receiver/passive speakers to a powered soundbar and subwoofer in the workout room in order to save space. The old setup was a bit murky with voices. This holiday season, I got the Definitive Technology Studio Advance 5.1, 120W with an 8? 50W subwoofer (originally $1,499, I got a "scratch & dent" model). The deep discount is because it's being discontinued, replaced with the Studio 3D Mini ($899) with Dolby Atmos, Alexa/Google/Siri voice control, etc. However, that's not available yet, and I don't need Atmos. Mine does have Google Cast built in, so I can stream Spotify and Roon, which works great, and it has 3 HDMI inputs, so I can use my Roku Ultra and also an old DVD player when needed. Dialog is clear and easy to understand, the bass fills the room well, so I'm happy I went with that rather than the cheaper JBL Bar 5.1 ($499).
Pros: Rare audiophile quality build and sound in a soundbar.
Cons: Not quite as robust sound as you can get from a good amp + floorstanding & center speakers. Lacks up to date tech perks.

Def Tech sound bar with wireless sub.
Crutchfield customer from Ammon, ID on 12/21/2020
I bought this for my dad. He absolutely loves it. This is the 5.1 version. I have two of the 3.1 slim version. Hard to say which sounds better. I might actually lean toward the 3.1 slim. Both are amazing. You can never go wrong with Def Tech!

DT Advanced
Crutchfield customer from Bolivar, OH on 12/20/2020
This sound bar was on sale, at a really good price. It came with magnetic risers, which I used to get it above my TV stand. Shipping was quick - and customer service was great! The subwoofer and bar are really designed well and both sound nice. Sub is solid and voice is clear. This is reasonably priced, if you can grab it on sale. Otherwise wait for the soon to be released new model from DT - it packs even more features!

Definitive Technology Studio Advance
Kris from MI on 10/6/2020
Bought these to try to replace Sonos Playbar. I wanted them for the Chromecast features which worked well. They pretty good for music however watching movies was a different story. The voices were very muddled - like in a tunnel. I tried all the various sound modes but couldn't find anything acceptable for us so I returned them.

A nice speaker system for the TV with tight sound and good dialogue from center channel. After replacing a real 5 speaker surround system , the music side of the sound bar is good but does not compare to the big speakers. Listening to music with the sound bar is satisfying my needs with lot less clutter and turns on with the TV for easy operation for wife and children. Expensive good quality construction. The sub works very well for movies etc.
