More details on the NAD AM 17
Modular Design Construction (MDC): NAD's proprietary Modular Design Construction (MDC) makes future upgrades possible with interchangeable, upgradeable modules.
Compatibility: The AM 17 MDC module is compatible with NAD's Master series NAD's Masters Series M15HD and M17 AV Processors. The AM 17 slots into the back chassis of the M15HD or M17. The M15HD or M17 requires a firmware update and software upgrade in order to use the AM 17 MDC module.
Dolby Atmos Add-On Module: Built for NAD's Masters Series M15HD and M17 AV Processors, the AM 17 features Dolby Atmos, a technology that produces a soundstage that is both enveloping and expansive. This is achieved by adding a third dimension of height to surround sound, and evolving the 7.1-channel 15HD or M17 into an 11-channel surround processor supporting the Dolby Atmos soundfield (7.1.4ch or 5.1.2ch setup).
Note: Support for DTS:X will be added by a future software update (not yet available - no ETA).
Dirac Live: The AM 17 employs Dirac Live (for Windows PC and Mac), which is an danced room correction technology. Dirac Live is different than traditional minimum-phase room correction systems in that it corrects frequency response and impulse response, thus offering improvements in the room acoustics, the stereo image, clarity and transient reproduction of the music. Setup microphone is included.
24-Bit/192 DACs: When it comes to audio quality NAD's reputation for state-of-the-art digital engineering is on full display with audiophile-quality 24/192 DACs inside the AM 17, delivering nearly immeasurable noise and distortion with an extremely wide dynamic range capable of fully resolving the most advanced cinematic soundtracks and Hi-Res Audio.
Inputs & Outputs: The NAD AM 17 MDC module is equipped with two coaxial (RCA) and two optical (toslink) digital inputs, as well as two sets of stereo Balanced XLR outputs.
