About the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Mini
High-performance sound for tight spaces
High-performance sound for tight spaces
The Zeppelin Mini reproduces music from your iPod, iPhone, or computer with lifelike clarity. Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) has over 40 years of studio speaker design experience, and it brings the same high standards of audio reproduction to this compact system.
Ergonomic design for comfortable control
Your player docks on the Zeppelin Mini's rotating arm. The arm holds your player up off the speakers, so you can grasp it naturally for operation while keeping it docked. And the arm swivels up to 90°, letting you position your player vertically or horizontally for optimal viewing.
The remote for the Zeppelin Mini also shows careful attention to design. Its smooth, oval shape fits naturally in the palm of your hand. Use it to control basic functions such as volume, play, pause and track skip.
Advanced audio design delivers extraordinary sound
Two 3" full-range glass fiber speakers deliver full, natural sound that belies their size, thanks to B&W's unique woofer design. The "Flowport" in the back of the Zeppelin Mini helps reinforce low frequencies. The surface of the port is dimpled to minimize distortion.
Digital signal processing further ensures accurate sound reproduction, with advanced circuitry that optimizes the response of the speakers. B&W's proprietary dynamic equalization continually adjusts the balance so that your music regardless of genre always sounds its best.
Plays well with your computer
The Zeppelin Mini features a USB port that serves a variety of functions. Use it to sync your docked iPod with your computer or stream audio from your PC. You can even control your computer's iTunes library with the remote. Firmware updates also come through the USB connection, ensuring that this system will deliver optimal performance with your iPod now and down the road.

More details on the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Mini
Zeppelin Min Power Speaker System: The Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) Zeppelin Mini is a powered speaker system made for iPod and iPhone. It is based on the award-winning sleek design of the B&W Zeppelin iPod/iPhone speaker system. It features a standard iPod dock connector, as well as a 3.5mm auxiliary input and a USB Type B connector. The unit includes 4 cradles for use with the iPod touch and the iPhone.
Speakers/Amplifier: The Zeppelin Mini is equipped with two 3" full-range drivers, loaded into a Bass Reflex enclosure, and driven by an 18 watts-per-channel digital amplifier. The unit's rear-mounted Flow Port and sophisticated Digital Signal Processing help to deliver crystal clear highs and rich low bass with no artificial coloration.
Digital Dock Connection: Unlike many iPod speaker systems, the Zeppelin Mini doesn't convert your iPod music files to analog prior to amplification. The Mini's USB digital connection keeps the music files in digital form to avoid losing some of the data and thus compromising the sound.
Rotating Arm: The Zeppelin Mini's iPod dock is mounted on an arm that positions your iPod just above the surface of the speaker. The arm's angle allows you to easily view the display, as well as tap the touch screen or track the scroll wheel whenever you like. The arm can rotate clockwise or counter-clockwise 90° to the horizontal position for viewing videos or skipping through your selections using the "cover flow" feature.
iPod/iPhone Compatibility Chart: The Zeppelin Mini has been certified "Made for iPod" and "Works with iPhone", which means that it has been designed to connect specifically to iPod and iPhone, and meets Apple performance standards. The Zeppelin Mini is compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone model functions (as of Jan. 2010):
|iPod/iPhone Model||Generation||Media Type||Control Type||Display Type||Charge|
|Audio||Video||Speaker Dock||iPod/iPhone||Song/Artist Text||Track Info|
| clickwheel |
Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the device and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to revert to the older software version or wait until an newer software update is available.
Inputs: In addition to the 30-pin iPod dock connector, the Zeppelin Mini offers two other inputs on the back panel:
- USB Type B: The USB input enables you to connect the Zeppelin Mini to a PC or Mac in order to play stored or streamed audio, or to synchronize data held on your computer with your iPod or iPhone. Occasional Zeppelin Mini firmware updates may also be available for download via the USB.
- 3.5mm Auxiliary Input: The 3.5mm mini-jack allows you to listen to an external analog audio device.
Note: The Auxiliary input and Dock/USB inputs operate in parallel so that audio signals present on either will be heard simultaneously. This allows computer alert sounds to be heard via the USB input even while audio is playing from a source connected to the Aux input.
Controls: The Zeppelin Mini offers basic controls for power and volume on the right side of the unit. The supplied wireless remote offers power and volume controls, as well as play/pause, next track, previous track, and select. Playback commands operate the iPod/iPhone, as well as the stored/streaming music files on your PC/Mac, depending upon the audio application in use. (The Zeppelin Mini's remote can control iTunes and Windows Media Player.) Remote dimensions: W=2.041", H=3.129", D=0.958"
LED Indicator: The Zeppelin Mini has an LED indicator on the front panel to give you the status of the player at a glance. The indicator illuminates in a range of colors to indicate different operational conditions.
