About the Furman SS-6

New design, same great performance

Furman's new SS-6 surge protector offers the same dependable power connections and noise filtering as their hugely popular SS-6B, but in a longer, slimmer, "strip-style" design. I'm a musician, and I personally own several of the SS-6Bs, as do many of my friends and bandmates. I could imagine this new version being just as well-suited for onstage use as the boxier SS-6B, and a little bit better-suited for use around the house since it fits easier behind furniture or an A/V cabinet.

Born to take the stage

What makes these Furmans so popular among musicians? It might seem simple, but the beefy power cord is a generous 15 feet long. That makes it easier to reach that AC outlet in the corner of the stage or studio. The heavy-duty steel construction helps, too — you don't have to worry about this one getting crushed by your amp stand or a guitar case. But probably the biggest factor is that you get reliably clean power. When I first started using an SS-6B with my personal guitar rig, I instantly noticed less hum through my amp.

Need to plug in bulky transformers? The "3x2" layout of the SS-6B may suit your setup better.

Q
Can this item be mounted on a wall?

A
Yes it can. There are two keyhole shaped holes at each end on the back. You can't go wrong with anything made by Furman. These are professional grade power strips made to be used on stage by rock bands.
[ Paul  Jul 26, 2021 ]
A
Yes it has to screw mount spots on the back.
[ TODD  Jul 26, 2021 ]
A
Hello. Yes it can.
[ FRANCISCO  Jul 26, 2021 ]
A
I have mine sitting next to my chair. Just looked at the back of it and there are 2 slots, one on each end. I imagine it can be hooked onto a wall hook. I would think it can't be permanently mounted on a wall. Sorry, I didn't keep the box with the directions.
[ Gina  Jul 26, 2021 ]
A
Yes, that's what I did.
[ Mark L  Jul 26, 2021 ]
A
Yes you can
[ JOHN  Jul 26, 2021 ]
Q
What style is the plug to the outlet? I'm looking for a right-angle, flat plug to fit behind a bookcase. A standard, straight-in plug won't work for me.
[ Anne  Dec 23, 2020 ]

A
It's a standard, straight-in plug, and the cord is very thick, which makes it even a little harder to maneuver.
[ JO ANN  Dec 24, 2020 ]
A
Sorry - it's just a standard plug
[ Roger  Dec 24, 2020 ]
A
It is a straight end plug.
[ TODD  Dec 23, 2020 ]
A
It comes with a standard straight-in plug style.
[ Charles  Dec 23, 2020 ]
A
Sorry, it has a standard straight-in plug.
[ Paul  Dec 23, 2020 ]
Q
Can it work on multi voltages example 220 - 240 V and the frequency is 50 Hz?
[ Hassan  Apr 23, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
No it is designed to work on a 120 V system only.
