Product Research
Features
Add-On Bluetooth Music Receiver: The AudioEngine B1 add-on Bluetooth music receiver enables wireless connection of your Bluetooth-enabled devices (such as your Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Windows PC, Mac computer, etc.) to your home entertainment system. Now, you will be able to listen to music files and music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled devices on your home stereo system (your home system must have a free stereo analog RCA input or optical digital input).
Bluetooth Version 5.0: The AudioEngine B1 add-on Bluetooth music receiver features Bluetooth 5.0 with A2DP support, which allows you to wirelessly stream audio (including stored music and music apps) from your Bluetooth-enabled device to your home entertainment system. You will continue to control your music and view song/artist information from your Bluetooth-enabled device.
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the AudioEngine B1 add-on Bluetooth music receiver.
Extended Wireless Range: Most Bluetooth implementations have very limited range (around 33'), usually within just one room. But with careful signal management circuitry and antenna tuning, the Audioengine B1 offer a superior solution that will reach more than one room with no degradation in audio quality. The B1 utilizes special circuitry and a precision-tuned antenna to extend the wireless range to 100+ feet, providing much more versatility and superior sound.
Bluetooth aptX-HD: The Audioengine B1 features aptX-HD coding which is an advanced Bluetooth audio codec that provides much higher-quality sound than previous versions (available in a growing number of Android mobile devices and Mac computers). aptX-HD preserves sound data through the wireless audio transmission, resulting in a "better-than-CD" (24-bit/48kHz) listening experience. The B1 is also backwards-compatible with all previous Bluetooth implementations as well (including aptX [16-bit/44.1kHz], AAC, and SBC), so you can wirelessly stream music from any device and still enjoy outstanding sound.
24-bit Upsampling DAC: The B1 Bluetooth Receiver utilizes a high-performance DAC, widely known for its low noise and high fidelity. The Audioengine B1 is essentially an upsampling 24-bit Bluetooth DAC that will upsample all bit depths internally to 24-bits, thus achieving a higher signal-to-noise ratio. Due to the DAC's high signal-to-noise specs, the fact that the digital signal is converted (upsampled) to 24-bits and the added benefit of triple redundancy power source conversion and filtering, the B1 presents impressive low noise and low distortion characteristics with a noticeable improvement over other Bluetooth devices.
Extended Range: The B1 also has special circuitry and a precision-tuned antenna to extend the wireless range (up to 100'), providing much more versatility than other Bluetooth receivers.
Analog & Digital Outputs: The AudioEngine B1 is fitted with both a stereo RCA analog output and a optical (toslink) digital output to connect to your home AV receiver or integrated amplifier.
LED Indicator: The B1 Bluetooth receiver features a single LED to indicate operation status. If it's on and solid, this means the B1 is powered on and currently connected to a Bluetooth enabled device. If it's on and blinking, this means the B1 is powered on but not currently connected to a device. If it's off (and plugged into power), this means the B1 is powered off (standby) and not connected to a device.
Power Requirements: The AudioEngine B1 add-on Bluetooth music receiver operates off of standard household current using the included external AC power supply or can be powered from a 5V USB port on back of your home receiver (cable included).
Note: The B1 automatically powers down and mutes the output after approximately 10 minutes. The BT input, however, is still active so you can just pair to it again without pressing the front-panel button. B1 will remain on if a device is paired with it and turned on though.

Easy setup. Sounds great. And i can switch it back and forth seamlessly between my Echo Dot (casual listening) to my iPhone for more discerning listening. Just wish IOS devices supported the higher bluetooth connections. Maybe in the future.
