Rounded outside corners and recessed panels allow them to fit into more vehicles, while tough black carpeting defends against incoming nicks and scratches. Pros: Perfect fit, correct specs

Cons: Some of the inner support didn't extend all the way the walls of the box

Nice box but a little disappointed

Yanri from Petaluma, CA on 8/23/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Box construction is really solid and it's a great looking box. Unfortunately for me I have a 12" Infinity Kappa 1200W and because of the inner support bracing in the box my sub won't fit without some modifications to the box. Based on the speaker and box dimensions it looked like this should have dropped right in. I gave it 2 stars because I'm going to have to do the modifications and make this speaker fit as it just wouldn't be cost effective to send this box back. I'd recommend that before purchasing this box call a product advisor and just verify that your sub will fit. At least that way you can make the decision if you want to do any modifications if necessary.

Pros: Well built, looks good and a fair price

Cons: Have to modify so my sub can fit

Great box

Very well built box. Sealed up tight. Running Rockford P2D2 in this box and it hits every note perfect. Terminal are solid and the speaker wire is substantial for the size of sub woofer I installed.

Solid construction and works great with my Rockford Fosgate P3D4. The wiring that comes pre-installed looks a little small but it handles 500w RMS no problem for me.

A well made. rugged box.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Looks great, sounds great. Solidly built box that does what it's supposed to.

Pros: Solidly built. looks good. sounds good.

Cons: My one gripe is that the wire that goes from the jacks to the actual sub are only about 16 gauge, noticeably thinner than the 12 gauge I bought to run from the amp to the sub. Seems like it would have been a trivial expense to use heavier wire for the 6 inches or so from the jacks to the sub. I knocked a star off for that.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I absolutely love this box. It has less air space than what my sub calls for, but it makes for a very precise punch of bass. The black carpet is very sleek, and the combination of my blue sub and black box is stellar. I would recommend this box to anyone.

Pros: Sleek, light, strong, great punch

Cons: None whatsoever

Great buget box

I would give this box a 4 out of 5 stars it sounds fairly good for the sub I have in it is I perfect for my sub no but I like the sound and size of the box ,but I don't think any prebuilt box is going to sound perfect but for the price range very satisfied with this box

Pros: Covenant small box that will fix any were

Cons: None that I can think of great buget box

Very well made box, quality material. I wish there was more enclosure size selections; I may have opted for the 1.2cu for the Rockford 12's. Overall, great sounds coming out.

Pros: Compact and well made.

Cons: Maybe more sizes to select from.

Very well built box

MikeL from arizona on 7/11/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The box is very sturdy and has a good look. I've had my Polk 12" DXI pumping some solid tones from the box for a week and the sound is amazing. Fits perfectly in the trunk of my Cobalt and pairs nicely with the carpet already in place.

Pros: Shipped fast from Crutchfield, good look and great sound. Doesn't feel cheap when you work with the box.

Cons: Not a big deal, but my sub is a DVC so we had to drill a hole for the second set of wire and plugged that with a hot glue gun.

Sub box

Brian from Maine on 1/20/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My last 12" sub box was destroyed after a soaking in the back of my topless Jeep. This 5/8" thick construction of the Sound Ordinance box feels a bit flimsy compared to my old 3/4" box. The SO box has better internal bracing so maybe that will keep it tight. The sound is great, with a very loud and tight bass response using my JL sub.

Pros: Good sound. Nice size

Cons: Feels a little flimsy

Great Entry-Level Product!

H R from Warshington, DC on 12/15/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased this box on sale to pair with a Polk Audio 12" sub pushed by a bridged Pioneer 2X50W amp and I couldn't be more pleased. Although it's true that they could have used thicker MDF, I don't feel that this seriously detracts from the product at this price, and the build quality is top-rate. Interior and exterior are clean and well finished, box seal is tight, and I had no problems fitting the sub into the opening. Install was accordingly easy, and beyond that, the box just sits there and lets the sub do the work. Insofar that I haven't had to think about or worry about the enclosure since the install, I have to say that it is doing it's job admirably.

Pros: Price, especially if you can get it on sale! Everything you need for an entry level sub install. Solid, doesn't feel cheap.

Cons: None: if you want more than this box provides, you need to build your own and stop being so cheap and lazy! Comes with SO branded 'dog tags' which make me feel faintly embarrassed for all parties involved. Sticker was OK, though.

Great value!

Tyler S from Brunswick, MD on 11/30/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

In my last system, I had a Q-Logic box that costs a little more but it seems that the quality is comparable with this one. I like that the carpet is dark so the box doesn't attract a lot of attention to itself (my other box was gray and ugly). I was also suprised to see that the Sound Ordinance logo was stitched on! Also my Rockford Fosgate punch amps fit neatly on the sides and look really sweet.

Pros: Value, looks

Cons: Maybe it could be 3/4" thick but hey, it's a great product for not much money.

I want Q-***** back........

BenD from Cincinnati, OH on 10/15/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love Crutchfield, I love the customer service, I hate this box. Looks-wise, it's a handsome box; carpet is nice and the sewn-patch look logo are cool. It ends there. I was holding the box setting it into place and it slipped sending splintered wood into my thumb. Upon further inspection I found lots of splintered wood lurking beneath the carpet. I stripped the carpet off completely to find the woodworking skills that would embarrass a high school shop class. The kicker here is it's a big heavy box that ships in a thin cardboard box that was damaged behind repair when I got it. I did not feel like dealing with return shipping (especially without a box to ship it in) and hoping for something better SO I ordered a Q-*****. $20 more gets a VERY solid enclosure made right with 3/4" MDF (not 5/8" like this one).

Pros: It looks good.

Cons: A 12 year old could build a better box.

Cons: confusing terminal to configure for 8/4/2 ohms. read up on it.

Quality Boxes

Patty from North Florida on 6/9/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Built to a higher standard than most. I wish the company would make the same box and make it 7" deeper. I could use more cubic feet for some of the subs that I use. I am a tester of equipment and these boxes are the best quality you can get. Just also have one that is deeper and a halr wider for more cubic feet. 10 out of 10.

Pros: Quality

Cons: None

Decent box for the money works good with the 4gen type R filled with polyfill

Pros: Nice carpet small foot print

Cons: There's always better out there but it's still a decent box

Good Solid Box

Alek from Grand Rapids, MI on 3/16/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this box to house an Infinity Kappa 120.9W powered by a Sound Ordnance M-1500 amp. The cutout was a perfect fit for the sub, and I had no trouble mounting it. The whole package is heavy enough that it does not move around in my trunk-the carpet covering helps with that too. The box seems very well built, and I'm not at all concerned about its long-term durability. I'm not in love with the logo on it, but it doesn't bother me either.

Pros: Seems quite durable. Well-reinforced, unlike many others in its price range.

Cons: None so far!

Curt from Spokane, WA on 3/11/2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have gotten a lot of things from crutchfield over the years. So shopped other sites and saw thicker heavier boxes for less but I know C.field dosn't sell crap sales, service, and internet security is second to none.. So even though the box was a little thinner I am very satisfied. The construction is good and tight with good quality spring terminals. You couldn't build a similar QUALITY box for less. You have to know the type of sound you want and this sealed box puts out a tight clean bass (if you want bassy/boomy go ported) with my pioneer 12'' champion DVC sub with 800 watt amp.

Hands-on research

Product Research

Design: The Sound Ordnance BB12-95S Bass Bunker is an unloaded, hatchback-style sealed enclosure for a single 12" subwoofer. It is constructed of 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard), covered in black carpet.

Note: When a Pioneer TS-W3003D2 or TS-W3003D4 subwoofer (item numbers 130W3002D2 and 130W3002D2, sold separately) is installed in this enclosure, there is interference between the interior bracing of the box and the subwoofer frame, such that the sub can't be mounted with the Pioneer logo horizontal. The woofer has to be turned so the logo is at an angle (approximately 45°). Of course this does not affect performance, only cosmetics.

Internal Box Volume: The enclosure has 0.95 cubic feet of airspace.

Terminals: The BB12-95S is equipped with a pair of spring-post speaker terminals, mounted in the rear panel. The spring terminals will accept bare wire, pin connectors, and single banana plugs, but are spaced too far apart for dual banana plugs. Inside the enclosure, the terminals have an attached 18" length of speaker wire for connecting the subwoofer.

Brackets: Brackets for securing the enclosure to your vehicle are recommended.
