It does one job very well
Most manufacturers are jamming more functions into every component they make. The Cambridge AXC35 is designed to do one thing — play CDs and make them sound amazing.
It features a Wolfson digital-to-analog converter and stereo RCA line output, so you can feed signal directly to an amp like the Cambridge AXA35. Or you can use the coaxial digital audio output to connect a high-quality Cambridge DAC.
The AXC35 plays audio CDs, CD-Rs and CD-RWs. You can tailor your listening experience by using one of the component's playback modes: repeat one, repeat all, random, or programmable memory.

The remote also provides wireless control for certain functions of a Cambridge Audio integrated amplifier or stereo receiver; these functions include Source Selection, Volume Up/Down, and Mute.
Auto Power Down (APD): After 20 minutes of no audio playback and inactivity, the compact disc player will automatically go into Standby mode.

So far, all the CDs that I have played sound great. Built in DAC is fine. I can bypass the internal DAC if I desire in the future. Automatic shut down when not in use is a good feature. The price was fine.
