The interface module worked perfectly for my mulitmedia head installation. This was my first time attempting an install, so everything was new to me. I followed the instructions and watched the Crutchfield videos for tips and procedure, all went as planned. Flashing the unit for your vehicle was easy enough. I found the instructions that came with that process were slightly updated from the original link provided. I did connect a 4 pin wire to the incorrect port at first and was receiving a double flash red light, but called the Crutchfield hotline and got straightened out right away. Also I had a few questions regarding the single wire connection that I needed to make myself which went smoothly as well. Amazing support from Crutchfield, thanks for everything.
Pros: Allowed me to keep all factory buttons and system functionality with my new media head. Easy to program and the wires were plug and play with the Crutchfield prewired harness (A MUST BUY).
Cons: None

Really cool for a Cruze
Brian from Cherryvale, KS on 4/26/2023
2015 Chevrolet Cruze
I bought this to integrate an aftermarket Pioneer head unit into a Chevy Cruze that had a malfunctioning MyLink system. It works really well. I like that it retains all of the vehicle settings like lighting and locks. It displays the climate control info, but it does not allow for touchscreen control of the climate system. This might be a vehicle limitation since I don't recall that the MyLink system did any more than display this info as well. It also displays tire inflation info, which is nice. The best part is the added vehicle gauges you get by hooking up to the OBD II connector. My only real criticism of the Maestro is that it does absolutely nothing with the 7" MyLink screen. You will have a shiny new head unit where the old factory button panel was, but there will still be a 7" screen at the top of the dash just sitting there blank. It sure would be nice if iDatalink would figure out some way to integrate the factory screen if only to display duplicate data as seen on the head unit. Something would be better than a blank screen.
Pros: Good integration of factory features
Cons: Leaves the 7" factory screen functionless

The documentation on this was extensive and necessary for me to complete the installation. (The wiring diagram, especially, was helpful.) Only gap was an indication that the factory microphone *is not supported* and that I'd have to use the one that came with the radio. Got really good at flashing the ROM.
Pros: Wiring diagram made the radio installation make sense Enables all of the steering controls with some customization option

Great products but needs better install info
Larry from Baytown, TX on 4/19/2023
2011 GMC Sierra
Good fit & finish. Works very well. The directions are a little lack luster for sure. You basically get a diagram of how it's connected but there's lots of reading between the lines as to what goes where. A description of what each port/plug is for would be nice. I've used several iDatalink devices in the past decade or so and have never had any problems with them other than they don't have really good install info. This is the 1st I've used that you had to connect it to a computer to program it for what vehicle & audio set up you have. Don't be intimidated by this. It's very easy. All in all iDatalink interface boxes work very well. They just need to put more effort into installation info.
Pros: Links everything a new car needs to aftermarket radios. Always works as it should. I've never had an issue with any iDatalink product yet.
Cons: Installation info is not for beginners. You have to know what's going on with the vehicle and why this box is needed. At least most of the plugs & ports are color coded though.

Gary from North Alabama on 4/16/2023
2015 Toyota Camry
With the Maestro unit and purchase of the wiring harnesses, the only bare wire I had to connect was the blue powered antenna lead. All steering wheel controls work fine and all functions of the original LCD in-dash work except for the navigation prompts (which is not really needed with Carplay. Seeing car functions on the Pioneer display is kind of superfluous, but at some point I guess I can use it to check my 0-60 time in the 4-cyl 2015 Camry. Flashing software worked well; the only problem I had was not reading instructions carefully enough at one point. The data lead from the pioneer goes into a black port; there is a blue port that also fits that connector. That didn't let the unit work until I corrected it.

Unless you actually love wiring - get these connectors! reading the wiring guide for my Jeep Grand Cherokee made my head spin - SO when I learned about the Maestro Interface system, it was a no brainer. Just program the unit (easy), click in the various harnesses (simple) and make sure you read the instructions for everything (boring - but WORTH the time. so solder, not tape, and no screw ups. this system removes the need to sloppy or insecure wiring, and everything worked the first time I powered my car back up. Do yourself a favor - look into getting ALL of the Maestro products for your vehicle. you'll be happy you did!

Easy to program and is fairly compact.
Pros: All factory features maintained, including A/C controls, vehicle LED lighting controls, and reverse camera features. Adds ability to see engine and transmission oil temps, tire pressures, battery voltage, etc. to gauges screen.
Cons: The install of all the wiring, flashing the Maestro, etc. can be intimidating. Take it a step at a time and use the install instructions, for your vehicle, that can be downloaded after flashing the Maestro. These helped me the most with the overall install of the entire iDatalink Maestro and vehicle install kit.

Easy Install 2011 Toyota Tacoma
Keith from Erie, CO on 4/2/2023
2011 Toyota Tacoma
Made the installation very easy. All functions promised worked as intended. I deducted one star because they could easily include one extra cable/connector that would allow the backup camera to be moved from the rearview mirror to the new head unit. Instead, it was stated it wouldn't move (so there wasn't any disappointment), so I had to hack my own RCA cable to do this. On the 2011 Tacoma, the connector is right by the ODB2 port, so I had to route a Maestro cable there anyway, so it wouldn't have been any issue to route another cable had one been provided.
Pros: Easy install, good documentation, quick support response from iDatalink
Cons: One more cable could have helped make this a truly perfect install

I should have done this years ago.
Lee Herbert from Yucca Valley, CA on 3/28/2023
This allowed me to retain my steering wheel controls and re program them to do other things like adding some OEM features my truck had I didn't even know about. My truck is as base model as it gets, but now I have tire monitors, door open warnings and a couple gages the dash never had. Each steering wheel button can now do 2 things instead of just 1. I should have done the stereo swap years ago, what was I thinking? Well worth the money and the slight hassles, but tech support was on the ball and helped for start to finish.
Pros: Almost pure plug and play, you will have to program for your stereo and car. Tech support is there to help, just call.
Cons: A little confusing at first, lots to do to get it working if you've never dealt with this kind of stuff before, but Tech support is just a phone call away.

Works well
Todd from Cincinnati, OH on 3/21/2023
2019 Toyota Tacoma
Works Well. My new receiver integrates with all of the car systems it needs to, including backup camera and steering column controls for volume and next track. I love that I can change the factory settings for volume/next track. I'm an up/down volume man, and find it annoying when I'm in a car that thinks right/left is the correct way to do it. My car was like that, and I love that this lets you choose the directions you want for these controls. It's kind of satisfying every time I use it now... "take that!". Kind of expensive and confusing, somehow my car needed another doodad to go with this, so I'm subtracting one star. The installation instructions are OK. I had to go through them a few times to make sure I understood everything. The diagram of parts not needed for my car was missing one of the items I really didn't need. This took lots of time for me to convince myself to go ahead with my best understanding (which worked). So it is working well and I'll forget somewhat about the stuff I docked it a star for, but hopefully this helps you if you're considering this product.
Pros: You can customize your steering column controls.
Cons: Kind of expensive for what it does Installation instructions are adequate, but not optimally clear.

Necessary Addition during Head Unit Change
Christopher from CHAMPLIN, MN on 3/7/2023
2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
First the good. The idatalink module allowed me to keep the factory steering wheel control features and provided some additional diagnostic tools that now pop up on my head unit (something I didn't have before). The ability to add a new head unit and keep my OEM features gives me the best of both worlds. I'm able to keep the vehicle looking and functioning like it came from the factory, but I'm able to have upgraded components that make my drives more enjoyable. Flashing the module is easier than I thought it would be outside a few questions that were written in a way that was slightly confusing for my specific application. Now the Bad. The first module I received had something wrong with it; so after troubleshooting it for a while, and then calling Crutchfield tech support, we finally realized it was a bad module. A new one was sent out right away, but this caused a two day delay in my install; time I couldn't use my daily driver because my dash was torn apart. The wiring seems a little thin/fragile to me, but I've just installed it so that's just an assumption. We will see how it holds up to bumping and jostling around in the Jeep. I do have it secured and the wires wrapped so I don't imagine there being any issues, its just something that caught my attention.
Pros: Maintains Factory Steering Controls

Honestly a must have for being able to customize your steering wheel controls for your radio. A little on the expensive side but well worth it. I recommend purchasing it with the custom wiring harness.
Pros: Pretty easy to flash a new firmware onto when you want to customize the controls. Instructions are pretty easy to understand.
Cons: Crutchfield didn't include the install instructions for the Maestro when they emailed me the installation guide for my radio that I bought this with. The Maestro website had a problem where the make/model/year search for your car was broken so I had to go hunting on google to find instructions. Gotta Love iDatalink
Joel from Rexford, MT on 2/11/2023
2015 Ford F-350
For anyone who has not used iDatalink in the past ( I had never heard of it until this install), the iDatalink stuff is great! I recently bought a newer vehicle. I wanted to transfer the Kenwood DMX907S from my old truck (2002 Chevy 2500HD) to the new truck (2015 Ford F350 XLT). Not a big deal, but I wanted to get the correct parts, and more important, keep the steering wheel controls active on my new vehicle. After a brief discussion with Crutchfield Customer Service Chat I was able to get the iDatalink equipment that I needed, specifically the Maestro RR and the matching iDatalink cables adapter for my new vehicle. I pre-connected all the wiring that I could at the comfort of my workbench. I programmed the iDatalink Maestro RR to my vehicle, which could not have gone any smoother. I did the install today and it all worked the first time out - basically plug and play! No wire cutting/splicing in the vehicle itself! And I still have use of the steering wheel controls! For a "knuckle dragger" like me, the iDatalink system was perfect! Thank you Crutchfield and iDatalink!
Pros: iDatalink equipment worked great the first time out! Easy to follow instructions. Flawless implementation of the firmware update for the Maestro RR. Everything and more was included in the kit.
Cons: Lots of extra cabling, but don't be afraid to trim the extra - Except the pink Speed Sensor cable. Don't cut that one.

Am just happy with the whole thing !

Great product. Mac users, find a PC.
Marvin from OAKLAND, CA on 1/23/2023
2015 Jeep Cherokee
The Maestro RR is awesome! It kept all my existing controls for my vehicle intact while allowing for some additional customizations. The only reason I'm bringing it down 1 star is due to the issues I experienced trying to set it up with my mac. The website says that the software is mac compatible but every time I attempted to begin the module setup it crashed, lagged, or didn't work at all. Luckily, I have a Windows VM installed on my machine (Parallels) and it was smooth sailing from there. This is just a warning to all my mac users out there. The website says it does have mac support but my experience proved otherwise. Other than that, this product is well worth it!

By far the simplest way to integrate an aftermarket head unit into a factory harness. I can now take advantage of features of my head unit that I didn't even know it had. Only downside is that it does not work with the factory Bose amp and speakers.

Retain Factory Steering Controls!
Melissa from COLORADO SPGS, CO on 1/10/2023
2015 Toyota 4Runner
The fact that I could retain or modify OEM controls like steering wheel button controls was the chief reason I opted to install this unit. Flashing this interface on a Windows PC was simple. Be aware that you must either run the "data cable" that is used to flash this device in your glove box (or another location of your choice) or you will be required to tear down your stereo install to access and re-flash your unit for any future modifications that you wish to make. The iDatalink connection harness made this install effortless and completely plug and play. I love the ODB2 gauges that are now added to my Kenwood head unit!
Pros: Retain OEM Steering Control, Plug and Play with optional wiring harness, Interface with ODB2 port for vehicle monitoring and electronic gauges, Simple to setup and install
Cons: Must remove unit to re-program / modify settings unless USB data cable is accessible for PC connect

I really like the Maestro RR but its not perfect. The computer interface needs to be updated and streamlined. It does the job, but they could update the software to make it more professional. It is plastic and doesn't seem overally strong in build quality. I hope it works for years, but we will see. Lastly, I hate things having to connect to my ODB connector. They don't advertise this necessary feature but just know you are going to run a cable and have to plug it in if you want all the features. This is personal prefference but I still hate it. I don't like leaving anything plugged into a plug that checks my system for error codes. Otherwise though, everything does work and it was't difficult to set up.
Pros: Does the Job.
Cons: ODB connection required. Not a fan. You also cannot reprogram on the fly. You better have set everything correct on your PC or you will have to uplug everything and go back through set up. Default worked just fine for my Tundra 2019 but be sure to double check everything is correct before flashing the Maestro and installing.

It worked as advertised at first, however, a few months later the actions stopped matching the command button pushed. It no longer raised the volum when you pushed the appropriate button for that command, it would change station or other random things, it would be different each time your turned the car back on. Waste of money, because it does not do what they advertised it will do. I saw value in spending that money if it did what it's supposed to do for longer than the return policy time frame.

Tacoma / Pioneer Install Made Easy!
Joseph from Virginia Beach, VA on 12/7/2022
2019 Toyota Tacoma
Great product! I used this to install a Pioneer head unit in my 2019 Toyota Tacoma. It allowed me to retain the steering wheel audio/phone controls. I paid the extra $25 to have Crutchfield make the wiring connections between my head unit and the wiring harness adapter. That was money well spent! This box has to be "flashed" or programmed on your PC or Mac before installation in order to ensure the box is setup for your specific vehicle. Don't worry, it's very easy to do. Once you enter your vehicle info, the system auto-populates the default settings for your installation. I would recommend that you set the audio gain to something higher than the default setting of 6, as the sound is a little quiet at 6. Maybe try 8-10.
Pros: Easy to program, works great.
Cons: Use a higher audio gain setting than the default of 6. Maybe try 8-10.

2014 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Installed in 2014 Ford F250 XLT w/Kenwood Excelon DMX9072 This was pretty straight forward to flash with the computer (though I have a MacBook and needed a USB to USB C converter). The factory steering wheel controls, reverse to trigger the camera and auto functions on the deck all work great. Install issue I encountered: The blue data interface cable to the Kenwood deck actually plugs into the black port on this Maestro unit (probably says it in the instructions but there are two ports that are the same look but one is blue and one is black and you figured blue goes to blue). Got two red error flashes when plugged into the blue port and easy enough to diagnose The instructions say that the blue interface cable is not needed, but I did not need it The unit would not pick up my factory GPS and mic, had to install the ones that came with the deck. I'd get the RR2 next time around for the bluetooth capabilities
Pros: Easy to install Decent instructions Compact Easy to flash
Cons: Bit pricey when you include the wire harness you need. Need USB to USB C converter if you dont have a USB port on your computer Still had to install the mic and GPS antenna to the deck as this unit did not pick up the factory mic and GPS antenna

This is a necessary install if you want to take advantage of your vehicle's steering wheel controls. I'm a geek by nature, so it wasn't a huge problem for me, but one thing no one warned me about; it seems the desktop config apps won't work unless you launch them first, and THEN connect the device via USB. I was dealing with a short chassis so it was fairly simple.
