It works great, and is easy to install. Actual tire pressure readings when it normally only says when the pressure is low. Steering wheel controls work, and I can assign several functions to them. A function for press, and a function for hold .

Pros: Tire pressure Beet gauges Steering wheel controls Retain factory microphone

Cons: Expensive

Flawless execution in keeping all factory functions from the steering wheels controls to the factory Infinity amp and speakers. With the right head unit (in my case, the Kenwood Excelon DDX6906S) and my Jeep JK, you pick up additional features like gauges and individual tire pressure monitoring. Well done!

This is what makes the install next to perfect. It retains all my van's controls. FYI: If you have a Chrysler/Dodge vehicle, when programing the Maestro, make sure to disable the U-Connect feature. Otherwise, you won't be able to connect your phone via bluetooth properly. HUGE thank you to the techs that did a deep dive to solve this problem!

Amazing Capabilities

Crutchfield customer from Ellicott City, MD on 4/10/2021

2011 Toyota RAV4

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Amazing! I didn't know there was such a thing. When the consultant (Grant) first told me about it, I thought it was just one of those steering wheel control adapters. It's WAY more than that. It provides signals for things like E-brake on, headlights on, reverse signal from the iDataLink. It connects to the OBD2 connector and provides all sorts of info - tire pressure? location of open door? Intake temperature?! - that my car DID NOT display previously. The wiring appears a bit overwhelming at first, but most of the connectors only work one way so it's hard to really screw it up.

Pros: Amazing capabilities in a tiny box that adapts to almost any vehicle and head unit. Very small and fits in a lot of in-dash locations

Cons: All of the Maestro wiring diagrams seem to be outdated and show connectors and wires that aren't there. It helps if you're a little nerdy and like figuring out where all the connectors and wires go. My Maestro *did* work the first time. The Crutchfield wiring diagram told me to make 3 way connections between the Kenwood harness, the iDataLink main harness and the Metra adapter. The iDataLink and Metra have duplicate connectors. Only one of them will plug into the factory connections.

I've installed many headunits over the last 30 years and the Maestro rr is amazing. It looks daunting at first but between the support from Crutchfield and the manufacturer of Maestro rr, installation was a breeze. My only complaint is that this was for my wife's car and there is no compatible maestro unit for my truck!

Pros: Ease of install Amazing features - even added things the car didn't have! (Dynamic parking lines) Gauges are a great addition Flawless steering wheel button compatibility Able to flash the unit for specific vehicle, even while it is in the sealed box!

Cons: My only complaint is that it was for my wife's car and they don't make one that is compatible with my truck!

This was so very painful to program. Yes, you need a computer, and a USB port. Tried to get it working, 5th time it finally works, however my steering wheel buttons STILL doesn't work. I am done. Do yourself a favor, don't buy this. Just go to a local store, and buy the correct one for your vehicle, not this one size fits all pain in the butt. It's also way overpriced. So disappointed Crutchfield :(

Good product! The only reason for four stars is I was getting a lot of engine noise through my system. I later found it's better to not tie all the grounds together and that's what was causing the noise. It really may not be the product itself as much as it was the instructions to tie all the grounds together.

Pros:

Cons: Doesn't let you keep your factory mic.

Last night I installed this in my 2006 Honda Civic coupe because I wanted to keep my factory Amp, sub and steering wheel controls after upgrading to a JVC receiver. I chose this product because I wanted to retain a bit of features while I decide how to build my future audio system. I immediately noticed reduced noise in the audio. I was almost certain there was no way to retain the factory Amp and sub, so I thought bypassing would be the only option, but this idatalink module covers it all. I went to the website, flashed the module, posi locked all connections to the harnesses while following the wiring diagrams, and everything integrated like a dream! Note that you'll still be limited to the power output of the factory Amp, but equalization settings on the new receiver greatly improved sound. So, the idatalink maestro rr, along with your car's specific wiring harness, makes installing a new receiver and retaining factory features a breeze!

This module worked perfectly with 2018 Focus ST and Kenwood DDX9907XR. I used this in conjunction with iDatalink KIT-FOC1 dash kit. The KIT-FOC1 came with a vehicle specific harness which was used instead of the cabling that came with this unit. This module was very easy to program with Windows PC and the included programming cable. I retained steering wheel controls, backup camera, and integration with stock Sony amplifier. The Kenwood head unit added additional features that the stock Sony did not have. These include climate controls and vehicle info like tire pressure, battery voltage, oil temperature, etc.

Pros: Easy to program Provided additional info to the head unit Retained backup camera, steering wheel controls, and stock Sony amp control

2011 F-350 SUPER DUTY LX STANDARD CAB / KENWOOD DMX7706S Excellent product/company. After spending two weeks, many discussions with professional technicians, You Tube video's, reading, research and about $200.00 trying to figure out the "PAC audio" set up. I got so frustrated and decided to look around and came across Crutchfield and purchased the "iDatalink Maestro RR Interface Module" (super fast shipping with Crutchfield). This company requires you to enter very detailed information about you vehicle so that they can set you up with everything you need and matches up perfectly. I now have many features that I didn't think my vehicle even had. It took me maybe and hour to program the interface and connect the wires following a very easy to reed/comprehensive instruction manual (with pictures and helpful side notes). I plugged everything in and it all worked perfectly (steering wheel controls, radio, speakers sound just like factory with zero static/crackling unlike the "PAC audio" unit, features that I didn't know I had considering I pulled out a basic Ford radio like door ajar, tires, battery, all KENWOOD audio settings and many more. You have no idea how happy I was and really can't say a single negative thing about the entire process. Still trying to figure out the OBD2 but I'm sure I soon will with the highly rated Crutchfield customers service. Thanks all for a great product. Be sure, when ordering to purchase everything they say you need. You won't regret it.

Pros: -Fast shipping -Very clear instructions (Read all instructions word for word and under stand them before you start) -Product allows you to add many more features in the future if desired -Great product,

Cons: None, And I really mean that

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I used the Maestro RR and a Kenwood Head Unit in my 2008 Explorer. I was able to retain most of the functions in my vehicle, and I gained some very nice features. I opted to keep SYNC active, however I do not use it since all of the same functions are also available on the head unit. I especially like the TPMS readout. The factory system only lights an indicator if a tire is low, it does not tell me which tire. The Maestro shows me the actual tire pressure in each tire, love this. On my Kenwood however, you have to go to the TPMS screen, as the widget on the home screen does not update unless you go to the TPMS screen. The gauges are pretty cool too, though I don't use them very much. Programming the unit was pretty easy. The one problem I am having, is that the speed volume does not work. My factory system had that, and I REALLY miss it.

Pros: Integrates factory systems with head unit Easy to program TPMS shows actual tire pressure in each tire Reads and clears Trouble Codes

Cons: TPMS widget does not update Speed volume does not work

It was very time consuming but I'm glad I did it myself instead of paying a shop 400.oo to install everything

Pros: Everything worked like it should one I figured it out . I data link people were very nice and walked me though the download and flashing sequence etc

Cons: Make sure you have a windows based computer to download and flash the module on order for everything to work correctly. You might have to adjust your radio brackets a few times to get it to stick out far enough and to clear the main dash support bracket that you cannot remove etc.

Installed in 2011 Honda Civic EX-L sedan with Kenwood DMX957XR stereo head. Compact size, slightly smaller than a deck of cards. Easy to program for anybody who has ever flashed EEPROM devices before. The software was easy to install and navigate on my Windows 10 computer. You are given the option during the process to select primary (press & release button) and secondary (hold button) features for your steering wheel buttons. The software lets you review all the settings before actually programming the module. [Note: For the programming process, I needed the cars' exact year & model and steering wheel configuration along with the stereo model & serial number.] I have barely started to explore the other features it allows on my stereo from connecting to the OBDII port such as gauges, error code, and tire pressure. [Note: These features not available on all stereo heads. Check your stereo for compatibility.] The harness Crutchfield sold me with the module worked great. Make sure to get the correct harness to go with it.

Pros: Small. Easy to program via USB port. Software easy to navigate,

Cons: None

Great product. Steering wheel controls and backup camera worked perfect. I received this in a complete car kit fir my 2018 Tundra. Make sure you program from your computer before install. It was an easy process with very obvious choices along the way. Use the website given on the piece of paper it comes with. Wire connecting was a little confusing for me but I figured it out with help from a friend. If you are doing a self install it might benefit you to spend the extra money and have Crutchfield connect the wiring for you so it can be plug & play. They do have online instructions from their site for all cars. Looked like a great choice. But either way it's doable. Best

Pros: Easy programming Connects easy

Cons: Not a con but just have to be able to have a little understanding for the wiring.

Great product to retain factory options of the vehicle to include steering wheel controls. Very easy set up and flashing process! The ability to custom program steering wheel buttons is amazing. I found Apple IOS Catalina did not recognize the Maestro. I used a friend's Window-10 laptop which made quick work of the flash. My recommendation is to save yourself the headache and have a Windows based laptop available for the flash.

This worked perfectly in my 2017 Crosstrek Limited with a Kenwood DNR876S radio and iDatalink Maestro RR Interface Module with the iDatalink HRN-RR-SU2 interface cables. I spent time reading all the instructions before flashing the module. Also I prewired as much as possible on my bench before I installed the equipment. Everything worked perfectly first time out. I can read the tire pressure as well as the door status. I'm sure that there are more things but I've only had a day to play with it. There were a few extra cables that weren't needed and were left over. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! The only call I had to make to Crutchfield support was about the Starlink wire. Crutchfield customer support also gets 5 Stars. Just a note, I'm very comfortable with computers and electronics but I still READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! Very happy customer.

Pros: Worked perfectly.

Maestro RR with vw1 harness

Crutchfield customer from NORTH ADAMS, MA on 1/10/2021

2015 Volkswagen Passat

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Well, i used it with a jvc unit maestro compatible (kwv350bt) replacing my VW factory stereo (RCD510 PREMIUM 8 unit) and a lot of options were not available. Including the tpms monitor gauge, climatic control, and some others. Wich i would have liked. But it states that with VW tpms data doesnt appear. Its a VW issue. Not maestro.rr issues. Hopefully this can be fixed somehow. battery voltage, check engine, boost, acceleration etc gauges all work. Also i LOVE that it records your 0-60mph times and stores them along with quarter mile times! I didnt know that was an option but i love it! The gauges from the canL and canH are a very nice touch. After flashing unit i was a bit intimidated by all the wires. Quick reference...most of the wires are not used in newer vehicles. They are in there because its a general unit used for many different vehicles and set ups. I will be purchasing the radar dector to go with it. My only negative is that when i assigned the steering wheel controls, the secondary functions are not working. The regular volume up/down etc works. But not press and hold. Probably a vehicle compatibility issue. But it said they should work. Tried reflashing with no luck. Oh well. Take the good with the bad. I also incorporated an oem backup retention harness (sold separately) with this unit and it works better than the display it showed on my factory stereo! Love it all. Easier install then thought. Used with VW1 harness.

Pros: Adds many features that usually arnt avaialable. Love the obd2 harness instead of military splicing into wires from pins 6 and 14. These are CANH and CANL data wires. Straight forward install for people like us who do installs and know the workings of the units and wiring. Love Crutchfield tech support! Thanks guys for my 8th order since October! Cant get enough lol

Cons: A lot of info from gauges non accessible in my 2015 vw passat tdi . Including tpms monitor. Most others work. Just select couple gauges not working. Im sure with different car makes these gaugesbwill work like advertised!

Works great on my 2014 Silverado 1500WT. I am able to see my gauges through the radio (OBDII), and retained all factory functions. The installation seemed intimidating at first, but the design only allows you to plug one type of plug into each spot. It is as close to foolproof as possible. I had Crutchfield prewire my wiring harness so that all I had to do was plug everything in. The radio worked on the first try. Highly recommend this along with the Pionner DMH-C5500NEX and Silverado specific dash kit for ANYONE wanting to upgrade the IO3 or IO4 radio. New 6x9s in the doors and it sounds amazing compared with the stock setep.

Pros: Connections only fit one way, foolproof, good instructions, FUNCTIONALITY!!

Cons: Initially intimidating

The unit works as it should. It requires programming on the internet prior to install, this was difficult for me because it requires internet explorer, there are no options for other browsers, so Mac users or folks that are using tablets are unable to use the internet to update. iDatalink does provide an app that can be installed on your computer as a workaround which I used with no problems. There were a ton of unused wires and harnesses for my application, plus if you use a factory integration harness you will also have extra wires in that kit as well, so stay organized! During programming there is a cool feature that lets you choose what each button does, you are not stuck with what the factory thought you should have. For example: you can have the talk button answer or place a call with one push, and also have it access siri voice commands if pressed and held down.

Pros: customizable

Cons: internet explorer or downloadable app required for programming

Works as advertised (2010 Civic). If you're new to this, realize that you'll need to program this item at a computer before installation. Also, decide what you'll what your SWC buttons to do, and test them well before closing up the installation. Everything worked, but there are a lot of options that may sound better than they actually work. I made a poor programing decision and ended up reprograming the unit. Once that is done, the unit worked great and the installation was not very difficult.

Pros: Lots of options for SWC customization. Programming is easy. Works great.

Cons: Wire could have been longer. The interface box is small, but I still wanted the extra length to stuff the box in a nook out of the way of the head unit.

Used this to install a Pioneer radio in a 2011 F150 with Sync. Works good except I'm disappointed that the mic from the truck doesn't work and I have to install a new one. Yes the new mic came in the kit, yes the install is pretty straight forward but it is frustrating that the installation instruction doesn't mention anything about it. The kit is sold to bridge the gap between sync and the new radio, it list all function that works and the one that doesn't. I made the mistake of assuming that the mic would work but it doesn't. This product would get a 5 if the instruction and the sales information had mention this. At least customer service is good and they knew about it. Please add a note about it. thanks

I couldn't ask for a more seamless integration with my 2013 F-150, JVC stereo and K150 dash kit. Steering wheel controls, climate controls all working great! Instructions were a breeze and Maestro does an outstanding job in making it easy. I would suggest testing everything a few times before you button up the dash. I also suggest keeping a longer USB cord attached and hiding it somewhere you can gain access. The F150 is a beast to dismantle so this let me reprogram when I needed without opening it all back up. Just realize it cant be powered to reprogram so disconnect your battery before trying to flash the device with your computer. Great setup, works perfect, enjoy!!

Pros: Easy to Install Customized Instructions Great Software Small and easy to place in dash

Cons: Must disconnect battery to re-flash the firmware (maybe a wireless option in the future) Comes with a lot of extra cords (prep is key)

The easiest process to flashing and preparing prior to install so you won't lose control of your steering wheel features! What can't this thing not do? I set mine up for my Chrysler 200 2016 and it works fantastic!

Pros: Easy steps to follow after creating your online profile.

Cons: Error notices with connecting to server. I suspect this happened to me for upgrading to macOS Big Sur and the latest support file needed to be for Catalina or older. Mac users be advised. I had to resort to using a windows computer to flash this unit. The developers behind Maestro, please act sooner to release firmware updates to stay consistent with the times.

Way too buggy!!

Jeffrey from FAIRBANKS, AK on 11/17/2020

2015 Ford F-150 XLT

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

At least in my 2015 F-150 this thing is buggy!! The installation was not straightforward, thanks to some incorrect wiring diagram information. Have had several instances where issues have arisen and the only solution appears to be to re-flash the device and hope for the best. Sometimes it fixes them sometimes it doesn't. In the 10 months this has included FTR-1 lights remining on if the passenger door was closed last (which did kill the battery), the back-up camera view being incorrect, and the rear window defroster being on 100% of the time regardless of indicator light. Tech support has no idea what causes any of these issues. Just re-flash. If it fixes the problem great. If it doesn't you'll just have to learn to live with them. If you are counting on this being a seamless installation without having to deal with a bunch of problems you are probably going to be really disappointed. I've had to take the dash apart three times in the last ~10 months to re-flash the device. It has worked two of the three times. For right now at least my problems are down to the rear defroster issue. This could be a Maestro RR problem or it could be a FTR-1 problem. But there does not appear to be a way to fix it.

Pros: You will become a semi-professional stereo installer with far more hardware and firmware experience than you ever dreamed you'd have.

Cons: You will become a semi-professional stereo installer with far more hardware and firmware experience than you ever dreamed you'd have.

The data link is a must have. For everyone that is using this in a Ford f-series truck with sync..... when you flash your data link make sure you uncheck the sync boxes!!!! You can keep the same steering wheel buttons, but you have to uncheck the sync options because the new data link and the old sync clash.

Pros: Makes all of the steering wheel buttons work perfectly. Makes the parking brake, reverse, Door notifications, and many other stock stereo options still work perfectly!

The complexity of the install doesn't detract from the fact that iDatalink provides everything you need to complete it. It was my first time so I pored over the instructions before starting. The additional, custom Crutchfield instructions received by e-mail with the order confirmation were a godsend. The online process to flash the unit works fine; the user interface is good though some features weren't immediately intuitive. I then contacted Crutchfield support who were helpful, pointing out a few places where incorrectly interpreted the instructions and answered a few questions. Then it was a matter of buckling down to soldering and other assembly.

I had no issues with getting harnesses and interface to eventually connect to the Alpine ilx-w650. However, I had to refer to the great Crutchfield support team for some open ended issues as I installed the head unit. Even Crutchfield (and iDatalink) had the fit designation correct for my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sahara JK with alpine sound , the notes regarding that ilx-w650 and harness/Mastro fit should have included: 1. Fader will not work if Jeep has Alpine factory sound, but sound is going to all speakers & SW. 2. Wiring instructions will come from iDatalink..not Crutchfield. Did not know that until I got the harness and flashed the Maestro unit as instructed by Crutchfield support. 3. A wire will need to be connected to the harness and spliced into the Emergency Parking brake cable to allow for access to ilx-w650 system setup (on screen) to work. This is a known solution, but not evident until install and after tech support. This should be included up front. Overall, the harnesses/interface/Maestrp are good. Just understand the ilx-650 is a no-frills system without a lot of integration brains. But its a very nice system and once hooked up with the harness correctly, all is good ...and worth the effort to save a lot of money..

The download was simple, took about 30 minutes to complete. Also unlike claimed, you will not retain ALL steering wheel key functions. It works perfectly. I was able to get all my steering wheel controls and all my data back working, eventually. My recommendation is to flash the unit twice. I did the configuration and firmware flash the first time, everything was proper, buttoned my car up, and.....no steering wheel controls. Had to reflash. Once you install it, I recommend to power the unit up with the stereo and test your controls BEFORE final install, just to be safe.

Pros: I can use my steering controls still Pretty easy to install

Cons: Had to flash twice, had to take dash apart to do so Bulky behind the dashboard The desktop app is really buggy. If you click steering controls twice, it tosses you back to the login screen.

Issues with crosstrek install

2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

The unit definitely helped with installing my new gps stereo and preserving the steering wheel controls, but there is are 2 common problems: 1) with the reverse backup camera requiring a 12v wire that is not part of the standard 2014 subaru crosstrek maestro set-up. Tech support has been helpful but having this in the maestro unit design and instructions would be more helpful. 2) microphone connection not working. Ended up using mic that came with new stereo and wired direct. It is a better mic anyway. Photo shows old mic plug on right and new Maestro mic plug on left

Programming was pretty easy and once done all the features on my steering wheel work like they did with the factory stereo. A little confusing to install but the factory integration and OBD reading is awesome. Once I read the manual and did some YouTube recon, I was able to figure the install. I had issues determining if I could use this because it didn't show my car's steering wheel on their website. It made interfacing with my car's amps and steering wheel controls a breeze.

Item works as expected from second try. The first item arrived defective and was smelling badly during test run. Was not comfortable to leave it under the dash. Great customer service. Replacement works with no issues. It is highly configurable, you can reprogram each button and add even more features. I highly recommend to install it in some easy to reach place and run it like that for some time (several hours) to make sure that it does not overheat and it is safe to install under the dash.

Pros: Features, configuration, easy to program and install

They should re-word the description to say that it "only works with approved radios on the iDatalink website". You can't just hook up any radio to this harness. You first must program it and you can't do that unless you have a compatible radio, cause you need to enter the serial number of the radio onto the module, in order to use all the data connectivity features. Only approved for 1 Sony radio and it wasn't the one I was installing.

Awesome features and integration

Crutchfield customer from Kitty Hawk, NC on 8/5/2020

2009 Ford Mustang

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I want to start by saying that I haven't installed a stereo in 25 years and the amount of wires needed to be hooked up with this and the FO1 harness for my vehicle can be overwhelming but not impossible. Take your time and follow directions and this can be done. Critchfield definitely does a great job of giving you everything you need, taking all the guess work out. I will say that Maestro states that you retain all factory features but that's not entirely true so to speak. One feature, a minor one, is the R.A.P option which allows your stereo to keep running when the ignition is off is not there. This is not a big deal but after being use to this it can be some what annoying. I will say there customer support is great and this is the response from them on this issue: Some of these early Ford vehicles have a retained accessory power (RAP) wire that is not part of the vehicle's databus. In these applications, you will lose RAP from the RR, as we do not see a data command saying "keep accessory powered" essentially and there isn't an analog/wired input to the RR to allow us to utilize the existing wire. Technically it can be wired to the radio (only!) if you cut the RR's accessory output BUT you will lose all maestro features (steering wheel controls, gauges, check engine light scan, etc.) when the key is turned off. I am also have a few issues with TPMS option but this seems to be more of an issue with my vehicle than the unit as my year does not show actual tire pressure #s

Pros: Seamless integration and added features like gauges

Cons: Does not retain R.A.P option.

Cons: I wish there was a way to program it via an app or menu instead of having to take the dash apart and plug it into a laptop. My dash is a pain in the ass to remove.

This is the first time using this product and dealing with the company. Their customer service sucks. After trying to setup an account and flash the module, I had no luck whatsoever. An easy 15 minute take turned into over an hour of phone time with tech support and no answers. Well they did say it was their fault and that they didn't know how long it'll be till it's fixed. What kind of garbage is that? It's been a few days now and the website and app are still not working. It makes me miss PAC and others that had much more efficient customer service and products. As for the device itself setup is easy. Even though there is a nest of wiring, it isn't anymore difficult than istalling a PAC in a Silverado with Onstar and Bose.

Cons:
