About the iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR Interface Module

iDatalink's Maestro ADS-MRR module, along with the correct interface harness for your vehicle, allows you to install a new car stereo in select late-model Fiat, Ford, GM, Chrysler, Toyota/Scion, Honda, Fiat, Subaru, or Volkswagen vehicles while retaining your factory steering wheel audio controls and the use of your factory amplifier, if present.
iDatalink's Maestro RR module

iDatalink's Maestro RR module

iDatalink's Maestro ADS-MRR module, along with the correct interface harness for your vehicle, allows you to install a new car stereo in select late-model Fiat, Ford, GM, Chrysler, Toyota/Scion, Honda, Fiat, Subaru, or Volkswagen vehicles while retaining your factory steering wheel audio controls and the use of your factory amplifier, if present.

Here's how it works

First, you connect the Maestro to your computer using the included USB cable, visit www.idatalink.com/maestro, and follow the instructions. Once the unit has been "flashed," it's ready to go. Next, you'll either solder or crimp the vehicle-specific Maestro harness (sold separately) to your new receiver's wiring, just like you would with any Crutchfield wiring harness or wiring adapter.

Important Note: You will also need an additional Maestro vehicle-specific wiring harness that connects your new receiver to the ADS-MRR module and your vehicle's wiring. We will automatically add this harness to your Cart at a discounted price when you purchase a new car stereo and this ADS-MRR module.

Retain steering wheel audio controls, too

The ADS-MRR module also allows you to use your factory steering wheel audio controls with your new receiver. Using the intuitive web programming interface, each factory button can be assigned a specific radio function. Better yet, you can also assign a secondary "press and hold" radio function to each factory button, effectively doubling what can be controlled.

Keeping your factory features with an iDatalink-ready car stereo

If you're buying a compatible Kenwood, JVC, Pioneer, Sony, or Alpine receiver, you'll enjoy the outstanding performance of your receiver, plus seamless touchscreen control over most of the factory features in select vehicles (see Details for specific functions and installation notes).

Chrysler: You'll retain the use of the Uconnect® system (including voice command), along with your steering wheel audio controls and factory amp.

Fiat: You'll retain your vehicle's factory amp, USB port, and backup camera.

Ford: You'll keep your SYNC® system, including the factory Bluetooth, satellite radio (in select vehicles, see Details), steering wheel audio controls, and other great features.

GM: You'll retain the use of OnStar® system, along with your steering wheel audio controls, your factory amp, and safety warning chimes.

Honda: You'll retain your vehicle's steering wheel controls, Bluetooth, aux iInput, and factory amplifier.

Subaru: You'll retain your steering wheel controls, factory amp and sub, and Subaru backup camera.

Toyota: You'll retain your vehicle's A/V input, USB port, and backup camera.

Volkswagen: You'll retain your VW's Bluetooth, the factory digital amplifier and fader, plus VW's media device interface. Select Kenwood receivers allow you to display navigation info on your VW's multi-function screen.

In the end, once configured with my radio upgrade, I am very satisfied. I downrated because the instructions and diagrams (specific for my car & radio) were too cryptic. Despite color coding of connections on the unit, the diagrams were not sufficiently clear for me to make the cable connections correctly without a phone call. At the end of the assembly instructions it says "test the unit" without further details.

Pros: I called twice with questions. The phones were answered promptly and the tech support was excellent. Very courteous and helpful. With the instructions provided this tech support is essential, and greatly appreciated.

Everything in my 2nd Gen Tacoma worked except for parking brake sensor detection. This sent my head unit into a land where I couldn't set up my rear-view guidelines, couldn't play DVDs (admittedly limited use for 2019,) and most egregiously couldn't set up Android Auto. It took a bit of google-fu to get it all working after that.

This kit made simple work of setting the new radio up to keep the factory buttons on the steering wheel. Without it, I would have lost the door chime, turn signal, and alert chimes from the SUV. My only issue with it is you have to have a computer handy to configure it or change the settings on it. I need to re-configure it for one of the steering wheel control buttons and I have to take my dash apart to get to it's USB port so I can reflash it with a new config.

Works... SORT of...

Paired this with a Soundstream VRCP-65, at Crutchfield's recommendation, to retain steering wheel controls. Was surprised to discover, after receiving my items and going through the install process, that Soundstream is not supported by Idatalink and, as a result, you are forced to use a generic Kenwood w/Bluetooth model during install. The upside, is that you retain SOME steering wheel functionality. The downside is that you will not retain ALL (Phone/OK button) because Idatalink does not officially support the Soundstream. My personal 2 cents is that Crutchfield should not recommend this as part of the installation package for a Soundstream stereo until this changes, as the item under "Vehicle Features Retained" that says, "Steering Wheel Controls" is not entirely accurate.

Pros: Helps retain some of your steering wheel functionality.

Cons: Without advanced research, you may be surprised, (as I was) to discover that the item that was recommended by the website does not support your brand of stereo.

Works well, but check the rear camera voltage

Crutchfield customer from Prairieville, LA on 7/21/2019

2012 Toyota Tundra

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I'm impressed at how quickly the response is from vehicle button hit to response from the receiver. It seems more responsive than the stock radio. One problem I had is that the voltage sent to my rear camera was regulated down to 3.4V instead of the needed 6V. I confirmed this with a replacement unit. I had to get a 12V to 6V converter and do some additional wiring to resolve the issue. So, they unit works well but it required some troubleshooting on my part to figure out why my rear camera would not work.

Pros: Works well, very responsive.

Cons: Did not supply 6V for the rear camera.

Flash, flash and flash again if it doesn't flash correctly. Crutchfield replaced my first one but just to see if it'd work I flashed it with an old firmware about 10x to get it to work. I then flashed it, I swear over 20x to finally get it to take on the new firmware. The new one flashed correctly the first time.

Pros: Great iDatalink

Covers everything

Crutchfield customer from Crystal Lake, IL on 7/16/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Covers everything and comes with a lot of extra stuff that you may not need and is not labeled. None of the many connectors are labeled, but there are no duplicates so you should find the right match if you study the box closely. Plus it's a lot of hardware and cables to jam back in to the dash. Overall, it finally worked out ok. A "plus" is the excellent Datalink guy I called knew about the dual back up camera power leads that no one from several calls to Crutchfield knew about, so don;t be shy, count on the customer service if you need it!

Pros: Covers everything

Cons: Covers everything, so you're not sure what you have and what you don't. The broad, generalized instructions were not overly helpful. Seems like they thought the whole process would be as intuitive to everyone else as it was to them. This is a common problem with todays technical writing community.

Kohlby from Tempe, AZ on 7/11/2019

2017 Ford Focus

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

The Maestro RR is a decent little device, it provides basic integration with the Ford SYNC system on aftermarket radios, as well as a LOT of steering wheel control options. The Weblink software can take a while to flash, as their servers seem to be offline a fair amount of the time, but once you get it flashed, its smooth sailing. Installing the device physically is not difficult, once you take the time to sit down and decipher the wiring diagram. The hardest part is discerning which wires/harnesses you need out of the set they give you (The ReadyHarness service comes in handy here). If you're setup has two AUX inputs, make sure they are in the correct inputs on your head unit, it does make a difference. Test your factory inputs to make sure they are mapped correctly before you seal it all up. Programming can be a bit of a challenge- I found that when flashing my car, I had to use a different firmware than what the program created in order to have my reverse signal work correctly, and retain SYNC (In my case, I had to move up to a 2018 with the same radio specs). This is where its important to really test every feature of your setup before putting your dash back in place, there can be a lot of trial and error involved in this step. Keeping in mind you may have better luck with flashing older versions of the firmware provided. All in all, this was a great purchase, it just took some time to setup. I would recommend this to any person who has the option of using it.

Pros: Retains basic SYNC functions; in-dash PID & TPMS Display; Custom Steering Wheel Controls

Cons: Can take several tries to program; May need to flash under different year/ feature package

The best option to get your car controls

This is the 4th one of these I have installed in a car and they work every time. The only problem I have had is when I accidentally selected the wrong radio during the flash process. Totally my fault and a re-flash fixed the issue. If you are getting this make sure to pay for the Crutchfield wiring service to have it pre-wired for your vehicle. That makes it a truly plug-n-play install.

Pros: It just works, customizable control options, easy install

Cons: none

You definitely cannot go wrong with this interface tool if wanting to retain factory controls. This is also contains the ability to obtain OBD car information into an aftermarket stereo receiver. Configuration via the computer was about 4-5 minutes. I ordered this with the "ready harness" option - so everything was pre-cut and wired for me. It was basically plug and play out of the box.

Pros: Easy of connectivity. Full functionality of stock/OEM controls. Additional car information via ODB connector. Simple interface via web/PC app for configuring.

Cons: Size - this should easily be able to be fabricated on a smaller scale and be able to retain connectors. Should keep size (and wiring) in mind for those with limit stereo install space.

What a mess. Installed in my 2006 Mercury Mountaineer with factory subwoofer. I no longer have a subwoofer. My backup camera doesn't come on automatically. The ODBII guage readouts don't work. Basically I got to keep steering wheel controls for $150 extra cost. Sorely disappointed in the difficulty installing this product and trying to make it work. Have a bunch of wires left over but tech support not needed for my install. If I got my subwoofer back and the guages, etc. to work I'd be happy. Spent at least 7 hours installing this and the radio. Thinking about just packing it all back up and returning it.

I recently installed the iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR in a 2014 Outback. It was not easy. The instructions are minimal, and I'm a creative fool, so I made a mistake and had to trouble shoot it later. There are some undocumented things to keep you guessing. There are many cables, wires, connections, and connectors, so it is fairly likely that you will call tech support. Fortunately, tech support is very good and very patient. In terms of function, the Maestro performs as advertised. My entertainment system works, my steering wheel controls work, the vehicle information works, and my backup camera, added at the same time, also works. In terms of fit, well, you just have to stuff this mass of cables and the small box into your dash and fasten it down however you can. You will have to do this while you try to insert your double-DIN entertainment system and mount it too. On my first try, a connector pulled free and I had to redo the job. My bottom line is that I'm thankful for the Maestro, I love my new system, I'm glad I did this, and I never want to have to work on it again. I'm actually impressed with this interface unit, so 4 stars. There's no other game in town that I know of.

Pros: Does the job steering wheel controls work vehicle information works entertainment system works

Cons: Minimal instructions some undocumented items a mess to mount complex cabling and wiring

This unit was listed as not fitting my car, a 2011 Toyota Avalon w/JBL w/o Nav, but according to iDatalink's website it was supposed to work. Gave it a try and I absolutely love it! It was extremely easy to wire, programming it via my computer was a breeze, it simply works perfectly with excellent audio quality and controls. I notice no difference in sound quality between the old receiver whereas the recommended Axxess module sounded a little off. I really like that the Maestro uses line level to feed the amps rather than speaker level. Fade and balance seem unaffected where other units indicate some trickiness when linking to factory amps in that area. It is much better than the Axxess module that I ended returning, very glad I did. Using their flash software I was able to program it to my car, steering wheel, and setup all of the options including extra options on the steering wheel to turn the screen off, pause music, mute music, and display gauges on my receiver. Getting the factory backup camera to work was tricky at first but ended up being a breeze once I figured it out. I simply pulled the two video wires from a connector in the A-pillar, cut, stripped, and taped wires from an old RCA cable I had laying around to the factory pins so that I could return to stock if needed, and it pulled right up on the new receiver. Combined with the data link I now have a larger screen and guide lines that show my turning radius, which was unexpected and a very nice surp

Pros: Data link is awesome Great audio quality Easy to program Easy to wire if you're good at diagrams Added many features my car didn't have: TPMS monitor On screen gauges Factory backup camera now has turning radius guidelines Added new controls to steering wheel

Cons: If you aren't keen on wiring there are enough wires to be a bit daunting so you may look at the professional installer route.

Still having difficulty with Ford Sync interface, every issue seems to require re-flash which means tearing apart the dashboard again. I've given that function up for now, and thankfully the JVC unit taking control of phone and controls is great...just need to get my steering wheel controls working as promised...and that's going to take a few hours on a weekend.

Product installation was very clear and easy. Only complaint is around their software. It would be nice if you could review/tweak the configuration of the product with having it attached to the computer to make it easier to adjust and flash later.

Pros: Does exactly what it needs to

Cons: I dislike having to connect my computer just to review what the current configuration is.

I installed this unit into my RAV4 with a Pioneer DMH-1500NEX. My only complaint is that it doesn't retain the microphone for handsfree talking. Also, it doesn't retain the USB port. Fortunately, I found the USB adapter at another company for less than $15. This product is necessary for keeping installs simply. I also like the engine, battery and tire pressure monitoring. I just wish iDatalink spent the extra time to add a microphone adapter and USB plug for Toyota cars.

Pros: - Retains factory steering wheel buttons; backup camera. - Engine, battery and TPMS monitors are nice.

Cons: - No USB adapter for Toyota OEM port. - No adapter for Toyota factory Bluetooth microphone.

The number one issue I had was not having a good place to affix this behind the dash. I basically had to leave it loose. There is a huge bundle of wires that come with it and lots of splicing and instruction reading. At first glance it seems pretty straight forward. It is not. To get it to work, you have to take the box inside, register it and then download a desktop app, then pick all your options and then finally flash the module. Better hope you get it right the first time, or you will be ripping it all back out of the dash and reflashing again. Now I have a desktop app that I will probably never use again, but I better keep it in case something happens. The integration with Uconnect is a bit bulky, but it does work. The largest issue with all of it is when you are trying to use android auto with the google commands. Since you are connecting this module to interface with the stock uconnect system, it should recognize voice commands with android auto. It does not. You have to install the head unit supplied microphone for that. Maybe I didn't pick the right options? Other than that, it does retain all the steering wheel controls, which is the whole reason for purchasing. It wants to connect to the OBD2 port for gauges. The gauge readouts are able to be customized. With a vehicle that has tight space behind the dash, this was difficult to install and set up. I am glad I did it myself, as I would be very weary of an installer doing this.

Pros: Retains steering controls

Cons: Desktop app required. Web app doesn't work and only uses internet explorer. Very large wiring harness. No straps or way to attach behind dash.

See pros and cons listed. I tend to believe iDatalink in that apparently there is an issue with the Pioneer memory not retaining the driving assist setting. But overall unsatisfied with the support from Pioneer and Crutchfield. A crucial feature is missing that I used to have on the original factory setup, and that I asked before ordering if it would be supported with the equipment on the order. Crutchfield rep did call iDatalinka and was told "Bird's Eye View" parking assist would work with the Pioneer. It does work once, but the setting for it is not retained. Goes back to "OFF" in the Pioneer Camera setup menu.

Pros: All functions work as described except parking assist, which is a very desirable feature. Using Maestro with Pioner AVIC 8500 NEX

Cons: Contacted iDatalink for support - Advised I get rid of the Pioneer, as they stated the "On" state for the parking assist on the Pioneer is not retained for some reason. But I assume a software update would fix that Contacted Pioneer for support - They denied any issue Contacted Crutchfield support - very sympathetic rep promised to contact both companies. never called back.

This product is amazing, not only does it maintain all factory steering wheel controls, it adds features to the same controls if you press and hold them down. So, VOL - can decrease volume or MUTE if pressed down for a second. It did require me to solder and shrink wrap 17 wires (I didn't want to use wire nuts and I didn't use the much faster posi-locks). For my Subaru, every wire was nice and long, and exactly the same color combination as the Maestro harness. It made connections so much easier. The device is was easy to program (with a laptop, you flash it with firmware specific to your vehicle), its small and light, and the harnesses are long enough so I can remove the stereo head without any issues running out of wire slack.

Pros: Amazing level of integration with factory controls

Cons: Takes some time and care to install

The module seems finicky at best, but once working, appears to do what it's intended to do. Steering Wheel controls function and The OEM Satellite radio works. After first install, the unit operated fine for several days and then the head unit would stop working intermittently. It was a mystery as to why. I pulled all the cables back out and everything seemed to be OK. There were no apparent cabling problems. I re-flashed the module and now it's been working consistently since then. There is also a button on the module that appears to be a reset switch of some sort. I'm guessing it is possible that the button may have been pushed, causing the problem. When reinstalling in the car, I took steps to ensure that the button couldn't be accidentally depressed. So far so good. While the OEM Satellite radio works. the turn signal chime will not work when the OEM Satellite radio is active. Strange, but apparently not something that can be overcome (based on the idatalink forum comments I read).

Pros: Eventually got it to do what it is intended to do.

Cons: Turn signal chime won't work when connected to OEM Satellite radio

Yet the configuration was done though a web interface. So it really is laziness that they used a windows only applet to write the data to the interface module rather than write something cross platform. Fortunately this is a one-time operation. Other than that, works flawlessly.

As long as you have a PC (not a Mac) with Internet Explorer, configuration wasn't bad. The product itself, though, is a little wonky. My Pioneer AVH-2440NEX responds to steering wheel controls until you push a button on the receiver, but after that it doesn't work until you re-start the car. I wish I had known that going in, I probably wouldn't have bothered with the additional cost.

I was very impressed with this interface. I am no car install expert by any means, however this product made setting up my new stereo a breeze! It came with very simple, direct instructions on how to download and setup the system for my particular vehicle. I have a rear DVD system, steering wheel buttons and a back up camera. I only recommend this if you want to keep your Satellite radio. It is pretty nice but has features you really can't, or shouldn't, use while driving. Otherwise I recommend just going with the basic wire harness adapters. You definitely want to let these guys pre-wire it for you, well worth it! Somehow it caused my Tire Pressure Monitoring System to quit working.

Pros: Allows you to keep many factory features.

Cons: Complicated to install. Instructions were not thoroughly explained. I lost my TPMS feature.

The best interface hands down. Good quality. Awesome features. Installed in my 07 Silverado with a Pioneer AVH2300NEX with NO problems. Take your time, study your setup and have patience with the wiring. I have years of experience installing aftermarket systems so installation was not hard, just took time. All worth it in the end.

Pros: Compatible with many vehicles VIA flash. Retains factory options. Allows for OBD2 features.

Cons: Tedious wiring. But it has to be done. Can only be flashed by a Windows based computer.

Soooo easy! I've installed hundreds of the old Peripheral Peswips style interfaces with their old style interfaces. Every car was a different mess of wiring. This thing is so easy you just program it and wire it in like a basic harness and you're done. Steering wheel interface doesn't require extra programming like other interfaces. Direct datalink plug and it just works perfectly from first time keyed on

Pros: So easy. No extra programming once in car. Simple simple simple wiring.

Cons: It didn't wire itself... I guess???

I like this kit better than the PAC kits. It was super easy to wire in, but there were two things. 1) the plastic is super cheap and very hard. I though I had the plugs firmly connected but when I installed the whole thing 2 of the 4 plugs came undone (and I blew the radio fuse in the engine compartment). So REALLY push hard when you install the unit. 2). Of all things you MUST USE internet explorer to programme the component. "edge" and "chrome" would do nothing (but no error message). Other than that, once in, worked perfectly.

Pros: Works perfect, programme and forget.

Cons: Cheap plastic connections, Must use Internet Explorer to porgramme.

After reading reviews I decided to avoid the headache and have the CrutchField ReadyHarness service added. Certainly glad that I did. Crutchfield wired everything up to the harness I purchased to replace my factory system with a Pioneer AVH-1440NEX head unit. Even with that service the install for the Maestro wasn't straight forward. The Maestro has to be flashed via Internet Explorer, Net Framework and you may have to adjust your security controls on the internet explorer to be able to get it to work. Honestly who uses Internet Explorer anymore? I ended up having to flash the unit 4 different times as the settings I wanted were not working properly. This was more of an annoyance than anything else. Do not install the unit until you test every single thing. Thankfully I headed my own advice here. Extremely happy but not user friendly at first.

Pros: TPMS digital read out and all the available options are well worth the money.

Cons: Not user friendly

Installed this in conjunction with iDatalink HRN-RR-TO1 Factory Integration Adapter. The installation was a FREAKING NIGHTMARE. My husband is an electrical engineer and this wasn't his first install rodeo. The module had to be re-flashed multiple times to get it to work properly. The connector that Maestro said should have the reverse camera (per their instructions) did not exist in our vehicle. Crutchfield confirmed this with their own diagrams of the car. Crutchfield helped him find the correct connectors and signals that then had to be tapped into, but the wires were pretty hard to reach and there wasn't much length to work with. The e-brake signal was not recognized by the DVD player, because the signal was not present where Maestro was looking for it, and so he had to find ANOTHER connector to tap into in order to bypass the Maestro and feed the signal to the receiver. Then he had to do another bypass because the reverse signalling to trigger the backup camera was also not recognized by Maestro. In total, he had to splice into six different signals to get the Maestro working. It is a design issue, not that they put the wrong harness in the right box. This could have all gone smoothly if Maestro had used the right wires and connectors! In all, he spent 15+ hours across 5 days and 5 hour+ phone calls with different Crutchfield techs. Kudos to Crutchfield for the assist, but stay away from this setup if you value your sanity.

A necessary evil. First, the iDatalink plugin that you need to download to flash the module requires specific versions of windows, Internet Explorer and .NET framework - so specific that an above-average user can't even get it to work. Fortunately, Crutchfield was able to help by sending a pre-flashed unit to replace the original one. The marketing materials also said this can be used with the Jeep Uconnect mic (not accurate).

Pros: it worked. sort of.

Cons: Not as easy to flash the module as it sounds - requires very specific setup on your computer that most modern ones don't have.

The iDatalink is a must for integration with factory controls but it allows so much more than just hands free steering wheel controls.

Pros: easy installation can be configured to meet your needs allows hands free operation with steering wheel controls

Cons: wiring diagrams need minor clarifications for accuracy firmware updates and flashing only compatible with Internet Explorer

The iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR really is the way to go if you're adding an aftermarket head unit to a vehicle with SYNC, steering wheels controls, factory amp, microphone, usb, etc. The programming was seriously easy IF you follow the instructions step by step. The iDatalink website has the wiring diagrams and instructions for every vehicle so you know exactly how to wire it up. It allows you to choose which factory options you wish to retain, including the steering wheel controls with an additional adapter which is vehicle specific. I definitely recommend this, although I wish these adapters that are required to add an aftermarket head unit/stereo weren't so expensive.

Pros: Allows Retention of Factory Options Detailed Instructions Quality Color-Coded Wiring Great Manufacturer Website Support

Cons: Costly

This device is a little temperamental. Sometimes when using my factory steering wheel controls it does unexpected things. Also should have a Mac version. Not everyone wants to have access to a pc. Overall it works and turned out ok but it took some time to get it right.

Pros: Worked once I figured it all out

Cons: Original instructions were incorrect. Causes radio to change modes while turning the volume up??

A must have for connecting your new entertainment system to a vehicle

Jeremy from Greensboro, NC on 2/12/2019

2011 Honda CRV EX

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I originally selected this option because I loved the idea of getting all kinds of information on my vehicle right in the entertainment system, and I can't tell you how awesome that is. A simple example is that it let me quickly see which tire was low when the low pressure light came on on the dash. But the ability to create customized dashboards with the measurements I want to see, was super cool as well. The best part though was the fact that this let me map all my steering wheel controls to the new stereo without having to do anything but a few selections, and add some new features for things like press and hold, which weren't part of the factory install. Really great!

Pros: Direct ODBCII connection, direct connector to the Pioneer system I purchased, the ability to map steering wheel buttons to functions in the stereo, and support for my factory subwoofer!

Cons: The firmware update process for the unit is a bit janky. That could be streamlined a little I think, but it works fine and wasn't a big deal.

This was my first time using Crutchfield. I was impressed with the level of detail and product testing. I was able to purchase the recommended installation kits tailored to the specs for by 2015 Honda CRV and am very happy with the results. I wanted the job done right and used a car auto installation service. They recommended different parts and modules. I am glad I trusted Crutchfield as the other recommended products had consistent reviews as cheap, poorly constructed and difficult to install. No wonder these were not offered at Crutchfield. The install was rough as the installer did not follow the recommended direction. What a hassle. As soon as I found the right install instructions thru Crutchfield all was easy. In trying to work out some other after market custom additions the folks at Crutchfield were available, knowledgeable and earnest. I feel am able to get the most out of my audio unit - set up for my needs - because I went with the parts recommended here. The 794ADSMRR worked as promised with a simple set up. Thank you.

The iDatalink Maestro (along with two other iDatalink components required for my 2012 Tahoe) made installation into my vehicle easy, and I was able to integrate all of the vehicles systems and steering wheel controls into my new Pioneer Stereo/DVD Player. I was able to feed video into my factory roof mounted monitor for back seat passengers, while also retaining my XM connectivity and steering wheel controls. The Maestro also enabled the stereo to play through the factory Bose amplifier and speakers. I wouldn't do a stereo installation in a late model vehicle without using iDatalink's products.

Pros: Steering Wheel Controls Video Connectivity XM Connectivity

Cons: Mildly Bulky Requires Two Extra Modules for use in 2012 Chevy Tahoe

Must-have addition to multifunction car stereo install

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Overall very happy with this after 6 months of daily use. Installation is pretty straightforward-though far from 'simple.' Lots of wires to sort and connect. Only option to flash controller is by using Internet Explorer, which hasn't been on a computer of mine since the early 2000s... It not only allowed us to keep the steering wheel controls with the new Pioneer AVX Head unit we installed, the connectivity to the ODBII allowed us to pick up some funky new real-time info in the car itself - RPM, % fuel remaining, real-time tire pressure monitoring. That's pretty amazing. Only other quirk is that with one of the two factory keys, all the steering wheel buttons shift one position - up is now down, down changes input, etc. Called rah support, and of course their solution is to reflash it... I'm not taking the whole dash apart to pull the Maestro out just for that.

Pros: Preserves steering wheel controls, adds readouts for car functions that were not available with OEM stereo

Cons: Tricky install, requires computer from Reagan era to install.

However to program the module, you have to hook it up to a computer running Internet Explorer and let the website use Active X controls. This is extremely archaic technology, and a security risk. Ist let me say that ive been shopping with Crutchfield since 1993....ive purchased many items...most of which were perfect and met my expectations. A few times I needed to return an item and no questions or hassles ..(one of the great things about shopping at Crutchfield) The other great thing is the fantastic customer support !! By far the BEST in the industry bar none!! Ok now on to my review...I purchased this item along with a pioneer avh 2440 nex for my 2008 dodge charger srt8. Ive installed many head units over the decades so I was confident I could do it myself. Boy have things changed!! lol However this was a pretty straightforward install that was met with a few challenges. brought on by the lack of documentation provided by the manufacturer. The install instructions are a little on the vague side. Carefully study the wire diagram and be sure all of the colored connectors are hooked up properly. The issue I had was with the 3.5mm audio jack.....it plugs into the head unit AUX port......so you can retain Uconnect features.... That lil tidbit of info is not provided in the install diagram......I mistakenly plugged it in to the remote RAC jack ...Wrong!! lol After I got everything all buttoned up....the steering wheel radio controls and the head unit remote control would not function.... I swapped the plug to the Aux input and all is fine. Im very happy with this unit and it works seamlessly with my new Pioneer HU.

Pros: easy to flash online. retains a lot of factory features

Cons: Vague install instructions.....can be a lil difficult to find room for all the extra wiring behind the radio.

This product works great in my 2011 Cruze, much better than the recommended equivalent Metra/Axxess interface modules. I was able to retain all features and gain a great deal of "extras" out of my radio because of the in depth level of integration this unit provides.

Pros: * Profound level of integration * Small footprint * Drives my secondary display with useful data * Provides a visual parking assistance (in addition to the normal beeps)

Cons: * The web interface uses old-school ActiveX controls * Because of this, you have to bend over backwards to make IE11 work in Windows 10 with it. Google search for "maestro install windows 10" because someone has documented the detailed steps to make it work * On my secondary display the FM status is ugly/broken because many stations don't properly implement RDS; looks GREAT on all other screens

Awesome Product - ZERO Documentation!

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

In early 2018, I bought a 2015 Ford F150. Beautiful truck that was perfect for all my needs... except... that lame 4.3" screen and barely-there sound system! Crutchfield to the rescue! The Alpine iLX-207 is an EXCELLENT head unit! I just needed the iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR and a iDatalink KIT-FTR1 dash plate to get it installed. I knocked a star off because there is virtually ZERO documentation for the plug that go into this thing. Some of them are the SAME but with different colors and you don't use all of them! So it wasn't immediately apparent if the color coding was purposeful or not. Also, one of the harnesses shown in the video looks "pre-formed". But all I had was a bunch of wires to connect up to something else. Again, without documentation, it took me like an hour to decipher what they were trying to convey there. I've installed many car stereos. This was definitely the most complex and I was OK with that. I just needed a little documentation to EXPLAIN the purpose of each plug so that I could intuit the installation process. In the end, the entire project was 100% successful!

Pros: Comprehensive Integration with 2015 Ford F150 No loss in OEM features

Cons: Inexcusable Lack of Documentation

Pros: Integrates many features fairly seamlessly and programming is easy (see Cons).

Easy flash (be sure to use Internet Explorer instead of Chrome when flashing). Easy installation with F01 harness (also purchased through Crutchfield). Make sure the firmware in your head unit is up to date PRIOR to installing the Maestro unit. Incredible expansion of the head unit and vehicle capabilities, really like the fact that I now have 10 additional gauges for monitoring vehicle functions. I did not want to purchase stand alone gauge packages and have them clutter up the cab of my vehicle not to mention additional $$$. The Maestro unit solved that problem perfectly. Would give it 5 stars but on occasion I have to go into the settings and re-detect the vehicle PIDs. Overall very happy with the unit.

Pros: Easy flash & setup Easy install Greatly enhances head unit and vehicle interface

Cons: Occasionally have to re-detect vehicle PIDs

Climate control is a bit glitchy. If you install and the red light has only a single blink this means that the flash was not effective. To get this to work you need to reflash it to a totally different car and then go back and flash it to your vehicle. For whatever reason just reflashing to your vehicle does not completely reset and reflash the unit.
