About the iDatalink Maestro RR Interface Module

iDatalink's Maestro ADS-MRR module, along with the correct interface harness for your vehicle, allows you to install a new car stereo in select 2006-up Ford/Lincoln/Mercury, GM, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/RAM, Toyota/Scion, Honda/Acura, Fiat, Subaru, and Volkswagen/Audi vehicles while retaining your factory steering wheel audio controls and the use of your factory amplifier, if present.
iDatalink's Maestro RR module

iDatalink's Maestro RR module

iDatalink's Maestro ADS-MRR module, along with the correct interface harness for your vehicle, allows you to install a new car stereo in select 2006-up Ford/Lincoln/Mercury, GM, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/RAM, Toyota/Scion, Honda/Acura, Fiat, Subaru, and Volkswagen/Audi vehicles while retaining your factory steering wheel audio controls and the use of your factory amplifier, if present.

Here's how it works

First, you connect the Maestro to your computer using the included USB cable, visit www.idatalink.com/maestro, and follow the instructions. Once the unit has been "flashed," it's ready to go. Next, you'll either solder or crimp the vehicle-specific Maestro harness (sold separately) to your new receiver's wiring, just like you would with any Crutchfield wiring harness or wiring adapter.

Important Note: You will also need an additional Maestro vehicle-specific wiring harness that connects your new receiver to the ADS-MRR module and your vehicle's wiring. We will automatically add this harness to your Cart at a discounted price when you purchase a new car stereo and this ADS-MRR module.

Retain steering wheel audio controls, too

The ADS-MRR module also allows you to use your factory steering wheel audio controls with your new receiver. Using the intuitive web programming interface, each factory button can be assigned a specific radio function. Better yet, you can also assign a secondary "press and hold" radio function to each factory button, effectively doubling what can be controlled.

Keeping your factory features with an iDatalink-ready car stereo

If you're buying a compatible Kenwood, JVC, Pioneer, Sony, or Alpine receiver, you'll enjoy the outstanding performance of your receiver, plus seamless touchscreen control over most of the factory features in select vehicles.

Chrysler: You'll retain the use of the Uconnect® system (including voice command), along with your steering wheel audio controls and factory amp.

Fiat: You'll retain your vehicle's factory amp, USB port, and backup camera.

Ford: You'll keep your SYNC® system, including the factory Bluetooth, satellite radio (in select vehicles, see Details), steering wheel audio controls, and other great features.

GM: You'll retain the use of OnStar® system, along with your steering wheel audio controls, your factory amp, and safety warning chimes.

Honda: You'll retain your vehicle's steering wheel controls, Bluetooth, aux iInput, and factory amplifier.

Subaru: You'll retain your steering wheel controls, factory amp and sub, and Subaru backup camera.

Toyota: You'll retain your vehicle's A/V input, USB port, and backup camera.

Volkswagen: You'll retain your VW's Bluetooth, the factory digital amplifier and fader, plus VW's media device interface. Select Kenwood receivers allow you to display navigation info on your VW's multi-function screen.

See Details tab (above) for specific functions and installation notes.

iDatalink Maestro RR

Web-Programmable Radio Replacement Solution: The iDatalink Maestro RR (ADS-MRR) is part of a web-programmable solution that allows you to replace the factory radio in many 2006-up Ford/Lincoln/Mercury, GM, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/RAM, Toyota/Scion, Honda/Acura, Fiat, Subaru, and Volkswagen/Audi vehicles (requires additional vehicle specific harness). Retained features will vary by vehicle and aftermarket head unit.

Flashing Module via Weblink Desktop: The iDatalink Maestro RR (ADS-MRR) will need to be loaded with correct firmware before installation. The included USB cable plugs into your computer and allows you to "flash" the Maestro RR with the appropriate firmware to prepare it for installation. Simply download Weblink Desktop (for Windows and Mac) onto your computer to access the appropriate firmware. System requirements include -

  • Windows PC (10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP/2000) or Mac OS X (Mojave [10.14], HighSierra [10.13], Sierra [10.12], El-Capitan [10.11])
  • Available USB port (version 2.0 or 3.0)
  • 4GB RAM or more
  • 200MB available space on HDD
  • Internet connection

Note: Not compatible with Chromebook and other operating systems not listed above.

Aftermarket Radio Compatibility: The iDatalink Maestro RR (ADS-MRR) is fully compatible with select aftermarket receivers with an iDatalink Serial Port and partially compatible with non-serial port aftermarket head unit. Features will vary by vehicle and type of aftermarket head unit.

  • Fully Compatible Serial Port Aftermarket Receivers: The iDatalink Maestro RR is fully compatible with the select Kenwood, JVC, Alpine, Sony, and Pioneer in-dash receivers which feature an iDatalink Serial Port. Click here for a list of compatible radios.
  • Partially Compatible Non-Serial Port Radios: The ADS-MRR is also compatible with non-serial port radios from Alpine, Axxera (Dual), Blaupunkt, Boyo, Clarion, Eclipse, Jensen, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, and Sony.

Retained Features: The iDatalink Maestro RR lets your retain important factory features and functions - including Infotainment systems like Ford Sync, OnStar, and U-Connect. Other retained factory features and functions include Steering Wheel Controls, Satellite Radio (external tuners only), USB ports, Aux inputs, Bluetooth, RSE (Rear Seat Entertainment) and Backup Cameras. In addition, your vehicle's Warning Chimes and RAP are retained. In some cases the factory amplified system will be retained, while other times the factory amplifier will be bypassed.

Note: Retained features & functions will vary by vehicle.

Steering Wheel Controls: The iDatalink Maestro RR also lets you retain your Ford/Lincoln/Mercury, GM, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep, Toyota/Scion, Honda/Acura, Fiat and Volkswagen/Audi vehicle's factory steering wheel controls when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket stereo that offers a SWC input. In addition to retaining the original steering wheel functions, you can assign secondary press & hold features to the buttons of your choice. There is only one wire that will have to be spliced when installing this interface in your compatible Ford/Lincoln/Mercury vehicle. However, if the vehicle was equipped with factory navigation, there will be no extra SWC wires to connect in the vehicle. You will not have to splice any wires to get SWC functionality in a compatible GM, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep, Toyota/Scion, Honda/Acura, Fiat, or Volkswagen/Audi vehicle.

Note: Steering wheel controls work with the following brands - Alpine, Axxera (Dual), Blaupunkt, Boyo, Clarion, Dual, Eclipse, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, and Sony. Other brands are not supported.

Extra features: When installing an iDatalink Serial Port compatible Kenwood, JVC, Alpine, Sony, or Pioneer in-dash receiver in select Ford/Lincoln/Mercury, GM, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep, Toyota/Scion, Honda/Acura, Fiat, and Volkswagen/Audi vehicles, the iDatalink Maestro RR offers Extra features. The Following Extra features will vary by aftermarket head unit and make/model/year vehicle.

  • Climate Controls: Control your climate, defrost, and heated seat settings directly from your aftermarket head unit's LCD touchscreen.
  • Vehicle Info: Monitor your car's door status, tire pressure, read and reset engine codes and more directly from your aftermarket head unit's LCD touchscreen.
  • Gauges: Displays speed, boost, turbo, RPM, engine temperature and more directly on your aftermarket head unit's LCD touchscreen.
  • Visual Parking Assistance: Displays visual proximity indicators directly on your aftermarket head unit's LCD touchscreen for extra security.
Note: 2014-2015 Pioneer receivers with the iDalink Serial Port and non-serial port aftermarket radios do not support these Extra features.

Navigation Outputs: The ADS-MRR provides a VSS (vehicle speed sense), Foot Brake, Parking Brake, and a Reverse Light output to make installing practically any aftermarket navigation radio simpler and less time consuming in select Ford/Lincoln/Mercury, GM, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep, Toyota/Scion, Honda, Fiat and Volkswagen vehicles.

Amp Turn-On Lead: The ADS-MRR provides an amp turn-on lead to turn on any factory amps when installing virtually any aftermarket head unit. Both balance & fade control are retained in many vehicles with analog amplifier systems. iDatalink Serial Port compatible head units from Kenwood, JVC, Alpine, and Pioneer also support fading in vehicles with digital amplifier systems.

Note: If you are installing an aftermarket head unit that does not feature an iDatalink serial port, then you will not be able to fade in vehicles with digital amplifier systems. In this case, adjust the factory amplifier's fader prior to installation of the new aftermarket head unit.

Installation Note: Connecting the module, vehicle specific harness, and aftermarket head unit together requires hard-wiring numerous wires by soldering or using Posi-Twist connectors.

I want to add gauges to CarPlay for my 2014 Mazda MX-5 Miata. After speaking with a representative online, I found out the reason this product was not recommended for my Miata even though the Maestro site shows that it does fit, is that there is no T-harness supplied with it. I was told as long I was comfortable wiring it myself to my vehicle's OBDII, SWC, etc., it would work. I went ahead with this because I really want to have some in-dash OBDII info for my vehicle and I can wire it myself. [ B  Dec 15, 2018 ]

Integrates with vehicle and kenwood radio to show some vehicle data. First advisor I chatted with advised it would only work with $800.00 radio and custom harness done by audio shop. Checked idatalink a website with kenwood head unit that fit my budget and found it would work. Called in spoke to Garrett (very knowledgeable individual), confirmed it would work. Shane, if you purchased this gear from us, our Tech support team would love to help you troubleshoot and see what may be the issue. As far as I can see the iDatalink module should be compatible with your mustang, the only things we list as being lost is the Rear Seat Audio Controls ( if they are present), and you factory satellite radio tuner.

Q
I have a 2011 f350 lariat, it came with the headunit that contains sync, nav, back up, and premium sound (amp, tweeters and sub). I recently tried to install a new headunit but didn't work. I've installed multiple headunit before and even one on a base model 2011 f250 with no issues. I have a harness but it doesn't have anything for the run/acc wire. Also when testing I gave it power but the radio doesn't have sound. I'm guessing I either A) have to integrate the stock sound package or B) bypass the amp somehow. I also have an axxess box to maintain steering control already and it works perfectly with my radio. The only thing I don't really care to keep is sync. So If someone could help me figure out what harnesses I need for 1. Run/acc wire 2. Sound through stock premium sound package 3. Retain reverse camera I'm hoping this is the correct device for the job?

Get with Crutchfield advisor and buy a Maestro unit. It worked well on my 2014 F150 and retains Sync and Steering wheel functions, so no reason to believe it wouldn't work with your factory Ford setup.
[ Gary  Sep 03, 2019 ]
A
The "Maestro " should do it for ya, and with the Maestro you won't need that "Axxcess" box so just return it! The Maestro lets you program it to you liking also! It's worth the $90 or whatever it was I paid for it. I installed it with a Pioneer head unit, and a parking bypass switch and it works flawlessly.... the ONLY negative I have for the Maestro is when trying to program it, you MUST do it (if I'm remembering correctly) through IE..... you CANNOT update or program through Chrome!!!!!!!! Otherwise, buy it.

Do you really have to be a technician and have a company name to register an account? The registration page is making me fill this in and the site claims non certified technicians are not allowed to install this.
[ Fredo  Mar 20, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
In short, No. As i recall you can just fill in the registration page with whatever to get the account. I think the non-certified claim meant to be a deterrent as well as to help mitigate potential law suits. It is not overly complicated to program or install. But I would caution you to read all the instructions carefully before and during installation. I also recommend testing it once its all connected and BEFORE you close up the dash! It's never fun to think you're done just to have to open the dash again....

A
This module will work in your vehicle and you will be able to see performance gauges on the screen of that Pioneer once you have programmed it! However, this alone does not fit or plug into the vehicle. You need a vehicle specific harness pack to make that happen. Q
can I use this to get data like mpg from a ford econoline van (that is not equipped with digital info center) and display on a compatible radio?
[ Shawn  Jan 09, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
It will probably depend on two things. 1.) you would have to use a Maestro interface to pull out the Info from the vans computer. 2 ) bigger question would be how New is the van? I installed this in my 2016 ford truck which had a basic radio and display, the radio with the Maestro now shows all gauge data including tire pressures! It's amazing the amount of data the Kenwood can display 3). Another way to get this data would be through the Garmon Nav. I believe the MPG is also reported through there if you use the Eco Route function and enter data when filling the tank.

Will this allow my factory rear DVD player to work in my 2008 Dodge Ram as long as I get a new unit that plays DVDs?
[ Cody  Aug 04, 2018 ]

This module was mainly for me to retain my steering wheel controls. I don't think it has anything to do with outputting video. I think as long as the new unit has additional video output you should be okay. If, your Dodge has controls on your steering wheel to control your radio you will definitely need this as long as it's the one crutchfield recommends. Hope that helps!.

2008 GMC Acadia SLT2. Are the warning chimes the same as factory settings or is it the buzzer generic "tick-tick-tick" turn signal sound of the '70's and '80's?
[ Jason  Jul 31, 2018 ]

The information we have access to on the programming options of this interface doesn't specify the type of sound that is produced when the turn signal alert occurs. But I do see that the alert tone is programmable so I don't expect that you will be forced into either, but can choose the alert tone. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

Do I need the Maestro harness for an 07 ram sport with no steering controls and an aftermarket amp?
[ Caleb  May 26, 2018 ]

A
The optional vehicle specific harness helps you complete the install with splicing the least amount of wires. Technically, this interface can be installed without that optional harness, but it is then a complete cut/splice installation to the stock wiring and the level of difficulty increases exponentially. Because of this, we recommend getting the optional harness for your Ram vehicle. We have advisors that you can call on 1-800-324-9695 for help getting the correct one! [ Tony  May 13, 2018 ]
1 answer
A
I used this kit to integrate factory steering wheel controls with my Pioneer head unit. That is all it is used for to my knowledge. If your stereo picks up vehicle information such as door open, tire pressure, and malfunction indicator lights, that is achieved through connecting the radio to the OBD2 connector. I used the maestro to assign volume, next track, and phone call buttons on the steering wheel to functions on the radio.

Can anyone confirm that for a 2013 Ram 1500 that this allows the replacement had unit to control the heat/ac vent output location? I.E. defrost, dash, foot wells, etc. Looking to replace a factory RA4/8.4n. Thanks
[ chad  Jan 19, 2018 ]

A
As far as I know, the equipment in question is only for the steering wheel controls for the audio system. I don't see how this unit would be able to control the heat/AC unit unless the controls are also on the steering wheel.
