Does not work with Civic 2015 EX-L

Nghia from Alameda, CA on 1/13/2023

2015 Honda Civic EX

Powered up the maestro rr2 but did not power up my alpine ilx f509. Have spent two days trying to get it to work. Spliced the wires and tested with a multimeter. The metra 79 harness powers the radio so that eliminates the radio being defective. Was told to use this to retain lane watch and backup camera from someone with the same car (Honda civic 2015 ex-l).

Pros: Eliminates the number of wires that need ti be spliced

Cons: Not necessarily plug n play

Not a knock on the adapter but I had install issues. I have used Crutchfield a few times. This install was the hardest. I did get the ready harness connections by CF which helped. Tech support was good. I called 4-5 times. Each call moved me along in the process. The actual connections in the directions could have been a bit clearer. But tech support to the rescue.

Good Product

Verified employee review (What's this?)

The iDatalink adaptor worked great to upgrade my stereo. It took a little hunting to find my CR-V's bluetooth module (in the center column behind the gearshift) so I could tap in to its orange wire. Install directions incorrectly said the module would be behind the glove box. Pro tip: use Posi-Tap connectors to easily make your connection.

I definitely didn't expect the OBD2 connecter. That's pretty swag that I can see all that info on my radio. Pretty sure I got like at least 5hp.

Pros: Danger to manifold gauges

Cons: Worried about my floor pan flying off

Best harness to adapt to OEM steering wheel controls

Crutchfield customer from Westland, MI on 1/14/2020

2012 Honda Civic EX

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

This wire harness is the best. It worked seamlessly with my steering wheel controls. Paying the extra money for the required maestro rr module was without hesitation as once it was programmed, attaching it to the iDataLink harness was easy and adapting the harness to my Honda was very simple. The issue is that even though I say it is simple to follow the instructions, it is highly recommended that you are knowledgeable in automotive aftermarket installations or you pay someone to do it for you.

Pros: Once the module (maestro rr) has been programmed, setting up the harness to go into your vehicle is simple and quick.

Cons: If the final step of testing doesn't work, troubleshooting can be frustrating unless you have intimate knowledge on automotive audio installations.

Well made T harness. All connections clearly marked. Does not work with 9th gen accords with imid screen, which I was informed of when checking out. I am planning on adapting it and pestering ADS to get on the ball with their accord 9th gen solution. More people need to bug them.

Pros: High quality

Cons: Limited compatibility

Not Finished Yet!

Tom from Elmhurst, IL on 1/6/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

My new iDatalink HRN-RR-HO2 Factory Integration Adapter restored the factory features that were lost with the installation of my Kenwood DDX-395 another solid Crutchfield purchase. Crutchfield's cutting edge catalog assures that my auto makeover hobby will continue for sometime. If they don't carry it, you probably don't want it. Most importantly is the tech support.. Clear and concise pdf instructions that anyone can follow as well as experienced techs only a phone call away should you need to but I bet you won't. Always been hesitant to tackle a car audio installation but no more. Not with Crutchfield to help. One would be remiss to consider anyone else for your A/V needs

Pros: Overwhelming choice of audio and video products for Home and Auto along with friendly and knowledgeable sales and service people. Very easy and pleasant to deal with.

Cons: Yea, after you see some of the ideas some of the sales and tech people have you realize you'll never have that kind of money to blow on A/V but it's nice to know you're dealing with the smartest people in the business!

Worked Mostly Well

Installed this in a 2016 CR-V with a Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX and it generally worked fine. The only issue was the preservation of the LaneWatch camera (that is, activation of the LaneWatch camera when signaling right).

Pros: Saved time in creating my own splices.

Cons: Missed some functionality when used in conjunction with Maestro+2016 CR-V
