About the iDatalink HRN-SW-HD1 Factory Integration Adapter

iDatalink working with Harley-Davidson

iDatalink's HRN-SW-HD1 wiring adapter works in conjunction with iDatalink's Maestro ADS-MSW module (sold separately), allowing you to connect a new radio in select 1996-2013 Harley-Davidsons. Once connected, you'll retain the use of your handlebar-mounted audio controls in these vehicles, including the Push-to-Talk and Squelch buttons (if present).

iDatalink working with Harley-Davidson

iDatalink's HRN-SW-HD1 wiring adapter works in conjunction with iDatalink's Maestro ADS-MSW module (sold separately), allowing you to connect a new radio in select 1996-2013 Harley-Davidsons. Once connected, you'll retain the use of your handlebar-mounted audio controls in these vehicles, including the Push-to-Talk and Squelch buttons (if present).

The adapter plugs right into the ADS-MSW module, which then plugs into the steering wheel control input or wired remote input on your new radio. You'll need to splice the bare-end wires on this iDatalink harness to the wires on the harness that plugs into your new radio.

Taking full advantage of the harness and module

Once you've installed the adapter and module you'll be able to program short- and long-hold audio functions to each handlebar button. And since the harness works with any stereo with a wired remote, your options are endless.

Installation note: The HRN-SW-HD1 adapter must be used with the iDatalink Maestro ADS-MSW module to connect a new stereo to your Harley-Davidson vehicle.

product itself has only 2 speaker leads, not 4 as full dress Harley has 4 speakers..... had to wire rear speakers myself. Crutchfield tech rep made it right by sending another spare , turned out was not needed as rear speakers plug into different harness.

I needed this adaptor to link with the radio to my handlebar controls on my bike. Took less than ten minutes to solder it up and turn the radio on to check it out. To be honest I was surprised how easy it was.

Pros: Was small and very lite as well as easy to connect.

Cons: no Cons

This unit will connect your stereo to the Harley wiring harness and speakers. I thought this is what I needed to allow me to gain control over an aftermarket head unit. Using the mounting hardware (Scosche HD7000A Dash Kit) and Scosche HDSWC1 rather than JUST this kit actually gave me the control I was looking for. Make sure you buy the whole kit, not just this piece. You will need to program the button controls to your liking. Hope this helps.

Pros: Connects a aftermarket to Harley wiring harness, allowing the factory speakers to work.

Cons: If you want the handle bar controls to work you need the Scosche HDSWC1 kit INSTEAD of this kit.
