About the iDatalink K150 Dash Kit

Bob Bihlmayer

Put a new radio in your F-150

Your 2013-14 Ford F-150 with its 4.3" "My Ford" screen is a great truck, but the console makes it tough to upgrade the factory radio. This iDatalink K150 dash kit allows you to install an aftermarket double-DIN (4" tall) receiver in the dash panel. The kit is a perfect match for the color, texture, and contours of your dash, and features climate controls with a factory look. You'll get a convenient pocket with flush-mounted HDMI, auxiliary, and USB inputs that connect to your new radio.

Module required for this installation

You'll need the Maestro ADS-MRR module (not included) to complete this installation and retain your steering wheel audio controls. The K150 comes with simple plug-in connectors for the Maestro adapter and your F-150's factory wiring harness.

Retained features

With any car stereo, this package retains your factory amplifier (if equipped) and your backup camera. Install an iDatalink-compatible car stereo from Alpine, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, or Sony, and you'll also retain your truck's SYNC features, including hands-free calling and music streaming.

With an iDatalink-compatible receiver, you'll be able to use your receiver's touchscreen to check your tire pressure, battery voltage, and "door ajar" warnings. You'll also be able to choose which gauges you'd like to appear on the screen, and you'll even be able to check the engine codes when a warning light comes on.

Will need the iDatalink Connec HRN-RR-FO2 if I purchase this?
[ Maulder  Oct 15, 2022 ]

Greetings Maulder, and thank you for your question. The vehicle specific harness is included with the K150 dash kit recommended for the 2013-2014 F series pickups. What you need additionally is the Maestro RR, or RR2 programmable modules. Part numbers 794ADSMRR, or 794ADSMRR2. Both are compatible, the RR2 has more features.

Why do you have to plug it in to OBD? Does it stay plugged in? What happens if you take it in to get serviced and gets unplugged to run diagnostics?

It uses the obd port for some of the vehicle communication features depending on the radio you choose it can display engine data on the screen it does not have to stay connected and if the vehicle has to go in for service it will just be unplugged so they can do there work and then plugged back in

Q
I flashed this to work with my truck and with my new radio but the hazard lights do not work now. How would I fix this?
[ CHRIS  Aug 11, 2021 ]
1 answer
A
I am not sure what you mean by (flashed) but if you're hazards do not work now you may need to go to someone that can access the trucks computer and see if the hazards were possibly disabled when it was flashed. A Ford dealer can access the different modules and turn features on and off. Hope this helps

If your Truck has the 4" screen this will work perfect. I have it in my 2014 F150 and it looks factory. Great product

Q
How do you get the USB's built in to the dash to not push in when you try to plug something in?
[ ejn  Jan 11, 2019 ]
4 answers
A
I installed mine almost a year ago, but I don't remember having any trouble clicking the USB ports in place and they do not "push in" when I plug something into them - they remain firmly fixed to the dash kit. One of them has my 64 GB music drive always plugged firmly into it. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
[ David  Jan 12, 2019 ]
A
I have not had that problem. I plugged in all the harnesses and all works as it should.
[ Clyde  Jan 11, 2019 ]
A
Sounds like you got a faulty one.
[ Christopher  Jan 11, 2019 ]
A
i have not had that problem. I would say to make sure they are snapped into the unti firmly.

No. Unless it's built in to your head unit you have to purchase the adapter
[ ALEXANDER J  Dec 27, 2018 ]
A
Only if the radio you purchase is sirius ready or equipped
[ SCOTT  Dec 25, 2018 ]
A
yes if you have it now you will continue to still keep it
[ Larry  Dec 25, 2018 ]
Q
Do the steering wheel controls still work after this is installed?
[ Clint  Jul 07, 2017 ]
1 answer

The ability to retain steering wheel controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have. For full information on this type of integration (including the parts you will need) please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
what happens to the little 4.2 screen where the factory radio diplayed ?
[ Robert  Jun 16, 2017 ]
9 answers
A
The 4.2" screen is removed. The head unit that you install will be your display. Also, you may be able to pick up a few new OEM features like tire pressure display and additional guages.
[ ALAN  Jun 20, 2017 ]
A
It is removed.
[ Dillon  Jun 18, 2017 ]
A
It's completely removed and no longer in place.
[ Brian  Jun 17, 2017 ]
A
The 4.2 inch screen is removed and not used.
[ Dennis  Jun 17, 2017 ]
A
You take it out.
[ BRYAN  Jun 17, 2017 ]
A
You remove it and replace it with a double din unit.
[ NICHOLAS  Jun 17, 2017 ]
A
Gone. This replaces that
[ NICHOLAS J  Jun 17, 2017 ]
A
It comes out as a unit. The large screen then takes the place of that smaller one.
[ RONALD J  Jun 17, 2017 ]
A
This replaces that screen entirely. When I installed mine with a kenwood 5902 double din I retained all the functions that the 4" screen had using the idata link meastro module and wiring harness. You can maintain sync but I honestly disabled sync 2 months after because it was laggy.
[ Nathan  Jun 17, 2017 ]
Q
Will the factory installed backup camera in my 2014 F150 XLT (that displays on the 4.2" display, NOT the mirror) be compatible with this?

Where does the hazard button and passenger airbag indicator get relocated? I have a 2014 Ford -F-150 with the 4.2" screen.
[ iceman  Aug 11, 2015 ]

A
They move to the group of buttons with the climate control. If you zoom in to the picture you can see the hazard button is the bottom left and the passenger airbag is on the bottom right.
[ Adam  Aug 16, 2015 ]
A
these buttons get relocated into the cluster located beliw headuniit. I highly reccomwnd this unit I tried others and they did not have the OEM look I was looking for, plus this pits the screen up at the top versus at bottom like others
[ THOMAS  Aug 15, 2015 ]
A
IT goes where the HVAC contols are located. Right below the two knobs, for fan speed and cold\warm knob.
[ RONALD J  Aug 13, 2015 ]

In the center between the fan speed and temp control knobs
[ Justin  Aug 12, 2015 ]
