Customer Q&A

Q
My steering wheel doesn't have radio control. If I add them to the steering wheel and use this setup with the maestro module, will the steering wheel controls work or would I have to take it to the dealer for the BCM to get flashed?
[ Anthony  Jun 17, 2020 ]
1 answer
A
The ability to retain steering wheel controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have. For full information on this type of integration (including the parts you will need) please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
Do I have to get the maestro interface ?what if I don't need my stearing controls?
[ Kelly  Apr 16, 2020 ]
3 answers
A
Yes, because you will lose all climate controls when you replace the factory head unit
[ Daryl  Apr 16, 2020 ]
A
Yes. The interface is the control box for heating and everything not just steering wheel controls the idatalink is just the buttons if you will.
[ B  Apr 16, 2020 ]
A
Yes you need to program it for the new kitcam1
[ Nicholas  Apr 16, 2020 ]
Q
What's OB2?
[ Kelly  Apr 16, 2020 ]
1 answer
A
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

[ Michael  Apr 07, 2020 ]
A
Yes, you need both. It's a nice kit, though and looks great.
[ Andrew  Apr 07, 2020 ]
Q
does this kit come with the idatalink RR?
[ Warren  Nov 20, 2019 ]
3 answers
A
It comes with its wiring harness but if you are running OB2 then you need idata link setup for your automobile. I truly like this setup better then the first one I have
[ ADAM  Nov 24, 2019 ]
A
No it does not, the RR is required and must be purchased separately.
[ Alejandro  Nov 20, 2019 ]
A
If you are just purchasing the iDatalink, no it does not, the RR is sold separately. If you are also buying a new head unit at the same time, the recommended installation package that includes the iDatalink will also include the RR, as well as all other wiring you will need to install the new radio/head unit at an overall greatly reduced prices (as compared to buying each item separately). When I purchased my Kenwood, I also purchased the installation kit that included the most options, which came with both the idatalink and the RR, as well as all the other installation wiring needed, and saved $50
[ James  Nov 20, 2019 ]
Q
How does this kit work with heated seats?
[ Cody1  Aug 03, 2019 ]
3 answers
A
When you set up/program the RR unit you need to go with the iDatalink, you will need to designate two of the numbered (1-4) buttons for the heated seats (one button for each). Took less then 5 minutes from start to finish to set up the RR unit, to include adding the heated seat function and it works great.
[ James  Nov 20, 2019 ]
A
Yes it does
[ Barry  Aug 03, 2019 ]
A
It works good with the heated seats. you can use the radio screen with the climate controls to turn on the heated seats or programs the kit buttons to turn them on and off.
