About the iDatalink ACC-USB-SU1 USB Adapter for Subaru

Keep your Subaru's USB port

Metra's ACC-USB-SU1 cable allows you to keep the USB port in your Subaru when you install a new car stereo. One end of the cable connects to the plug just behind the USB port on your vehicle's console, while the other end plugs into the USB port on your new car stereo (it must have a rear USB port). The package also retains your Subaru's 3.5mm jack, if your new radio has a rear AUX input. Warranty: 1 year.

What's in the box:

  • 59" Aux harness (terminated by a molex connector on one end and a male stereo 3.5mm connector on other end)
  • 20" USB harness (terminated by a molex connector on one end and a male USB-A connector on other end)

Product Research

Subaru USB/Aux Retention Harness: The Datalink Maestro ACC-USB-SU1 allows you to retain the factory USB port and Aux input in select Subaru vehicles. The USB adapter of this harness will plug into your new aftermarket radio's rear-panel USB port, while the Aux adapter will plug in at the factory Aux port location in the dash or console of your vehicle. Click here for a list of compatible Subaru vehicles.

  • In addition to the iDatalink Maestro ACC-USB-SU1, you'll also need a vehicle specific radio replacement interface, wiring harness, and dash kit. Other install accessories may also be required.
  • As long as your new car stereo has a high-amperage charging port (1.5A or greater), this USB adapter harness should support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto operation. However, the number of variables involved means we can't guarantee compatibility.

Customer Q&A

2 questions already asked

Product description states Apple CarPlay works, however reviews say it doesn't?
[ RJ  May 01, 2021 ]

This part allows Apple CarPlay to work work in vehicles that only have one USB port (not compatible in vehicles that have multiply USB ports) and only with new aftermarket radios that have a high-amperage charging port of 1.5A or greater (some only have up to 1A USB port which does not work). I recommend contacting an advisor to discuss the specifics of your vehicle and radio to check compatibility.

Will this fit a non-nav 2010 forester?

The supplied 3.5mm cable connector is TOO SHORT. I have a 2013 Subaru Forester, originally came with non-navigation head unit (OEM Clarion) and 6 speakers. I purchased a Kenwood Excelon multimedia unit from Crutchfield along with the ACC-USB-SU1. The USB connector is fine (I purchased an add'l USB cord from Apple to use in the cabin just in case), while I had to purchase an 18" right angle 3.5mm audio cable extension to complete the radio installation.
[ Robert  Dec 09, 2020 ]
Yes it does. You would likely need some additional wiring to complete a radio installation. You can connect with one of our product advisors to get a complete cart here:
