Decent basic sound and responsive to both voice and touch. Wonderful sound and bass makes Google Nest Audio unit Worth the upgrade from the Mini.

Pixel users beware

Sounds quality is good and the voice assistant is very snappy compared to older home models which had to churn a lot more to process your requests. 2G and 5G WiFi support is nice in an era where a lot of things only support 2G so you're smuggling connections if you've got split WiFi channels. Getting the thing running was a real pain though. Google has an ongoing lawsuit with Sonos the prevents them from using certain network pairing technologies due to a patent dispute. This means that you can't pair the Google Nest if you're using a Google device. I have a Google Pixel so this meant getting my iPad, trying to to the setup via the Home App on there. It erroring out due to it not playing nice with iPad OS permission settings, rebooting both devices, setting up the Nest, adding it to my home, and then being able to configure it and control it from any device. Google claims this is a "minority" issue but they are on a major branding push to get Pixel's in as many people's hands as possible through multiple retail partners and their own website. If you don't have an extra non-Google device (iOS, or non-Google part Android Smartphones such as Samsung should work) you have to reach out to Google, tell them your issue, and they'll send you a replacement device with a newer firmware version that doesn't have this issue. I bought this to replace a clock-radio whose radio no longer worked. This works great! Easy to hook up and use. Buying another one for my kitchen.

Google Family let down, but speaker is good

Works great and sounds good for a small speaker. I'm just disappointed with the Google Family approach. I just wanted to let my kids have a speaker in their bedroom and the ability to use their Spotify kids account off of their phone. Only way to do it was to set it up as a simple Bluetooth speaker for their phone. Because google won't allow kids under 13 to have google home installed. Plus, Spotify kids is NOT an option for the default music player through my parental google home account. It's functional, but if they say "Hey Google, play music", it hijacks my phone instead.

Elegant design - easy to use

Though I enjoy the portable wireless speaker I own for enjoying music and podcasts when I want to spend time in the outdoors, I really appreciate having a great speaker that works with all my devices (thru the Google app) and can stay stationary in my favorite room in the house - the kitchen. I'm still getting adjusted on how to use the voice commands and such, yet for the short time I've had it, I'm a big fan of the way it has improved my home sound system
